| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

The cold stone beneath chaos was cold, its rugged jagged surface pressing into his flesh. But he was tired and needed to sit, so thi sold worn head stone was going to have to do. It was a rather large headstone, like a giant box with several names on it, names that had been worn away by weather and age. Chaos knew this was a resting place for the dead, and that it was disrespectful to sit on stones like this, but truthfully he didnt give a damn, no one respected him so why should he return the favor. No one liked him so he didnt like anyone else, thats just how it went. But frankly he was starting to get bored, and rather lonely. It was hard to make friends when you were a blood thirsty demon who everyone feared. He tried making friends, but the good ones ran and the evil ones fought back, so what was a man to do. He looked stupid to tell the truth, a big brute like him sitting in a dark graveyard swinging his legs off a headstone. Anyone who saw him, if anyone was around, would think he was out of his mind. And he was, far out of it. But they didnt need to know that now did they. |

Eyes flashed open in the darkness. Not quite darkness, on second inspection. Melmoth bent his neck upwards, bumping into into the wooden roof of his hiding spot, but still affording him the rather odd view of a set of softly glowing red claws on his hands. "Unexpected..." He'd known something was going to happen when he went to ground this time, a transformation had felt in order, but they were always a bit surprising, especially at first Let me guess, Demonic Restructuring again? I got promoted, you could say. Doesn't matter if you've been out of touch with the home office once they decide to upgrade. I've told you all this before, get the hell up. Melmoth snorted at Xrtchwdg's typical apology for the transformation. As long as didn't end up with a tail or something worse, it was all just a minor setback. For a moment, he felt around the confined space, confirming that what gear he'd brought along was all accounted for and tightly strapped to him. The major earth moving operation his first deep sleep had turned into was not an experience he ever wanted to repeat. Cracking his neck, he lifted his hands, pressing them against the roof of the coffin. Taking a deep breath of the stale are, he roared and punched through the lid into the hard packed soil above. Tearing like a madman, the rotten wood of the coffin collapsed and he began the long task of heading for the surface. - - - Powerful clawed hands broke through first, grasping handfuls of the local weeds and corpsegrass, and within moments his head and shoulders were free of the earth's cold embrace. |

Chaos flickered his eyes across the stone edge he was sitting on, a small insect scurried across its rugged surface, traceing its outline with its tiny legs. The demons beady red eyes followed its movement, his dripping tounge licked the blood caked lips on his face. His heart beat grew, going faster and faster until...His rippled arm shot out, attempting to grab the bug from its path. But instead the speed and recklessness of the man crushed the bug, smearing its blood all over the grave marker. Damn! Chaos let out a loud roar and smashed his fist on the stone surface, causing a small indent and a large cloud of dust to fly from the stone. He had not had anything to eat for a few hours and this bug could have atleast held him over, but whatever. Chaos stood from the stone and looked around, beginning to make his way for another part of the yard. But a strange sound met his ear, shovling of dirt could be heard, but not from the surface. Chaos looked around to see a small pile of dirt rising up from the ground. with a strange look in his eye he drew his holy dagger. Two clawed hands burst from the ground, followed by a rather demonish looking face. Holy Gryphon Crap! What the hell is that! Chaos jumped back, being startled by the sudden arrival of a living being from the dirt. Chaos was use to the undead, but he had a feeling this man was not dead, just a rather stronger version of himself. |

Melmoth blinked and narrowed his eyes, both at the almost impossibly bright light of the surface and the armed being before him. It was almost as tall as him, which was saying something, and red-skinned, which was never a good sign. Fortunately, red-skinned things on the whole did not strike Melmoth as particularly bright, himself excluded, of course. Reaching out with his mind, he twisted ambient shadows in that peculiar way his shadowdancer powers allowed him, and the darkness spoke for him. Without moving his mouth, his voice spoke from shadows all over the yard, "I am Hell's immortal warrior, one whom death cannot hold, and..." pulling his torso farther out of the ground as he spoke, Melmoth blinked and paused moving his shoulders for a moment in vain before almost collapsing with visible anger and depression. "and I've lost my wings. Great. You haven't seen a pair lying around, have you? About fourteen feet wide, red, heavily used, well cared for..." |

Chaos watched as the emerging man rose a little more and looked around the area. He gripped his dagger and stepped forward, preparing to attack if needed. But before he could gather his wits the area filled with some kind of smoke, like darkness was encircling him. But chaos was never really afraid of the dark. As the man Emerged the darkness began to spoke, the mans mouth staying still. It spoke of being a demon of hell, who could net be killed, then asked if chaos had seen its wonderful wings around. Well Mr talking darkness, if they were really cared for you would be asking me to find them now would you? Chaos stopped, realizing this man could easily kill him if wanted, so the insults would have to be rare, something chaos did not like. No i havnt, but if ya want i can help ya look. Chaos chuckled as he sheated his blade and walked closer to the man. |

Melmoth waved away the man's halfhearted offer of help. "I imagine they lie below, and I doubt I could reattach them either way. Things have a bad habit of falling off when you're dead, you know?" Not that he had died, of course. According to Xrtchwdg, the Deep Sleep was something akin to a good night's sleep after a long day of work, a thing of rest and recuperation. He'd damned well needed it too. Those last six months he had been utterly frantic trying to find a suitable sacrifice, but he won through as always. Now he wouldn't have to worry about keeping potentials alive for quite some time, and thus could get back to the business of shaping Imythess into something he enjoyed. Melmoth snorted at these thoughts, and then firmly planted his arms on the ground. With one smooth push, he heaved the rest of himself out of the earth's embrace and into a crouch on the freshly disturbed mound of dirt he had created. "Much better. I am Melmoth, and you have already heard some of my titles. By your appearance and... Disposition... I suspect we may have a thing or two in common, but that is neither here nor there. I ask, who are you?" |

Chaos did not really care to listen to the mans words, he was just glad something had shown up to keep him busy. Apparently the man did not expect chaos to find the wings, and well he was right. Looking around rather quizzacle chaos stepped forward to help the man from the hole he had created, but he only watched as the stranger heaved himself up from the earth, no help needed. A small spark of intrest was formed when he spoke of being dead. Well Melmoth, I am Chaos. You sound polite but do not match it in apperance. To warn you i am not friendly nor nice. Letting out a small grumble chaos stood completly upright, trying to seem bigger to the sitting Melmoth. Tell me what you are? I could guess and guess and well never be right, but pray you are no foe to me, i dont like people who dont like me, which is just about everyone. |

Melmoth chuckled for a moment, the sound coming not from his chest, but the surrounding shadows. He was getting his money's worth from that trick indeed. "Am I not pretty enough, or not mean enough? I can do the whole fire and brimstone thing, cow you a bit, and demand your allegiance. Or I can do this, if it makes you comfortable." So saying, Melmoth reached to his right hand and twisted the silver signet ring. The ring took on a shimmering appearance, as liquid silver crawled over his skin, in moments completely covering him in a sliver film, before fading fading into the illusion of his human form. He grinned and drummed his fingers, showing an apparent lack of claws and fangs before standing up and leaning back against the tombstone. "Better?", his mouth spoke for the first time. "I am... Was a Pit Fiend infused of the Divschatten, and I'd put money on you being a member, or prospective member. If you haven't been approached by the guildmaster, I expect you will be. Because of that, you are no foe unless you choose to become one." Melmoth watched closely for a blink, twitch, anything giving away that this Chaos knew of the guild. |

So this man had humor to him, chuckling in the same way he did at times. He even cracked a joke, or it seemed, at hsi apperance not being suitable for chaos. Then he activated some sort of ring, turning from his demonic apperance to a rather normal looking human one. A nice trick Chaos had never seen before. Look at me man, im big an dugly, i have dried blood all over me, i smell and am rude to every creature on this planent, of course your apperance dosnt bother me. Honestly i dont give a damn how you look. It was bit of a rude response, but then again what else was expected. But then something interesting was mentioned, spoken from his mouth for the first time. Ahh a pit fiend. And yes i am aware of the guild, being a member of it myself. I have had the honer of meeting hers truly, and many of the other members, however those meeting wernt always friendly. I sense you friend of this guild? meaning you are friend to Chaos. He stopped, with a slight pause and cracked his knuckles, still sore from punching the rock. |

Nodding his head, and still amazed after all his uses of the ring that his illusory hair shook and brushed against his neck, Melmoth grinned. "So Aether Draka still reigns, does she? At the very least, I haven't been out of it too long then. Good, I feared I might've had another century stint in the earth." At least he'd lucked out there. If AD hadn't died of old age, it meant most, if not all, of his old contacts were alive. He could get to his equipment easily enough, even if an age had passed, but his underground banking system, old though it was, probably could not survive a decade without his interference. And money was always useful. "I am friend to the Guild as long as it stands. Its' members, as you have seen, are not always worth friendship. The exception being AD." And AD had never proven otherwise. AD was a good and honorable person at heart, and anyone who said otherwise in range of Melmoth's hearing was in mortal danger. "Guildmembers, like them or not, have my allegiance. If you find yourself in need of a swordsman, call and you shall have the best blademaster this side of hell at your back." He patted his sword Fate, and felt a wave of unholy energy roll forth from it in response. It being a vampiric blade in addition to a true demonic blade had always made it special compared to other swords. At times it would, for lack of a better word, pulse, and he swore he could feel intent behind its hunger. |

Part of Chaos was glad Melmoth was friend, but part of him was sad that he would not be able to enage in battle, for it had been a long agonizing day since he had obtained a victory in battle. But he would have to wait, for attacking some one such as melmoth could end badly in so many ways. However a idea popped into his mind as Melmoth spoke of needing any aid, and of course his big stupid mouth cut in. Thanks for that, but how do i know that your worth my time if i need assitance, after all if i cant handle it what makes me think you can. Chaos turned a bit, as if to leave this man where he stood, then turned again with a evil grin on his face. Hows about we have a friendly little spar. Nothing aggresive, just a little something to show me i can count on the great Melmoth! |

Melmoth shrugged, and twisted his ring once more, drawing Fate as the illusion liquefied and flowed back to its' source. White claws and teeth heated up to a gentle ember glow, and giant wings of fire formed, floating just outside of his clothes. "Figured it had to be something of the sort. Even hell can't be cruel enough to stick me on the ground forever." He took a few practice wingbeats, one passing through the tombstone and burning it black. "Pick your weapon, then. Something quick will give you a better chance." Melmoth couldn't swing a sword all day by any stretch, but if he was going to sit back and parry, he could keep it up longer than his opponent probably expected. Brute strength, which Chaos seemed to have in abundance, wouldn't be much help if he couldn't land a hit. Careful ploys might catch him, but those required quite a bit of experience to execute properly and still had to rely on surprise. Either way, he thought Chaos was doomed to failure here, unless he used magic to alter the field. |

Chaos watched, a small bit of amazment over came him as Melmoth twisted his rign once more, his true form springing forth from the cover he once had. The demon he was truly was something to behold, a spectacle of a demon. But chaos was not impressed at all. Pulling forth Denile, his tormented dagger, he took a rather awekward stance, and smiled at melmoth. Well i aint much of a expert fighter, but you wont be able to just laze around either. And with out finishing his words he lunged out, slinging the dagger at the right shoulder of his fellow demon. With great force and brute strength he aimed to atleast cut the man if nothing else. (OOC-sorry about the wait, been busy with life crap.) |

With magically enhanced speed, Melmoth sent Fate flying towards the incoming dagger. He connected with the flat of the blade, shoving it wildly off course accompanied by the ring of steel on steel. It had been only a short time before he went under that he had gotten the tattoo that boosted his speed, and he was surprised to realize he had it. "Hmm... On second thought, this might not be completely fair... Oh well. Hit me with everything." He could take it, he knew. Strength was not a particular focus of his, not when a deft cut could end the battle far quicker than a severed limb. If he had a few more swords, and a few more limbs, he felt certain he would be at home in battle with a dozen men. As it was, he would do his best to get there with just one sword. One swordsman, this one, for example, could not do much to him in an open fight. (ooc - Meh, short.) |

Chaos was not at all surprised at the reaction, in fact only a fool would have done something different. A blade sprang forth from the hands of Melmoth and countered his dagger. A light spray of sparks flew from the metal as a loud clang echoed off in the distance. Chaos took a step back to recover and snickered. His target was mocking him, and chaos did not like to be mocked.Chaos smiled as he activated his Chakra tattoo. The skin on his torso, under his arms, moved like a wave as two more arms sprang forth from his body. although not as strong they were better than nothing. You like? Said Chaos as he flexed all four arms. But he did not give time for a reply. Both of his new arms instantly pulled out his letifers just as his body disappeared. The spell blink allowed him to instantly move from his location to another, one he felt was good directly behind Melmoth. As his body reappeared chaos took two heafty swings at the demons back, not deadly but would cause major wounds if landed. His goal was to weaken the demon down, bring him to his level. The bashing would soon ensue. |
