| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Western Dragons Physical Description Western dragons typically have large central bodies with four legs, each ending in strong powerful claws that are also delicate enough to handle tools. They have long flexible necks and are covered in tough scales. They have sharp teeth and are primarily carnivores. Their large wings are similar to those of a bat and they have long thick tails. Their scales can come in a variety of colors including shades of green, black, blue, red, brown, bronze, gray, and gold. There can also be mixes of these colors. Gold is by far the rarest seen and golden dragons are usually larger than others of their kind. Red and Black dragons are also unusually powerful types of western dragons. Most western dragons start off about the twice the size of the average human grow larger the older they get. These dragons usually have jutting scales that create an intense look. The exact natural life span is unknown, but is around two or three thousand years. Description All western dragons have some innate magical abilities. Some can turn into a human or other such forms while others have natural scrying abilities. Many other abilities can show up as well. These abilities may not be known or controllable to the dragon until later in its life. All western dragons possess the ability to breathe flame, electricity, or poisonous gasses to attack their foes. (Note to Player’s Playing a Western Dragon – You do not get these abilities for free. You must purchase these powers through the store by buying the spells or skills that fit the power the best. However, you may play these as racial abilities. ) Personality Western dragons largely prefer to make lairs or homes in mountains, ruins or old isolated areas of forests. Dragons love gold, jewels and practically anything of monetary worth or power, and thus the Western dragons are famous for keeping massive mounds of such objects in their secret lairs. While not every Western Dragon will be seen guarding their treasures, practically everyone one of them will have a lair. If a Western Dragon is not literally guarding their horde, they will usually use cunning traps and other tactics to make sure that no one can get at their riches. Due to this nature of gold hoarding, Western Dragons are certainly not the most social of the dragons and usually tend to befriend other Western Dragons. Northern Dragons Physical Description Northern dragons have a similar body to Western dragons with a few key differences. They are usually a little thicker skinned and their scales are made to retain heat and keep snow and water out. Their scales are usually the whites, grays, silvers, and blues found in snowy areas or cold areas. These colors give them some natural camouflage that they will use to their advantage as much as possible. Northern dragons live to be about two to three thousand years old. Description Northern dragons also have some innate magical abilities. However, the abilities are usually focused on concealment or the creation of some minor weather effects such as a concealing mist. The more powerful dragons have even been known to cause blizzards. Northern dragons also can produce a breath weapon of cold or ice to use against their foes. (Note to Player’s Playing a Northern Dragon – You do not get these abilities for free. You must purchase these powers through the store by buying the spells or skills that fit the power the best. However, you may play these as racial abilities. ) Personality Northern dragons prefer to live in cold climates that allow them to take advantage of their natural camouflage. They also create and sleep on hoards set up in their lairs. They are more solitary than western or southern dragons and feel a kinship with hunters and stalkers. Many also find entertainment in playing tricks in heavy weather and many races believe it is just their own senses playing tricks on them, little suspecting that a dragon is the cause of their confusion. Southern Dragons Physical Description Southern dragons have slim sleek bodies with four limbs ending in very dexterous claws. They have long tails and delicate cape like wings. Their scales are not as tough as other dragons, but they look far more radiant than other scales. They can often have multi-colored scales as well. They have eyes that sparkle like gems in the right light and are considered the most elegant looking variety of dragon. Southern dragons also grow to have brighter scales as they grow older unlike other dragons whose scales will dull with long years. The southern dragons typically possess life spans of one to two thousand years. Description Southern dragons have less physical strength than the other dragons in most cases. To make up for this they possess a stronger magical affinity and many study magic, learning many secrets in their long lives. They like to live in old ruins or places with connections to magic. They depend on illusions and clever tricks or traps to protect their home and hoard of treasure. However, they practice all forms of magic and are often experts in more than one form of magic. When flying they tend to glide more once in the air and are quicker than Northern or Western dragons and more graceful than all other dragons. (Note to Player’s Playing a Southern Dragon – You do not get these abilities for free. You must purchase these powers through the store by buying the spells or skills that fit the power the best. However, you may play these as racial abilities. ) Personality Southern dragons are often more adventurous and willing to experiment then other dragons. They love illusions and showing a new illusion to a southern dragon is considered a great gift. Most look down upon people and creatures that don’t possess the ability to control or cast magic and consider such non-magical creatures to be inferior. Status among southern dragons is determined by their looks and their magical ability. They will often add ornaments or paints to themselves for what is considered fashion by the southern dragons. They also enjoy showing off what they own to their close friends. Some consider them vain or frivolous, but his couldn’t be farther from the truth. They are considered to be very crafty, logical and have strong intuitive capabilities. Eastern Dragons Physical Description Eastern Dragons have long snake like bodies with one to many pairs of legs or arms. Each leg or arm is some what short compared to the actual size of the creature, but are very powerful ending in strong and dexterous claws. They have strong scales covering their bodies. Some have long drooping whiskers that get longer as they age. Most of their lives they stay the same width, about fifteen or twenty feet, but their length increase with age instead. They live the longest of all dragons, up to ages of five thousand in some rare cases, but many can make it up to about three and a half to four thousand years old. Description Eastern Dragons usually practice in the magical area of which they are associated with. Fire Dragons will usually practice at learning various fire spells, Earth Dragons will learn how to control the earth and so on and so forth. The Metal Dragons are the only ones who do not fit into this as they usually practice various melee styles and utilize weapons rather than magic. On top of this, both the Air Dragons and the Fire Dragons can fly magically while water dragons can swim underwater. (Note to Player’s Playing an Eastern Dragon – You do not get these abilities for free. You must purchase these powers through the store by buying the spells or skills that fit the power the best. However, you may play these as racial abilities. ) Personality The general consensus is that eastern dragons are considered less aggressive than most other types of dragons. Most are highly impartial and some even prefer to live like hermits ignoring the world completely. However, the impartial nature of these dragons means that they can also do just about anything on a whim at times, as long as it makes logical sense to the dragon. They usually live in place associated with their element. The rest of their personality traits are determined by their history. |
