Tresia was in control today and it was a day for fun. They were at the Oasis and it was closing in on the evening. The perfect time to swim in the oasis in her new swim clothes. The water was warm from the day and the hot air would dry her off when she got out. She and Tolmar were on their way back from on of their last trips. Unfortunately there was no return cargo, so they had been fairly cheep traveling across the desert. Most of the time they traveled as a jackle to avoid attention. Still they were at civilization again and home wouldn't be too far off. She stepped into the water enjoying the feel as it flowed up around her. She noted a few other people also wandering around the shore. She only went deep enough so she could lay down in the water. The first star could be seen as she dried off and put on her normal desert garments heading to a campfire, where she would make dinner and chat with some other people. |

This place was, as surely most people would quickly agree, a completely wretched place of unbearable heat. There had been nothing but sand for miles, and how the lone boy managed to make it all the way to a patch of green on his own was simply an astounding mystery, one he didn’t really want to question. He brought himself, with the last bits of his energy and collapsed at the water’s edge, moving his long sleeves back as quickly as his tired body would allow and drank as much water as he could before turning over and completely collapsing on his back. He had been traveling with a caravan, but they had encountered one of the desert’s dust storms and he got separated from them for, apparently, several days. He didn’t even have a clue where to begin walking, so he simply picked a direction and tried to stick with it as best as possible. There is no telling if he went around in circles around the oasis, nor was there really and care or complaint;, he was just so utterly relieved that he had managed to survive several scorching days and freezing nights on his own and actually survive! Looking up at the night sky was beautiful in the desert, though. A calm serene picture of sparkling and twinkling lights of varying colors, though most were yellow and white, there were several that were blue or red which accented the sky very nicely. He chuckled a bit, nearly passing out at the water side before his rabbit ears picked up the sounds of chatter, there were people! He sat up, looking around trying to figure out where they were, it didn’t take long for him to see the glowing orange light of a campfire. He shot up to his feet and ran to it, stumbling a bit at first but quickly made it over, collapsing on the ground near the fire, taking several of the people around it by surprise. “So schön, so bequem, so angenehm!” He chirped happily at the warmth of the flame, just lying there, relishing its warmth. Nobody really seemed to complain, just a light scattered chuckle that a boy with rabbit-ears popped out of nowhere. |

OOC: Will be using babel fish for translating things back and forth as I don't really know German, which is what I assume that is. If I am wrong just says so. Tresia's ears perked up as she was probably one of the few people who knew what was said. She and Tolmar always spent time studying languages just so they could talk and deal with anyone. It had paid off several times and now it seemed learning one was going to make the evening more interesting. "Wie interessant Sie don' t scheinen wie die Art, das zu sprechen?" Thinking to herself, 'How interesting a boy with rabbit ears. Wonder how he got those well I guess I will find out after I find out why he speaks the black tongue.' 'You just can't leave things alone I hope nothing bad happens because of this. People who use that can be dangerous.' 'Oh come on he looks harmless.' 'Look at his clothes obviously someone didn't think so or had some wierd hobbies.' 'Ah that just makes me more curious. Now be quite Tolmar and let us talk.' 'Sigh' |

As he laid next to the fire, a few of the people still laughing, a female voice came from behind him, speaking in the tongue of which he was accustomed to. His black ears perked up as he lifted his head, sitting up and turning around to look up at the female voice. The woman was wearing a bathing suit and seemed to have a rather friendly disposition, though her words confused the tired boy. “Huh? Wie ist das?” He asked with a slight cock of his head off to the side. He didn’t usually think about things like what he didn’t look like he would say, after all, he didn’t really see much of himself. For some reason Chom had kept his away from reflective surfaces. It was one of those mysteries that may never be solved, but he still didn’t really give it much thought, thinking it a bit more odd that this woman would say that. Quickly as the look of confusion had appeared on his face, it was replaced with a steady look of joy. After all, it wasn’t every day that he got to talk to somebody who understood what he said, let alone one who could respond in the same language he could speak. “Sowieso ich bin Amicus, Vergnügen Sie kennenzulernen” He chirped happily as he stood up, bowing slightly as he caught his balance, his sleeves waving in front of him as he looked up to the woman, she didn’t seem quite as tall when he was standing, though she was still easily a foot taller than he was. Then again, he did still have several years to grow, maybe when he was finally done he would be taller than her. His smile had remained unchanged as he held each of his arms at a right angle, allowing the cloth of the sleeves to drop below his waist. |

OOC: Ah babel fish you fail Tresia tried to say "Interesting where did you learn such a language?" But I guess she messed up it is the first time she has used it. First she will try to say "Wait for a short time" She will then try to say this. "I am Tresia nice to meet you. I do not know this language very well? Do you understand common?" Tresia didn't get a response to her question which meant she must have mispronounced something or stringed things together wrong. First she should settle them in. "Wartezeit ein kurze Zeit." The others around the camp seemed to accept Amicus as soon as Tresia sat down with him. They tended to trust others of their kind, as long as it didn't concern money of course. They passed a couple cups of an home brewed desert drink that would keep one warm for the night and replenish much of what could be lost in the day. She in turn passed one of the cups to Amicus. She made her own contribution of some dried meat that was soon cooking by the fire. A few said their thanks and she thanked them in return for the drink. The formalities done she was ready to listen to Amicus again. She saw that the stars were starting to come out in large numbers now and soon the temperature would drop rapidly into the cold of the desert night. She decided to try again at asking questions to see if he at least understood common. 'Hope this one is right. Language is always a tricky thing.' Verstehen Sie Common? She watched this strange person with interest trying to figure him out. She then remembered she was still mostly in her swim suit and started to pull on her thicker desert clothes for the night that would soon be very cold. Her desert clothes where thick cloth perfect for keeping heat in and out during both parts of the desert. She also sat down next to the fire motioning for Amicus to sit beside her. |

“Danke!” Amicus accepted the desert beverage happily, looking down at the beverage, drinking it and feeling a bit warmer already. The drink didn’t really taste bad at all, though perhaps he did finish it a bit quickly. “Ja, ich verstehe sehr gut, gemeinsamen, es ist nur schwer für mich zu sprechen.” He responded joyfully, it wasn’t very often that he met somebody that could understand him, let alone speak his language without either wanting to enslave him or kill him. He smiled as he looked up to the sky, the stars twinkling beautifully an a dark sky un-touched by clouds, the view simply slightly obstructed by a few dark tree leaves. It was a beautiful sight, indeed. In the places he had been to at night so far, it was difficult to see the sky like this, clusters of stars shining through where there had merely been a blue sky. Amicus was practically hypnotized by the sight, the beauty of a night sky lost to him in the past, his old demonic slaver constantly locking the boy in a small metal box. It was sad, to Amicus, that the more he saw all the things he had missed for thirteen years, the only things he learned had been how to fight, and speak in the demonic tongue. Though, he was slowly learning common, it was taking a long time, and some of the words were difficult for him to pronounce, but others weren’t very different from the language he spoke every day. He looked down from his affixation on the night sky and saw Tresia in different clothing sitting by the fire and motioning for him to sit next to her, he moved from where he was sitting and plopped down next to her, looking into the dancing of an actually peaceful fire. “Wo haben Sie gelernt schwarze Zunge?” He asked, the question had been in his mind from when he learned that she could speak his language at all, and he was definitely hoping for an answer. |

She smiled at his answer. "Good that will make conversation easier. I am not that good at speaking the dark tongue." Tresia watched as Amicus looked at the sky. He had a look as someone with a tough past in some way. He was certainly odd looking in those strange clothes of his, but then many people though desert garb was strange, when it was highly practical out here. She watched him sit by the fire. It seemed he was friendly too.
She found the question oddly funny from someone who could understand, but not speak common. "Me. Well I learned the language through books mostly. I am a merchant and traveling around makes it useful to know many languages, but it looks like it was useful learning it since I can talk to you. So what about yourself, how did you learn such a different language, but not Common?" The fire swirled as a bit of wind past through the camp and across the lake. Tresia eyes were filled with curiosity and she was going to satisfy it with as many questions as she could ask Amicus. She could smell the meat she had started and it should be done in another minute or two. |

The expression on Amicus’ face dropped at the question as he looked down at the ground. It was… an uncomfortable thing to simply even think about, anything related to the winged gray demon Chom, his slaver. He didn’t like to think about that monster, but… he wondered if maybe he should talk about it anyway, maybe somebody could convince him on all levels of the mind that the demon was most likely going to leave him alone now. He gave a sort of depressed sigh, not entirely sure, but he eventually decided to talk about it, taking a deep breath as he shook his head and tried to formulate the words. Amicus said a lot, not willingly, the words just sort of poured out one after another as he spoke, sort of like a black waterfall of words. Nothing he said was with a happy tone, and he curled up, wrapping his sleeved arms around his knees tightly, the ends resting lightly on the ground as he stared into the fire, not fully understanding why he was telling somebody he just met all of this. Maybe it was a product of him keeping all of it to himself for so long. He just didn’t know. |

Tresia was horribly surprised about the long explanation. Both she and Tolmar were in agreement that this boy had been in a terrible position well beyond what most could stand. No wonder he was different. It certainly answered her questions, but at the same time it seemed horrible. A few of the other merchants looked over and she simply told them. "Bad memories apparently." They nodded all being used to some hardship in youth. She didn't mention how bad it was and he looked so young too. She had seen people with similar problems and it was horrible when their emotions burst into upset. She usually hadn't dealt with those types, but she had heard of them. She decided to go with what little she new and just improvise. First she got another cup of the desert drink, slowly got him to drink a bit. Once he had the cup in his hands. She moved next to the poor thing and put an arm around him. This was more of a deep instinct than anything else and Tolmar didn't even say a thing. "Now now just relax, nothing will get you here. Everyone here is a survivor and so are you. Now why don't you tell me a happy memory you have and I will tell you the merchant's secret to happiness. If that sounds like a good deal that is? If not just take your time." |

Amicus felt an odd sort of feeling after saying all of that; it was a slow, growing feeling like everything was okay, like in those blissful moments when he managed to forget the terrible fiend. Tresia handed him another one of the drinks which he took a sip of this time, the long sleeves of the strait-jacket suppressing any heat that came from the cup. He looked into the beverage, staring a bit. That relieved feeling growing a bit more as the woman wrapped an arm around him, like everything was perfectly fine and Chom would never find him, it made him smile a little, and he listened to her words, nodding softly as he thought of something happy and pleasant. “Es war eine Elfe Frau, die ihn verjagt, mich geheilt, und lockerte meine Jacke, damit ich meine Arme bewegen konnte. Wenn er für mich suchen, ich glaube nicht, wird er mich für eine lange Zeit zu finden.” He thought that this was a rather happy though; it had to have been compared to what he had just spouted out about all the bad stuff. And besides, it was about his release into freedom, though the elf’s magic couldn’t seem to heal the scars which were hidden under his jacket. “Es tut mir leid Entladen all diese schlechten Erinnerungen an Sie weiter.” He apologized with his head risen just a bit. It already seemed like he made a new friend in this mysterious new world, which he could only perceive as a good thing. |

Tresia listened to the first part and found that yes it was happy, but at the same time she wasn't sure. She also wondered who this elf woman was, but decided not to ask. She continued to just be there for him. When he made his next comment, Tresia looked at the boy and tried to smile a bit. "Don't worry about me I am a tough one to depress and you look like you need a good talk. So just say what you need. I will tell you the merchant's secret to happiness as soon as you are done. Oh I think the meat is ready." She got the meat out of the fire and passed it around. Each piece was on a stick so it made a sort of kabob. One of the others around the fire passed some bread. It was nice being in the desert. People shared with those who shared. It helped everyone survive and it was the way of things. On the horizon the moon started rising giving the lake an interesting sheen. |
