Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

With a flourish and a gust of wind to follow, a young woman burst through the door of the Inn and quickly shut it tight behind her, seemingly unaware of any who may be resting within. She pressed against the door closing her eyes and slowing her exhausted breath. She silently prayed they would simply run past the Inn, taking a different route away from here so that she may finally stop running. It had been weeks it seemed, that she had been on the run. And from what? If only she knew...Things were hazy in the previous weeks. She had awoken in an empty stable, not knowing how she had come to be there. It was when she did not even know her name that she became scared. Suddenly men dressed in intimidating armor and holding weapons far exceeding her own aimed to her throat made her realize something was wrong. They called her Saeryn, whether it was truly her name, she did not know but she would keep it as so. And yet, here she was, cornered in a building, only seeking to be rid of this cruel nightmare. "Please, please wake up. This can't be real. If only I wasn't the one they wanted" her mind raced with a plea to end this madness. And with that single thought, her dark raven locks seemed to changed, a hue of gold shimmering down the length of her hair like a waterfall. As she opened her eyes, what was once an icey hue was now replaced with a dull brown gaze. She felt different, gripping a few strands of her hair within delicate fingers. It was as if she was a completely different person. She felt different, but had no true way of telling without silver glass to show her.

"What the...."

She pushed from the door, not quite understanding what had happened. As she made her way towards a table, those who were chasing after her finally barged through the door. She stopped dead in her tracks, unable to breathe, thinking they had finally caught up to her. She turned slowly on her heels to face them and take the punishment she assumed she deserved, decidedly giving up. But to her surprise, they pushed her aside and strode through the Inn.

"Move wench"

She toppled over a chair that had been in the general path that she was pushed. With quick movements she scooted to a nearby wall and waited silently until the men would leave this place, hoping to become more of the background and unnoticed. They stormed through the rooms and within any small nook their target may be hiding.

They simply left, retreating as quickly as they had arrived. She lifted her hand to her forehead, her head ached as it had previous times before. The disguise washed from her face, and her true elfish appearance now shown through once again. She did not move from her spot, as if feeling they may come back for another look through. It was then that she finally took note of the Inn and those that resided within. She gripped the comfort of her cloak about her, sinking into the shadows they offered.

(Finally have a chance to post, internet has been crazy)

Sil was sitting at a table in the Broken Strings, sipping at the Non-Alcoholic Wine he always carried in a flask on his person. He had never been here before, preferring the Green Gryphon in Kellen, but it was a decent inn, he thought. He hadn't had a bounty in almost a year. He guessed that crime must have toned down, but he doubted that in the extreme, because he was hearing of murders and thievery every week. He went checking the Bounty Post every day, but there was never anything better than a petty pickpocket.....not worth the time of a Skilled and Renowned Bounty Hunter like Silvanos Brightstar. He wasn't prideful, too much, but he did like to take the bigger jobs. All things considered, he felt like there wasn't much point to being a bounty hunter anymore, but he continued to wait.

Sil had gotten some sort of, what he called, a Makeover, over the past month. His formally brown hair was now black, and his skin seemed a bit tanner. Of course, the hair color was a dye, and his skin color, sun exposure, but it was a major difference for him. His new golden cloak was in his lap, and his new gloves were on the table. He had been sitting and drinking at the same table for four hours. There was absolutely nothing to do.

And Sil didn't like that.

All of a sudden, Sil heard a crash as someone was pushed into furniture. The elf spun around quickly to see what the problem was.

Apparently, the pushee was a woman, and the pushers were two men, both burly and rugged looking fellows.

Concerned, Sil decided to get up and check on this woman. Giving a disgusted glare to the men who had pushed her, Sil walked up to the woman.

She looked like she was trying to disappear into her cloak.

Sil cleared his throat. "Madam, I happened to notice that those two men laid rough hands upon you, causing you to fall. May I inquire of you if you are injured in some way? Perhaps I can assist. I am Silvanos Brightstar."

There was a soft blue glow emitting from within the hood of her cloak, shifting towards Silvanos' general direction. It was perhaps an awkward moment of silence as she studied the man that stood near her. What was his intent? No ill action had come from him in that moment of stillness. Finally she shifted and raised small hands to lift the hood from her youthful face. Her icey blue gaze rested over his body, a weapon check, the way he shifts, and where his hands reside. His words danced in her mind, it was perhaps the kindest thing she had heard in the weeks that she had been aware.

"May I inquire of you if you are injured in some way?" It was these words that impacted her. Another seeming to care if harm had come to pass. As she saw it there was two ways to answer him. One choice being to lie to him, assure him she was injured and perhaps receive a free meal from this, or tell the truth and miss out on filling her stomach, but redeeming a friend instead. What would she have done before? Well she knew what she desired most now...

"I am well, thank you kind sir. I suppose you may call me Saeryn, if it pleases you."

Her voice was softly above a whisper, but slow and steady. She pressed against the wall and pushed herself upright, straightening her robes and smoothing her raven locks a bit, thinking she must look a bit wild compared to the residents of the city.

"I suppose if you were to assist me an any way, perhaps you would be so kind as to direct those men far....far far away from here?"

Quiet laughter slipped from parted lips but ended abruptly as she watched him. She meant what she said, but only if he would be willing to help....eliminate her troubles. Otherwise she would leave it as a joke of sorts. There was a silent plea from her intense gaze.

Silvanos smiled as the woman, Saeryn she called herself, seemed to open to him. He felt as though she had been through a rough night, this feeling furthered by the disheveled look she had before she straigtened her hair among other things.

He nodded. " Very well. I will try my best to try and help you in this time of need. I don't like it when people are disrespectful. It is a sad thing, indeed."

He pulled out an exquisite fruit that was in his pocket. He had no idea what it was, but it was really good and seemed to give one energy. He handed it to Saeryn. "Here. You look famished. This should help. I am sorry I don't have anything more sustaining, but this is really handy for food."

The men Sil thought that Saeryn meant walked through the doors of the inn, and settled at a table and ordered drinks. Indeed they seemed to be searching for someone. Sil wondered why.

He walked over to the men that Saeryn had indicated. He put on his best smile.

"Ah gentlemen. I see you have a great eye for fine ale. If I may be so bold as to insist that you move on to a different tavern? I heard that there is a sale of Dwarven Malt Beer at the Laughing Duck. I believe it was one gold for a mug. Usually it's like three or four."

The men looked at Sil, then at each other. They shrugged, then stood up. "Alright, Elf. We'll see if your words ring true. We could use a bit of cheap relief. Come on Rag."

The two men left. Sil smiled, then walked back to Saeryn. "Well, that was easier than I thought. Problem solved, for now at least. I shouldn't think that they will bother you again."

He gestured to a table, beckoning to Saeryn to sit in a chair across from one he chose for himself.

She was elated at the idea that someone else wished to help her. It seemed silent prayers had finally been answered. Yet still not completely trusting of this new found "friend", she stiffened as he reached for something hiding in his pocket. Her cold eyes never strayed from his pocket, wondering what weapon he would quickly draw on her. When she saw it was nothing but fruit, her expression change into softer one. Her eyes began to water. Not of tears of sadness, but those of extreme excitement over something so simple. She reached both hands timidly towards the fruit he held, almost unsure if it was poisoned, or perhaps it was just a tease to rouse his own devious tendencies. But he did not seem to be the kind who reveled in another's pain and suffering. Her hands quickly snatched the fruit from his and she brought it to her nose, inhaling the sweet scents it bore.

"Thank you" It was all she managed to slip out before tearing into the fruit, avoiding manners at this point as hunger took over. It had been days since she had been given a chance to eat anything.

Her eyes darted towards the door as it opened. IT WAS THEM! Her heart quickly sunk and she no longer had the urge to eat. She gripped the fruit tight in her hand and swept the hood over her fade. With unusual behavior, she turned and pressed her face to the cool wall, eyes tightly closed, saying a silent prayer only to be released of this fear. The interaction between Silvanos and the men went unnoticed but their exchanged words trailed gently in her mind like a distant song, on the tip of your tongue bet never reachable.

It was when she heard him speak again beside her, she snapped out of the distant trance she had put herself in. She quickly looked around. They were gone...Just like that...But how? This seemed too easy. Perhaps a trick of sorts? Was he in on this? Was he here to befriend her and draw her to them? Oh blasted deceitful thoughts. She followed him to his table and slid into the chair he motioned as her own. She sat poised, icey blues locked on him, studying him almost awaiting for some sort of trickery.

Sil was a little hurt that Saeryn still didn't trust him. He wasn't planning anything that he knew of. He wasn't like that. He cared about those in trouble and tried to help them solve their problems if it is possible for him to do so. This is what he had done for Saeryn this night.

"You don't trust me, do you? I can see why that is. I don't blame you. Trust me, though. If I had wanted to hurt you, I would have done so by now. That's how I work. I honestly and truly wish to help you. If you require me to further prove myself, then speak the challenge, I shall accomplish it, as long as it is at a decent level of reasonability. I am a true friend."

He smiled reassuringly. He sipped from his flask. He fixed his eyes on Saeryn's, wondering why she was so ready to be untrusting. He couldn't do anything but wonder what she had been through recently. He held his hands up to show that he wasn't trying anything.

"On my honor, you have nothing to fear from me. I am not one to lie unless it suits a purpose. And I have no purpose to lie for. So, I am a friend. Or at least, a helpful acquaintance. I prefer friend though. There's a much nicer ring to that word."

He smiled again, and chuckled.

She had listened to everything he wished to tell her. People can say many things to draw others to bend one way or the other, but it was their actions that spoke louder. She had to learn this quickly on her flee from those bad men. But this One that sat across from her now even lifts his hands in submissive form. He did not show any sign of being aggressive to her. He even did as she asked and foolishly asked for another challenge just to redeem her trust. Perhaps if she could tell him what was wrong, then she wouldn't have to bear this alone. She lifted small hands to the tabletop, idly tracing the etched markings and scratches there. She took in a deep breath and parted silken lips, ready to tell a tale....as she knew it.

"Forgive me for the mistrust I feel. I get confused at times...and I've felt alone for quite some time, a friend only seems a sweet fairytale." Her voice was still a soft tune, that rolled off her tongue, steady and sure. "Perhaps if you understood why, I.....Hmm.

She did not quite know everything, how would she be able to tell him. Maybe he would be able to help her fill in the missing pieces? "A few weeks back, I awoke in an empty stable. Those men you saw, barged in on me with swords ready to taste my blood. I wish I knew why, but you can't really sit and ponder these things when death is knocking on your door. So, I got up and...." She paused, again it was hazy. She lifted a hand to her forehead, frustration whelming inside of her. Why couldn't she remember? She clenched her teeth, tears filling glossy eyes. One managed to escape down her cheek. "Running...there was lots of running. I ran for days. They were skilled at tracking. Everywhere I thought to hide, they were there. No time for sleeping, eating was a luxury that came once in a great moment. I have never been so scared before...Or, I s'pose if I had, I do not recall there ever a time. I know I had been aware before the stables, problem is, I do not recall that time ever existing. I know I had parents, a childhood...at least I feel inside I had, but my memories...I have none."

She lowered her head to the table, unable to control the tears and not wishing to let Him see her cry. Her voice was muffled but still could be heard. "I'm scared...I'm lost and scared..." She knew she must've done something real bad...but what?

Sil frowned in empathetic sympathy. "I see. Well, we'll just have to see about you getting your memory back. Amnesia along with men wanting to kill you isn't a very good mix. It seems that I should help you then. I have nothing else to do, plus, I have just made a friend, I hope. So I wish to help you. Don't worry. Crying isn't a weakness, but a natural reaction to the feelings you have right now. I will help you as best as I can. I swear it.

He sipped from his flask again and put a comforting hand on Saeryn's shoulder. He wondered what could have happened to cause Saeryn to lose her memory. He wondered why those men were chasing her, intent on killing her. And most of all, he wondered what he would be able to do to help.

I'll just have to try, I guess,he thought to himself.

He waved a hand, signaling a waitress to bring over a plate of food: Vegetable Soup, nice and warm.

"Here. You should eat this. Thinking is much easier with a full stomach, lost memory or not. Careful, though. It's hot."

She lifted her head, tear stained cheeks reflecting the light. He offered her Hope. Something she had not had since she had been aware. That was all she could call it. 'Aware'. Unfortunately she did not know how to find her lost memories. But a friend at her side was comforting enough that she could begin to find a way. The bad men were still in this town. That stressed her out some. Would they walk back in after they had wasted their time with drink? They somehow knew where she always lurked. They never seemed to worry they would lose her, and never seemed to tire of the chase.

"I am glad you are going to help me, and I thank you for what you have done for me thus far. Even to lend an ear to me is kindness yet. But I'm afraid I do not know how to fix this. Running...That is all I seem to be good at."

Her eyes lit up as a bowl of soup was placed before her. The smells were so heavenly to her that having to wait much longer for it to cool down was a battle itself. She blew softly, watching the steam rise from the bowl and twist against her breath. The room around her grew black and a sound like people crying and screaming in torment filled her ears. Then fire burst before her face and buildings around her began to crumble. A man who appeared tobe of sorcery looked down upon her and with a smirk stated bluntly. "My my my, what have you done my pet? What have you done..." Everything faded once again, and she was back siting in the chair with steam from the soup touching her face. Once she snapped back to awareness she pushed from the table, tipping it on it's side, the force great enough to fling her backwards and hit her head to the hardwood floor.

Sil jumped up when Saeryn hit her head. He rushed to her side and checked for any blood in case she busted her head open. He lifted her head a bit, and sighed in relief. She only had a nasty bump. It was a nasty fall though. He was surprised that a bump was all she sustained.

He helped Saeryn stand up. "Are you alright? What happened? You were fine not a minute ago. Then you splashed soup all over me and fell back, hitting your head! Did a memory come back? Or did you burn your tongue, or what?"

He was truly concerned as to what had happened and was utterly obfuscated.

"Do you need to lie down for a little while? You look exhausted. A bit of rest might help you remember things."

She slowly lifted from the floor with his help, still a bit dazed by what just happened. She was trying to make sense of it all. Was she really going crazy now? Perhaps she should just let the men come and take her away, do what they will with her.

"There was fire...Not only did I see it, but I felt it too. Screaming, so much screaming, and sadness...I did it, I caused their pain...What have I done?"

She slid back into the chair after it had been turned upright again, yet the table still rested on it's side. Soup stained the Hardwood floor, leaving the Barmaid to grumble under her breath as she tried ferociously to clean it up before a rush of patrons would see such a disaster.

"I am sorry Silvanos, are you alright? I did not mean to harm you too. I lost control. I hope you are not burned too badly, I would never wish to harm the only friend I have in this world. Maybe I am a bad person, perhaps it was wise for me not to know what happened."

She took out a dagger that had been tucked away near her right hip and began toying it within delicate fingers. So sharp, and so easily it could pierce through flesh. 'So much pain, and all of my own doing. Just one cut and I can be free of it forever' Her mind drifted, plotting only for some sweet release from this torment. If it truly was as bad as she felt just moments ago, then she did not deserve such a wonderful gift as life.

"I'm sorry...." She clutched the dagger tight in her hand and lifted it slowly.

Zan paled. He thought that he shouldn't interfere, since this was what Saeryn had obviously resolved to do. But he wasn't going to let a perfectly good person kill herself. He felt that if he could help her, she'd find the peace she wanted at some point.....alive.

Quickly, he decided what to do. Fast as only an elf of his skill could be, he stopped Saeryn's arm. He felt her struggle a little bit, but he was able to grab the blade and take it from Saeryn's hand. He tossed it at a wall, where the blade stuck within.

He gently grasped Saeryn's shoulders. "No! That's not the way to solve this problem. Well, I'll admit that it would end it in some way, but think of the things you might do later in life. You may have been a bad person before you lost your memories, but we'll not know for sure until you regain enough of your memory. And I hope that your interaction with me may be able to somewhat cancel out your bad side if you were a bad person. Right now, I think that you are a good person. You've been nicer to me, and accepted my company more than almost anyone else. There was only two other people that did so. I haven't seen them in a long time. So, right now, you're the only friend I really have.

Together, we'll solve your problem, and I promise that you will have that peace you are looking for. But not in death. There's so much good that you can do in your life. If you were a bad person, you aren't now. Start now, and you'll be remembered as a good person. Trust me. I know this from experience.
"

He laid a comforting hand on Saeryn's forearm. He hoped against hope that she would understand what he was trying to do.

Saeryn struggled against Silvanos as he tried to take her 'Easy way out' away from her. All the troubling thoughts and pressing determination dissipated as she focused now on the grip of the dagger. It was as if someone was taking candy from a young child. His grip had been much stronger than her own and soon the dagger was released from her hand and thrown to a wall opposite of them. As he lowered to her level, her icey blues locked with his own eyes, the silver specks within shimmering with a life of their own. She listened to him, every last word, allowing him to say what he needed uninterrupted. She broke free from his grasp, having not been touched by anyone since she was aware. His actions toward her made her feel somewhat like a child, and perhaps her actions proved to be as such. But at least she saw some concern within him that she had yet to see in anyone. After a short pause she did something perhaps quite unexpected. At least she didn't expect to do it...It just sort of happened. She lifted her arms up and draped them around his neck, pulling him to her in a tight hug. She closed her eyes and smiled softly and whispered in his ear. "Thank you, friend"

She realized this may be awkward for him as well and she quickly let go of him, lowering her gaze to hands that now fidgeted in her lap. She realized she did not inquire much of him, and in order to trust One she must know something of that person. Her voice was small, just above a whisper. "Will you tell me more about yourself? I do not know much about you. Maybe if I move my thoughts to someone else and not of my own problems, things may not feel so bad anymore? At least for a little while"

Within that time the barmaid had come out and done her best to pull the dagger from the wall. With heavy steps she brought the dagger back to Silvanos, afterall he was the one who had thrown it in the first place. She glared at the two elfen kind and sneered inwardly. "You two are becoming quite a nuissance here. Any more trouble and you'll be finding your way out the door very quickly!" It was clear to see she was becoming quite irate at the disturbances that had gone on.

Zan smiled. He was surprised when Saeryn hugged him suddenly, but he kind of sort of liked it. He hadn't been hugged since his last good friend who was a girl was around. That was a long time ago.

He smiled apologetically at the waitress. "Sorry."

He turned back to Saeryn. "Well......there's not much to know, I guess. I am a Moon Elf...obviously. I happen to be a Bounty Hunter, but I don't hunt anyone if I don't have a bounty tag. I am self-exiled from my Homeland because of something dark that happened. I don't want to get into details about that just now. I haven't seen my family in decades and I don't have much interaction with others. I guess that since I'm a Bounty Hunter, people expect me to be anti-social." He shrugged.

"Anyway. My life hasn't been all that interesting. But, there you have it. That is basically me in a nutshell."

He smiled.

She laughed softly, then nodded, respecting his wishes not to go further into detail about his past. She guessed it was different when the past chased you than when you left the past behind. One was in your face, the other more hidden and easier to forget. She wished her's was like that. She didn't want this pain, she just wanted happiness, at least for a moment. She no longer wanted to drown in the darkness of the shadow of her past.

"I s'pose we both have something in common then. We are both exiled, no matter the cause. And yet you managed to become a hunter, and I a hunted...But as my luck would have it, you are on my side."

She chewed lightly on her lower lip. It was time to take control of her life now. Seek out the happiness she wanted. But she would need his help to do it. "I know this may be a silly question to ask, but. ..." She was hesitant to ask for help, not knowing if he would really choose to waste his time helping her. Perhaps he had other things he needed to accomplish. "Maybe you might be willing to help me, teach me to defend myself from those that hunt me, and whatever the past might throw my way? I know that perhaps by aiding me, it may not look so great to other Bounty Hunters, because of the Bounty placed on my head, but I would be so grateful."

She had a pleading look in her eyes. She knew he was skilled in many things, maybe he could help her become the Hunter too, and reclaim the happiness she sought. Be rid of those men, and the one she saw in her mind only moments ago. He must've been a part of this too.

[OOC: Sorry so short, don't have much time for posting, but this needs to be posted ;) ]
