Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Kairi knew it...she knew that she should have stayed on the road to Norwood Village, but noo, she had to take the road that leads past the cemetary. She had to get to the general store to get a small vile. Crap...why didn't listen to that old woman that told me the way. She kept talking to herself, putting her self down about how she needs to start listing to wise people instead of to her eyes.

Kairi was walking for hours, and she still was lost...there was no way she was going to be able to find Norwood Village at this rate. Instead she might end up finding her death here.

With each step he took, Seth felt the gnawing hunch that he would be doing combat soon growing. There was no reason for it, aside from prior experience: every time the healer-turned-warrior had visited these ruins before, he'd wound up battling undead or evil beings of some dastardly sort.

Why he even agreed to meet Evals in this place anymore still eluded him, though he assumed it was because she was more comfortable on her own turf.

His golden eyes sweeped the path, seeing clearly despite the surrounding darkness through a power of his own. Footsteps reached his ears from further down the road, making him instinctively reach back and draw forth his blade. They seemed to quick and steady to belong to undead, but one could never be certain nowadays. The holy power emenating from the blade threw minor amounts of light about, enough to signal whatever was approaching that there was someone else ahead as well.

Kairi kept walking, and talking to herself until she saw the small amount of light. She stopped and tried to get a closer look at it before she did something she would regret. W-Who's there? Kairi was scared that this could be a hunter, or someone that would harm her. She could not think straight enough to start a spell, but her hands where shaking in fear.

She did not move, she would wait for the person to come to her before she would do anything, or so she thought. In fact, she was to scared to move. She hated that she was scared of almost anything that surprised her, or a stranger on the street.

She took deep breaths. Because she was a Moonelf, her blue eyes glowed slightly in the night. She knew who ever was ahead of her, would be able to see her eyes in the darkness of this night.

There came a voice, one which Seth easily perceived as frightened and maybe even a bit timid. The chances of this being some form of undead creature dropped significantly, even if he'd encountered speech-capable undead before. Before he gave any answer, though, he wished to let the both of them see more clearly.

He returned his blade to its sheath so as not to generate any fear, gazing out at two blue dots down the road. He could make out features behind them, ones which made him release a relieved sigh. An Elf of some kind, that was good news. With his palm open, the human began to call a small light into existence, one which steadily grew until the area was illuminated and each of them would hopefully be able to see clearly.

"Hello!" he called out nonchalantly, grinning brightly and waving at the frightened woman. With luck, he'd be able to dispel any of her fears without having to do much else, such as using a spell.

Kairi watched a the small light when away, and the sound of metal, hitting the sheath. She relized that the light was comming from as type of sword. On one hand, she was happy the sword went away, but on the other hand this made her more afraid than before, now she could not see the creature if it tried to attack her.

Out of no where, a light appered in the creatures hand, and she watched it as it grew. She could make out that the creature was a human. This did not calm her down any. She was worried that the human would try to harm her.

When the human called out to her, she let out a small yelp because she did not suspect him to say hello to her. H-H-Hello......

It would appear, from the way that this woman stuttered, that magic was going to be an expedient option. Turquoise light surrounded his free hand, casting a soft glow about- a stark contrast to the brilliance emenating from his other hand- and slowly, a green cloud began forming about Kairi. With luck, she'd calm down in a moment or two, and they could speak.

"What are you doing about these ruins alone at this hour?" came the first question which occured to him, though, remembering his manners, he quickly added, "I'm Seth," with a nod. She didn't appear harmful in the least, moreso frightened. He could already invision how this encounter would proceed: he'd likely wind up leading her out of the ruins, or at least accompanying her. Well, it wasn't as if Seth minded that in the least.

Kairi saw the strange man start to use magic. While he was doing his magic, she calmed down alot more than normally. "What are you doing about these ruins alone at this hour?" Was the mans first answer, but he quickly followed with his name. Kairi looked at the man, almost like she was studing him. I-I am Kairi. She waited a few moments, then decided to explain why she was here in the ruins.

I-I was looking for the road to Norwood Village..and I asked directions...but..i took a wrong turn, and now i am lost. Kairi told Seth the truthful answer. Now, my question for you, Kairi said as she took a deep breath. Why are you in the ruins at this hour? Kairi decided that if he asked her, she got to ask him.

Seth folded his arms over his chest, patiently awaiting Kairi's words. He gave a smile and nod once her name was given, finding it pleasant to the ear- it was uncommon, foreign. Perhaps she was from some elven village that he hadn't visited before? From her looks alone, it was what Seth wished to assume.

"Norwood?" he repeated, eyebrows perking up. He knew the exact route, even if it wasn't where he'd originally been headed- a side trip couldn't much hurt, though. "Well, that's unfortunate..." he mumbled, glancing around as a twig cracked off to one side. "I was visiting a friend who resides here in these ruins- odd, I know, but I don't question her- and was making my way out, as it happens."

Kairi watched Seth as he smiled and nodded. She wondered why he was smiling at her name. Does he think that my name is funny?...I really hope not. She kept her eyes on him as he repeated Norwood. After he said that he mumbled something that her elven ears picked up."Well, that's unfortunate..."was what he said. Kairi wondered why he said that, maybe he was going somewhere else.

She watched as he turned his head, as if to look for something, as he did this he said "I was visiting a friend who resides here in these ruins- odd, I know, but I don't question her- and was making my way out, as it happens." She waited a few minutes to see if he hand anything else to say. She finially responded Who is your friend that you meet? Kairi knew that she should not ask about the business of others, but she could not help herself, she was to curious about this man now.

There came between them a silence which, while not uncomfortable, was not exactly the type of interaction he would wish for. Silence was truly such an odd thing; with strangers, it could be awkward and unenjoyable, yet with close friends, silence was something pleasant.

He couldn't help but notice the way her ears perked up, likening it to the same action portrayed by about every animal he'd seen in his long life when they detected noise. Had she simply heard his mumbled statement of agreement, or was she, like him, picking up the noises all about them? A new question broke his train of thought, making him give a slightly confused, "Hm? Oh, her name is Evals," in response. Perhaps the zombie girl's name would be well-known here, but he wasn't counting on it.

"We should get moving to Norwood," he said after a pausing, striding off along the road once again. "If you follow me, we'll reach Norwood shortly," he intoned with a trustworthy grin, waiting to see if Kairi would indeed follow him through the darkness and danger about them.

Kairi looked at Seth. Evals? i do not think that i have heard of that name before. She tilted her head, as if she was thinking. She was thinking on the name, to make sure that she never heard of it before. After a short while she finally spoke to Seth.Nope, never heard of that name before. She kept her eyes on him to see his response.

He was silent, but he finally spoke."We should get moving to Norwood," He paused and started to walk. "If you follow me, we'll reach Norwood shortly," He smiled at her, and the smiled was gentle and kind, but Kairi still was not sure wether she could trust this man or not, but he was the only person in this place that she can feel like she can trust. She knew that she wasnt about to go find a undead person to ask for directions to Norwood.

Kairi stayed beside Seth, wondering if anything was going to attack them..she had a feeling that something would, but she did not know what. Flesh....Flesh. Kairi looked around, she heard the voice. The voice of the undead. Seth...d-did you h-hear that? She wished that it was apart of her imagination, but the feeling of something watching them told her other wise. The sound of things coming out of the earth, and the sound of dead leaves being walked on filled the night, it was thing that she realized that the undead where coming after them.

Well, perhaps it wasn't an entirely bad situation that 'Evals' was a foreign name to Kairi. Although the zombie had never personally harmed him- likely for fear of retaliation- he had heard rumors of what she was capable of, and had once or twice seen her fight first-hand. If Kairi had not had the (mis)fortune of meeting Evals before, then that may have indeed been a great stroke of luck, especially in these woods where one could vanish without a trace.

Out of the deep night, in the obscured forestation surrounding the travelling duo, there began to emanate calls for flesh and blood that Seth was slowly becoming accustomed to hearing. He sighed audibly, but never altered his pace; neither faster nor slower. Undoubtedly, Kairi had already heard the calls as well, a suspicion of his confirmed as she stuttered a question.

"Stay close by my side," he stated calmly, "and try not to look at them." The second piece of advice was more for her mental benefit; seeing the dead moving about and hungry for flesh was a harsh encounter indeed, but seeing them annihiliated would probably not be a positive experience either. Seth was already preparing his magic, ready to smite any creature that dared venture out into the path towards them. White flames flickered into life upon his hand, ready to be used at a moment's notice if need be.
