Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Doguso stepped into the boundaries of the city, the outside world behind him far behind now. The tunnels were, of course as a dark elf, no problem to navigate. Sniffing the air, he shivered as he remembered why he left the dark elf world in the first place. Yes, he enjoyed the darker side of their culture, but something was missing. Especially from this city, so... inviting.

His hands clasped both ends of his tattered coat, pulling the back-end up to his neck. Letting the ends fall loosely onto his chest, he continued walking forward, looking about the city that, he considered, was forced to thrive in a horrible land, unlike the other elves. Although he didn't quite believe in his god, he would spit on her if he could, for giving them such hostile land while the other elves were blessed with forests.

Whatever. That's all he could say. Doguso took another turn and came upon a small building, nothing fancy. He entered the tavern and took a chair. He wasn't too hungry, nor thirsty, but sitting down felt good, and the place was moderately full. He looked around and saw only a few outlanders, most of the peeps were dark elves of course. Some of the outlanders seemed... like people he wouldn't like at all. Doguso ducked his head down a litlte as if it'd hide him from sight, but probably just make him suspicious looking. He didn't care really, though, he didn't want to deal with yuppies going on about gods, or life, or whatever.

Fara're was not one hundred percent sure why she had ventured into the Underdark. Curiosity got the cat once again. The tunnels held no light, but that proved little challenge for the weretiger anyways. She could see even in magical darkness.

She was a little surprised when she stumbled upon a city. A drow city. She was even more surprised when they seemed to welcome strangers, including surfacers. Still she felt a little unease as she walked through the streets. She stood out quite a bit. There were other surface elves that could be spotted everyone once in a while, but it seemed she was the only lycant.

She spotted the tavern and decided to go inside. It was smaller and quieter than most taverns she had been it. Not that she minded. It would likely cause less trouble then a busy one would. The weretiger went to an empty seat and sat down. Her golden eyes roamed around the room as she took in every detail.

Doguso spotted an odd looking elf. She really stood out from the rest of the place, and looked a bit unusual. Doguso kept an eye on her for awhile, but it was a bit obvious he was watching her. Doguso sat for somewhere between 5 to 10 minutes before sighing. This elf, a type he has never laid eyes on before, just didn't feel right. So he decided to get up and walk over to the elf.

Casually yet calmly, he approached her stopping five feet away, which should give enough warning of attack or something. Doguso was a bit skeptical but it has saved him plenty before. A small smile cracked his smooth, calm face, his eyes glistening in anticipation. "So, what is an odd elf, like you, doing in the undergrounds? I've never seen one like you before, so you have to realize the oddity you are and how it can, perk, my curiosity."

Doguso gave a slight chuckle, just audible between the two of them. Doguso brought his drink up to his lips and sipped some of it's bubbling alchohol down. He stepped forward closer to the table, cause by now, if she were to attack him, she would've done it by now most likely. He sat the mug down on the wooden table and kept his stare straight into her eyes.

Fara're looked up and twitched her feline ears forward as a drow walked up. She smirked at what he said. An odd looking elf huh? Well she was covered in black and orange fur, she guess that was rather odd looking.

"You can tell I am elf beneath all this fur? Quite impressive," she said through her grin. "Perhaps I should not look so 'odd' if I looked a bit more like this."

Her skin seemed to ripple as she morphed. Her fur subsided and then light tanned skin could be seen. Her hair became raven black and shown with a healthy luster. The feline golden eyes she looked at him with melded into a green elven ones. Within a matter of seconds a normal looking elf sat there looking at him.

"Do I look a bit more 'normal' now?" she asked. A grin played across her face. "No I am not a normal elf. I am a weretiger. I just happen to be an elven weretiger."

She gave him a wink. It had been a while since she had been in the form. Most often she preferred the more feline one. The strength and agility of her cat side was just so much more superior to her elven. But...she could easily shift back if she needed.

"It seems I am not the only 'curious cat' around," she said. "Do you often come up to strange women?"

Doguso saw the incredible transformation. He never seen someone transform close up like this, so things became more interesting then he thought. Then the transformation was complete. The girl that sat in front of him stunned him. She had a certain beauty and charm about her, that which only the undead usually made him feel.

Doguso smiled, a smile that most would take as a bit odd, perhaps by one not completely sane. "Well, honestly your ears gave you away. Most races I know don't have ears like ours. It was more a guess, but I guess I guessed right." Doguso chuckled, "and yes, you look incredibly normal now, for an elf."

"Mind if I take a seat?" However Doguso swung another chair nearby, sliding it across from the elf. "No, only ones that interest me, and I must say you interest me right now. Sides, how did you become a 'weretiger' in the first place?" Doguso smiled again, but this time it was a more charming smile then a sadistic one.

Fara're smiled at Duguso. He seemed friendly enough for a drow. But that smile of his seemed...odd. She made a mental note to keep a careful eye on him.

"Mmmm my ears gave me away?" she asked as she scratched on of her ears. "When I am in my tiger form most people think I have more feline ears. But I guess some of my elven traits can still be seen."

She shrugged as if it really did not matter. When he asked if he could have seat she merely nodded. It seemed like he was planning on keeping her company anyways. And she did not mind at all.

She cocked her head when he asked about weretigers. "Well...weretigers are lycants. Like any other type of were-creature. Well...there are two ways to be a lycanthrope. You are either born one by having one or both your parents being one. My mother was one, so I was a natural born lycant." She paused for a second and scratched the back of her head. "The second way to be bitten. But that does not always end well...most the time the transformation drives the victim insane. That is why I refuse to bite anyone."

She did not mind sharing these detail of lycanthopy. It was fairly common knowledge after all.

She leaned forward resting her and in her palm. Her bright emerald eyes studied the drow. She had met few drow before, but had heard plenty of the rumors surrounding them. She knew not all drow were evil, but she still understood that she had to proceed with some caution.

"But how rude of me. I have not given my name. I am Fara're," she said with a bright smile.

"So you were born into a weretiger, that's interesting to say the least. How odd and rare that must be." Doguso laughed as he took another sip. "Ah, so what's it like being part tiger? Best of both worlds, intellect and sophistication of elves yet power and speed of a tiger I'm sure."

Doguso looked around the tavern real quick, scanning everyone. "Y'know, for being drow, I don't like this place so much... want to take this outside?" Doguso got up and extended one hand, as if to welcome her, but didn't really extend it out to help her up.

"Hm, I'm Doguso." Doguso oddly didn't feel like talking about death for once and just enjoyed talking, something he hasn't done in awhile, although most people he talked to were like him, slightly or really insane and/or in love with death and undead, so that didn't help.

Fara're shrugged when he spoke about being a weretiger. She knew all to well the sort of power being part tiger gave her. But she also had to experience the down sides of it. Such as being shunned by most races. But she figured if he went to the surface he would receive similar treatment.

"There are good and bad sides about being a weretiger," she said. "But I guess that can go with being any race."

When he offered to go for a walk she bounce out of her chair. "Sounds fine to me," she said.

She walked along with him as they headed out. She could only guess the sort of odd sight they might be. A drow male and a surface elf female walking together having a friendly chat. Such a thing was not a common sight. Most often their kinds would be fighting. But this city was not like most in the underdark.

"True, but there are some races with greater problems then others, just depends how you look at it I guess." Doguso said, as he strolled out of the tavern with Fara're.

The first thing he asked as soon as they were out of the tavern was, "So, you want to head to the light or darkness of this abyss we call home?" Doguso gave a smirk to make it seem like he was joking about what he called his home, but truly he meant every word of it. He felt like his race was punished by being forced to live and adapt here, but there are some good things that came out of it.

Of course, many drow and outsiders were giving the two of them weird looks, but Doguso didn't care. He didn't have a true place here anymore, no more connection other then his heritage. "So, what are you doing down here? Usually don't see many down here, mostly do to the fact it's so damn dark and dangerous."

Fara're shrugged. "I don't really mind where we go. Even if I get hopelessly lost in these tunnels...I can always get out."

She smiled. It was true. She was a shadow dancer. All she needed was a few shadows and she could just use them to travel back home. And this was the Underdark, there were more than enough shadows for her to use.

When he asked what she was doing here she shrugged again. "I was curious," she said. "I guess it comes from my cat like nature. If I am curious about something I must go investigate! Thought it has gotten me into trouble a few times. Once I even wandering into a dragon's layer! It was just a good thing she was friendly one and did not want to eat me."

"But what can you tell me of the underdark. It is as bad as the rumor say? Danger around every corner. Beasts that will kill you before you even know you are there. Is it really more dangerous than some of the places on the surface?" she asked.

"Well, I came back for a reason, might as well head farther into the dragon's lair?" Coincidentally a dragon's lair came up soon after, how funny. "Hm, so your weretiger self has taken over more then your appearance and abilities but as well as your personality? Never knew were-people were affected so much. That is interesting to say the least."

Doguso walked farther into the dark tunnels, but he could see fine after his race has adapted to the darkness. "Yes, the underdarks are just that bad. Creatures are everywhere in these tunnels, except in our cities. However as fighters such as we our, we adapted and conquered. These tunnels pose not as much threat, similar to the world above, but still, one must wonder why we had to fight so hard just to have a life while the others simply built homes in forests that we have lost for this... dirt and darkness. I just think it wasn't quite fair, no amount of toughening of our race, and protection within the darkness and tunnels could amount to the suffering we had to endure. At least the creatures can pose a threat to outsiders if they're not careful, like yourself."

Doguso continued walking forward not looking at Fara're whatever she may be doing, cause if anything, he believed that to be the greatest truth of his race, that they were robbed of their life above.

Fara're looked around the cavern as he spoke. It was odd for her to look up and see no sky. She did prefer the forests of Norwood over this barren place. But there was an odd beauty to it.

"I actually think there is a certain kind of beauty here. A kind that can't be found under the open skies of the surface," she said cheerfully.

When he mentioned about it not being fair that they were cursed to live here she cocked her head. "I am not one for religion and history...but I have heard that your people were sent to live here a long time ago. Something about a war between your gods. And well I guess yours lost."

She shrugged. "But I don't really know the details. That happened a long time ago..."

She skipped in front on him and began to walk backwards while facing him. "But if you really don't like the Underdark...you could always head to the surface. Sure...life will be hard. Many people will hate you merely because you are drow. But I have seen more than one person like you find acceptance on the surface."

"Heh beauty? This dirt, this wall that could collapse?" Doguso hit the sides of the tunnels and some of the wall fell down onto the ground. "Ya, the grass is greener on the other side I suppose, but one has to be greener, and I'm guessing the one with the sun and rain would be greener."

"Sides, I think this punishment, whatever may have happened long ago, is more then necessary, let alone how long we lived here. But we call it home now, then again, so what can we do?" We can do many things truly, and I plan on vengeance, and bringing death, to the upper world.

Doguso only started cackling though, and he couldn't stop laughing. "Oh I do live on the surface now. I been there many times and rarely find myself here. I don't know why I came back, I guess the fact I lived here so long just got to me finally. Home, such a funny thing it is. Home above, it's harder for me to live because of my heritage, which in itself is a bit cruel, but for others, I found it better. Then again, you could say I see things differently still, but that's what separates us..." Doguso didn't know why he kept on talking and sharing his thoughts and feelings on this, but he just felt this uncontrollable need to tell Fara're this.

"Not the dirt no," she said. "But those." She pointed up the the stalactites. The long rock formations jutted out from the ceiling. There were many shades of greens, reds, and yellows through out the stone.

When he spoke about how hard it was to live on the surface she gave him a sad understanding smile. "Believe it or not...I too have a hard time living there. Sure I can hide my tiger half by staying in this form. I could live my whole life looking like a normal elf, and no would know the better. But I don't want to. I am a weretiger. And I want to be accepted for what I am and who I am. I have spent the past couple of years working on that, and it has payed off. I am now fully accepted in Norwood forest. The elves trust me, and trust whom I trust. I had become a nice haven for me."

She did not mind how he opened up to her. It made for easy conversation. He seemed like a good enough person for a drow. Almost like someone she would accept into her guild. But it was far too soon to bring him in like that. She had to get to know him better first. Make sure he really was someone who would fit into the guild. For all she knew he could be someone more well suited for Shadow Society, which she was very cautious of.

But what ever his intentions really were...she did not need to worry about that now. She was just enjoying a good time.

Doguso looked and saw the stalactites, he never noticed them before. They were a pretty display of color, but it wasn't his kind of pretty. Doguso laughed a little more as he turned his head towards Fara're. "Ya, I guess for some it could be then, but they're still just rocks, nothing special."

"Hahah, it shouldn't matter what we are, though, but who we are. Why do you want to be accepted for being a weretiger and not because you're a powerful being?" Doguso said, laughing a bit. It was a bit odd for some to want to be liked for what race they are and not their personality. However for him, he was like choice C, didn't matter if he was liked by most others, because most others would be dead eventually and his to command.
