| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

He walked along the river, using the shifting sounds to guide him along the edge. It had been some time since Graham had actually decided to walk along nature that wasn't dead or dying, or rather, travel without having an ulterior motive. He flared his nostrils under his hood, the shadow of his cloak covering all but the pale white of his chin and lips. He couldn't help but feel at ease, regardless of the sun. He hated the stinging heat of it, yet it was sort of relaxing. He couldn't help but feel bored, all alongside the relaxing feeling of it all. He wasn't used to such a quiet day, he was used to battle, used to magic, used to some manner of dark creature searching him out. He couldn't help but let out a huff, "It's almost like I'm back in isolation..." He shook his head, this wasn't half as bad as the hell he used to live in. At least here, he wasn't hounded by whispers of the abyss. He waved it away, continuing on. Soon, he wouldn't have time to travel like this, rather, he'd be hard at work, concentrating on his magical studies, rather then silly gallivanting adventures. But he did enjoy some of those adventures, give or take one or two awful ones. The thought of some of his more recent ones made his face cringe into a scowl, almost causing him to trip as he walked, not really paying attention through his thoughts. |

The elven woman stood there by river. The wind played with her hair causing it to flutter about. A blindfold was tied around her eyes, concealing them. Even though she was blind, the glare of the sun could bring discomfort to her unseeing eyes. She felt more comfortable when she had them covered. Besides, people seemed to be more at ease around her when they did not need to look into white lifeless eyes. It was fairly quite in this area of Cascadia. The water was calm in this area and was soothing to her ears. Birds chirped in the tears near by. She took in a deep breath and let out a sigh. She felt at peace at times like this. The crunching of a boot against the soil alerted her to the prescence of another. They were still a distance off, but this person was heading towards. She remained there waiting and listening to the strangers approach. A voice drifted to her. It was a deep soothing voice. It reminded her a little of one of her teachers she had while growing up. He was a stern man, but a good man. As the footsteps of the man drew closer, she found it somewhat odd that he did not speak out to her. Most people did. She turned her face towards him as he walked in her direction. He was close, she could tell that. "It seems I am not the only one who cared for a strole in these parts," she said to him. |

He moved his hand to his wand out of a reflex, a fluid motion of his hand moving into his cloak. He stopped as the actual situation melted down on him, the voice not filled with any malice at all, not that he could tell anyway. He smiled, "It is a lovely day, I imagine. The sun's a bit bright however." He lowered his hands back to his waist, not feeling threatened, though he was a bit confused for a moment, not sure why he didn't notice someone was there. He was usually good about feeling if someone was nearby. Though, his head was a bit in the clouds. His smile stayed wholesome, "What brings you out this far from town, miss?" He bowed a bit as he said miss, showing respect, as it was due, at least, by manners sake. Raising his head, he lifted his hand to slick his hair out of his face, feeling it stab into the side of his nose. He made sure that the hood of his cloak did not fall, the light not pressing into his flesh much, at least nothing above his chin. He couldn't help but feel a bit off about the whole thing, but he did not let his pale smile diminish, his figure hidden beneath the blackness of his cloak. |

Elian shrugged at his comment of the sun being bright. "That is why I keep my eyes covered when it is bright like this," she replied. "It kind of stings, but I do enjoy the warmth the sun gives." She laughed a little as he question. "I guess I could ask you the same thing good sir," she said in a friendly tone. "I am here merely because I sought an escape from the noise of the city. I feel at peace when things are quite. With all the noise of the city there are things one can miss." She turned in his direction. "I am Elian'ne by the way," she introduced herself. "Who might you be?" |

He bowed gracefully, smiling. He was speaking softly now, keeping his manners evident, "I apologize, I should have introduced myself first. I am Graham Sideas." He raised himself again, smiling clearly, his chin fully illuminated in his stance. He spoke warmly back at her, "The sounds of the city aren't to your liking?" He left it at that. The tone of his skin would show itself that he wasn't the largest fan of the sun, the very tone of his skin was enough to help him to blend in with the snow of the frozen north. He stepped forward once, keeping the step as seamless as he could, "If so then we are cut of the same cloth, too much noise, and too many people and it's really just too difficult to keep yourself oriented in town." He wasn't really sure of what else to say. Most of his encounters with people lately had shaped his view of people to a rather... lesser perspective. The last person he met tried to kill him with exploding dice, and before that, he ended up causing a bar fight with another. Only one or two people had actually shown him niceties since he left his damned isolation. Even his first human encounter out of the darkness was a fight. One he needed to release his demon half in, at that.... He felt a bit uneasy... |

She cocked her head as he spoke again. "Cut of the same cloth?" she repeated. Then she listened carefully as he stepped forward. The sound of his steps were somewhat similar to hers. Each foot was carefull placed down before the next moved. Did that mean... "Excuse me for this question...but are you blind?" she asked. "I am sorry if it an insulting question, but I am unable to see. And your manner is similar to my own in how you move and act..." She sincerly hoped she was correct in her assessment. It would be rather embarassing if she asked a sighted person if he were blind. But then again, she could always blame her own blindness for such a mistake, though she did not like falling back on her handycap like that. |

He smiled, laughing a bit, very intuitive for a blind woman. His voice kept the same tone as his laughter, "Well it was very skillful of you to notice, though I imagine you're used to noticing things that others miss." He laughed a bit to himself, "But I suppose I should feel like an idiot. I've been bowing and continuing on with mannerisms one should have with a lady, and you can't see at all." He felt that his words might have sounded a bit rude, but he was meaning them whole heartedly to try and alleviate the situation from awkward to comfortable. He was kind of relieved, odd enough. The last few times he had been questioned about his blindness it ended in a fight, or in him bowing down to some demonic lich. Hopefully... neither would happen here. He smiled wider, "and I only meant that I have no taste for the city either, it's hard to keep my bearing when there are too many people around me. I enjoy watching the people but too many confuses my senses... I'm sure you understand." Though he wasn't so sure, to be honest. He wasn't sure if his blindness was the same as others. He wasn't blind from birth, or by accident, he was blinded by choice. He walked too long in the abyss, and his experiments while there led to this. That, and the sheer force of the magics he studied pushing down on his senses, the sheer weight of pure darkness pressing into his senses. |
