Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

AD had a baby steel dragon perched on her right shoulder, leaning forward far enough that she had to grip the shoulder of AD's bodice with her front claws to stop herself from falling off. As Aether Draka came upon the Inn they had passed earlier the little dragon almost toppled from AD's shoulder entirely as it chirped in draconic, "Here!"

With a giggle, Aether Draka caught the baby dragon and headed for the door of the building, looking up at the sign as she did. "The Oasis Inn." she said to herself and gave a shrug. As AD pushed the door open, the steel dragon clambered onto AD's right shoulder, ducked under her thick braids, and peered out from over AD's left shoulder. The only sign of the little dragon was her tail, curled across AD's caller bone like a steel necklace. Turin flew in behind them before the door shut, taking the initiative to scout out the room for anyone they knew. The small copper fly dragon had been with AD since her arrival in Imythess after all, so he knew nearly all the people she did. AD simply made her way to the bar, wondering if the place was really the oasis it clamed to be...

With the pass having been opened once more, albiet some time ago, business was well at The Oasis. That is not to say that it had ever done poorly, Issachius served the best food and drink in the town (especially in his own opinion) and he enjoyed nothing better than to mingle amongst the throngs. listening and talking all the same. Night was settling in, and the dichotomy that was dessert life was becoming quite apparent, the siroccos of the day yielded to the zephyrs of the night.

The young women entering the inn was no local, but the taproom had it's host of travelers, and more still the inn. There were rooms for let, he'd take care of that. She had the look of a traveler, with jewelry and clothes from a few different locales. It was her necklace that first met his attention.

There is an unspoken of sense, among dragons, that tells one another of their presence, their strength, and of kin. It was seldom mentioned to outsiders, and seldom needed mentioning among their own. Yes, this hatchling was kin. Not literally perhaps, but that seldom mattered. Valen was indeed the son of his sister, but this little one he did not know of. Not that it mattered, such was the way of the steel dragons.

Issachius still had his secrets to keep, for now. He treated her as any guest, and after she found a table, he brought out bread and wine, with an offer of food and lodging to follow.

Aether Draka was surprised when she was approached by someone serving wine and bread. She was used to hiding in much lesser places, taverns of shadows and secrets, with blood hiding between the floorboards and dagger hidden under cloaks. She wasn't sure what to say and any words caught in her throat. She simply nodded her thanks to the server as she stared at the glass and bread that was still fresh.

"That's the one!" the baby steel dragon whispered in AD's left ear in draconic. Her voice even higher pitched then normal due to the dragon's excitement. Aether Draka felt the muscles on the baby's legs tense as she debated weather or not she should reveal herself now, with so many here, when he was clearly hiding what he was...

Turin came over and lighted near the dish of food, his telepathic words lended to both AD and the baby dragon. <Accept the room AD. Give the little one a chance to speak with him.>

She swallowed the uncertainty in her throat and offered the man who was speaking to her a smile. "Actually, could I have some food brought up to a room? If it isn't too much trouble?"

"Of course M'ladies... Third from the left is open to you. A corner room, with gentle furnishings. For you, one gold a night is more than sufficient. If you'll be staying longer, we may come to an agreement on such matters. There is Spiced Beast being served tonight, fresh bread and greens. This fine red accents quite nicely you'll find. If you would repair to your room, I'll bring this up shortly.

Issachius waits for a response, bows politely, and walks off to have a word with the bartender.

Aether Draka was so surprised by the unexpected hospitality that she simply nodded and stood, heading up the stairs. Behind her on the table sat the wine and bread, untouched, as she counted the doors on the left.

Some people might think that a gold was expensive, but for what the inn here offered, it was not an unreasonable price. The building was erll made and quite cool inside despite the hot weather and with a single fire lit downstairs it managed to stay warm when it was cold during the night. It wasn't something AD noticed though. Instead she noticed that the room was larger then any she had 'stayed' in before. She honestly never got a room to sleep in, as she never slept. She did get them on occasion for other reasons though and no one ever saw someone getting a room in an inn as odd.

Turin looked at the food left behind and decided to fly after AD. He came in the door before she closed it and watched as he hovered in midair as Aether Draka made her way about, looking at the room.

((OOC: please tell me what the room looks like!))

The inn is built in a comfortable, airy, Arabic style with stone construction, arched windows and doors, and high ceilings. The tables were a little more conventional, and the patrons sat on benches and chairs rather than pillows. The dining area also had private booths, curtained off for quiet conversation. Above, the rooms were simple yet elegantly furnished in a style neither opulent nor spare. Two wooden chairs and a table between were placed against one wall, opposite the bed. Some rooms had two single beds, others a double, and one or two a large raised bowl of sorts, with pillows all around filled the need. In one corner a domestic palm gave some life to the room, and a the room would have either a divan, or another sort of lounge chair. A large window looks out from the room, and a small bed of aromatic herbs fills the room with pleasant smells. Issachius has a small library and will lend a book or scroll to a guest, with a deposit to ensure it's return.

((OCC: I am unsure as to how "casual" magic is here. He's not opulent, but if light spells for a room would be the norm, then the rooms are thusly lit. Otherwise a simple brazier in a corner provides some light for the room. Same goes for the library.))

With the arrival of this guest, and the woman whom she came perched on, Issachius has every intention to welcome this hatchling well. He retrieves the wine and bread he placed before them (once they have gone up) and retrieves the skin from the bar. With a word to his bartender and cook he quickly prepares select, tender pieces of the spiced beast, and adds a personal touch to the flavoring - cinnamon spice grated over the savory broth. To the plates, he adds fresh, cool greens, and also some mashed potatoes with tarragon and pepper. He then prepares his own meal (in the same manner as theirs) and takes the wine and plates on a platter, and follows them upstairs. Outside the door, he places his own plate on a tray in the hall, just in case.

Knocking on the door, he announces their meal and waits to enter. On entering he begins with "My ladies it will be a pleasure to serve you both this evening. May I ask also the pleasure of joining you for this meal?"

The place was very.... open? It sort of reminded her of the desert some and that bothered her a bit. AD didn't like to be out in the open. Being very much a rogue at heart, even though she had taken up more magical teachings and the leadership of the longest standing guild in Imythess, AD preferred places more like the forest over the desert. She was looking out the large window when a knock on the door caused her to turn, her hand going to the pouch at her hip. It was only the same gentlemen, the one the baby steel dragon was looking for and why they were even here. Before AD could answer him, the little one launched herself off AD's shoulder, useing her wings to control her short flight, before landing on the bed with a audiablle 'poof'.

"Yes please! You are like me, are you not Sir?" The baby chirped very excitedly in draconic and bounded to the edge of the bed before raising her noise in the air, one of her forelegs lifted. "Oh my! That smells wonderful!" A smile formed on her angler face.

Aether Draka laughed, she couldn't help herself. She let her hand fall away from the bag at her hip, the only thing she seemed to carry with her as there were no weapons on her. It gave her the look of a useless peasant to some and a powerful magic user to others. "I do believe introductions come first. I am Aether Draka. This is Turin," AD lifted her hand and the small copper fly dragon landed on the tips of her fingers, "and the small one on the bed there says she wants to look around more before choosing a name for herself. So I can't help you there." AD was smiling still, one that showed true happiness and that erased much of her previous unease.

"And I am Issachius, proprietor of this inn. Indeed you are all welcome here." He looks towards his "niece" and bows, smiling warmly. Here too, he shifts forms into a hybrid draconic one, being with "relatives" he feels safe this way. "In such company, you are indeed well come to my abode. I wouldn't be surprised at my niece's intention there, Lady Draka. Among dragonkind, a carries no small weight. If her parents haven't given her one, it is up to her to find it. We should not keep our meal waiting however. Please let me serve you. He pulls out a chair for Aether Draka,

First, Issachius places the plates of food for his guest, then he recovers his own, and places it. Next he expertly pours the wine and seats himself at the table. When seated he lifts his glass to them both, with a wink to his "niece" "Here's a health to the company / and one to my lass / let us drink and be merry / all out of one glass!" Issachius dines with enthusiasm, and decorum, and makes merry an hour or more for them all. At some point in the meal, the obvious question arises "I suppose it was at my "niece's" behest which brought you this way? Or is there something you seek within the sands? The pass north has been opened for some time now too. Fortune has favored us both with your arrival, I hope you will stay some time under my roof?
