Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Kaess stood in a grove of trees about a two hour walk from Memphian Falls. He had just set up camp and was waiting for Fara’re to arrive as he had called her to help him out. He had been on a treasure hunt near here some time ago. They had found the treasure, but do to an encounter with a demon who had proved to be a constant problem in his life he and the group he was with had not had the chance to recover the treasure. They had even lost a member of their group to the falls that day and Kaess had returned to find the treasure sealed up again by magic. This didn’t bother him at the time since he had little need for the money, but now he did. He had charged with training people in the art of The Burning Fist and they needed a place to train. To build that place he needed money. So he had returned and found that he could not open the entrance no matter how hard he tried. However he did find a hole that showed the scroll that had been the key to opening it the first time was still there and there were shadows in their. So he had sent a messenger from a near by village to ask Fara’re’s help in retrieving the chest. He was sure she would receive the message and was now waiting for her to arrive.

However, things were not going as well as he hopped demon hounds had started appearing around the rock and seemed to be guarding it for unknown reasons. All he knew was his instincts said this was a bad turn of events. He watched the fire burn slowly as he waited in silence.

__________________________________________________________________

In the opposite the direction four hours away a man stood at a full six foot three with a massive sword on his back that seemed to have evil cleaning to it. There was also the strong scent of blood surrounding the large blade. The sword seemed like it should be unwieldy even for the strong man, but he seemed to fit the man more than any other blade would. There was something clearly off about this man as if he wasn’t what he seemed and something far worse than the imposing figure of this man. There was a fire in the center of the camp he had made. Looking down you could see the man’s shadow didn’t match the body of the man. It seemed to have a demonic shape to it that was unclear, but produced an aura and occasionally it looked like there were red eyes peering out from it. He moved forward a bit as he saw a couple of figures approach. He was expecting them, the way his body moved also seemed to show he wasn’t human, as no human could move quite like that.

The demon, Zelothtith, waited in his cramped prison of a human body as the two who would aid his escape came with in sight. He had sent a letter to both asking them to meet him here, giving them both just the right amount of incentives to respond to his request. He had plans one of which involved killing a certain half-dragon he was certain would show up, but this time he would have more than minions with him he would have powerful allies and would use every last connection he had. Thinking, ‘I will have my power back too.’ as he greeted his guests “Welcome gentlemen do join me it is a short time to morning and we have much to discus I am sure you have many questions of me so please sit if you wish and we shall talk about it all.” He gestured with a simple movement that showed the bit of respect these talented individuals who were joining him. One was indispensable to his plan and the other was useful. He waited patiently in the flickering light.

OOC: both parts of this post can proceed separately for now, but they will join up in the future.

"Chill, we have plenty of time." Doguso took his place beside the warm, inviting fire, the wooden log not as inviting to sit on. He swore, as soon as he sat down, a termite crawled over his leg and back into the log. Disgusting maggot, who's bright idea was it to camp out like this? Times have changed and there had to be better conditions. This man better have something delicious and fun.

Looking up at the man, he took note of the odd feeling emanating from his presence. He held some kind of power, wether it be unholy or not, it was powerful. The sword on his back, too, was odd. No regular man could carry a sword like that, so if he can use it more then just like a bat, like Doguso figured this man could, then he definately isn't human. Swords of that size and weight can't be swung more then 4 directions, 5 if you're pedantic, just because of the sheer weight compared to regular human bodies.

Doguso spotted something red glaring up out of the man's shadow, sending shivers down his spine. Yep, nothing normal here. This is perfect then! Perhaps things will take a turn for the better, more fun. If he's lucky, he'll get to kill some great guy, a hero maybe! Killing is fun, especially certain people! He couldn't wait any longer. "So, what's your so called 'Great Master Plan of the Millennium?' Or are we just sipping tea and getting to know one another?"

Zelothtith smiled at his first guest. "Strait to the point are we, I like that. No I don't think we need to spend too much time discussing things about ourselves. The grand master plan as you called it is fairly simple and has two goals. The first is to retrieve an item that is near by in a chest and open another chest with that item. The second chest contains something of value to me. The other is to destroy a particularly annoying pest who has been interfering all too frequently of late.

Now on to the details. The location for the item I seek is about four hours away and currently being guarded by some faithful hounds I know. However, my informants tell me that that interfering half-dragon is here too and he is bring another."
He waved his hand forming a hazy picture of Kaess and Fara're from the shoulders up. "These are the two who will be interfering. We will need to defeat them or beat them to the item, but they are quite powerful and together will prove difficult to deal with.

However, there is one more problem. A powerful seal is stopping me from reaching the chest with the item. So I am hopping your skills prove to be up to these tasks of helping me break the barrier. I also can not touch the cursed item myself so I will need you to carry it with you to our next destination after we are done here. Any other questions?"
His eyes glittered in anticipation as he couldn't wait to get started at this. Killing was the best thing for him and he would especially enjoy the day he killed the rotten half-dragon.

“Hmm…” Lou mused to himself from his position near the fire. He had been remaining quiet while this demon spoke, spoke of his flaws and what they would need to deal with. “So, you admit to either slothfulness or to your own weakness?” The demon chuckled to himself with a small grin on his face, his third eye was the only one open as he looked at the demon who had essentially told the plan. Why would a demon need such help for such a menial task when he could simply manipulate weaker beings to do his bidding? Something was odd here, and Lucifer was concentrating on it as he closed his third eye. To think.

He leaned forward, all of his eyes opening as he stared at the flickering light of the fire, a nostalgic feeling washing over him. His hand hovered over it before h pulled it back. “This should prove to be an entertaining journey. I suppose we are going to start this errand at sunrise, considering your earlier rush for getting this part of it over with before the sun greets the edge of the horizon, or do you turn into a pesky fly when hit by the sun’s rays?” Again the demon smiled that eerie smile that seemed like it was hiding something. It was, but he would not let the others know what he was hiding, at least not yet, for now he would just leave the smile there to taunt their interest, if they had any.

He stood straight, his arms popping as he stretched and looked at the two others that were gathered around the flame, two eyes to the other demon, and only one to the man who seemed rather uncaring about the situation. This would turn into more than some simple errand, because nothing was simple when it involved evil beings of this certain caliber.

“So, you admit to either slothfulness or to your own weakness?”

His eyes glowed at these words as his demonic energies escaped a bit. 'They will not underestimate me.' "I admit to neither. I am trapped in a human body by a curse of some power, but despite this I have reclaimed over half of my old self, by many means even with the half-dragon's interference. Though as I said before the two I showed you are far more powerful than any normal creature. In addition that half-dragon has many powerful friends and a few who are just my enemies of old. All of whom aided him. I have humored him in the past, but now I have simply grown tired of his interference." He controlled his power and his eyes stopped to glowing. He would also not mention his one failure when he had first met that thrice cursed half-dragon.

"I am glad you are pleased and we start as soon as we finish talking. And no I am unaffected by the sun though I do prefer the darkness. Now if you have no more questions lets go." He could sense that he had been right to call these two. They were strong and willful and would prove the most useful in these tasks ahead. He waited with his arms at his side ready to move out if there were no more questions.

If there are no more questions he will start leading them off towards the top of the falls where the item he seeks lays. Many lesser and maybe a few medium demons may be seen following them. He was unconcerned with them himself.

OOC: I forgot, but his name was in the letter so you know it at the least. Also have a bit of a headache so please forgive any errors.

Fara're was curious as to why Kaess had requested her aid. But she was not about to say no. Not only was he a member of her guild, he was a dear friend. And she was not going to let him do something dangerous and foolish on his own.

She saw the light of the camp fire and knew she was close to the meeting spot. The half-dragon sat there in front of the flames. She had always been fascinated with the way light played off his golden scales, especially fire light. When he remained still it was almost as if he were made out of the purest gold.

With a bright smile she walked into the clearing. "Evening Kaess," she said. "I hope I did not make you wait too long."

She sat down across from him, letting the flickering light of the fire warm her. As calm and relaxed as she looked, her ears were moving. Flicking back and forth. Ever listening for a danger that might be approaching.

"So care to explain a bit more what it is you want my help with?" she asked. "And also why did you not also ask Slade to come with? I thought about bring him along...but did not want to do so in case you had a reason for wanting my help alone."

Slade had not been thrilled when she told him she was doing this. He of course wanted to come along. To protect her, always trying to protect her. It had taken some time but she had convince him to let her go alone. But only if she promised to call up him should she have the need for him. And with the connect they now shared...calling him took a mere thought.

Her golden eyes watched the half-dragon as she waited for his reply. Whatever it was, she knew this was very important to him.

Kaess was glad when she arrived. Fara're was a trust worthy ally and he knew of none better to have at your back in the fight. He didn't even try to remember her name this time it was hopeless for him most of the time. He sighed a bit at her comments. 'I should have invited him.' "Ah welcome and well sorry I didn't invite Slade, I guess I just forgot, I may have wanted to in hindsight. Though this wasn't much of a task when I sent for you things have changed a bit let me explain. You see I recently inherited the mastery of a certain fighting style and well it has been left to me to see it taught to others. Here let me give minor demonstration." His arm burst into flame from casual movements the eye couldn't see. He watched the flames light around his arm and then put it out.

"As you see it is a unique art that I wish to create a place to teach it in. I feel it is a thing that needs a home if you understand me. So I thought of a solution. You remember that treasure hunt I went on a long time ago, you were a member of that group for a short time. " He took a slow breath, giving her a few moments to remember.

"Well the treasure was found, but it was never fully looted and it should contain enough start a the sort of place I wish to build. However, the entrance is sealed and can't be broken by physical power. I spent some time studying the entrance and I noticed there is a possible way in. There is a crack that a person can see inside by and it casts a shadow. It is by the entrance and the scroll which opens the door is right there on the floor. I couldn't reach it and was hopping you could with your power. At least that was my original hope." He took another breath this was the hard part as things had gotten more difficult.

"However, there are now demon hounds guarding the place and I don't know why. They don't seem to be their by accident either. I hope it is just me, but my instincts have been telling me something bad is coming since that moment. Well I guess that is the entirety of it. Hope I didn't ramble too long this time."
