Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

A small black cat wove it's way through the many piles of ruble and half buildings in the area looking about absently for a small bit of pray. He wasn't really hungry, but it didn't matter if he was or not. Every little bit of food was good enough for him and he may bot even kill what he found. Perhaps he would let it go after finding out what was available here.

He heard a strange sound then and stopped where he was. Then the small black cat hopped onto the top of the nearest surfaces, a section of wall that was mostly solid and covered in moss. He rose his noise high in the air and took a deep breath. The place smelled of age, dust, a few undead, and... dragon? There was another dragon near? Onyx smiled. How wonderful! Someone who was worth talking to! Sitting down he drew his other senses to see if he could locate where the other dragon was.

The ground opened up slowly, as if the pits of hell itself was spewing up the foulest demons it held. However, if this was true, hell was cold, as nothing but a frigid breeze slithered out from the underground, followed by strains of muttering. Moments later, a man began to trudge his way up, waving a hand almost absentmindedly at the crack and letting out a sigh that broke the deathly silence of the ruined city. He'd been given another task from Yaksha, and he was about ready to let off some steam, so to speak; he, a majestic dragon, one of the greatest beings on Imythess, was reduced to little more than a beast of burden, sent out to destroy people unsightly to the guild, or to deal with issues that couldn't be solved with words.

"It's been over a year, and I'm losing my mind. That overgrown skeleton doesn't even realize what he's got, doesn't see how easily I could just destroy him if I wanted. He's lucky I've got at least a vague sense of honor." He was already in his human form, and he could feel his vulnerable skin prickling against the breeze, trying to suppress a shiver of disgust. For some reason, Yaksha seemed to LIKE being one of these things, and actually went out of his way to pass off as one of these fragile, pinkish beings. However, even as a human, he had the sense to make sure he was as intimidating as possible. His form stood a solid 6 and a half feet, his entire body seeming the kind that could crush stone in a hand. His sandy brown hair was left as a tangled mess, and his growing beard made it obvious that he had no time for those silly little human grooming rituals.

He moved through the ruins quickly, letting his rage grow into a singularly chilling thought, into something that simply demanded it be sated. The dragon liked his anger, cherished the chance to let himself really unleash the chains sometimes. The people he met were all too often grating, overly full of themselves, or generally annoying. If a few were to die in the course of his duties, would anyone really mourn? So few people were worth a dragon's respect in this world, and the ones that were certainly deserved their fair chance. As far as Rhigose was concerned, everyone else deserved death, and should welcome the chance to be slain by someone like himself.

His gaze was finally drawn to movement in the corner of his vision. His head swivelled towards it slowly, and he stared down at the cat before him, his face growing into a chilling smile with a speed that matched the glacier's, and he spoke with a soft rumble that sounded like an approaching avalanche. "You should get out of here; they don't really appreciate living intruders in these ruins. Not since he took things over."

Onyx was fairly sure that this was the dragon, though he was very disappointed to see he had taken the form of a two legger. However, that didn't truly mean too much. Even as much as he disliked the form of a two legger, there had been times when he had been forced to use such a form.

The small black cat stood and lept down from it's perch when addressed by the stranger. It walked a ways away from the wall, halfway between Rhigose and the remains of the wall. Then he sat down, paws straight in front of him and curled his tail around the front of himself. As he did so, he returned to his natural draconic form. His cat form swiftly grew and the neck elongated, as did the muzzle. Fur gave way to finely wrought pitch black scales. By the time he had finished, he stood just over two stories tall with the same blue eyes of the cat. He arched his neck some and said in a voice kept purposefully calm and quiet enough not to carry too far. "For some reason I don't feel I need to worry all that much. It's not like I plan to live here or anything." A draconic smile crossed his face. Besides, not too many people could take on chaos. There was simply no way to really know what to expect from it.

Rhigose stared for a minute, before spread his own arms wide as his grin grew even wider. He looked almost like a man who had found out he had a brother he'd never heard of, as he let out a frigid sigh. "My, my, there's a surprise. It's rare enough to find a true dragon these days. But a chaos dragon?" His face and mouth began to extend outward, as if being stretched by an invisible hand. Blue scales crept across his face and chest, and his fingers began to twist into large talons as he continued to grow, finally spreading his wings wide and letting out a gravelly laugh that dropped the temperature around him several degrees. His body shivered hard as he felt the familiar rush of his true draconic form, and he knew that Onyx was going to be someone worth remembering.

His eyes glinted with a steely malice, and his voice was full of a childlike glee at meeting another dragon. "You don't know how infuriating it is, trying to swallow my pride. I'm a dragon, yet I'm forced to lower myself to the form of one of these weak little humans on a regular basis. It takes all I have not to just destroy what's left of these ruins." His neck began to swivel slowly, stopping at every patch of darkness as he stared around. "But I still have my pride as a dragon, and I always repay what I owe. Even if I might owe a human..." He gave a bitter chuckle that held no mirth, and finally turned back to his fellow ancestor. "What brings you here?"
