Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

A moving that seemed to flow like a speedy fire. Not exactly walking, but gliding forward. Nothing was burned in her wake despite the flames that made up her body. Heat radiated at least, but still lacked a burning. Torcal moved into the ancients ruins with nothing to do. The last people that talked to her tried to splash her with water or something. She pouted, why were Humans so mean to her? She didn't do anything wrong. Oh well, might as well and try and make no friends.

Taking a seat on the leafy grass, she leaned back against a boulder that was there. Years and years of the plane of fire, a few thousand was it? Well, the month she spent here seemed to snap by but wasn't as fun. Not many people talked to her and if they did they were trying to get information out of her as to how the plane of fire worked and almost anything she knew.

Maybe if she was lucky she would meet someone more fun and maybe someone awesome like. Well, that was just being optimistic, it was quite encouraging.

Aiden ran forward, slashing hard at imaginary enemies as his sword became a flash of steel. Training here in this dead place was surprisingly calming for the elf. There was no one here to disturb him, no missions to assume, no responsibilities to anyone besides himself. His only mission--survive. My favorite, the elf thought with a smile.

With a vicious horizontal slash, Aiden stopped his training session. Sweat dripped from his brow as he lovingly wiped his blade down with an oiled cloth. "Well, I should be off," the elf muttered as he sheathed his sword. He stood quickly, gathering his cloak and putting it over his sweaty tunic. He planned on covering a few miles before settling down and resting for the night.

He whistled as he walked through the night air, enjoying the wonderful view of the stars in the sky. He walked along the broken stone streets, content with the days events, when he suddenly spotted something quite strange. His crept forward as slowly as possible. Within seconds, he found himself approaching an ancient courtyard that was now covered in grass. Before him sat what seemed to be a human shaped, fiery glow.

"What have we here?" Aiden muttered softly, continuing to creep forward. Finally, when he was within ten meters of the object, he called out, "Hello?"

"Ow."

Rising up from a bush full of thorns, even this was annoying for the fire weilding redhead. Hotaru stepped forward and took a seat on the ground. The pain rung through his body with a mix of physical emotions, of pain and enjoyment of the moment. He quickly went to pull every thorn out of his skin he could find. Blood quickly found it's way to the surface and followed the thorns out. It was only minor, these were stings upon the plight of true pain that could echo throughout someone's entire bodily system.

After he finished with that, he took a cloth from his bag and wipped the blood off where he could find it. The cloth appeared to have been blood stained many times before that, from what anyone could imagine the blood was from. He could easily tell people that most of it wasn't even close to his own. The wounds would be fine nonetheless. Minor cuts upon anything.

Looking up, he saw what was unmistakable from something he loved. Fire. It almost appeared to be in some kind of shape. His eyes were playing tricks on him, fire could do that from a distance or even up close sometimes. Unless it actually did take a shape. He was just curious as to the flames in general and went on forward to see more about it.

When he got close, someone else was already there and went to speak up to the flames. The man appeared to be an Elf, they didn't taste to good plus Hotaru wasn't hungry right now so he paid no mind to that. Looking better at the fire, it did have a Human like shape. He was tempted to make the fire grow, and from his distance he held his arms out as if he was ready to cast some spells. "It appears to be a living flame." He spoke nonchalantly in respond to the Elf that was questioning it's existance.

Aiden continued to watch the fiery figure before him as if transfixed in a trance. "How odd," he found himself muttering as he walked closer. As the distance between himself and the flame decreased, he could slowly make out what seemed to be a young woman. "An elemental perhaps? Or maybe another denizen of the fire plane."

It appears to be a living flame, a voice called out.

Aiden whirled, surprised both at the voice and the fact that someone else would even be in this place. This is either a pleasant coincidence...or the beginning of a very bad night, the elf thought. He faced this newcomer slowly, keeping his hands in plain view and away from his blade.

"Hello traveler," he said politely, "Forgive me if I seemed a little startled. it's not often that you find other people this far out." As he spoke, Aiden noticed that this newcomer seemed as if he were preparing for something...a spell, from the looks of it. Surely he wouldn't want to fight if he knew I was just a passing traveler, Aiden told himself. But nonetheless, he prepared to spring away quickly should the need arise. While he hoped that this person wasn't evil enough to attack without reason, the elf would be taking no chances, despite his polite introduction. . .

OOC: Sorry for the late response. I hadn't linked this to my email yet, so I didn't see the post. My bad.

Hotaru continued to shape his spell when the man spoke up to him. He had went and formed a fireball in his hand. He wanted to see if adding more fire to it would make it grow or something first before altering the flames in anyway. Then he went to register what the man had said to him. He grinned. "Startle me? Please, I am always on alte- ow." Hotaru started as he threw the fireball back and forth between his hands. He missed it with one hand as it burnt the tip of one of his fingers and the orb of flames flew towards the Elf at highspeeds.

"Opps." Hotaru whispered to himself as he looked up from his finger, which was fine with just slightly burnt and the fireball reached out towards the Elf. Well, that wasn't very good, oh well. Can't change what was already done. Just hoped he dodged it or something, maybe if it hit him hard enough it would kill him and he wouldn't have to worry about it.

OOC: Sorry about small post, just trying to get them out of the way right now.

OOC: No prob

BinC: Aiden watched, amused as the man before him juggled a fire spell between his hands as if playing with a toy. He must be quite proficient with those spells if he's playing around like that, the elf thought. While he was a bit wary of such nonchalant use of the fire spell, he wasn't particularly worried. Let's hope he doesn't shoot that thing, though.

"Startle me? Please, I am always on alte- ow."

Aiden's eyes widened as the fireball that had previously been nestled in the man's hands flew towards him at high speeds. "Great," the elf muttered as he stretched his hand out and quickly summoned what magic he could. His eyes glowed a soft red as he tapped into his fire knowledge and drew on its power. While Aiden could do little about the fireball itself, he simply altered its direction, sending it far left of his position.

The adjustment sent the spell careening into the ground, slamming into the grass in a small explosion. Dirt and bits of burning grass fell from the air as Aiden moved back a bit to survey the damage. "That was a bit strong to be playing with, don't you think?" Aiden asked. . .

Hotaru shook his head. "No." He said, that wasn't powerful enough. He wasn't powerful enough. Despite the time he tore down Kellen entirely with the help of Duo and his Mammoth, he could gain more powerful probably and it would be much more useful than that fire spell. "That spell was weak... if you want to see true power I can gladly show you. Kellen liked the show as well." He said preparing for another spell to be cast. It wasn't that strong but it would be effective against the Elf to prove his point.

"Now then, you want to play with Hotaru the Chopper as Cascadia calls me or we could go and get lunch or something." He said with an odd glee of madness behind his eyes and smile. He was thinking about something, or well, something that didn't even connect. "I feel like Dwarf, they aren't that good but edible." He said with a small chuckle of madness that showed he wasn't even lying about it. He wondered what the Elf's respond would be, many people saw it as wrong or disgusting to eat other living beings like that, yet almost everyone ate chickens or cows. How weird of them.

"That spell was weak... if you want to see true power I can gladly show you. Kellen liked the show as well."

Kellen? Aiden thought quickly. He began to look over this strange character closely, noticing as if for the first time his red locks and foreboding eyes. They seemed to ring a bell in the elf's mind, but he simply couldn't place where he'd seen such a figure before. He was going to shrug off the idea when the man spoke again.

"Now then, you want to play with Hotaru the Chopper as Cascadia calls me or we could go and get lunch or something."

Aiden's eyes widened as his hand went reflexively to his sword. His mind wandered as Hotaru talked about eating dwarves and the like. I saw him on a wanted poster! the elf thought, almost hitting himself for his forgetfulness. Now that Hotaru had revealed his name, memories started flooding back to the elf and his anger boiled. He had had dear friends at Kellen, some of which hadn't survived the last attack on the village.

"If that's the case," Aiden said sternly as he drew his sword, "I'm afraid I can't 'get lunch' with you. As a matter of fact, I do believe I'd be neglect in my duty if I didn't kill you here and now for what you've done to innocent people." He took a few slow steps forward and said, "Is there something you'd like to say before I strike you down? If you need a moment to pray, I'd be happy to grant it. . ."

Hotaru blinked and titled his head when Aiden spoke up and drew his sword. He would have to kill him? Well that wasn't as fun, but it would probably be as fun none the less. He would have a moment to pray, and he killed innocent people? Hotaru didn't remember killing innocent people besides by accident in a fire wave or something. Those were dead and he didn't care very much, people were killed all the time when they didn't want to be. Their lives were pointless anyways, Hotaru's life was pointless, this Elf's life was pointless. They all did what they did and it just went on and on. To the pointless end of nothing.

"I don't remember killing any innocent people on purpose. The people in Kellen hated me since before I burned it down and sent most of the buildings into magma. The people I kill as 'Hotaru the Chopper' are greedy people who sacrifices things unneeded for money. No living being is innocent anyways, most of the people I met are mentally disturbed and deserve death." He said as he took his sword and jammed it into the ground in front of him. Showing the sign of no care or resistance. Hotaru would take the moment he was offered to pray.

"Give me only three minutes then, and then you are allowed an attempt at my life, Elf." He said with a glare then kneeled down, he seemed to be muttering to himself, as if to a god. His hands clasped together as he closed his eyes. He was focusing on a spell, one that Fehade had taught him. He didn't have any god, none that he followed. The Gods had fallen anyways. After the two minutes the spell was prepared fully and he waited an expecting to focus it a little more. It could be done quicker but he wanted to use his time to think.

"Time's up, I guess?" He said after two minutes and fourty seven seconds. He said the Elf had been allowed an attempt on his life, he clapped his hands again as if he was ready for it, the moment he did that a large burst of fire brought out in front of him. It swirled and grew very quickly, and it turned into a flaming vortex of fiery red death and destruction. A Fire Storm, to put it. It was shaped like a tornado of fire, quite large as well, twenty feet in diameter. It quickly charged towards the Elf.

To say the least, Aiden was a bit surprised when Hotaru actually took advantage of the time that he gave. Nonetheless, the elf thought that the entire thing was a bit suspect. He began gathering his own magic, preparing himself for the attack he was certain would be coming soon. Aiden's suspicions were only confirmed when Hotaru asked for three minutes specifically. Given his rudimentary knowledge of magic, the elf knew that such time would allow for a very powerful spell to be called forth.

However, Aiden made it appear as though he was falling for the trap. He dropped the point of his sword toward the ground and simply stood with his arms loosely at his side. He thought about whistling, but decided against it. He needed all of the concentration he could muster in order to prepare his defenses. Despite knowing that Hotaru would be launching an attack, he was actually a bit surprised when his opponent stopped before the full three minutes was up.

"Time's up, I guess?"

Here it comes, the elf thought resignedly, bringing his sword back up in a defensive posture. He brought his free hand close to his chest and prepared a spell of his own as a wave of fire arched out towards him. What are the odds he only knows fire spells? Aiden thought amused before bringing his hand up and out in front of his body. He realized that if this were the case, his training as an infernos would come in very handy. Two can play this game, my friend.

"Naur arrna," he incanted, releasing his own magical energy and launching his own stormy inferno. While Hotaru's spell charged forward like a tornado, Aiden's surged forward as a wall of red hot flame. The two spells collided roughly midway between the two combatants, roaring violently as they made contact. Waves of heat rolled from the two spells, washing the battlefield in a brutally hot wind. Smoldering flames ate at the once grassy clearing as the two attacks seemed to battle for dominance.

After a few tens of seconds, the two spells seemed to explode with a blast of powerful fiery energy. The flames expanded violently, creating a burning crater that filled the space between Aiden and Hotaru. The elf grimaced at the devastation the two fighters had caused in what was once a peaceful place in an ancient city.

While the heat didn't bother Aiden much, even he was forced to squint at the power of the blast. "Impressive," he breathed, taking care not to underestimate his opponent. "Very nice," he said aloud as the sound of the explosion was carried off by the wind. "But I'm afraid you'll have to do a bit better if you'll want to escape with your life this night." Mentally, the elf reminded himself not to give this guy another period to pray. It might not work out so well next time. . .

Hotaru watched the two powerful waves of fire clash and he didn't care much for the show. It was a lovely display of power but Fehade had told him that when something like this happens, the other person is usually just watching. You start the next trick of the trade. He started to chant low beneath the roar of the flames and focused on the ground before him leading to where the Elf was standing. After he finished his hands pulsed with energy and he fell to his knees once again, and slammed both of his hands into the ground as the fire in front of him started to die out.

The split of earth and the rumble tore the ground quickly and the fire died completely. The split and bubbling of magma broke up from the gruond in front of Hotaru. The crater that was made from the two powerful fire magics clashing had already been covered up by magma and teh ground was opening up widely where the Elf was. The spell would continue on along and take out a building or two of the ruins behind the Elf into the molten grasp of fiery death. He stood there and stared with the intent of pure loathing and the willingness to destroy. His eyes would scare anyone of low morale or will.

Aiden's eyes darted back and forth as the two bursts of flame collided in midair. An experienced fighter would simply use the display as a cover for a counterttack--something that Aiden was sure this Hotaru character would do given the chance.

"Let's see how good you really are," Aiden muttered, sheathing his blade quickly and bringing his hands together. He prepared a spell of his own as he waited for his opponent's next move. Luckily, he didn't have to wait long as the ground began to quake and rumble at his feet. An earth attack? the elf thought, already preparing to dash away to safety. However, it only took a split second longer to realize what was really happening.

A large crack began to zigzag its way across the now grassless field. The gaping furrow began to be filled with red hot lava seeping from deep underground as waves of heat billowed from the crack. This is bad, the elf thought worriedly, his eyes already searching for an escape route. The way these spells usually worked, there would be few places that were safe from this fiery onslaught...but there was always one.

Aiden fixed his eyes on Hotaru's position as the crack grew larger, speeding towards his position. "Shol," he incanted. He blinked out of existence just a split second before a wave of molten lava reached his position. Smoke and steam filled the air as the lava traced a smoldering path across the field.

"I'll say this much," Aiden said from his new position just a meter or so away from Hotaru. "You're pretty good. But I'm afraid you'll have to be a bit better if you plan on beating me." The elf drew his sword again, preparing for another attack before continuing, "And maybe I'll get you to tell me about Kellen while I'm at it. I'm quite interested to know exactly what you did. . ."
