Ogichi wiped his hand down his face, resisting the urge to groan. As far as he could tell, he was lowering his standards. Sure, he knew that the world required money, and he usually forgot to take anything from the corpses of the people he killed, too caught up in the moment of killing them, perhaps, and yeah he did often carry out assassinations or do the tried and proven job of being a blade-for-hire mercenary, but for him, protecting a fairy from having bandits very possibly ripping her wings off for pay was just out there for him. Not a hostile being in any true way, yet he was still protecting her. They had only entered Norwood Forest a few hours ago, and there had been word that bandit activity was increasing. And how the dainty winged being managed to find out that he was willing to actually do minor bodyguard work like this was beyond him. Maybe Alice had told somebody? He didn’t know, but that was the only theory he had for the moment, and one of the very few things, along with the need more money, that was keeping him from taking Mayuri and slicing his hire’s neck wide open. He looked up through the mild canopy of the forest with a look of disinterest, his letifer blade strapped to his back and entirely wrapped in a white cloth which hid its form. “Come out and try something already!” He cried to the bandits from boredom. There was no reply, no bolt from a crossbow narrowly missing them, not even a significant rustling of any fauna, just the natural sounds of an unfortunately peaceful place. He let a disgruntled sigh come from his lips, his face not currently donning his natural maddened smile, he knew, he could just feel it in the pit of his stomach, the fairy was probably going to say something to him. |

This was not what Mirage had in mind at all. Her trip through norwood would have been a peaceful one, filled with no action, no adventure and no bandits. But the first day she had arrived in the area she had a run in with one of the leaders, a run in that made her a target for their group. See he was trying to steal from a small group of travaling merchants and mirage could not just let that happen. So she stepped in and decided to show him a little of her magic abilities. Now the entire bandit section led under him was on the look out for her. Sure she could take them on if she wanted, but thats the thing, she did not want to. She much rather have some strong man thats done the job before do all the killing. So thats what she did. Mirage had heard about a few people for hire that were 'bodyguards'. In a sense mirage thought that this was funny, but she hired one anyway. But he was not what she had expected at all. Mirage had expected a big guy, equipped with hammers axes and other tools of slaughter. This man was skinny and thin, with odd white skin and a sense of pure evil around him. But what could she do about it, her money had paid his services, she must now deal with him till they got safely away. Walking through the thick woods was not all bad. After all she was of fae decent and nature just ran through her blood. She loved all the flowers and wild life. The birds chirping over head and the rustle of small animals in the bushes. She just loved the calm serenity of this place. But her friend across from her, who she didnt even know the name of, look bored and disgusted. Like his time was not worth protecting her. She did not have a problem with him not likeing her, she didnt care, but he had a job to do and to her he should be a little more happy about it. After all he was the one getting paid to kill, and from the looks of the man he loved to do just that, get payed and kill things. So whats your name? No one told me when i hired you. The words left her mouth instantly, breaking the silence in a heartbeat. she wasnt sure how he would respond, or if he even would. But she was not going to walk all the way to norwood in silence, that just was not her nature. Maybe this was what got on alot of peoples nerves. Her need to talk and never shut up. This man would be in for a time with her if he decided to stay quiet through out their small little adventure, if you could call it that. |

He knew it, he had mentally predicted that she would say something before the first bandit attack, but her words really made him stops. The fingers of his left hand wriggled as if to try and strangle her, but the pale white hand stayed straight in front of Horo’s body, killing her would be bad for money, and losing money was bad. “So, you hired a psychopathic mass-homicidal demon to be your bodyguard and you don’t even know my name?” He sighed as his posture slouched, his hands rubbing his temples, surely with all the various attacks he solely committed to against Kellen and Cascadia at least tales of a white monster would have begun travelling around. “Lord, Alice must have told somebody about the mercenary work.” He said quietly as he stood up straight, stretching his arms a bit and cursing in his literal grind of a demonic language. He was definitely not interested in the current situation, though he filled inclined to answer anyway. “Horo Ogichi.” Gods, how long had it been since he said his full name? It had to have been a few years, yeah, he was fighting somebody who asked who he was, he shouted his name and then impaled the idiot with a longsword, straight through the heart and then sliced him in half. “I thought this place was supposed to be crawling with bandits.” He said, looking around. They were in a clearing, an obvious spot for an ambush, and he quickly drew his sword. Any that were here would probably be the beginning, if there leader was smart enough to set up and ambush point in an obvious spot. Probably crossbowmen. The white long cloth fell onto the ground, looping up and under his right sleeve where most of it was wrapped around, if they were ranged, he’d just have to show them one of the things that made him a monster. He grinded a bit, an unsure look on his face. |

She could tell that the man was in a foul pissy mood, if thats what you could call it. All she wanted to know was what his name was, and he had to go and be all rude and mean to her. This was most likely the last time she would hire a body guard. She did not really need one, she could handle herself, but this situation called for someone with a little more than just magic, and her odd little friend here was just that. She could tell from the giant sword on his back and the simple fact the the love of death reaked off the man, as if he had bathed in the smell of death. But her place was not to judge, she had hired him and so she must put up with his rude comments. Well nice to meet you Horo, I am Mirage. And im so glad you could join me on my adventure through norwood. She really was sincere about her statement, but also a little annoyed at how the man was handling the situation. So a hint of sarcasem was heard in her tiny calm voice. As they walked on they came upone a clearing ahead in the woods. A apparently Horo's skills as a body guard kicked in for he stepped forward and unwrapped his sword from his back. The sword was griped in his hand as if ready to attack. Mirage was not going to just stand there and watch if anything were to happen, so following suit she took out her wand and readied it. Walking forward and moving slow she kept her eyes open, watching horo's back. Then somethig caught her attention. Horo look out! Behind you! A arrow sped from the bushes to the side and flew right at horos back, it was kind of slanted between him and her. They were trying to seperate them, to get a better chance at the fairy, but she was going to show that she to could do something. Not knowing if her guard could get the arrow in time she sent a bolt of magic missile flying at the arrow, shattering it in two and sending the pieces flying past horo. She turned back to ready herself as a shout from a rather large group of men came from the other side of the bushes. Here they come! shouted mirage, her fingers itching to blast some bandits. |

As she shouted, Horo spun around, his form a blur as he came to look at the arrow coming at him, he was lifting his hand to catch it when it broke in half and split apart around him. The fairy was quick with her magic and with a good aim as well. Horo smirked, nothing here really knew what he was, it was a time to educate, and he began his classic move, swirling the blade beside him a few times before launching it into the group of bandits that were coming out from their hiding spot. The blade impaled two simultaneously, and very shortly after. The pale white fiend who launched the blade in his odd style was gone with the grinding sound which made up his slang of a demonic tongue. He appeared again, the last thing the impaled bandits saw before he sliced the blade through their heads with a smile. As the blood rained down, he turned to another bandit who had stopped at the gruesome sight and clenched its skull, crushing it with draconic might as he quickly lifted the body up and chucked it through a line of the foolish rogues, knocking them all to the ground. One of the things that was most accurate about Ogichi, was calling him a monster, the very thing of evil that should only be locked away in nightmares. He laughed his mad laugh as he turned and quickly threw the blade at the bandit closest to Mirage, simply to catch the attention of a few bandits with the white cloth in one of their allies. The smell of bloodshed was already well in the air, and it would only grow the more he fought, but it was a good way to tide him away from killing the one who actually hired him to bodyguard. The white fiend disappeared again with that loud grinding sound and reappeared in front of the bandit he just killed with his blade, the lives he took within such a short period of time seemed to make the bandits freeze a bit in fear as they looked around, he sliced the next one he could with a non-fatal blow, so that if they managed to escape, he could turn to dust before his master, and the pain would distract him from the fact the wound wasn’t even bleeding as the magical venom of the blade began to work. |

This man was absolutly a good choice in choosing for a body guard. Right as the bandit attack started horo sprang into action, turning to try and deflect the arrow mirage had shattered herself. Apparently he would not need any help in this battle, but she would provide it anyway. What good is a guard if he is dead. But she was amazed at his speed and agility, it was as if his body was moving so fast you could hardly even see his form. He flashed back and forth slashing and cutting, blood flying all over the clearing in the woods. She was actually afraid of the man now, evil seemed to be pouring from the man. But the bandits did not forget about her. As her guard leveled their friends, some turned their attention to her, hoping to get the job done before the great white demon made it to them. A group of three wielding sharp swords rushed at her, all ready to slice her in half. But she had another thing in mind. Her wand still in hand she moved it back and forth, waving it like a whip. When suddenly a long sash of flames emitted from the tip of the wand, creating a flaming whip. It lashed about, hitting two of the three bandits across the face, burning there face. The third bandit stopped and looked at her, his eyes going small and deathly afraid. The scene around them was gore, blood and even body parts could be seen laying around the clearing. While horo was clearing out the rest of the scum mirage laughed as the man ran from her and found his place dead in the center of the white demons attack. His life was over before he even realized what had happened. |

Horo watched as what little amount of bandits with any common sense took their opportunity to run as far and as fast as they could from the two, Ogichi just sort of half scoffed at the display, hoping they would have been those dumber-than-ogre types who would fight until they died. Oh, well. Something like the stupidity of bandits was one of those things that war rather stupid to try an account for, though what primarily interested him was how many bandits were the for a first assault ambush point. Whoever was leading them had sense, too bad he’d probably get killed and then everything go back to business as usual in the Forest. He shrugged at the remaining ones cowardice, gave a slightly depressed sigh that already there was going to be a time without killing, and placed the large blade on his shoulder. “Allright, so if that was the first wave, the second will be bigger and probably a lot angrier. Probably crossbowmen shooting at us from branches to at least distract us while another group sneaks up behind us trying to kill us quietly. Should be fun as long as you don’t die.” He was quickly finding this job pretty entertaining, especially if there was a newer larger bandit group in the Norwood Forest. He chuckled a bit at the thought of an actually organized bandit group. It was almost like a wise ogre. “So, then, Mirage. Let’s not keep suicidal bandits waiting. There’s probably going to be a few more ambush points before we get out of Norwood, or even to the elf city… by the way, where are we going?” With the sudden want to kill sated from his mind for the time being, Horo was feeling a lot more friendly, especially at the thought that this bodyguard job might actually prove to be fun. |

Mirage watched as the remaning bandits took up their arms and started to run for their lives. She go tthe giggles as she watched the one closest to her try and run out of th eclearing, triping of his own clumsyness and hurdle out of the tree line. These bandits were not what she had expected after her first run in with them. She was expecting little more of a fight, and not a slaugther. But with her Guard Horo, the bandits goal was hindered and made a bit harder to complete. Placing a hand over her head, her wand still in her right hand, she turned to horo who was now replacing the blade on his back. Well that was not that bad now was it? It was actually a little fun. you think they got more waiting for us? Truthfully speaking she thought they would have run and hide, fearing them. But knowing the density of bandits thought proccess it was sure that another ambush would be on its way. So she kept her wand out for good measure. Taking a few steps foward Horo asked her were in fact their destination was. This was what she was hoping he would not ask, but she would tell him anyway. Of course the whole truth was not needed, just a little bit, the basics. Well imadvancing my studies in magic and alchmey and need to get some supplies from a mage in norwood village. Im suppossed to meet him in the tavern. She hoped the man would still be there for what she needed was important, and she did not want this trip to be for nothing. |

“Mages, smart as hell and like to avoid combat as much as possible, considering their general frailty in close combat.” Horo said happily and from experience from his several run-ins with mages of all typed. One of the things they loved most was their elemental studies, though some were actually dumb enough to try and capture Ogichi, he smiled at the memories of the cocky spellcasters, his thoughts pushing him to wonder if some went rogue. “Depending on the overall charisma of the bandit lord that managed to put together a large force of dim-witted thieves, there is a slight chance that he may be or may have convinced a spellcaster to aiding them for riches and the ability to test out new magic.” Horo wasn’t really paying attention to see if the fairy was at all surprised that the homicidal maniac could actually be analytical of the situation, he just naturally assumed she wasn’t, since he wasn’t trying to impress her, he was merely thinking out loud. “Which could mean that if we end up coming across their main camp you could find some of the things you are looking for, or trade them off the mage for some more supplies.” It wasn’t until he finished talking that another thought came across, he looked around at the trees, wondering if these bandits were the same he worked for about a year ago, which could mean that they are a lot dumber than previously expected, or that there could have been a considerably larger group and about half of them were smart enough to run silently away in fear and pray to whatever god they worshipped that he wouldn’t hunt them down. “Depending on when you decide to halt my services, I’m probably going to come back through here just to find the bandit camp and slaughter them for the hell of it. Surprisingly a good deed while also letting me kill a few dozen more idiots.” He shrugged a bit, openly stating what he was planning. |

Mirage could not help but smile. At first horo seemed to be a vile, evil rampaging man who felt nothing but hate anger and the thrill of killing. Which she was not putting past him, after seeing what he had done to all the bandits she absoulutly was afraid of the man, just not in the way that most people would be. she kinda liked th eman, he was a different type of fighter. And she could tell that he was getting a little less anoyed bye her. His jokes and sense of humor showed her that. Well if any more bandits show up im sure that you can handle them, right. she wanted to incourage the man, for he had to protect her the rest of the way and of course, she wanted to befriend the man. Walking further, trying to pay attention, her mind began to wander back to horo. He was intriguing and in a way she was interested. Trying no tto piss him off she kept her mouth shut for a few minuets, but her curosity and playfullness got the best of her. so horo, what made you go into the body guard bussiness. I mean no offense but you dont seem like the type of person to risk your life to save others. however im a grateful that you have for me. she smiled at him as she finally replaced her wand in her belt. A odd feeling rushed over her, she had no clue what it was or where it had come from, but she suddenly felt sad and depressed. looking back to horo she stopped. do you feel anything odd? i suddenly feel depressed and out of it. This feeling was one that she did not get often, and never in a situation like this. she looked around, the mage idea horo spoke of entered her mind. what if they had a magician, one who had more skill than her. |

“The bodyguard job is simply because even I can’t just kill everything and take what I need, when I kill I usually get carried away and then things start getting destroyed and it ends up being a wasted endeavor. If I bodyguard, however, there is often a good chance that not only do I get to kill people, I also get paid doing so.” He said with the nice mad smile on his face as he spoke of his profession with joy, “And mostly, it boils down to being a type of merc work. Body guarding, assassination, fighting for money.” He shrugged with a slight sense of accomplishment. “I’ve lost it; do you think I’d really be a complete victim to depression?” He shrugged off the chill of depression with his nice crazy smile, sometimes it really paid to be deranged and occupy his thoughts with the sensation of slaughter. “My guess, somebody’s probably jacking with you by using magic. I’m pretty much happy ninety percent of the time and that’s mostly before my first kill of the day. Unfortunately this falls into the category of body guarding since the mind is part of the body and if it’s being affected then that usually means I’m not doing my job right, which is just one of the many things which leads me to killing whoever is responsible.” Again, he shrugged with a sort of carefree air before taking his blade and swinging it idly next to him, away from the fairy and creating the eerie sound of the metal slicing through air and the ground. “So, if this is some kind of aura, that would mean the caster is nearby, or it could be something simply directed at you and if I actually were sane, I still wouldn’t be afflicted. Either way the caster is probably going to die.” |

She tried to listen intently, as he spoke of his work and enjoying his job. It was odd how someone could love killing so much, but then again some people were just different than others. Although she did not approve of the killing and senseless slaughter it was good that he found a outlet for it, his bodyguard job. It was a good way to earn some gold, meet new people and kill everything he wanted with out being hunted for it. It was actually a very smart plan. However it was hard for her to pay attention for the pain that was now gripping her heart. Horo did not seem effected by it, nor did he seem to care, but she did. The feeling was growing in her and it felt like twenty tons of pressure was lowering its self on her. Umm..well it sounds like you got...things figured out. Haha its funny....its funny how i thought you were some crazed killer with out anysense, ...from what i can tell you got alot fo sense. It was hard for her to talk smoothly, her words were choaked out and pauses found their way in between her words. But she kept going, trying to get closer to the feeling. Suddenly it hit her, like a wall out of nowhere. She was being effected by a emotion spell, a strong one at that. she tried to pinpoint the area it was being cast from. Every long range spell left a magic trail. She stopped an dclosed her eyes, trying to sense the location in which the caster was. With a point she opened her eyes and held her pointer finger forward. Horo, i do believe someone is just behind those bushes. It may be another ambush. she took out her wand and waited for horo to make a move. |

“Sense, yes. Conscience, no.” He chuckled in response to the fairy’s words as he watched her close her eyes and point before saying somebody was hiding behind the bushes. He turned to where she pointed and scoffed slightly, figuring that one of his theories was right before shaking his head. He stopped for a moment to ponder if he should deal with the potential bandit with a more hands-on approach, like strangling it for a while with his index finger and thumb, but cast off that idea while remembering two things. The first was that the fairy did have magical powers, the second was that bandits should not have magic. “Huh… if it’s an ambush, more specifically of bandits… It really speaks to the charisma of the bandit lord if he really managed to recruit some moron to…” He paused for a moment, spell casters were generally smart. Sure mages were most commonly whiny cocky annoyances, but even they would be smart enough to not simply hide behind a bush. “to recruit some spell slinging idiots.” He said happily before taking his blade and throwing it in such a manner that (without cutting the cloth which was connected to its handle) would almost absolutely inevitably cut through the bushes to reveal whatever was behind there. As the blade reached closer to its mark, Horo began to pull black on the long white cloth, not realizing that there was an arrow being shot at the moment and pinning the cloth to the ground before it could so much as hit the bushes. Yup, this was an ambush, and Horo sighed sarcastically before shrugging. “Time to have some fun.” He mused before popping some muscles and ligaments throughout his body. He might not have the least bit of any actual unarmed combat, but he could just through wild powerful punches and catch arrows and bolts to make up for that. |
