| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

The dark cool night loomed over the planet as it rotated around its suns and moons. The night sky was littered with thousands upone thousands of bright stars shone the path of gods onto the land that once worshipped them. But those days were long gone and the absence of purity and light brought with it the gloom over hang of darkness and evil. And in its wake a new force was waiting to extend its reach over this land. But the day was not here yet, soon afar would the world bow on their knee to the power of Chaos, but for now his deciple, zion, would have to do his work. The cool wind blew across zions face and cooled off the warm sweat that ran down his dirty bloody skin. He had been running for sometime now, trying to chase his dinner, but the deer was to fast and was able to elude him. In his childish rage he stormed off down a grassy hill into some giant rocks. It was dark now and the only light came from the stars over head. Zion looked up in awe at the many tiny sparkling lights that hung over his head. No one was around so he did not have to worry about protecting him self right now, thus he decided to lay and rest. Falling back in the wet grass, his cloak resting in the soft weeds under him. This was a very quiet and calm night, one of the quietist zion had in a while. always being chased around and attacked, he was never able to rest. but he loved the action, seeing how he ended up always killing someone or something, and most times he even left an encounter with a full belly, that was his favorite part. But he had no food tonight, and no one to harass, So a long lay in the night could be fun. WRONG! after the first ten minuets zion got bored and started to roll in the grass. singing a small tune he rolled like a child. Oh rabbit, dont run, i gonna eat you! oh rabbit dont run, i only want a taste! His voice was shrill and childlike sounding, have a stupid sense of mind to it. Any one seeing him would think he had gone insane, actually he was insane. |

The ruins were spectacular to an old scavenger like Taiaka. Though the crumbling architecture was picked clean long ago and creeper vine and kudzu reigned, they were still a sight to behold. The shifter casually picked his way through like a tourist, sometimes changing forms to better accommodate the landscape. Sweating, he finally stopped at a large outcropping of scattered boulders and watched the crows as he ate his lunch. By the time the sun had set, Tai was deeper into the encroaching forest than he had anticipated. Discernable ruins were few and far between, most complete taken by Mami Nature. Twisted trees sowed thousands of years ago stretched high into the star speckled canopy, muffling the tinny songs of crickets and cicadas. It was peaceful, he had to admit, but it was also terrifyingly vacant, although he forest teamed with life. In fact Taiaka had seen a stag just before dusk with a rack of antlers that would make a moose blush. But not another man did he see. Now, in the deepest part of the night, the shifter was crouched on the banks of a thin stream shaving the stubble on his chin with his dagger. It was the only action his blade got other than skinning the occasional rabbit or picking his teeth. All was quiet save for the strangled gurgle of the brook…and a shrill voice, singing. Taiaka stood upright and dried his face and hands on his kilt. Oh rabbit, don’t run, I gonna eat you! Oh rabbit don’t run, I only want a taste! The sound was close. He sheathed his dagger and, as quietly as he could, moved towards the singing. As he approached a clearing, Taiaka saw a grown man rolling around in the sweet grass. From the hard trilling of the song and the odd juvenile words, the shifter expected a child…in the dead of night. Expectedly, the shifter heart began to race. Tai stood uneasily then, exposed in the dim star light, and meekly coaxed a roll of soft canvas out of the end of a waxed dreadlock. He wasn’t sure if he was noticed yet or not. Quick fingers opened the canvas, revealing a sliver of charcoal at its center; he began sketching hastily and unconsciously smiled as he did. With a final stroke, a small and only slightly misshaped rabbit pulled itself off the page. Taiaka set it on the ground and stepped back, urging the critter forward with his toe. It hopped in sloppy arcs over to the man in the grass. |

The moist wet grass continued to be crushed under his small frail body, zion left a indention in the grass were his body and rolled back and forth, leveling the grass and creating a trench like structure. The dark night watched over the demon as stars of bright gazed down on the man. The gods surly hated him, and fate was so stacked against him that he could not even get a meal. The dark forest bore many creatures, some bigger and stronger than zion, but not one of them he was afraid of. The metal gauntlets on his hands rattled and clanked in the night, being just about the only other sound he could hear. Still singing zion stopped rolling and looked up into the sky. The childlike words escaping from his mouth, a tear falling down his cheek. Zion was still young compared to the life span his race held. Actually being a human his race did not hold a very long life span. The simple fact that he would die of old age made him scared. Not his mental instabialty, or his over loving desire for blood, no he would surly die from old age. He missed his mom and dad, their soft touch and their loving embrace, haha no he did not miss that, he was sad that he could no longer taste the flesh and blood that his parents had. Locking him up was their mistake, for the warm blood that gussed from his mothers neck was the prize he would have died for. No he did miss his parents, but he did not love them. Suddenly a movement in the distance caught his attention. A small animal moved around, rustling and breaking the grass. He sat up and stopped singing, wiping the dried blood from his face. There was a small rabbit walking toward him in the grass. But it was a odd looking rabbit. It was weirdly shapen and miscoloered, but he did not care, food was food. He jolted onto all fours and began to walk at the rabbit in a stalking sort of motion. He licked his lips and allowed his tounge to hang out like a dog. His mucles tensed and his heart slowed, the demon inside him smiled at the kill he was about to achieve. you gonna die little bunny. You gonna be food for zion, yes yes. zion laughed manically as he pounced, his body aimed to crush the small rabbit, sending its guts over his chest. He hoped that it would not run for he did not want to chase it, tonight he would feast. |

The rabbit gave a papery coughing sound when Zion pounced on it. The little thing was fragile and the man’s weight crushed it into a ripped, twitchy ball; it was dramatic in its death, squealing quietly as its charcoal eyes bulged out of its canvas skull. Taiaka couldn’t help but laugh. The shifter was standing a short distance away and he folded his arms over his bare chest. “I’m afraid my little friend there would make a poor meal.” He said kindly around a wary smile. “’Hope I didn’t startle you. I mean you no harm.” Taiaka seemed to shrug, showing the man his palms. The shifter was never good at introductions or impromptu meetings. The races of Chaon festered with prejudices; Star Gazers, with their black skin and their ability to shift into any creature, ate babies out of cribs. They were touched by the Dark Ones, the gods of old; they were not to be trusted. Taiaka was accustomed to treading lightly…and he had not eaten a baby in many a year. The shifter put his hands on his belly, “I’m hungry too though.” He was; it was not a lie. His lunch had been a handful of sugar roots and some dry marrow that he chewed out of a couple of rib bones. “Ain’t nothing ‘round for miles though.” He let the statement hang between them, thicker than the sound of crickets. |

At first zion was not to sure what had happened. All he knew was that the rabbit he had just smashed with his belly was dead and ready to eat. But he did not feel the warm blood or sticky flesh on his skin, something was odd about this bunny. Zion rolled off and layed on his back, breathing hard after his attack. He had almost forgot about the bunny he had just killed, licking his lips he moaned for food. Then springing back up, with a devilish grin on his face, he dove at the rabbi. But he was not happy when he found what was really there. A ruse, a trick of some sort. He knew he had been tricked when his eyes gazed down on the crumpled piece of paper. He plopped down on his back side and looked at the ball of paper with tear filled eyes. All he wanted was a nice rabbit to eat, but no he could not even have that. Why were the gods so set against him. Suddenly a voice echoed out in the ruins, one that seemed friendly and comforting. The noise hit his ears instantly, and made him turn to where the voice and started. A strange looking man was standing just atop a hill, standing there with a smile and a laugh on his face. He told zion that that bunny was no good for a meal, and well zion could not process that correctly. “So you took my tasty bunny from me! I eat you if no give back! zion stood, the tears gone from his face now. Pointing up at the man he had a snarled look on his face, but he was not going to attack yet. He was in no mood for a fight and well the man before him did not provoke him as a danger, just yet. |
