Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Kreos was walking the fallen structures of of an Ancient City. These were old and ancient stones, wrought from the earth itself. He lightly touched one whenever it came withing arm's reach. He was humming a song under his breath. Bo was trotting beside him happily, tongue lolling about. He knew this place. It held the bodies of countless dead. Kreos tolerated the dead, but not the living dead. Once a thing died, it should stay dead. Forever. He was afraid of the undead. He believed in nature, and they went against nature. He subconsciously touched the hilt of his knife. He looked up. To the east there were dark, black clouds brewing. There would be one hell of a storm. He looked for a suitable shelter, he found a fallen column, that was covered by a large slab of stone. The area underneath was large enough for two people to crouch. He lit a small fire underneath and made a wall of stones on one opening. There was only one way in and out. He knew that there were bandits and other things in this area, so, he wanted to at least feel safe as he tried to sleep. He set down his hammock and used that as his pillow. And, with his cloaks as his bed and blanket, he slept. He slept a restless and uneasy sleep filled with dreams of grinning skeletons and sinewy dead.

Evals wandered around aimlessly. Things always bugged her when dealing with new people. So she decided to just walk around the ruins. It wasn't that any of them annoyed her, it's juat that she seems to get annoyed. Weird thing it was for the Undead girl. Oh well, nothing better to do besides wandering. Looking to the skies, it was no mistake that there was going to be a big storm. How long would it last? Maybe a day or two as it seemed. The clouds even frightened her slightly just from the power it seemed to have, nothing to truly worry about nonetheless.

Evals walked with her hands behind her head like it mattered how she stretched or for comfort. Looking around, she ended up seeing someone go off into a part of the ruins and seeming to make camp there. Well, now what to do about this. Kill him right away or have someone to talk to. What was he anyways? Certainly not Undead so he was either trespassing or stupid.

Flipping an imaginary coin, she decided to play with his mind and see how to take advantage of the situation. How much money could she leech off of him? She waited a little while and the storm started to fall upon the ruins. She had disguised herself in a Polymorph, to appear as a living being. None of her weapons visible. She went into under the shelter and sat against the ground next to him, her body partically soaked from the rain. She only wondered if he would wake up soon or not. Why did he sleep in a place like this?

Kreos woke up to see a woman sitting next to him in the fire light. "WOAH!" he exclaimed and jumped upward, hitting his head on the solid stone. Bo jumped up and sat in front of the man. Kreos slammed back down on his bottom and rubbed his head. He hated waking up surprised. He adjusted his jacket and rubbed the back of his head. It was already swollen and throbbing. "Sorry, you startled me." he smiled and patted Bo's head. Bo plopped down and rested his head on Kreos's knee. He pulled out a few peices of jerky and flat bread. "Would you like some?" he said as he gave Bo a piece of jerky. He pulled out a wineskin. He took a sip and set it down between himself and the woman. He rested his swollen head against the sloping stone. "What brings you to these parts?" he asked politely. He had few friends and was always looking for new ones. She seemed nice enough.

Evals sat there with her knees bent up and close to her chest as she tried to run the water out of her hair. Everything felt so much heavier, now that she could actually feel again. She had gotten used to it but the water just made it worse. Her clothes were so heavy, and her hair didn't feel comfortable. She had given up her attempts of getting rid of the water and seemed to lul her head on her knees and watch the storm outside. It was heavy and there was lightning once in a while.

Then when he woke up, it even made her jump. Her head shot up and she watched him as he hit his head on the stone. She winced remembering how painful pain really was and the time she hit herself in the head with that cup. He instantly woke up and went into speaking and being polite. Even asking where she came from and whys he was here. To answer that question she just thumbed out at the storm.

She also shook her head at the jerky too. She didn't want any, and when she turned back to normal it would just be sitting there to rot the whole time. She looked at the dog and thought about petting it. Animals were cool, in her opinion. As for startling him, she seemed to have gone in reserve order. She went and wrote out 'Sorry' in the dirt so that he could read it. Why was she not speaking? Was she pretending to be a mute now? Well, learning to read and write helped quite a bit.

"Oh, no harm done" he said. He took a bite of the jerky and took a sip of wine. It was spiced and reminded him of winter. He added a few more sticks to the fire and handed the girl a warm blanket. It was quite cold in here. It was really storming out. He shivered slightly and hummed a song. An old song from the woodelves. He smiled and patted Bo. Bo walked behind Kreos, shifting him forward. Kreos grunted and patted the dog's back. "Bo likes to sleep against the wall." He shifted his weight. The heat of the fire in the small space was making him sleepy. His eyes fluttered. "So, what is your name, young lady" he said, his speech already starting to blur with sleepiness. He shook his head to stay awake. He locked his eyes on the girl's. He smiled and started to drift off the sleep again.

Evals took the blanket and looked at him. Her eyes just giving off a small glimpse of innocence. Behind that she was just wondering how trusting he was, honestly he was treating her like they had known each other for a while. Was he up to something? Maybe he was some kind of killer and planned to kill her in her sleep? No, she was just being paranoid again. Not like it would work anyways, if she even planned to sleep tonight.

Nonetheless she wrapped the blanket around her and held it tight. She still felt the cold when like this, and it wasn't very enjoyable. Now did other people survive in the frozen north? Oh well, nothing to be concerned about right now. When he asked her her name, she nodded and her hand went back to the ground. She wipped away the sorry and began to spell other her name, her false name. Not going to bother giving him the real one, if he was going to live the night at all with her around.

'Emily' the dirt now said, she looked down at it like something troubled her. A small act backed up by other things that were troubling her. She looked at the storm and back into the cave and she tried to smile at least. She wrote again next to her name so that he could read it. She didn't really care but it was being polite. 'Your name?'

Kreos was shaken awake by the scratching of a stick on dirt. "My name is Kreos. You have a nice name Emily." Kreos pulled out a small tin cup and filled it with water. He set it on the coals and let it get hot. He produced a small baggy of herbs. When the water was almost boiling he dropped the bag in and removed the cup from the coals. He let the bag sit for a few minutes and then threw the spent bag into the fire. He drank his makeshift tea. It soothed his cracked throat. "Emily, would you like something to drink? Tea, coffee, water?" He pulled out each item as he said it, from one of the many pockets under his cloak, or from his sack. He smiled slightly. She was a lot like a girl he had met in the Istan, she was small, kind, and mute. He waited for a bit and said, "You know what...I am sorry, but, I walked very far today, about 50 miles. And as you can see I am dead tired. Please help yourself to food and drink as you see fit. I do need a nap. Bo can keep you company." Kreos nestled down into a small ball in the corner of the shelter. He was cozy. Bo was staring at the woman intently. He could tell something was wrong. Kreos however did not, because he was deep into a dreamless sleep.

Evals nodded at his name and smiled when he said that her name was nice. What was she going to do with him? How much should she manipulate the situation. She watched as he made some tea and only shook her head when she was offered something. She was only wondering how she would throw things into the mix next. Then things became a bit more clear on how she should go about this, see how much she could play this card. Play Emily's game.

In the storm two cloaked beings walked towards where the command was told to come. Both seeming skinny behind living possiblity when the skin pushed against their cloaks. The storm was raging, and they didn't seem very phased, or even concerned by it. Well, they were outside the shelter and the fire light could be seen by them now. They stood there until things were more ready.

Evals looked out when she felt the other Undead show up. They were her's all right. Two Skeletons Troops, usually kept them with her. When the dog noticed them, the closer skeleton seemed to come closer into the shelter and look through. Evals watched for a second and seemed to shake Kreos slightly. See how he reacted to two Skeletons with swords. She made it seem like she was nervous. The hoods were down, slack jaw skulls. Empty eyes, commanded ambition.

Kreos was shaken awake, and thusly greeted by two bleach white skulls. He scrambled up against the wall behind him, his eyes huge with fear. Bo was snarling, and stood in front of his master. Kreos couldn't move. He saw them, two cloaked abominations. They were carrying weapons. There faces forever grinning a mirthless smile. His breathing became ragged. His vision blurred, then snapped into sharp focus. He saw only the two faces, the bones. He could not scream, his lungs couldn't fill with enough air, he felt like he was drowning in the dark sludge of fear. He looked over to Emily, who looked nervous. He numbly slammed his left hand on the low wall of rubble, leaving a gaping hole for her to escape. "Run..." he said; it felt like breathing through clay, so the words came out as only a breathless whisper. He did not want the girl to die. He grabbed a burning stick from the fire, ignoring the severe pain. He threw the stick in the directing of the skulls, and watched as the bottom of the cloak began to smolder. He then vomited on the fire, accidentally. Then he passed out, slipping into a deep velvet darkness.

Evals watched him instantly recoil in fear. He didn't look so good, he was utterly terrified, but that was just fun. She backed up a bit as he slammed his fist on the wall and some of it fell part. He was obviously not dealing with this situation very well. Had she hit a jackpot, did Undead scare him that much? Not taking any moment, she crawled through the hole in the wall and she waited there to see if he would follow. Something smelled and she looked back in. Kreos had vomitted from fear then passed out.

She waited a bit as the Skeleton knocked the dog so it would hit the wall and hopefully be knocked out. With that out of the way, Evals watched from outside, trying to ignore the rain as the skeleton went to take his bony fingers to remove his left eye from his socket. It would be rough but painful. Maybe it would jolt him awake. For now, Evals wondered how much she could play it off that she was trying to help him.

The Two Skeletons left and Evals worked quickly before he would wake up. He fainted so he might not. She put her hands out and webbing came out and started to cover in front of the main enterance and the other hole that was there. She put her blanket over her nose to block out the smell, it was disgusting really. Hopefully he would wake up, the blood was slowly pooling into the earth. It might be fun explaining how "Emily" could spin webs.

Kreos's mind screamed with pain. He screamed. His throat gave way and he went silent. His body was completely screaming. He could only see out of his left eye. He thought something was on top of it and tried to move his hands. They came away red with blood. He looked for Bo, he was unconscious next to him he saw a pool of dark liquid, pooling around him. He saw a skeleton, holding something. Kreos vomited again. It was his eye. He couldn't breath. "Oh dear god," he thought "I hope Emily..." Emily. She was sitting next to him, with the blanket covering her mouth. There was webbing blocking the entrances. He wept silently out of one eye. His head hurt, he was going to die. They were going to die. He stopped crying, took deep, shuddering breaths. He pulled out his knife, and gave it to Emily. He spoke extremely quietly, barely a whisper, "If they come in, cut the webs and run. Take Bo with you, bring him to Norwood. Please." he grabbed at her shoulder and passed out again.

Evals watched as the skeletons retreated after the webbing was put around the area. All as she wanted. Well, he was telling her to flee if they came in here again. He passed out again. Well, maybe she should stop the bleeding. Only if he was an Undead being she could make the bleeding stop. Putting her hand over his now empty socket, she had webbing cover up the spot where it was bleeding and cover over the eye socket so that it was a makeshift patch.

When that was done she covered up the vomit under the blanket, the fire had been put out. Besides the lightning it was dark, she couldn't make another fire. It was up to Kreos if he would wake up. She shook him lightly, and waited for it to end. She couldn't do much if he was asleep like this. The dog was still unconcious, well that was good enough. She looked at the knife he handed her, how would she use it against him?

Kreos woke up again. He had webbing on his eye. He was confused and paranoid. He was cold too. He looked at the blanket, gathered some dried grass from next to him, muttered a few words, and lit the blanket on fire. He threw a small bag of herbs on the fire to get rid of the vomit smell. The room was filled with the smell of rosemary and sage. His eye was throbbing. He groaned in his head, and coughed. The bleeding had stopped. Had Emily done this? "Did y-you do th-this?" he was shuddering. If she had, what was she? Maybe she was a benign mage, or just a child who knew how to stop the bleeding. The fire warmed his bones. He pulled Bo's body toward him. He wrapped him in his hammock. He was still alive, just unconscious. He sighed in relief. He was coping with the pain. If they could hold out till morning, everything would be just fine.

Evals sat there when he woke up, he seemed a little frantic about everything and getting another fire going. At least it got rid of the smell of the vomit. There was another fire, when he asked about his eye she just nodded. Putting her hand on the wall behind her, not looking at it. She tapped it once to get his attention and ran her hand down the wall as a thin line of webbing seemed to cover it. Where was she going with this? Who knew. What could she make him think?

When that was over with, she looked at him and then towards outside. So, she wanted to know how he felt about the Undead. He was scared enough to puke, that was for sure. Going back to the ground she wrote out another small set of words. 'You scared?' All it was for now, he might explain to her what had come upon him. She turned to his knife and looked at it in thinking.

What would 'Emily' do with it? Probably help him. What would Evals do with it? Hurt him, destroy his sense of trust in people. It was pretty fun to keep him alive with the suffering that the Undead could put on him when she felt like it.

She did do this. his eyes widened as she drew a line of web on the rock. Well, she could still be kind. She probably made the barriers to keep the skeletons out. He looked down at what she was writing. "Yes, I am scared. Very." he spoke in a flat, calm tone. He took a few deep breaths and grabbed the spiced wine. He took a few gulps. It burned his raw throat at first, but after a few sips it was fine. He listened to the thunder in the distance. He loved rain, it smelled wonderful, and it lightened his mood. The low, constant rumble of thunder calmed him. The flash of lightening showed the two figures outside of the shelter. He felt a cold, deep pit form in his stomach. When day came, they might leave. Or, more might come. Maybe Emily could restrain them with the webbing, or...he pushed more sinister thoughts about the girl out of his head.
