Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

A man dressed in simple gray homespun, stood in the middle of a field. It was a surprisingly warm autumn night, and he laid his robe on the top of his staff; which rested neatly under the trunk of an ancient oak. He stood, staring up into the growing twilight sky, watching stars grow from the darkness. He saw small fae creatures flit about the sky, along with lightening bugs. He saw them fly in fantastic swirling patterns, swirling, mixing blue and greens, reds and yellows. He watched as beautiful pictures formed, growing larger and smaller with growing and diminishing distance.

He laid down in the tall, thick grass, letting it brush against his skin. He felt a slight wind run through his hair, brown and messy. He felt odd not wearing his robe, almost like a different person. He felt less formal, more like an average person who was not an amazingly depressed ex-monk. The itinerant scholar stared up at the sky, continuing to watch the insects and faeries fly. He could not help but laugh in pure joy of this stress relieving moment. It had been so long since he last laughed.

He looked to his left, to see Daniel emerge from the deep woods. He carried several small punky logs. He looked around, a worried look on his face. As soon as he saw the lying, laughing form of James he smiled in relief and continued walking. He sat himself down next to the smiling man, laying down his burden with a hollow thunk. Daniel shifted his weight and stared too and what his friend gazed fondly at. He sighed and leaned against the pile of wood at his back, listening to the wind brush through the grass and the water fall quietly from the falls.

His footsteps almost echoed, on purpose of course. He wasn't sure why, but he enjoyed hiding the fact that he was skilled. He kept his hands within his cloak, one of them at his weapons hilt, the other hanging lazily at his side. He couldn't help but smile as he stepped along the road, watching the dancing lights overhead. He laughed a bit, "It's good to see some things are still happy nowadays."

He stopped for a moment, looking down and examining the area around him, gaze shifting left and right over the terrain he walked along. His eyes drifted over the pair of people, collecting wood, from the looks of it. One of them looked rather pale, almost like the walking dead. He felt a bit skittish at the sight of the zombie-like man, but sort of ignored it. As he passed he merely plastered on a smile and waved his right hand, speaking clearly, "Hail!"

He slowed himself as he said it, lowering his hand as he did.

James stood quickly, turning fast to see a figure, standing on a road. He waved him over, as Daniel started a small cooking fire. He pulled a small pot from a travel sack, along with a sack of water, and the remnants of a past meal. He sliced carrots, onion, and celery into the pot, adding the left over meat and the water. He set the pot on the fire to boil and leaned back as James started to walk toward the man, smiling.

He was in quite a good mood, and this man had a good feel about him. "Please, come eat with us, we might not have much, but you are welcome to share." he said when he got close to the man. "My name is James, the boy by the fire is Daniel." he motioned for the man to follow, "Come, come." he said in a happy voice. It had been so long since he had really been kind to someone, and if felt good, if not overly sweet.
