Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Weapons Master

The title “Weapons Master” is reserved for those few individuals who have managed to perfect their technique with several major classes of weaponry and have shown unwavering dedication to the passing of this knowledge to the novice combatants of Imythess. They are most often found at the Academy of Arms after the fall of Taras, one of the few remaining facilities capable of housing and outfitting large numbers of new fighters. Every Weapons Master can demonstrate knowledge of the sword and spear as a fundamental prerequisite, but from there the talents may vary. It is not uncommon for Weapons Masters to reserve their own weapon rack at the Academy of Arms to hold the collection of weapons that they are proficient with.

A Weapons Master is not only tested on their physical capability to wield a series of weapons but also on the finer aspects of dueling strategy and large scale troop movements. They are constantly urged to improve their physical stamina and further hone and refine their skills when they are not working with students. The title of Weapons Master is likely to be stripped if one proves to be sluggish or sloppy in their technique. In times of war, Weapons Masters are bound by oath to respond to the requests of Imythess’ armies – whether that means remaining at the Academy to train waves of rookie soldiers or moving onto the front lines to command entire legions. The troops who follow them expect little less than miracles on the battlefield. That is the responsibility of the Weapons Master.

A typical day for a Weapons Master during the more peaceful years begins early – just before the rise of dawn. The years of training has programmed them to awake and eat a hearty breakfast before the sun has cleared the horizon. Once the sun has started its trek across the sky, the Weapons Master begins a long run if they have no students. This run continues until the Weapons Master becomes fatigued. Experienced Weapons Masters have been known to run until the sun reaches its peak in the sky. They typically try to hunt game during their run as a means of lessening the load on the Academy kitchen staff and to hone their speed and reflexes. Should the Weapons Master be responsible for students that day, he/she will usually run near to the Academy between sessions so that they may be available for questions on short notice.

Once their caught meal is cooked and eaten, the rest of the sunlight is spent honing one weapon. Each day, the weapon can change, but a Weapons Master typically does not change their weapon on the same day unless they are demonstrating it for students in an evening session. Weapons Masters prefer to spar with other Weapons Masters because they understand the urge to train properly. When the evening overtakes the day, Weapons Masters typically move indoors and find a warm fire to relax their bodies. After such long days, sleep often overcomes them before they move to their rooms. Servants have been tasked with waking the Weapons Master and escorting them to their room in such a case; no student is permitted to awake a Weapons Master during their slumber.
