| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Doguso stumbled along the desert sands. The scorching hot sun was slowly going down, but the heat still beat every last ounce of water out of Doguso as the day still held strong onto the last few strands of hours. Collapsing, Doguso smiled as he turned himself to face the sky, his face off the magma sand. "Ke, and here, so close, I lie to die when my dark powers are almost at the climax to ultimate undeath. Ah, but death shall release me..." Doguso heard an odd sound, something he hasn't heard for awhile. It sounded like water being blown by the mild desert winds. Pushing himself up with his last ounces of strength, Doguso saw straight ahead the most delicious sight ever, water! Scrambling along the sands, his feet wrestling against the sand falling backwards into the ground, pulling him in, Doguso pushed his way after the water. Splashing among the water, Doguso started drinking, throwing water on his forehead and his hot, almost purple chest. Sighing, Doguso never felt close to life before, though he told himself death and life are just two sides of a coin so it didn't matter he clinged to it so much. Especially as close as he was now. Laying in a corner of the oasis, Doguso looked out relaxing, taking a break until the sun went down fully and the cool, night desert air arrived. As Doguso's eyes started falling asleep, he thought he could see a figure, humanoid, in the distance. He thought it was just a mirage so he shrugged, resting back into the water. |

Elerra looked up at the glaring sun. Beads of sweat ran down her face. This cursed surface realm was bad enough with its roofless endless skys. But this neverending pit of sand and that blazing ball of fire above just made this land a living hell. She cursed her luck. First for being exiled to the surface. Second for being shunned by these spineless surfacers. Third for ending up in this barren land. Why did people live in a place like this in the first place? She used her hand to shade her eyes as she peered ahead. She could swear she saw water ahead. But could not be sure. The priestess became moving in that direction. There was no place better to go. At least head towards what seemed to be an oasis. As she grew closer she could see that her eyes were not fooling her. A cool pool of water was within sight. She spied the man there. A drow man. How odd.... But she too little heed of him as she head to the water. She knelt down at the pools end and plashed some water onto her face. She let out a sigh of contentment as it cooled her buring body. She black hands dipped into the water and cupped it. After drinking her fill she finally turned her gaze to the man. "Rare enough to see anyone in these parts. Even rarer for it to be a drow," she said. |

Doguso opened one eye lazily, watching another drow splash her face with the water. He shook his head in sympathy, understanding the painful strains of the desert heat. After she took a drink of water, Doguso took a deep breath before pushing himself out of the water to say something, but the drow beat him to it. "I could say the same thing, especially for a girl, who have it all good down in that wretched cave. Whom might you be, little lady." Doguso said, in a more commanding then rather questioning voice. "It's certainly odd to find a drow in this kind of heat and light, so I'm curious as to why you come, or is it cause you heard I was here." Doguso was mockingly flirting for fun, the heat was getting to him and the daziness was making him act a bit stranger then usual, but that's probably normal under so much heat especially after living in the underground for so long. Doguso dived into the water one last time, taking his time in the cool water and feeling it brush against his body, refreshing his hot body. Coming out of the water, Doguso swam next to the priestress, one arm on the sand bank, smiling warmly at her. "You might as well come on in anyway, it's nice in here compared to out there." |

Elerra gave him a sharp glare. Who was he to call her 'girl.' His comment seemed to make it sound like a woman was not cut out for this sort of thing. "It seems you have forgotten how one is to treat a female," she growled. "Show the proper respect you male scum. I am no 'little lady.' I am a sorceress whom you should not be fool enough to anger." She got up and walked over to a shaded area before taking a seat. She did not take her eyes off of him. She scoffed at his invite into the water. "I don't think I will enter it while it is dirtied with your presence," she said. |

"Oh, and I'm to show respect to you but you can call me skum? Why'd you think I left that broken, pathetic world we use to call home. You girls think you are everything compared to us. Even so, without us, nothing would be possible down there. Give a little credit and kindness and maybe I'll repay you. And don't threaten me, girl, I'm a powerful mage of the dead, or as they many call them, necromancers. I could wilt your skin into an old hag." Doguso swam back to where he was previously, laughing at the drow. "Ah, and here I was trying to be polite and let you in my water. But you still retained that uptight female superiority that I left behind. Just so you know, there are no cave ceilings above us, there are no drow around every corner, this isn't home. Or rather, this world is home to us now. You're not the superior being here anymore. Oh, and I think I'll keep this water extra murky too, so perhaps you don't want to drink from it either, anymore." Doguso grinned, waiting for her response. He knew she wouldn't take it well, but he didn't care too much, he was in the cool water while she was in the hot air and sand. |

Her eyes narrows as she glared at him. "I do not demand respect from you merely because I am a female, but because I am more powerful than you. Do you know what happens to someone in water...when it is struck by lightening?' To emphasize her point she held up a hand. Lightning started to dance along her slender fingers. It was obvious that it would take no more than a few arcane words to send out a bolt of lightning. She did not need to hit Doguso for the spell to kill him, merely striking the water would be enough. "Do not threaten me lightly," she warned. She watched him as he spoke again. "And what makes you think I need to share that water with you...when I can just make my own." She waved one of her hands and spoke a few aracne words. Moments later clouds gathered and a light rain began to fall. She used her control of the spell to have the rain fall only on herself. The light rain quickly cooled her body and made her quite comfortable. Much nicer than swimming around in some pond in the middle of the desert. |

"Electrocution. What a lame way to die. Really." Doguso got out of the water, he was no fool and staying in there would be suicide. Standing on the hot rocks, water poured off his body, evaporating as soon as it hit the steaming rock. Trying to wipe the fine water off his arms, to no avail, Doguso turned back around. He could feel the hot sun beating along his back and face. The water on his body soon disappeared into the sky above, and Doguso grinned. "So why did you come to this oasis if you could make your water, oh mighty sorcerer. Why not drink from the sky?" "Sides, I'm not one to triffle with either. Like you have power over elements, I have power over the dead. I can curse your pretty little face to be torn away by my dark energy. You wouldn't have the ability to cross this desert in time before the vultures pick the skin off your bones. That'd be a delightful sight wouldn't it? A drow in a pool of water, electrocuted and one in the desert, torn away by vultures and dark energy. Although you'd get lucky and come back as an undead, if you'd enjoy that." Doguso smiled as he stepped halfway around the pond towards the girl, but stopped. "My name's Doguso by the way." |

She smirked as he got out of the water. So it seemed he was not foolish enough to remain in a dangerous place. But she had a few other spells to cast that would not make him have a pleasent day. "I cast only when I feel the need or the desire to cast," she said simply. "Were I to create rain every time I got hot or a little thirst, I would only show I was a weakling and a fool. For only weaklings and fools would waste their magic for a such a trivial reason while traveling as I would have needed to cast the spell every mile I walked." A sly grin crossed her face as he strutted his feathers once more, so to speak. She did not really fear him. She was an adept spellcaster and knew how to handle a battle. "And what makes you think you can get a spell of before I fire one of my own?" she asked. She then flashed a charming smile. "But come...there is no need for us to be at each other's throats. There are few enough of our kind on the surface, and we have plenty of enemies as it is. No need for us to kill each other, when there are plenty of others who want the same thing." "Doguso you say? I am Elerra, a former high priestess and a high ranking sorceress," she replied. |

"I see you're intelligent, to not waste your energy then." Doguso sat down near Elerra but still kept his distance just in case. "But if you were to create rain when you were dieing of thrist, that'd be a different altogether wouldn't it? Keke, sides I'm no novice in a fight, I know how to handle myself and my magic. When I should use it and how to use it in a fight, two things I would know, being a drow at the very least." Doguso smiled. "Definately something these, uplanders don't quite understand. Yet we're forced to accept and live with them, how sad we who are exiled, have become." Curious, Elerra was a high priestress and exiled. "So you're a high priestress? Why were you exiled from our old home?" |

She shot him a sharp look when he asked about her exile. "My sisters were a bit too jelouse of my powers," she said. "So they thought up a lie to put me out of favor with the matrons. I killed the traitrous wenches before leaving. But they had already damage my reputation enough that I could not remain. I assume with all ranking females of my house gone now, it has been destroyed. So there was not reason for my to even try to regain my honor there." That was half true, half false. She he reputation had been sullied by her sisters, because they had found out about her relationship with Dalhar. They used that knowledge against her to try and remove her from power. But she was not going to share that un-drow like piece of her past with this stranger. But it was completely true that she had killed all seven of her sisters. Including her identical twin. "And what about yourself? If you are as powerful as you say, you could have the highest rank of any male in the city. A matron might even want you as her patron. A position any male would envy and desire. Even females would be forced to respect you," she said. |

"Keke, betrayal from power. Classic story, never gets old. I congrats you on taking revenge, although at a loss of a house you no longer would be apart of anyway. Honor keigh, sometimes it's not worth it." Doguso fell backwards laughing. The rock under him started to burn his back so he sat back up, now in a bit of dismay and unease. "Me? I'm not one for those weaklings. See, I'm not that powerful, yet, but my ambitions are, arguably, not normal. I have a fascination with death, and in my younger, naive years, killed many in the street just to taste sweet death. Then I took to library's for books on necromancy. Yet I wasn't satisfied with what they had, I despised the way things were done, so naturally I left, self-exiled. Though, none of them wanted me there, especially when they learned of how many I killed." Doguso licked his fingers as if he could still taste their blood. Doguso was really close to uncovering his liche powers however, but he wasn't going to share how close to supreme power he was, in his view at least. |

She merely shrugged at his words. It did not really matter to her. "Do you really think the matrons cared how many you killed?" she asked. "They don't care who you kill, so long as you don't kill someone they don't want you to kill. Or that your killings cause them trouble. Which may have been the case with you." "Ambition is a double sided sword," she said. "It can give you great drive and great powers. But should it can also be what brings you to an early grave. Best be warry that the latter does not occure with you. For this surface realm offers ones like us no haven and no allies." The rain she had summoned now ended. The water on her body and clothing was now beginning to evaporate, but a little slower than it had on Doguso since she was at least in the shade. Though the relief had been short, it had been very refeshing. Perhaps she would go in the water soon. But not yet. |

Doguso laughed, "Believe me, it was more that my mind was 'unstable' to them then that I killed so many. More to that I seemed dangerous to themselves and other important drow." Doguso hackled at this thought, killing all the matrons. "Keke, perhaps death is the side I want though? I am obsessed with it, and death is liberating if you pull it off right and become undead. Immortal and powerful!" Doguso grinned. "Like how you like to use elemental powers." Doguso stood up and stretched his arms before sitting down again. "But, we still have each other, don't we, ally?" |

She scoffed when he spoke of death. "I think I can see why the matron did not want you," she said. "Seeking death is foolishness. You don't know if you can truely attain that power you seek. Immortality through death seems a like it would be granting you the exact opposite. Best you proceed with extreem caution, your will end with merely death, and no immortality." She rose to her feet and glanced at him as he called ally. "You have barely met me and yet you call me an ally?" she questioned. "How do you know I don't plan on stabbing you in the back as soon as I get the chance. Be careful who you call your ally. Trust is for the weak, and the dead." Without another word she walked toward the water. She felt grimmy from the heat and her own sweat. A bath would be more than welcome right now. She slipped out of her garments and drapped them an a near by rock before entering the water. She seemed to pay little heed to Doguso as she bathed. She plunged her head under the water. When she surfaced again the water poured off of her white hair, giving it a shiny silvery sheen. It felt good to scrub off the grim of the road and to be clean once more. |

"Yet at the same time. One can not die if one is already dead. Perhaps if there was a way to walk between life and death, one could become immortal. That would be my ideal goals. However such power is something one has to find in both worlds, both life and death." Doguso smiled, "I'm sorry if I offended you however, by simply wishing for two exiled drows to be friends, or allies." "Sides, if you were to stab me in the back, I would only have to stab you back." Doguso said, revealing the dagger that was already lightly in his hand. "For I'm always prepared and trust no one, even my closest friend, a vampire lord. You see, no one can be trusted because if we trusted anyone, we would only trust them less, because of the amount of belief we put into them would make us worry more about betrayal or being wrong about that trust. So truly, trust is merely the act of trusting someone less." Doguso watched the drow remove her garments in front of him and head into the water. He made him oddly happy and interested. He saw the water fall off her snowy hair, seeing the beauty she held. Yet he only grinned and could only make one remark, "And now you entered the water that which my filth was in. I'm glad you took the time to enjoy the water as I have, it is refreshing." Doguso said, scooting up near the water, dipping his feet in. |
