| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

The smell of blood was thick in the air but she saw no sign of a battle, or even a fight. Then she saw something that might be it. A dark stain on the earth. She ducked under the low hanging branches and reached the spot. Just some blood on the ground? How odd. It smelled of death though, and something else... the person wasn't alive. That was sure. Then a fat drop of blood almost hit her hand and she looked up. She swallowed hard. That was not just a human. There were other things up there. AD backed away and looked at the tree. The tree seemed fine from here. Illusion? She wrinkled her noise and decided to test that. She closed her eyes for a moment to help her recall the spell and then opened them again. She then spread her hands wide, using her ability to expand the range of her spell. It was a dispel so the area didn't do too much except allow her to be rid of the most powerful spell in the area. There was a screech and a huge spider like creature with four legs and four arms made it look like some distorted centaur. AD looked at the mess in the trees. It was making some type of nest. There were some dead animals and the man. There were other things about as well... thought no time to clearly identify them. The creature now stood before the tree. It spoke in a strange hissing tone. "You dare to interfere with me?!" AD shrugged. "Depends on if you consider me knowing what you are an interference." |

Leyanni only listened to what the villagers said. They said a strange girl was out in the woods and probably needed to be helped. Leyanni was good with the woods, or she should be. That was their expectation. Ley had only recently become used to the forest, before she had known of the desert albeit never walked in the vast space. Ley had never forgotten, for she never wished to waste something her father had thought useful. Leyanni could not track. She could stumble, and stumble she did. Through the woods, following the path her feet brought her along. The elf had given up shoes when she was in this ancient place. There was a deeper force to this land, she knew it well. She paused momentarily, and sniffed the breeze. The scent of the newly dead. The guardswoman walked upwind. The air quivered with death, fear, but this did not bother the istani so much anymore. She came into a grove, eyes upon the beast before they touched the girl staring it down. "I would watch yourself, the villagers warned me of creatures like this. Things that shouldn't exist within this wood. Unnatural." Leyanni snarled. She drew her blade, ignored the screech of istani steel leaving its scabbard, and prepared herself. "I suggest we kill it, or at least try. I hope you are armed, I hope you know how to use that weapon." Leyanni spat. She had no trust for the woman, even though she appeared to be of the same race. In fact, Leyanni planned to expect more than usual, the woman seemed to be more confident than the average wanderer. |

AD looked at the stranger in surprise. "I really hadn't planned on killing it though." she admitted to the woman. "Well, maybe if it decided not to listen to me, but..." Aether Draka was surprised at this woman, but turned back to the spider-centaur. "You ever heard of the Divshatten?" She asked it. "You look like something they might order about." The spider-like creature clicked it's mandibles in what AD thought of as a laugh. "I would kill them all off for trying to order me to do anything. Now it's time to die!" The spider-centaur rushed forward on it's eight limbs, leaning forward into a charge at AD who seemed unarmed. AD curled the shadows about her like a cloak and stepped back out of the shadows at the base of the tree. She drew her trickster blade and swung it, severing the spiders thread that attached it to the tree. The ground appeared to crumble downward, dumping the three of them into the ground. Trees and rubble fell in above them, blocking of a lot of light. AD resisted smiling. The clearing was now the opening of the cave. The edge of the forest now looked like, for all intents and purposes, a stone wall. Any aid the creature had, or advantage it gained from the trees, would appear to be gone. "Are you alright?" AD called out to the stranger in the dim light of the illusion cave. |

Leyanni didn't have time to react as the earth swallowed her. She fell on unprepared legs, collapsing to the ground in a heap. The half elf grabbed her sword and stood. She squeaked, and promptly took all her weight off her right ankle. It was probably twisted. She was also probably pretty well bruised, but at least she wouldn't feel that pain immediately. "Other than a blasted sprained ankle, I'm pretty good." Leyanni growled. She scanned their surroundings. Shafts of light invaded a dark world, one so close to the surface it astounded her. This place was unnatural. Ley could hear the beast rustling, but her eyes had not yet adapted to the new surroundings. "I hope this wasn't your idea." She snapped, slowly moving towards the center of the lit area. Leyanni slowly turned, wincing every time she put pressure on her leg. Something rushed up behind her, a shape she only perceived in the corner of her eye. A moment later she was flying through the air, wondering why thinking had become extremely difficult, why spots of light had invaded her vision, and why it felt like a maul had come into contact with her head. She rolled across the ground and slowly stood once more, keeping her eyes on the beast. Leyanni prepared her blade, her mind struggling to find a plan of action, and tried to ignore the taste of blood in her mouth. |

AD rolled her eyes. breaking her own ankle due to an illusion. What a foolish woman. She then summoned her demonic panther to deal with the spider creature. If she could have seen it, Leyanni would have seen the shadows responding to her summoning. They swarmed her, pooling before her in a circle, inscribing the words of summoning as she remembered them. Then the shadows coalesced into a bulge in the center before swelling into the form of a large black cat. The demonic panther wasted no time in pouncing at the large creature. It had no problem seeing in the dim light. It was the perfect environment for the hunt. As it lept over Leyanni, it caught one of the beast's main walking legs. With a twist and a violet pull, the leg snapped off at the joint just away from the body. The monster staggered away and tried to target it's attacker. Turin's telepathic voice came to into AD's mind then. "Shouldn't we help her? You didn't have to include her." AD sighed, then agreed. "Alright. Go do your thing Turin." There was after all no real reason to make the woman suffer more then needed. Hurting yourself with an illusion? Really? It took Turin very little time to find Leyanni. A while for his normal speed, but not too long at all. "I can heal you." He spoke into her mind. Then landed lightly on her injured leg and sent his healing magic through her. |

Leyanni blinked a few times as her partner seemed to cause shadows to coil around herself. Did she make the earth cave in? It was a good question, and Leyanni would get the answers later. Blood dribbled down her face, she ached, couldn't see straight, and was still under attack. Until the beast lost a leg. Ley blinked a few times, her clouded mind stumbling over the shadow beast approaching her. It assailed her mind with words, words she'd like to hear. The throbbing pain in her head and ankle stopped. The bleeding did as well, and she spat out the final bit of blood in her mouth. "My question is, why would you drop the floor out from underneath us without warning me?" Leyanni shouted. She used her restored senses to stare into the darkness, realizing the beast had followed the cat. Ley reacted, switching from a secretly frightened girl to a confident swordswoman. She stepped past the cat and parried a swift moving fist. It was a second before she realized she had parried part of his arm, slicing deep across his hand with a light blow. It recoiled, she stepped forwards and lunged, her father's blade hurtling forwards in hopes of another hit. The beast managed to move back a little farther. Ley followed it, stepping forwards. One word was chanted in her head: offense. The war drums kept her moving, dad had told her to never give up the advantage, and she didn't plan to. |

Aether Draka smiled as the young woman got up to help. She decided to be a little more obvious with her help. AD rushed forward and let her free hand tap Leyanni on the arm, giving the girl Ebony Eyes so she could see what was happening in the dark. AD then slashed her weapon at the creature. It hissed in anger and AD directed the panther to snag another limb. The spider-canter tried to turn to attack the panther as it twisted another limb. AD ducked as the abdomen swung overhead, then a mouthful of webbing shot out and snared her panther. Thankfully the cat kept it's grip and the thing was unable to move very far now. "It's not like I planned on having to fight!" AD snapped back at the stranger. If the stupid creature hadn't spilled blood so close to AD's home, she wouldn't be out here. If the stupid creature wasn't so stupid it wouldn't have to die now. She could have gotten another being to side with her guild. Well, screw this. AD was partly tempted to leave, but there was part of her that simply could not leave someone else to finish a fight she had started... |
