Sil had heard of a bounty for a group of bandits near the Ruins of Taras. Apparently, thinking that loot would be good, the Fallen thought they could make a good pretty coin. Sil felt that they would be particularly easy to deal with. They weren't that organized. Still, Sil was cautious. That was part of why he was still alive: his ability to be cautious when on jobs. He was about a mile off of Taras in a little wooded area. He made camp, as it was getting dark. He felt bored, eager to start his attack, but as he was told in the bounty notice, the Fallen work at night until near midnight. He would have to wait a few hours before attacking silently. He just wished he wasn't going to be so bored during that time. The shadows from the trees bore dark shapes through the light of the fire and the rustling of the leaves seemed louder than normal. Perhaps it was because it was quiet out here in the middle of the land of a Ruined city. |

The ruins of a fallen city, especially one like Taras that was still well populated, was a beacon to all the ill and mistrustful people of the world so it came as no surprise when Aurea was informed of bandits raided the area. Since she was between jobs at the moment, the bounty was high enough to convince her to travel up here. Though the trip up from Kellen was not necessarilly difficult, it did take some bit of time so darkness was falling as she was finally getting close. When she was about a mile or two off from the city, cutting through a small wooded area, she decided it'd probably be best to rest for a short time before going after the bandits immediately. Besides, it probably wouldn't be until later that they'd show up anyway, according to one of her sources, so she had plenty of time for a quick break. Just as she was starting to pick a satisfactory area for the break, Aurea spotted the orange glow of a campfire nearby and she couldn't help but want to investigate so she started to make her way over in that direction. It wasn't long before she found a break in the tree line and there, sitting beside the fire, was an elf. He surely wasn't one of the bandits, that much she was pretty sure of, so what was he doing here? Was he competition for her in collecting the bounty? |

Sil stared into the fire, wondering how he was going to set about defeating the bandits and getting the bounty in. He started to hum a tune to himself. It was an old tune that he remember his mother would sing the lyrics to the song to him when he was younger. He remembered that her voice was as silky and light as was possible. His mother was one of the most important people in his life. He had her to thank for his life, first of all. Then she taught him everything he knew about social life and diplomacy. She even knew a bit of combat, and taught him how to handle a sword, but she left most of that training to Sil's father. He stood up quickly. He had heard a slight sound. It was very faint, but Sil thought that it sounded like a cracking twig. He unsheathed his sword. He went into a graceful, yet dangerous battle-stance. He sort of danced with his blade when he dance, adding an Elven beauty to his combat style. He stood still in the night; the only sound was that of the crackling flames. Sil decided to call out to see if there was anyone there, or if it was his imagination playing tricks on him. "Hello? Call out Friend or Foe! If you be friend, then you are welcome to share my fire and company. If you are foe, I suggest you leave now! I am reasonable, so I won't give chase if you are foe. I'd much prefer friend right now though. I'd rather save my strength for those bandits." He didn't think he sounded too imposing, but he wasn't trying to be....much. |

Aurea had almost turned to walk away having decided that he was simply a traveler and, therefore, nothing for her to worry about. The first soft strands of a melody caught her attention though and she paused, looking back towards the elf. The soft hum originated from him and she let herself linger a moment longer to enjoy it before she stepped away.. And placed her foot right on a dry twig. She cursed herself silently, immediately freezing with the hopes that he hadn't heard it. Those hopes were dashed when the elf sprang to his feet, drawing out his sword. Her own hands shifted down, resting on the twin hilts of her fighting knives but she made no move to unsheath them, waiting instead to see what he did. So he was competition for the bounty on the bandits then.. Aurea went through her options, studying each possibility before finally just shrugging it off. She was looking for somewhere to camp down for at least a little while, why not join him at his fire? He might also have some information about the bandits that she could get that might help her get that bounty first. "I appreciate the offer for company, it really isn't all that safe to wander these parts alone considering all the bandits running about." She waited a second then took a few steps out from the underbrush so that he might see her. Though her hands still rested on the hilts of her knives, she made sure that it was apparent that she wasn't threatening him. "So, if you wouldn't mind, I would like to share your fire with you." |
