You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. One by one, the edges frayed. The soft images of life walked past her, blind to her. She saw herself walking in front of herself. An empty shell that looked like her but was caught in some strange silver webbing. It pushed her back, stopping her from touching what she recognized as her body, her soul misplaced from it but still connected to it. After she followed herself through the gates of the city, she realized what this was. She was soul walking. Her physical body was caught in some sort of trance or sleep spell, and because such a thing normally didn't work on her but it had been powerful enough to, it had pushed her aside. After a long moment, the one who held her form entranced stopped and directed her body to kneel on the ground. AD was free to ignore the command though and walked up as her soul-self to see what was happening. "This is the one, you are sure?" Demanded the woman in full armor before them. The one dark elf who had her body captured bowed her head, "There is no other. The implements of summoning, shadow magic, and demonic power were all found on her. This is Aether Draka, leader of the demonic Divshatten." A smirk crossed the armored dark elf's face and she stepped forward and grabbed AD''s body by her braids and pulled her head back. "This, this is what all the hype was about? Some mongrel girl?" She spun to a small group that was gathered and yanked AD's body to her feet by her hair. Aether Draka's soul lunged forward to defend her body and passed right through the armored woman. With a growl she spun about and sensed a dark presence appear on one side as a softly glowing on appeared on the other. She glanced to her side and saw her demonic self and a celestial self flanking her. All this remained unseen by the dark elves about in the 'real world'. They had all lost the ability to control her body... AD cussed softly to herself as she tried to think of a way out of this mess. |

The priestess lifted an object lying on the altar before her, admiring the dim glow of bone in the candlelight. A slim black finger traced its edge, tapping the back of a knuckle on it. The bone gave no evidence it was harmed in any way, being solid as steel. The entire point of the ritual, of course, was to enchant the blade with several properties. It was sharp and durable as master worked steel, vampiric qualities amplified to the point that it sucked the life all around it, and any wound it caused would atrophy the skin, spreading until the enemy was but dust. The woman sighed in wanting one for herself. A purposeful cough from behind her, reminding that the blade was not hers, and that her client was eager to have it back. Not wishing to anger this particular 'friend', she turned about, the blade held out in two hands respectfully. 'It is complete, as you wished.' She said. A frown came onto her face. A Porcelain white hand stretched out from the shadows, taking the blade's hilt and lifting it. The pull at life was evident immediately, a thing to steal life and free the soul. Seeing the frown, the hand sheathed the blade beneath robes, leaving only a patch of magical darkness. “What is it?” the shadows spoke. 'Nothing is wrong, I was only curious as to why it was so... easy. It seemed as if the strength was already there.' The priestess asked, weakness showing briefly. Cassie stepped from the shadows, blue-black robes swaying smoothly, leather vest over it shining softly. “You ask questions whose answers are best left unknown.” The woman winked, sending a fluttering into the drow's stomach. The woman pressed closer. Cassie smiled, perfectly at ease with the distance Lifting a hand, she pressed two gold coins into it. The priestess looked confused, about to object to the gross underpayment. Cassie lifted a hand to grasp her chin, bringing their mouths close together. The drow relaxed after a moment, giving in. Before their lips touched, Cassie smiled, exhaling a long breath. Frosty clouds rushed from her parted lips and into the other woman's, freezing wherever it touched. Blood drained from the priestesses face as she struggled to escape, unable to do so, bound by Cassie's unholy strength. The woman stopped breathing as her lungs froze over, insides turning to solid structures. A moment later, cassie let go, smiling all the wider. Taking the two coins from the woman's palm, she pressed them to her red eyes, a crackle sounding as they froze in place. “Samuel?” She said, leaving a mental order before leaving the private home. A crunch sounded as the eight foot humanoid stepped form the shadows, breaking many of her internal organs and shattering her lungs with a backhanded swipe. Nearly an hour's walking later, Cassie felt a soul leaving its body, though it lacked the sensation of death. Her curiosity piqued as she Stepped into the shadows of an alley, coming out of a shadow a short distance away. Her brow furrowed at the scene. A small group of dark elves were gathered, led by an armored woman who held another woman by the hair, the victim nowhere near a drow elf. Cassie leaned on her staff, watching the scene in plain sight. Lifting it several inches, she brought the butt down hard onto the ground, the cracking thump echoing. Giving a smile, she pulled a veil of shadows over Samuel, hiding the golem-like undead. “If she is indeed Leader of the Divschatten, it would likely be wise to think twice about your actions. Or so you'd think. They're often more than they appear to be, love.” She nodded, addressing the armored woman, though her eyes scouted for the spirit she'd felt, unable to see anything. |

The dark elf in armor turned at the sound of a voice and a sneer crossed her face. "If this woman is the leader of the Divshatten, then I will have to kill her, as she did the same to my twin. A fair exchange, no doubt." AD's souls glanced at Cassie also when she spoke, but while they were talking, she circled her body. No, she couldn't reach it. How very strange... Her gaze drifted to the surrounding dark elves then, and remembering what had happened to Lynthaer when his demon infused took control, AD smiled. Without a word, she walked towards a well armed dark elf woman and two flanking guards. She stood where the woman was and then closed her eyes, focusing on the 'real world'. As she opened her eyes, she felt a soul and mind recoil in horror as she took over the person's body. She moved her hand, tightening it and letting it go. She then felt an almost physical pull as her demon self took one of the flanking dark elves as it's own, shortly after followed by her celestial side on AD's other side. She felt a sharp pain being shared between the three of them as they did this, made worse when AD decided to move, but she needed her body free, so this would have to work. The three dark elves moved forward quickly, AD swiftly removing the head of the one who cast the spell and who had been still maintaining it. She saw her demonic self grab the armored woman's arm and her body fall to the ground. Her celestial self knelt down to make sure she was alright, and AD felt relived as her celestial form left the body she had momentarily possessed. The woman in armor shouted in surprise at the assault and the three of them were soon surrounded. AD decided it was time to get her own body back and left the one she had taken, the poor dark elf passed out as she did so. She saw then her body. The webbing was still there, but it was being removed by the handful by her celestial self. The pair of them still felt a sharp pain through them as her demonic self was still in the dark elf's body. "You have made a terrible mistake. Ask now for forgiveness or you, and all those about you, will pay for your actions against us." The sound of her demonic voice was clearly not human, or elven, and not the woman who they saw before them. |

Cassandra smiled at the woman gently, a flash of joy shining in her eyes momentarily. She didn't doubt the guild leader's ability to handle herself. But if things came to violence, she'd enjoy herself with no restrictions. She needed the leader alive. “No doubt. Nonetheless. If you pursue this course, you will fail.” Cassie stated, fingers curling smoothly over the grip of her staff. The next turn of events occurred quickly, three spirits taking control of the dark elves. Cassie slipped the staff into the fist-sized pouch, disappearing into the extra-dimensional space. She retrieved a polished black crystal ball, holding it close to her left side, drawing her sword in her right. The three souls were forced out of their respective bodies, pulled towards the Vault, followed closely by the mage. The woman gave a hiss when the drow circled the Leader, including her other souls. The black veil hiding Samuel dissipated, the flesh golem clearing the distance between he and the ring in a single step. His hand slapped down on the head of one of the men, enveloping his entire face. The man was lifted from the ground, struggling for a moment. Samuel ignored the blade that came up, slipping between the two bones in his forearm and puncturing the skin on the other side. Cassie walked forward, boots clicking on the stone underfoot. Pulling the blade back, she thrust it forward, the tip erupting from the other side of his chest, impaling his heart. The flesh immediately began to decay, drying out. The muscle continued to beat weakly, spreading the effect. Cassie felt the rush of life sparking up her arm and running down her spine, felt the warmth that accompanied it. Pulling free, Samuel let go, dropping the corpse to the floor. The body continued to dry and age. The blood on her blade sunk into the bone, leaving it clean. Sheathing the blade calmly, the woman stepped over the corpse, taking his place in the ring. Samuel stood behind her, hunched forward, arms separating her from the drow on either side. The Shade tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. “You heard her. Though I don't see the need for mercy, love. Not with such disrespect as that they've shown you.” Cassie gave the armored woman a hungry look. |

AD smiled at her celestial self and slipped past the webbing as it was removed and felt so much better to be in her own body then it had been to be in that dark elf's. As she opened her own eyes and stood up on her own two feet, the first thing she did was retrieve her bag from the now dead woman who had cast that spell on her. She felt a gut wrenching twist of pain as she looked at her demonic self in the body of a dark elf. She had to be careful not to show how much it hurt, but felt the pain vanish as her demonic self left the body it had possessed and joined AD and her celestial side in their own body once more. The pain vanished and she felt better then she had in a long time. A smile crossed her face as the woman in armor spun and punched her own guard in the face, knocking the woman her demonic side had possessed out like a light. The armored woman drew her blade and ordered an attack then and their fear of her wrath was greater then their fear of Cassie and AD. "As you wish." AD said to the armored dark elf. Aether Draka calmly took her summoning deck out as her sanctuary spell surrounded her. She looked through them for the creatures she wanted. Elves attacked, swinging uselessly at her shield with no effect as others lunged at Cassie and her 'pet'. Finding the one she wanted, AD held a card in front of her, without a word, and looked at where Cassie was as shadows of the people about them became solid things and pooled in front of her before reaching up to take the card from her hand. As the shadows seemed to consume the card, AD let it go and a circle of pitch black formed, the shadows forming a large bubble that soon literally shattered as a huge demon, nearly 9 feet tall including the huge up-swept horns. It's body slightly resembled a centaur, but it had cloven hoofs and a long scorpion tail. It's maw was huge, taking up most of it's 'human' part and it also had a 'normal' mouth. Four 'arms existed also, the upper ones like a human's except with demonic claws. The lower arms were that of a scorpion's as well, huge jagged claws eagerly reaching for the nearest things to it. It's skin was black with insect-like armor plates. It's eyes glowed green as it eagerly joined the fray. After making sure it knew Cassie was not a target, she went back to her cards to find a larger number of creatures. |

Cassie smiled as the drow began their assault. The two males on either side of Cassie drew blades, one holding a longsword, and the other a combination of longsword and dirk. Samuel gave an inhuman roar, muted by the lack of a mouth. Thick, heavy arms shot out to either side, sweeping them from their feet. The two fell and rolled away, springing back. Samuel swung one fist into the left drow, ignoring the sharp blades cutting into his flesh. The other hand seized the drow by his helmed head, throwing him. The sound of a snapping neck sounded, dead before he hit the ground. All the while, Cassie calmly shut her eyes and chanted, casting a moderately difficult Shedding Flesh spell, focusing it through her staff for added power. She expanded the reach of the spell, spending three of the trapped souls to make it a permanent spell. Not even a healing spell would fix it now. The spell was wound around the soul. Cassie thrust the staff into the brow of a charging female drow, the sudden movement taking her by surprise. Where the staff hit, flesh immediately began to peel away, decaying and dying. The decay spread, much similar to the effect of her blade. Out of the fight, the woman screamed and dropped her weapons, running out of the fray, one of her eyes shriveling. Taking a deep breath, she stood perfectly still, trusting Samuel to keep the enemies off her for now. The golem did its job well, not allowing anything within its reach to come close. Cassie retreated into her head, a dark melody playing inside. 'for now, Nick' She concentrated on that melody, feeding it power. Outside, her eyes opened, a swirling mass of soul-flesh. Smiling, she slipped away the staff, Nicodemus taking control of her body. The sword almost seemed to appear in the delicate hand. He could feel the part of himself in the sword, giving him a perfect mastery of it. Glancing around, he stepped into the fray, blade weaving, slapping between the twin long swords of an opponent rapidly and diving in, burying itself in his breast. Every wound he struck spread the drying curse, life replenishing fatigue as he worked. Slowly the demon made his way to AD, working his way through the crowd, leaving Samuel on the other side. “Evening, Lady Aether. It's been some time since we've met. The Styx, was it?” Nicodemus chuckled, pressing the hilt to the black flesh of a bared throat, whipping the sword to the side. The head tilted backwards, blood spraying. Deftly, he hopped out of the mist's range until the entropic effect sealed the bloodflow. |
