Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Cyrus sat high up in a tree on the outskirts of the village. From this height he could see the entire village. He knew this was an elven village, and he was smart to stay out. Humans were typically not very welcome, but a half elf would be even more unwanted. It didn't bother him to much. He has never been there so why miss what you never had. Still, Cyrus missed having someone to talk to. He could go without, but hey why would you deny a friend. Cyrus relaxed in his tree and let out a deep and heavy sigh. He continued to scan the village from the top of his tree. He pulled his hood over his eyes and slowly drifted off into sleep.

He awoke to rustling. The sun was beginning to set now and someone was walking from the village on the nearby path.. Cyrus perked up on his branch, careful not to make a sound, and settled in to watch whoever it was passing by. He could never be to careful when it comes to other people. Cyrus was attentive and alert, ready for anything

((In human form))

Ulfr had been wandering on a forest trail near the village of Norwood. Though he was a human werewolf, he still felt welcomed here, for he had met a very friendly weretiger by the name of Fara're in this place. She was were, he was a were, and the elves accepted her, and he was when he had came before.

Ulfr stopped walking, and sniffed the air. "Hmm, a human and an elven scent blended together? Must be a half human elf," Ulfr thought to himself. Noticing that this person was alone, he decided to invite them to a friendly conversation, and if the person wasn't such a friendly person, Ulfr could handle it.

"I know you're there, come on out and talk. I don't bite," Ulfr stated, while chuckling at his pun.

Rythen was in the woods outside Norwood village. He was just walking. not for any particular reason. Just walking. He was out for food as well but not at all concentrated on that.

He heard something. It was someone's voice. He recognized it. He had met the person before but could not recall who it was. He followed the voice, thinking who it might belong to.Who is that? How do i know them?He thought to himself. He figured it out all of the sudden. The werewolf!!he remembered. Now that Rythen knew who it was he was going to, he broke into a sprint to see what was going on and who the werewolf was talking to.

When Rythen arrived where the werewolf stood he noticed there was no one else around. He then caught a strange scent and wondered if it belonged to the target of the werewolf's words. Rythen said, "Who are you talking to?"

Cyrus peered down from his tree upon this new stranger. They had shouted to come out, but Cyrus had a feeling that he wasnt alone. He stayed quite for a moment waiting for someone else to come into sight. Sure enough he watched as another figure leaped through the forrest torward his tree. Cyrus watched this man getting closer and closer trying to see if he could recognize him. Seeing a glimmer coming from his belt, Cyrus stopped breathing. He remembered this man. He had tried to take his dagger not to long ago. Cyrus pressed against the tree and pulled out his bow and lowered it to his side. He knew that if one wasnt his friend, the other probably wasnt either.

Cyrus wasnt the same. He was stronger. He knew more than before. Maybe not enough to take two opponents, but why should he hang on to this world. Theres nothing for him here. Cyrus stood still but confident, waiting for him to be called out, waiting for anything.

While waiting for a reply from his werewolf acuaintance, Rythen pondered the stange sccent he had caught. Once again it was something familiar. Also it once again slipped his mind where he knew it from.

That scent!!! Rythen was suddenly angry. It was the man who robbed him a while back at the lake. He was unusually angry. He wanted to kill this man. He had to keep his cool until he found out if this man was a threat this time. Rythen tried as hard as he could to to restrain himself while waiting for his werewolf friend to speak.

While Ulfr had been waiting for a response to the person hidden in a nearby tree, an old friend had appeared before, bursting out of the the forest in a sprint and asked "Who are you talking to?"

Before Ulfr could respond, however, the scent in the tree changed from a curious disposition to one of a cautious nature. And to boot, it seemed Rythen recognized the scent, but wasn't too happy about it.

"Hey Rythen, just talking to a potential new buddy. Judging by the anger you're giving off, it seems you've met already, and not on the best of terms. Why don't you just calm down a little and take it easy?" Ulfr suggested to Rythen, for a werebear wasn't one to piss off.

Turning towards the trees Ulfr stated "Just come on down, I'll handle this over-sized teddy bear if I have to," trying to coax the person out of hiding, while at the same time attempting to prevent the situation from getting violent. Ulfr realized he could have chosen better words, but those would have to do.

The werewolf finally responded. Buddy? Why would he want this thief as a buddy? Rythen had to calm down. He was angry and it was obviously noticeable. He breathed slowly.

"Yea Ulfr, I know him. He tried to steal from me then tried to kill me. So i guess u could say it wasnt the best of terms." Then he was called a teddy bear. This caused anger to swell inside him again. Who is he calling a teddy bear?!

"You dont have to worry about me." Rythen said responding to Ulfr's comment. "I'm not here for a fight. I'm just here." Rythen continued to breath deeply and control his rage. Unless the thief attacked he would be able to hold himself back.

Cyrus was breathless. Completely frozen in place considering his next move. His old friend seemed incredibly angry, yet calm and in place. What had the other man shouted? an over sized teddy bear? was this man not completely human? Cyrus was not going to take a chance. His arms began to pulse with magical energy. This one had to go a good distance. He slowly raised his arm and pointed it at a tree about 50 yards off. With the silent mutter of the spell, a flash burst was fired at the tree in the distance.

It hit its mark with precise accuracy. Cyrus hoped this would distract them so he could put himself in a safer position with this encounter. He didn't know what was going to happen with these two, but one thing was certain. Cyrus had a strange feeling about this bear man. What had happened before was no mistake. These encounters were not coincidental. There was some divine reason for running into this man like this, and Cyrus was going to find out what. For better or for worse.

Rythen saw a flash of light, then nothing. Just nothing. Am I dead?! He saw nothing and heard nothing. He was alive. He felt himself hit the hard ground. What is happening?! Finally he saw something. Just a small bit of light straight in front of him. The light grew slowly bigger. It grew until he could see his surroundings though blurily. As soon as he could see he popped up to his feet.

Rythen looked around beared his teeth and snarled. "WHERE IS HE?!?!!! I'll kill him!!!" Rythen looked around quickly looking for signs of the thief. He smelled for his scent. He could not find it. He was still disoriented. He jumped into a tree and ran to the top for a better look. Rythen would not hold back if he found this man.

Ulfr thought his eyes were burning. His ears were ringing, and he didn't like it. It was situations like this that made being a werewolf a wonderful advantage. The bright flash and loud bang disoriented him to the point of falling on all fours. It was now that he went wolf; if scent was all he had left, he was going to boost it as much as possible.

Fur began to creep out of his skin, his face elongated into a muzzle, claws were born from his fingernails, and his teeth turned to fangs that would rip flesh in painful ways.

Ulfr sniffed the air, checking for scents. There was the average forest scents, then there was Rythen, and the human elf halfling.

As he was pinpointing the locations, his sight and hearing began to return to normal, he looked around, trying to access the area as best he could, and noted any changes. THe most obvious of which was, of course, Rythen. Demanding the wherabouts of the halfling in question form, then threating to kill him.

Ulfr jumped 10 ft up into the tree branch above him, then leapt towards the tree around 15 ft away, to a place almost 20 ft higher.

When he finally stopped, Ulfr turned towards the direction of the halfling's scent, a let loose a howl that would send shivers down a dragon's back.

Rythen knew the way Ulfr howled was the way the theif went. Without hesitation, Rythen was off in that direction. He was jumping through trees faster than ever. He would find this man and rip him to pieces. Rythen just kept going. He did not stop to smell for the man. He just hoped he was this way and not been passed.

Ulfr followed Rythen with his eyes and whined; he was angry, and was after the halfling. "I better go get Rythen..." Ulfr thought as he jumped down from the tree, stuck the landing, and chased after the enraged Rythen.

Ulfr was gaining on him quickly, every second closing 3 ft of distance. When Ulfr was finally close enough to leap on Rythen, he stopped; dead in his tracks. Hmm... this is Rythen's hunt, whether it be for revenge or whatever else. I'll let him deal with the halfling. I'm going to eat, find a place to sleep, and get some shut-eye." Ulfr thought, and with that, ran off in the opposite direction of the two.

--------some time later-----------

Ulfr stopped running and observed his new surroundings, making note of everything in the area. "Food can wait, I'm tired," and with that, he jumped in a tree, reverted to his human form, and flew off to dream land.

Cyrus watched from his branch in confusion of the events that had just occured. The were bear had sprinted under him while the wolf took off in the other direction after a long and eerie howl. Cyrus did not know if anything was being planned, but he didnt plan on sticking around to find out. Cyrus turned and leaped from branch to branch as fast as he could in the opposite direction. He didnt know what had really happened just now, but he just hoped that their next encounter would be more civilized and less confusing

After some time Rythen stopped running. It was time to end this. The theif he was chasing was obviously not in this direction. And by Now he would have had time to get away. There was no point in going on in this meaningless search. Rythen was angry for no real reason anyway. He decided it was time to give up. He pushed this whole event from his mind and went back to his life.
