Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

The hunt was on, and the wolfish grin on Logan’s face was nice and wide as he followed behind his target. He didn’t indulge in an entirely bestial appetite, he wasn’t going to eat the deer, oh no. He was going to ride it until it tired out or fell down. He followed swiftly and quietly close to it, watching its movements closely, the only scent on his nose that of the unsuspecting creature walking slowly through the trees, looking back every so often and the light sound of rustling leaves. It had no clue what was in store for it.

It stopped in a very small clearing, and quietly the werewolf climbed his way into a nearby tree, the perfect spot to jump on it. He wanted to laugh at himself for doing something that was probably considerably stupid, but he was going to do it anyway. He readied himself to jump, but the deer began to hop away lightly towards the lake to get a drink. He looked at it with a quiet sigh of disbelief, at least if it was taking a drink instead of looking back in suspicion of predators he could probably catch it by surprise. He hopped back down from his branch and positioned himself behind a bush, hidden from sigh but close enough he could probably jump onto it, he wanted to make sure he didn’t claw it up though, it was a pain to get blood out from under his claws.

He took a deep breath, stretched in silence, and readied for the jump. This was it, the only time he would try this stupid thing for the day, but for some reason he just wanted to see if he could. He set down the journal and pair of glasses that were in his hand onto the grass at the base of a tree, took one more deep breath, and prayed for luck, “Banzai!” He leapt at the unsuspecting deer, shouting in the air as he got closer and reached out to grab hold.

He was once again out of food, it was nothing to it but to hunt for more! Chris enjoyed the hunt as much as any of his kind, the sneaking of the wild. The feeling to try and outsmart the prey in order to strike at the right moment. He had noticed the scent of the creature and had followed it for some time, he moved from bush to bush...crawled thoug the tall grass as he followed the animal. It was nice catch and it was going to be a nice hunt, he was going to honor it greatly and make sure to bury the remains when he had all the meat.

His tail moved from side to side as he moved forward, he needed the right opening to charged in. It was important to strike quickly and made the kill swirft and painless, unlike real felines he did not play around with his food at times like this, no he respected and loved all animals in the world...but he knew that it was a part of nature to hunt others.

It looked like the animal was moving down to the lake for water, great...just the opening he needed! The young werewolf quickly charged out from the hiddingplace and jumped to attack the surprised animal! But then he seemed to notice the sound of a voice and the next he knew he jumped right into something mid air. Chris blinked a little and reacted by reflex when he landed on his back with the person over himself...the prey of course quickly ran away. Okay that was it! He quickly began to try and get the stranger away from himself with hissing sound...his claws was out...

Something hit him when he jumped at the deer, something hard. He didn’t think there were any branches over the dear, which left Logan rather confused at the second when the world, and most importantly the deer he was going to ride, turned over on end as he hit the ground. Things were still turning for a while after his landing on something lumpy as he watched the deer rush away from the scene of the commotion.

“My ride!” He complained as he shook his head and reached out towards the deer in futile effort, shaking his head trying to regain his sense of the world. A smell began to overpower that of the deer, it smelled like a cat, and a different human. A big cat, mixed with human anyways. He looked down when he heard a hissing sound right from under him, it was a boy, younger than him, with cat ears and most importantly claws. It didn’t take Logan more than a moment more to develop a headache from the collision and an immediate knowing that this was the thing he hit mid-air. He growled in anger, readjusting himself and trying to pin down on of the were-cat’s arms to hit him in the throat with a free hand.

He was going to hit the boy in the throat once to slow him down, stun him for a bit, and then was probably going to yell at the kid a while for pretty much no reason before trying to desperately wait out the headache. It felt like somebody had hit him in the head with a rock… a very large rock! That didn’t exactly make him happy, though maybe he would pop the kid in the throat and then go lay down for a while waiting for the headache to disappear. It felt more like really bad migraine, already.

Well such a plan was not really going to work for Chris! He hissed a little and even as the werewolf was able to pin him down the jabb towards his throat was not as good since the boy opened his mouth and buried his fangs into it before it could land a hit! He also wiggled to wrestle out from the dog's grip to turn around to make him be the one pinning the other one down!

He could smell that it was a dog, but also a man...so he was guessing it to be a werewolf of some kind. It was a surprise, but the boy was stronger then he looked....well of course a werewolf was made for strenght and a weretiger was more for agile things. With a sudden thrust he rolled the two of them around so that he was on top of Logan, his fangs shown in a feline grin. Then he tried to scratch the sudden opponent with the claws. He had ruined a perfect hunt!! This guy had made him miss the perfect catch.

The kid that bumped heads with Logan was surprisingly strong, unusually so. Luckily, there was still the advantage of height, if only he could get to his feet, back up a bit. The cat-boy managed to change their positions, but even after stopping and trying to scratch at the timberwerewolf, there was still a bit of momentum, though, and Logan took full advantage of it, and the fact that even with magically enhanced strength, the child still had to weigh the same as he should, pushed at the side of the child on top of him, grabbing at his throat with the opposite hand and getting scratched by the claws.

The momentum was too much, though. He overcompensated for how much the child weighed and the fact that they were both trying to rip each other a new hole (probably) meant that they were still attached and attacking at each other when rolling straight into the lake with a splash.

It took Logan all of a second to figure out that water was going up his nose and he stopped fighting to attack the kid and instead started trying to get away from his opponent, clamoring towards the ground, not wanting to try inhaling water like a fish.

He kept going until he got to the ground, coughing a bit of water out as he clamored to his feet. “Crap…” He said unhappily as he shook his arms in a futile attempt to dry them before shaking his head. Now he was completely drenched, moreover, his clothes were completely soaked through. Luckily he wouldn’t get that wet dog odor being more a wolf, but it didn’t make the current situation any less annoying, and the headache which persisted to pulsate behind his forehead feeling like it was about to crack open wasn’t exactly a pleasant feeling.

He sighed unhappily, groaning a bit as he turned to the cat-boy with an angry look, “Thanks a lot. Now I’m drenched and don’t get to do my probably stupid act of the day!” He shook his head, still trying to rid himself of the water unhappily.

Chris was not really sure what happened, they rolled around in the grass and he was feeling really angry. Then suddenly he noticed that the water was getting very close and the second after the two of them feel down into the lake's clear after! He quickly tried to get away from the werewolf to swim for air, it was not a problem since it seemed the other had been thinking the same thing. He gasped when he came up and the ears twitched on his head before he turned to face the other one, his eyes was still angry and he splashed some water onto the werewolf. "You can't say anything. Your ruined my hunt today! That was going to be meat that would support me for months" he commented back with the same angry tone to the voice.

He returned to the side and began to climd out from the water, he shook himself to remove some of all the water, but the clothes was soaking wet now. Perfect...just what he needed. "Do not put all the blame on me for this, it is as much your falt" he snapped and pouted a little, then he sighed and looked in the direction the prey had dissappeared. "I was so close, I could almost taste the meat. It would have been nice not to just have to eat fish" he sounded a little sad now and not angry.

“Without some sort of cold storage, the excess meat would have gone bad after a few days if you were hunting that deer to eat it!” Logan growled as he took the hat off of his head and looked at how drenched it was with a slight look of sadness, his ears lowering a bit as he shook it a bit. He groaned, it was going to be difficult to get it dry… maybe he had something in his journal that could help dry it, he was smart enough to keep a few spells written down in there, the problem was finding them when he needed them.

He snorted a bit, expelling some water from his snout as he stumbled over to the tree where he had put his journal and glasses, gripping his head as tight as he could with his right hand while still holding loosely to his green and white striped hat. Of course he wasn’t smart enough to bring a backpack with extra clothes, oh no. He had to be the genius who went out into a world where this and worse were bound to happen, getting drenched, getting his clothes set on fire, getting them ripped to shreds, but oh no, he wanted to travel light enough to be able to carry his sword and the rest of his junk. He was afraid it was going to start rusting, and the leather was most likely going to stink a bit… this was just great.

He kneeled down next to the tree, shaking his right hand to get a bit more water off of it before picking up the journal and flipping through it looking for any fire spells he was smart enough to write down in the sea of blank pages, doodles, stick figures and pictures that actually took some time to make.

“Soon as I get dry, I’m setting things in fire, lots of things!” He grumbled, finally coming across the spell. That was roughly jotted down alone on a page in his journal. A simple spell, create spark. He had found it while perusing through a few magical books and scrolls in the Cascadian library once. Having enough foresight to copy it onto paper.

“Rapskus.” He snapped his fingers together, a small spark coming from his fingertips and ignited a blade of grass that he quickly patted out. The spell worked, more specifically, this version of the spell worked. There were so many different words and actions needed for magic, it was kind of easy to get lost in a tide of power words, but he got this one pretty quickly, and he was going to use his spite to make a fire for him and him alone.

He took a deep breath, letting out a steady sigh as he put the wet hat back on his furry head, calming down just a bit more as he looked back to the kid. “Crap.” He muttered to himself as he stood up, breaking down a loose branch and tossing it near the small clearing next to the lake.

“Look, help me get a fire going good and let’s just say ‘To Hell with what’s done!’ Rapskus!” He threw his left hand up in the air as he pointed down toward the broken branch and sent a magical spark to ignite it. It was a slow fire at first, but it quickly built up on itself, creating a nice fire that would soon need more than a single branch.

“Without some sort of cold storage, the excess meat would have gone bad after a few days if you were hunting that deer to eat it!”

Chris growled a little and gestured towards the werewolf, with a small splash he sent a bolt of water from his hand to hit him in the back of the head, after all he could not be more wet then he was after all. "Not if I had dried and salted the meat! Then it could have lasted for a very long time and I would not have been walking around hungry." he said with an angry voice, after all his best hunt ever was just mad about it right now, it was not hard to miss because the ears was pressed down against his own head.

He watched in silence when the guy was taking out his book, what was he going to do now then? He sighed softly and looked down at the grass with serious eyes, nah he could not think more about the hunting...he just had to find a new prey, maybe a small rabbit was still around? Yeah it was okay...rabbit was good. But they all made him think about Amicus as it was now, it was a little sad.

“Look, help me get a fire going good and let’s just say ‘To Hell with what’s done!’ Rapskus!”

Chris looked up when the guy talked, he examined him in silence and then he frowned a little when he used the magic to make some fire. It sure was going slowly to make that wood burn good. The were sighed deeply and stood up to walk over to the werewolf, he casually began to gather a few smaller old broken pieces of bark and brances from trees.

"You will never get a fresh brance to burn right away, you need dry material for that" he told lowly and gestured the hand over the fire...he had whispered something and a spark of fire left his hand and striked the wood he just added. He knew this spell inside and out because he used it daily. As he was done and sat down in the grass and examined his own wet clothes, it was going to take time to dry this.

The boy pulled the shirt over his head and threw it over a branche in a tree close to them, then he stretched the arms and his ears twitched a little. Quickly followed by a loud growl from his stomach as a reminder that he was really hungry.

Logan wasn’t exactly impressed with the fact the boy knew the spell, it was a pretty common one that probably half the people in Imythess knew; but the fire was good anyways.

“Bygones.” He said, throwing his hands up in the air as he plopped down on the ground. His newfound acquaintance was apparently a really young hunter, one with at least a bit of knowledge of food preservation.

“The fresher piece is still good as long as it ignites, it will be a bit slower to burn and we can keep adding dry wood to it, maybe keep it going for a night as long as we keep the ashes away.” He sighed, his head throbbing just a little bit less. Confrontation meant thinking, thinking meant redirected blood flow to the head, and blood to the head meant much worse headache. No thinking was a very good thing.

He sighed as the cat-kid’s stomach growled, he obviously wasn’t kidding about the hunting for food thing.

“Damn you, conscience, you accursed thing.” He grumbled to himself with a shake of his head before plopping backwards, his hat covering his eyes.

“Look, if you’re really that hungry, I have a bag a few clearings back. I’m not entirely trusting with new people, but a fire is an easy thing to replace if the need calls for it.” He sighed; a premature regret to what he was about to say,

“The bag has food, not much mostly hard bread and a canteen. We can go get it, you can shut your stomach up and we wait around a fire for the water in our clothes to evaporate. Sound good?” He wasn’t a fan of new people in general, which was a bit odd since after about twenty minutes he could consider somebody his friend, and damn his conscience if it let somebody starve when he had some semblance of food.

Chris did not really say anything to the first words, he just watched the fire when it came to life more and more. A little now and then he picked up a small twig and threw it into the flames to add a little energy. It was going to be a nice fire and he could slowly feel his skin dry. He sighed a little and laid down on his back with the eyes closed, he was feeling hungry. Well he could survive.

He opened the eyes and looked to the werewolf when he was talking, he blinked a few times and then he sat back up again to examine him cusiously. "You sure? I mean I would not say no, I am really hungry. I will repay you in kind...I can hunt something for you in return when am not as hungry" he smiled a little and then he swallowed a little. "I am sorry I attacked you before, I was just surprised and afraid that someone was going to kill me" he confessed, it was important to be careful in this forest sometimes.

“So, I’m guessing with that smell on you, you aren’t Alpha?” He groaned a bit before rolling backwards, pinning his hat to his head as he stood up with a sigh. He had noticed something had been a bit off about the cat-like boy. He had that certain smell of wolfish origin, it was pretty much a guess that he hung out with wolves. And Logan didn’t really care to truly find out, no matter what, this kid didn’t seem to be so much of an Alpha as he was, maybe, a Delta. Pretty powerful, but lowering his head with the slightest bit of good will.

Oh, well… probably nothing he could do about it, most likely nothing he would do about it. Maybe it was some conditioning from nurture versus nature, and nurture won out with a hunter that didn’t really want to show aggressiveness. Oh well, unless he started a sudden change in personality… it wasn’t really Logan’s problem. However, he was taking it upon himself to feed the odd child, almost like adopting a new member to his pack… wherever they were. Schimmel liked to run around Norwood with the pack, but it was hard to keep track of that scent.

“Come on, kid. I’ll feed ya what I can spare.” He said, kicking some dirt up and into the fire to snuff it out before turning and plotting a path, first stopping by to pick up the glasses he had left at the tree, and then forward onto where he left his backpack.

It was pretty bulky, and was hard to account for when he didn’t really have much stealth to begin with, even for looking the part, he still couldn’t seem to properly get hunting like a wolf… then again he could never keep track of his pack, which might just have something to do with it.

“So, I’m guessing with that smell on you, you aren’t Alpha?”

Chris blinked a little to the question, he smelled on himself for a moment but did not really notice anything out of normal. "Well yeah I am alpha, why you ask that?" he asked back and frowned a little, then he yawned softly and stretched the arms over his head.

"I have my pack, they come when I call for them to. They are a part of my family, I do not really work in the ways you might think I do. I still are much in contact with my human side, after all...they told me to give in to my animal nature is never a good thing" he sighed a little and ran one hand thought the messy hair.

The boy watched as the werewolf snuffed out the fire, then he slowly stood up and looked after him...this wood was okay to use since it was now dry. So he could just take it with them. He casually picked the pices of wood up and walked after him. He did not seem to mind much the heat still left, not after all the hard training with Kaess.

“Tsk, no matter what you do, you’ll always end back up with animalistic instinct.” He said, replacing a scoff with words at the cat-boy’s comment. The smell of wolves was king of mixed in to Logan’s own scent, he hung around his pack quite a bit, but it was always a pain to get them to actually help him with doing something. He could have easily jumped onto the deer’s back of he had the pack to lead it to him; but no, instead they wanted to go and run around, hunt some food. The “alpha” of the pack was at least interested in helping his brother out.

Logan just shrugged the thoughts away, returning to the real world and the path towards his bag. It took about a minute, but he eventually saw his bag leaning against a tree, partially hidden behind a bush. He picked up his pace to a steady jog towards the bag before kneeling down next to it and undoing a strap to open it. Inside, nothing but a few canteens and loafs of bread. Again he thought himself pretty stupid looking at the contents of the bag, no spare clothes except for a green and white jacket.

Oh well, nourishment was always something required in the world… at least, that was what he was telling himself to keep from yelling his head off about something so stupidly simple. He had heard something about an elf village in the trees; maybe he’d go and try to buy some new clothes later.

He tossed a loaf to the cat-boy before taking out a half empty canteen for himself and taking a drink.

“So, what are you, exactly? You look like some kind of were.” He asked, not really recognizing the scent that the kid carried from his were half. He had a guess, he just wanted to know if it was right or not.

“Tsk, no matter what you do, you’ll always end back up with animalistic instinct.”

"That is not true, it is not true" he said, but he did not sound so sure of himself. He lowered the eyes as he walked, was he just like a wolf or a tiger? Had his own animal side taken over of him? Just like mom had warned him to be careful about, he did not know how it felt so he was not at all sure.

The weretiger snatched the bread in the air and quickly started to eat it, not at all as nice as it would have been with some really nice juicy meat. He tried to imagine that he was not eating bread, but nice juicy meat. But that did not work and it was just bread, well he did not say anything. No use in doing that now. The kid slowly sat down on the ground and leaned himself against a tree. He had placed the pieces of wood on the ground in a nice spot for a campfire, they where still a little smoke coming from them. ]

“So, what are you, exactly? You look like some kind of were.”

Chris looked to the werewolf and his ears twitched a little, then he nodded. "Yeah I am a were, I'm a weretiger" he replied slowly and took another large bite from the loaf of bread.

“Okay, then…” Logan said with a sniff of the air and a sense of semi accomplishment, “If I’m right, then that is what tiger smells like. Sort of got a hint of cat in there, mixed human and a bit of what I can only begin to guess is Tiger.” He sounded a bit like a sort of connoisseur of smells, at least in his own mind. Smelling the air as a wine-taster would sip the grape-like beverage… and yet he could never understand how anybody could begin to want the vile tasting liquids anywhere near their mouths.

“Were Tiger, Were Lyger, Were Myger, Were Fyger.” He said with a sing-songy tune as he bobbed his head from side to side with each phonic syllable. If what he read-slash-heard was true, there was pretty much a were everything. His mind drifted away for a moment, going down a path of wondering about weres, scatting slightly to goofy homonyms he made up on the spot as his mind drifted, trying to wonder just what he was thinking about.

He ran a hand under his hat and through the hair which had turned to be more of a gray to match the fur which covered his body, absently checking to make sure that the strip of cloth tied around the part of his hair which hung about half-way down his back was holding before remembering, quickly, what he had forgotten.

“Oh, yeah. I was just talking with you, wasn’t I?” He said honestly and rhetorically, returning to the world of unfortunate realism. He was wishing the sun would go down, but the shade from the trees really helped him with that nuisance. The hanging, burning nuisance which always haunted every step bathed in its supposedly glorious light… He looked up through the leaves to the blue sky, wondering just when it would turn to its wonderful black with a pale white orb hanging in the sky.

“Hurm… Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?” He spurted randomly, being at a loss for normal everyday words… well, for him it was a word often frequented, it helped keep him sane.
