Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Chatbox Rules and Regulations

  1. Respect all applicable Imythess forum rules while using the chatbox. Any rule that applies on the main board applies here in the chatbox, too.

  2. Keep everything friendly and civil, flame wars are a one-way ticket to losing chatbox priviledges. We're here on Imythess to have fun, not yell at each other.

  3. The chatbox is a priviledge that we are happy to supply for the members, but we can and will remove the right to use it from members who prove that they cannot use it without abusing it.

  4. Respect Mods and Admins when we say things. What we say goes, and 'end of discussion' means 'end of discussion.'

  5. Watch your language in the chatbox. Imythess is rated PG-13, so language is sometimes tolerable. The ocassional damn can be acceptable, but don't overdo it with dropping them every sentence.

  6. There are to be no sexual references or innuendo in the chatbox. There are plenty of other places on the internet to make them, go find one. Making these references in the chatbox is grounds for a verbal warning or even a ban.

  7. We respect all beliefs and backgrounds, but religious or political debates/conversations should be kept out of the chatbox. They tend to start things that should otherwise be kept on MSN or a forum geared towards debate.

  8. Keep your personal issues out of the chatbox. If something is bothering you in real life, either talk to a member that you want to speak about it with privately or find somewhere private to talk about it. It ruins everyone's mood and is just a generally discourteous action.

  9. Even if a topic is not religiously, politically, or sexually inclined, if the topic is making someone visibly uncomfortable or they ask for a change of topic, please do them the courtesy of listening. Imythess is a place where everyone should feel comfortable being.

  10. Keep all site-related questions to the help forum. There is some lenience in this rule to members who are new to the site and need help finding their way around, but otherwise, questions should be confined to where they belong.

  11. If you don't like a change on Imythess, post in the Suggestions forum instead of just on the chatbox. It lasts longer and will attract more attention

  12. Do not spam links. The occasional link is fine, but we don't need one after another unless it is somehow relevant. Links that lead outside of Imythess are not allowed in the chatbox if they contain content that is not allowable by Imythess rules. You may link to places outside of the forum, just think before doing so.

  13. Do not post personal details in the chatbox like your email, address, or phone number. The PM system is a good way to give someone this information without it being available to anyone else. For emails and web messenger information, there are places in your profile that can be filled in at your discretion.

  14. If you see a member breaking rules or acting inappropriately in the chatbox, the best thing you can do is to report him or her to a mod. Do not back seat moderate, as it causes arguments- that is, leave the modding to the mods.

  15. Members are allowed one verbal warning in the chatbox per day before a suspension of 24 hours is given. After the first suspension, an offense will warrant a longer ban from the chatbox, or even removal of chatbox use indefinitely.
