Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

“Then I have discovered yet one more facet about you that makes you special,” Sargoth said with a nod as he leaned back in his seat to look at Aether and the young dragon. “There are terms used for those few who have a natural affinity for magic, bright pupils who often show great potential and become lost in the tedious rote memorization prescribed to most young magicians. Some call them Wild Mages, those who wield the magical flows of Imythess as the tree or the river wield their elements. Some simply call them lucky. I have met only a small handful of others that can claim to experience magic the way you do. Most of them belonged to distant, minor tribes that had no access to proper training or arcane texts. I applaud you for escaping the bonds of the Academy on your own.”

Sargoth smiled at Aether and began to move a pointed finger around in a wide figure-eight loop as he continued, “But I did tell you that you could learn something from me and that promise is not invalidated because of your unique talents. Let us discuss the prospect of creating bread for a moment. How do you describe creation? Do you wish to convert empty air into a loaf of bread that has never existed before? Would you instead choose to command a host of tools that make dough and heat it until it rises? Or, as you have suggested, would you simply reach out into the open void of magic and take a loaf of bread that awaits you in someone else’s oven?”

Sargoth’s smile turned into a mischievous smirk as he offered Aether three choices for the creation of bread. He was testing her to gain more information about his new student. Most magicians would jump at the chance to perform harder magic to create a novel object from raw arcana. Less would instead choose to animate simple objects to take the place of their own hands in the kitchen. Only a few would openly choose the easiest spell to steal the bread from someone else’s kitchen entirely. He wondered which choice Aether would make, knowing full well her unique circumstances.

Aether Draka frowned as he explained about those wild magicians. She shook her head, disagreeing with him. "I am not from Imythess though. I had never even know it, or Chaon, existed. I'm from a much darker world where the demons and angels made a covenant to not fight in my home world. Instead the angels and demons granted power to mortals and fought for there cause. There were too many consequences tied to either Angels or Demons starting a fight... so their half-breed or hybrid children and gifted minions did the fighting instead." She shook her head again, confusion clear on her face. She was not asking a question about that now, she wanted to learn the magic, not delve into her own history. She missed the little dragon's surprised and interested look when AD described her own ex-home. Her interest was sparked. There were other worlds? Planes the little dragon knew of, if just in passing, but other worlds?

"Back to the bread though..." AD sighed. "If I wanted to steal bread I could do so without magic. I did so when I was much worse off and begging for food had failed. I would prefer not to do that again, with or without magic. Animating things to make bread sounds interesting, but I'm no good at cooking to begin with. It sounds rather complicated and like I would have to gather a lot of tools and items to do it. If I normally burn things, would the bread end up burnt if I use magic?" She shook her head.

"What I am hoping for is to be able to get food and drink when I am not near a city or inn. So when Arianr gets hungry she doesn't always have to go hunting or go to a city..." She sighed.

"Funny if there is plane of food." Arianr piped up suddenly, with a grin. "Then no one is hungry!"
