Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Days have passed since Ana left Kellen to head deep into the mountains, to find the cities where the dwarves live. She had been needing a change of scenery, getting bored of Kellen, even if she still loved that place, but something started to draw her towards the mountains, something about them made her feel at home, like she had lived there before long ago, but she knew she has never been there before, at least she didn't believe she has been.

She walked barefoot down the roads in the mountains city, passing dwarves, and an occasional human or half-elf. There weren't many other races here, as most preferred to live out in the other towns and cities in the fresh air, instead of the thick air that hung here, the smell and heat the came from the blacksmiths of the city.

She walked towards a tavern, though, she never drank much alcohol, not liking the taste of it, but she wanted to go there, the homey feel of taverns always made her feel at ease, even if one time she went to a tavern a lot of people were poisoned, but that had just excited her.

Ana ran her fingers down her black laced dress that fell to her knees. Her long black hair loose and falling over her shoulders. Black eyes danced. Her pet snake wrapped tightly around her wrist like a bracelet.

She found a tavern quickly and pushed the doors open and skipped inside. Lots of faces turned to look at the newcomer, some surprised to see a human girl no more then sixteen walk in. Not many young people came here. She weaved her way to a empty table, and slipped into the seat, humming.

Nocturne let the last note of her song linger on her lips slowly dying away as the patrons hung on her last vestige of sound. She could feel the vibration hum in her ears as she and the violin’s harmonics died away. The crowd was silent for a moment before they cheered for her and begged for one more song. Nocturne laughed and waved them away.

She stepped down from the stage and moved over to the bar. Nocturne leaned her elbows on the wooden table and ordered up a pint. While she waited for the barkeep to bring back her order Nocturne turned and surveyed the tables for a likely candidate for her next boredom-relief program. Her golden eyes moved from table to table until she saw a woman sitting alone.

She heard the pint being placed behind her and she grabbed it with one hand before her glided over to the woman’s table. “Mind if I sit?” Without waiting for an answer she slid into the chair across from the woman and smiled at her.

“Nice night.”

Ana stopped humming when a older woman walked towards her, the girl just watched her nervously. She didn't like this woman for some reason. She felt dark, like a dark aura was around her, and something just told her that she shouldn't mess with this woman, or talk to her, nothing, just turn away, leave the tavern, but Ana didn't move a bit, not even if her own power told her she should leave.Even if this woman had a dark aura, it felt comforting that same familiar feeling she has been feeling a lot lately.

Ana just nodded when the woman had asked to sit down, but the woman hadn't even waited for an answer which made the girl frown.

“Nice night.”

"Is it night? I don't know anymore since being here. Can't see the sky or stars here, hidden in the ground." Ana hummed, smiling wide. She looked at the woman's drink and tilted her head to the side. "What type of drink is that? I'm not sure what to get." She said softly.

She then realized she hadn't asked what the womans name was yet, and looked at her with her wide black eyes.

"Who are you?" Ana asked.

Nocturne raised an eyebrow at the odd teenager. Maybe Nocturne had been doing this little program too long. She had learned to tell night by the cooling of the air and the way the taverns filled up. She smiled to herself, well if the girl hadn’t been here long at least no one would miss her while she was gone.

“I guess I’ve just gotten used to it.” Nocturne glanced over at her drink and pushed it across to the teen. The foam spilled slightly over the edge and slowly slid down the glass as it sat in front of the girl. “I get them for free so take that one.” Nocturne ordered another from a passing barmaid only she made it a raspberry cordial instead.

"Who are you?"

Nocturne laughed at the girl. “I guess that’s a new way to ask what my name is hmm?” Nocturne put on hand over her heart. “I’m Nocturne. Singer, lover, explorer, and guide.” Nocturne lowered her hand and smiled darkly at the girl. “I specifically take people up to see the volcano, but none of that matters.” Nocturne waved it off like it was no big deal. She placed her elbows on the table and linked her fingers.

“And who might you be?”

Ana looked at the drink when it was pushed over towards her, and she leaned over it, brows raising slightly before she picked the drink up in two hands and lifted it up, and took a small sip of it, her nose wrinkling at the taste and she quickly set it down. She lifted her hand up and wiped her mouth on the back of her hand, and stuck her tongue out slightly.

"Doesn't taste that good." She mumbled softly. She wasn't that surprised when the woman said she got them for free. Ana had heard the woman singing earlier, but hadn't paid much attention to it, but it had sounded beautiful.

“I’m Nocturne. Singer, lover, explorer, and guide.”

"And evil. Can't forget that, Nocturne." Ana smiled at the dark woman. But the part about the volcano interested the girl. She couldn't remember the last time seeing one, if she has, she didn't remember. She mulled over that a moment, maybe thinking to bring it up in a moment, but looked at the woman again when she spoke, as Ana took another sip of the drink, even if it didn't taste very good.

“And who might you be?”

"I'm Ana." She giggled, rocking back in her seat.

Nocturne laughed, rich and full. “And evil.” She decided liked the teenager but her skin was itching and she needed her fix of screams. Maybe it had all been because of that horrid man. She had been so completely helpless that it still haunted her dreams sometimes at night. Just thinking about it made Nocturne’s fingers twitch. Nocturne breathed in deeply and calmed herself.

Nocturne watched the teen’s face as she took a sip of the ale and tried not to smirk. The barmaid placed the raspberry cordial in front of her. Nocturne picked it up with both hands and took a sip before placing it back on the table. One of her index fingers ran along the glass, leaving trails in the condensation.

“Nice to meet you Ana.” Nocturne tilted her head again and as she did her golden eyes caught sight of something rather odd. Nocturne slowed coming back up from the tilt and acted as though she had seen nothing at all. She took another long drink of her cordial and stared at Ana with her gold eyes. Nocturne ran her fingers through her long black hair before she leaned forward towards Ana, and looking from left to right as though she were about to depart a great secret.

“Why do you have manacles on Ana? A little evil yourself?”

So the woman wouldn't deny it. Well, not many did when Ana was straight forward when it came to that. Normal people probably wouldn't say that to a evil person, they would probably try to get away, but Ana, she loved evil, but also feared it greatly. Ana didn't even say anything when Nocturne said nice to meet her. Was it nice? Why would it be? What is so nice about meeting other people, especially meeting a normal teen? Ana just shrugged.

When Nocturne leaned forward, Ana also leaned forward, interested in what the woman was going to say, but when she heard the words come from the evil woman, she just stared at the woman with a blank look, that slowly eased into confusion. Then she finally looked down at her wrists where the iron bands were, tightly pressed to her skin.

"I've always had these on. I'm not as evil as you I bet though." Ana said, her finger running along the cool iron.
