Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Orick was tired. He had come to the Deep City for rest, but had gotten none. He had been kicked out of every inn, every stable, every alley. He had not slept for days, and was hungry. He had eaten the last of his rations, and had no money for more. He wandered around the upper side of the city, tired, cold, hungry, and worst of all; bored.

When Orick got bored, he got cranky, and when Orick got cranky, he got hungry and tired. This added to his already apparent fatigue and hunger. He walked into an alley, filled with rubble of the two crumbling buildings on either side. He crawled up the pile of rubble, to the top of a ruined building, stuck up against a high cliff. He sighed, and walked carefully on the rotted wood, eventually coming to rest on an old sofa.

He sat there for a long time, nodding off a few times. The clouds were getting darker above, and the air held a certain charge; a tension. He flicked up his hood, just as the rain started to come down. He was dry under the small rocky shelf above the couch, and he sat watching the city. It was noon, and the city seemed to die. People closed doors and windows, curling up on couches and chairs and beds to read for the rest of the day. Orick did not have that luxury.

If there was any time other than nightfall during which Selene loved to fly, it was in the rain. The steady hiss of the rain fall, the constant caress of the storm. Sure, it stung a little, but the pain only made her feel more alive. As she flew, he wings beating steadily against the rain, she noticed some sort of stone-carved city, and decided to seek respite there. Among the ruined part of the city, there were a variety of makeshift dwellings, and curiously among them, a large man in the open, sitting on a sofa.

Curious and bored, she flew down near him, and landed. With a shiver from her wings, she shook the water from her, and smoothed her straggled black hair. With a smooth stride, her tail waving softly side-to-side behind her, she sat down on the sofa next to the large man, and said,

"And so the rain, though fall from heaven, does dampen all our days,
Our hearts are filled with vilest leaven, or so the sadness says.
So cling to walls, and bower, and draw near to warmth of heart.
For I rest in passion's strong, tall tower, from whence my clear skies start."

With a sigh, she turned to the man, and asked, her slender blue eyes focused on him,

"Do you like the rain? I always found it relaxing."

Terra was a traveling entertainer, and thus, she was always looking for new places to entertain the masses with her songs. Perhaps one of her greatest mistakes was coming to a dwarvern city. The people of this city were hardly friendly to normal strangers as is. Terra, as a harlequin in an elaborate costume with white face paint, was not received very well at all. It was so bad that she had to hide Zenba in her backpack. As she entered the town, beady eyes glared at her with cruel intentions. People scattered as she walked by, the warm smile on her painted face slowly fading at the dwarves reception to her. Still, she knocked on the door of what she assumed was a tavern, hoping that she would be able to perform.

A small slot on the door opened, beady little eyes poking through it. "Ello Mon..." Before she could even start, the slot slammed shut, her eyes grew sad and she began to walk away. In the distance, she saw the outlines of two people sitting on top of a building, but they weren't dwarves. The harlequin decided it would be a good idea to approach them. She broke in to a run, cutting in to the alley on the side of the building. She climbed clumsily up the rubble, almost losing her balance several times balancing as she jumped up the rotted broken wood.

When she got to the top , she got a closer look at the two figures who she had seen from a distance. One was a young man a little younger than Terra, he had brown eyes and a mess of a head of brown hair. He had a dark complexion and was wearing average looking clothes. The other person had a far more dynamic appearance. She was a half dragon, tall for a women, and had draconic features over her mostly human appearance.

Terra approached them, bowing as she stood a few yards away from them. "Salut fellow travelairs. Eet is nice to meet you. I am Terra ze Moonlight Harlequin." She paused, gazing around the streets , which were now empty. "Zis city eez not so friendly for outsiders eet seems. At least I found you!" She flashed a smile.

Orick looked at the dragon woman who had alighted to his couch, then at the harlequin who had shambled up the rubble scree. He looked at the dragon woman, "Yes, I like the rain. But there comes a point where one becomes saturated, then the cold leaks into one's bones, and causes pain. I do not like pain. But yes, I do like rain." he turned to the harlequin, "Hello there." he said in a calm voice, standing up from the couch that was made for only two people. "Please, take a seat.

He put down his large olive colored rucksack and sat down on it, under the rock shelf, to the right of the couch. He brought his legs close to his chest and leaned back against the cold rock wall. He sighed. "Nice to meet both of you ladies. Name's Orick." he said in a firm voice. He hated coming to the deep city, but it was one of the only respites in the mountains. He spun his staff quietly and tapped it against the rotting wood floor.
