Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

A large furry creature was walking up the side of a small dune. He wore a kilt, and a scarf with a hood, both were almost the same color as his fur. He held a spear in his right hand, and a hawk was perched on the other. He gazed out across the open sands, his home. He sat on top of the dunes and watched the sun rise fully over the horizon. Behind him, his little village was finally waking. Mothers re-lit old fires, beat the dust out of the rugs, sharpened knives. Children washed their faces and helped prepare breakfast. The men went to work, tending to the various needs of the camp; feeding the hawks, the bird-mounts, the desert gazelle. The head smith was relighting the forge fire, he had done nothing but cold metal work for the past week. The butcher slaughtered fresh goats and sheep for the start of the day. The furry man stood, turned his back on the sun and walked back to the village.

He entered his two story brick hut, filled with family members. He was hit by the smell of goat sausage, goat milk, and flat bread. He walked over to a low table which was just a large slab of wood, about an inch above the ground, around which were several cloth mats. He sat down on one of the mats and folded a large slice of sausage in a piece of flat bread. It was very hot, and very spicy. When he had finished eating he gave his mother and sister a kiss and walked out of his home, toward the Main House; a large mud building with a large entry way. This was where the chief ate, and did his work. Shuett had to talk with him about Asher. The hawk needed medicine for the gash on his foot, but the medicine man was in The City. He needed permission to leave and look for other means of taking care of his familiar.

The chief sat on his lavish silk mat, at the head of a low table, covered with papers and clay tiles. A small scribe, an "assistant" from The City. Shuett did not like slaves, but, he could not influence the chief on such matters. He cleared his throat loudly, a deep rumbling sound like the falling of boulders. The human scribe looked up and tapped the chief on the shoulder. The chief stopped dictating and took a long glance at Shuett. The chief had black fur, very different than the sandy tones of the locals; the tone of his coat was one of the main reasons he had so many wives. He also had one large scar across his face, ear to snout. It was hard to notice, as it was covered with hair. He waved the scribe away and sat up fully in his chair. He smiled a large grin at Shuett and spoke to him in their native tongue, "What do you need today Shuett? Another goat?" he smiled. They had met as children, Shuett stealing a goat from the now chief's father. Shuett smiled back and laughed a laugh that was more of a bark. "Why do you keep that hairless pet of yours," his expression grew slightly darker, "you of all people know they do not accept our kind." the chief nodded gravely, Shuett smiled again, "But, I came here to ask you for a favor. I need to leave for a while. Asher needs medicine, and as you know, Hashet has left for The City." the chief nodded and said, "I shall tell Yurr that he will need to fill your quota." he nodded and inclined his head toward Shuett. Shuett repeated the gesture and left.

The sun was just rising, and the sands were still immensely cool from last night. He walked quickly over to the Falconry, and gave the injured Asher to the head attendant. "Take care of him now, I will be back soon." he turned his back on the man and headed east for the medicine man's foraging grounds. He flicked his spear into the holster on his back, and started to run on two feet, gradually shifting into a quadrupedal lope. It would be nightfall before he reached The Grass Field.

Helegu was wandering the dessert trying to heat up. The desert was his favorite place to bask in the sun. The only thing he did not like was the limited hunting spots. Also there was not much food to eat.He had been in the sun all day that day. He did not eat much either so at this time he was hungry. He did not know what there was to eat. He could not go to the woods because he was to deep in the desert.

He got to the top of the sand dune and stood high on both legs. He saw nothing, just a whole lot of sand. Then he looked up in the sky and just saw a bird. "Well better than nothing." He said as he pulled out his bow. He removed one bow from his quiver and pulled back the bow string. He aimed upward and let go. The arrow went high and came back down. Then he jumped to the side a little avoiding the arrow as it hit the soft sand and made a big smash throwing sand in his eyes. Blinded, Helegu stumbled and rolled off the dune all the way to the bottom.

He got to his feet and rubbed his eyes in pain. Then he heard something like something running on the sand. He looked up and with blurred vision tried to make out what the strange figure was. 'It looked like a small dog' he thought. Then he said aloud "It looks like the only meal i'll get." So he ran into range trying to run quietly so he wouldn't startle it. He reached for his bow but it wasn't there Then he realized he left it at the dune.

He couldn't let this one get away so he grabbed an arrow out of his quiver. He tried to get closer for he had less range. Even though he was still had a little blurred vision he threw the arrow. He threw it ahead of the thing to try and lead the shot . He then continued to run towards it.

Shuett ran up the side of a dune when he stopped short. He saw an arrow embed itself in the sand in front of him. He turned around quickly, and saw a large lizard man, running directly toward him. Shuett, stared in disbelief, as the creature grew nearer and nearer. His eyes widened, and he began to run again, this time faster than before.

He felt sand fly out from beneath his feet, kicking up a wall of sand with each bound. He saw a rock formation ahead, it was familiar, it was one of the markers for The Grass Field. He ran up to the formation, leaping from rocky crag to crag. He reached the top, and stood, pulling out his spear, ready to face his hunter, whoever it was.

The arrow missed and the ceature ran. He grabbed his arrow off the ground adding it to his quiver. Then he looked up and the dog-like animal was on some rock formations. As quick as he could he leaped from rock to rock till one of the rock he jumped against shifted. Because the rock shifted he missed the next rock so he fell to the ground. When he hit the ground there were many small jagged rocks .

As he tried to stand he fell again from the pain. Then he quickly used a heal spell and it heal the sratches and bruises from his back and the stinging from his eyes. After he failed the first attempt he tried again more carefully this time. As he jumped back and forth between rocks he pulled an arrow from his quiver and threw it at the dog on top of the rocks. He continued untill the rock right below the top pulled his sword and lunged at the thing.
