| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Dragonite was mindlessly flying around until he saw this clear blue river. Interesting...a river that looks much too clean. Maybe I could take a break... He flew down and landed with a thud, cautiously tasting the water. It was sweet, sweeter than any water he had tasted in the Dragon's Den, his home. But still...why was the water that clear and sweet? It was too unusual, but still, it's water! And water meant food. So Dragonite went to look for any deer or rabbit. There weren't many animals to hunt around here. All he caught was a mouse. Something was suspicious about this place, especially since the water is so clear. Dragonite sighed inwardly. He didn't have the time to speculate on the place and it's mysteries. He decided to camp out here for a while, and searched for some shelter or wood. |

Zephyr sighed, dipping his sore feet into the cool, clear river. It was refreshing. He felt like he had been walking for miles, and in reality, he probably had been. He had a poor sense of distance, for, until only recently, he had never been far from the city. Sure, he spent ages in school, but the facts learned in school are different from knowledge. Knowledge comes with experience, and in experience, Zephyr was lacking. He carried with him less than the bare minimum. He was clothed, but his heavier equipment was kept further up the river’s shore. As he was, he wore only trousers. On a rock, perhaps 20 yards from his person, sat his tunic, an overcoat, a pair of mostly-trashed cloth shoes, and a sheathed blade, one that he never learned to use, and that he supposed he never would. It was a beautiful day, but all its beauty could never truly be understood by Zephyr. The fields were green. The sky was a soothing blend of blues and whites. The distant mountains were a deep, sleepy green, with slate-gray outcrops of stone, and cool white peaks. The river before him was a dazzling blue, the color of a lapis lazuli stone, crystal clear. Zephyr could see easily to the riverbed. However, the pallet seemed almost plain to him. He could not enjoy nor comprehend green or blue, or red or yellow. Zephyr saw only shades of gray. His eyes were not like those of elves or men. Sighing, he recoiled from the soothing stream his feet, and rolled back onto the grassy riverbank. In the distance, he thought he saw a speck of movement, but he dismissed it, and rested his head on the warm earth beneath him. ((OOC: This is Tyler/Tazdril/whatever you call me)) |

The first thing Dragonite noticed when he made another lap around the river was the new elf that had came to the river. He was tallish and very pale, like a vampire, almost. But his ears were definitely one of a elf. The elf boy had no weapons, as Dragonite noted that they were on the riverbank. He was dipping his feet into the strange, too clear river. It seemed to be healing it. Maybe the water was part some spring or something. Maybe he could tell me where the city is... No. That was a stupid thought. He was mute ever since he hatched from his egg. It was impossible to talk to any creature but dragons, Pokémon, and anything that could understand his body motions. Pokémon...Dragonite sighed. He hadn't seen them since he left Dragon's Den, and they were definitely not around these lands. But he still hadn't found much food or shelter. And partners were so much better to travel around with, he decided to approach the elf with caution. As he came closer, he noticed how beautiful the sky and planes in the distance were. They were a perfect green and blue, with a gentle breeze and a warm sun to match. The elf was now resting on the earth, since it was such a nice day. The ground made a nice thumping sound under his feet. So, in order to be less threatening and friendly, he raised one of his forepaws in a hello motion near the elf. (OOC: Dragonites are not threatening looking as you can see from the avatar and he is mute. ^^; ) |

At first, Zephyr didn’t notice the creature that approached him. Of course, his sensitive elf-like ears heard the mighty thud the dragon made when he lit nearby, but, in his state of relaxation, Zephyr chose to ignore it. His relaxation was broken, however, when he shifted his body and flicked open his eyelids, intending only a quick blink. What he saw before him was cause to keep his eyes open. A tall, lizard-like creature – Zephyr would have called it a dragon – stood before him. He couldn’t tell from his position on the ground, but the creature was roughly a foot taller than him. It didn’t look threatening. In fact, it might have been considered cute by many, but he had never encountered such an animal, and he had been taken by surprise. Zephyr’s grogginess disappeared almost instantly as he hopped to his feet, staring at the dragon and taking a few cautious steps backwards, testing it, waiting for its next move. |

(OOC: THE DRAGONITE IS ONLY 7'3"! THE DRAGONITE IS ONLY 7'3"!) Dragonite was disappointed when he had frightened the elf. One thing, the elf was almost as tall as he was, and he thought that he had looked friendly. The elf hopped three steps backwards. Dragonite took this as a sign of cautiousness, so he tried to act even friendlier by offering the mouse it had caught. He hoped it worked. Then he arranged the grass on the ground into some sort of cushion and sat down on it, making another for the elf. It's a bummer that I can't talk, since I'm mute. I don't even know his name, and he doesn't know mine. Ah ha! I know. He took his quarterstaff and searched for a large rock. When he found one along the shore near the elf, he dipped his quarterstaff into the water and wrote in scratchy handwriting in basic: My name is Dragonite. What's yours? |

Zephyr, still shocked and cautious, eyed the creature as it made its next movements. He couldn't trust such a large animal to pose no threat; this he learned from his many conservation elven instructors. Zephyr, you are food for anything larger than you. This is the manner of the food chain. If you don't want to make a meal for an ogre, stay on the top. If you see something larger than yourself, don't trust it for a moment. Zephyr had lived by this law always. He wouldn't let his guard down, not for the monster before him. It took a time for him to realize what the dragon was doing. For a moment, seeing movement near his possessions, he thought it might have been robbing him. The dragon seemed, upon further inspection, to be rather running a long wooden rod along the rock nearby. Intrigued, Zephyr crept nearer. He saw as the dragon moved moved away that scrawled onto the rock, drawn with water from the blessed stream, was a message, written in common, seemingly addressing Zephyr himself. "My name is Dragonite. What's yours?" Zephyr was surprised by the creature's, supposedly called Dragonite, display of intelligence. Still wary, he lowered himself to a sitting position and stared at it for a long time. Finally, he spoke. "My name is Zephyr." |

Dragonite was delighted and disappointed when he heard his reply. Oh drat, he can talk! He can talk! But at least he replied. Zephyr, unfortunately, was still wary of him. Maybe because he was so big? At least he could read. He wrenched the rock out of the ground from the river. It wasn't rooted very strongly into the ground, so it came out easily. He walked back over to the spot and dipped his stick back into the water. Where are you from? Could you help me? I need to get to a city and I also need food. He smiled and pointed to the rock. Obviously, the elf didn't make any sign that it wanted the mouse, so he swooped down and ate it. It wasn't alot...but it would do for a snack. What he needed was a bird or a rabbit or even a deer to make a proper meal. And he still had no shelter. Dragonite hoped that the elf would pick up that he was mute and he needed a city badly. The worse case scenario was that Zephyr attacked him. Although he was the bigger animal, elves were quick and strong. In his hungry condition and if Zephyr was in pretty good condition, he could easily outlast him. At least he was sitting, and Dragonite hoped he was non-threatening enough that he wouldn't scare Zephyr. |

Zephyr caught on fast to Dragonite's method of communication. It was obvious to him that it possessed intelligence on a level similar to his own. He supposed he could converse with it, but he certainly wouldn't trust it. He couldn't trust it yet. "Where are you from? Could you help me? I need to get to a city and I also need food." As Dragonite pointed to the message, Zephyr was already putting thought into his reply. Why could such an animal wish to enter a city? If there was anything Zephyr knew, it was that he would likely be mistaken for a monster. "I am from far away," he said, answering the first question rather vaguely, before pausing briefly to puzzle over the others. "The nearest city," he began again, "is above us. Cascadia --- the City in the Sky. It's easily accessible if you've got wings." |

Dragonite was luckier than he thought. Wings! I got wings! Of course, since I'm a Dragonite, the Dragon/Flying Pokémon. Maybe I could ask him if he needed help. He scratched on the rock again another question. Do you need help? He wondered if Zephyr would answer, with him being so skittish. It was completely obvious that the elf was trained in some sort of rules, one being to not trust Dragonites? No, probably since he was so big compared to the elf, it was a rule not to trust big things. But yet, he wasn't sure. Dragonite knew it would be stupid to make assumptions too soon. Do he decided to bide his time and wait until the elf answered. If he ever answered. |

"Do I need help?" Zephyr wondered aloud. He wasn't sure how to convey the meaning of the question, but the obvious one knocked against his brain like the rapping of a doorknocker. He needed some way up to the city, of course. He had no wings, and funds were minimal for him. He needed to preserve what little gold he had; he had been getting by mostly by stealing and ripping off those around him. He could use a ride, but could he trust Dragonite? A thousand scenarios played through his mind, terrible scenarios of falling from hundred of feet, or being carried off to some cave to be food, or being torn apart by strong reptilian jaws. Then again, the creature was large enough that, had it intended to kill him, it would require little effort to overpower him and likely would have by now. It was harmless enough in appearance, and Zephyr was tempted to trust him. Finally, after much contemplation, and a considerable pause since Dragonite's question, he responded. "Yes... I could use help." ((OOC: Bah. Wrong account. Sorry)) |
