| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Kent sat at the long table, munching into a large and rather succulent apple. The juices dripped down the side of his mouth but he cared little about getting any dirtier seeing as his body was covered in dirt and some grosser things. The early morning had consisted of Kent bring piles upon piles of dirt mixed with horse feces out of the stables so that horses' area would be a bit nicer and cleaner. It had been hard work for the farm boy but nothing compared to the grueling hours under the sun in the middle of a field, picking small berries of branches over and over again. Life on the farm had been both physically and mentally hard from the monotony of the repetition of chores. Kent had been overwhelmed with joy during his first two days of travel from his farm house to this village as he had nothing to do other than soak in the world and the people that inhabited it. Sadly, this carefree way of life had ended quickly and abruptly when Kent realized just how little money he owned. The farm boy wanted to get back out on the road again, both to witness more cultures as Kellen was still very similar to his town, and to put more ground between him and his family. However, Kent needed to make a few pieces of copper before he ventured out again as the teenager lacked the funds to even stay at an inn for a night or buy a real meal for more than a single day. That is how Kent ended up working in the Great Stables that morning and while the work was dirty and hard, it payed well and came with complementary food and lodging, two things the homeless farmboy truly needed. He was about to go back to work moving the dirt mixture when another person barged into the stables. |

Humming softly, like she often did when she was walking on her own or doing anything for that matter, Cassiel made her way down the streets of Kellen. She'd been here a few times as a child, but ever since she'd grown and become a young lady she didn't often take the chance. Cascadia was good enough of a city for her, but like everyone she had her days when she wanted to abandon it all and get away. This was obviously one of those days. The skirt of her dress tangled and blew about in the wind, hitting against her legs. With a pout she smoothed down her dress, adjusting it a little bit so it fit her somewhat better. Cassiel took a few moments to admire herself, praising herself for choosing this dress to wear. The top was white with short, poofy sleeves that were cut short at her shoulders, and almost resembled a blouse in that there were a few buttons that lead down from her neck. Only one out of the three was buttoned, leaving some of her flesh visible. Small, pink polka dots littered the skirt, simple but hardly tacky - Cassiel didn't go for tacky. The very hem had little designs cut out of it and was a light beige color. Seeing the stables ahead, Cassiel decided to go visit. Although she had her own stable at the Villa, her parents had neglected to fulfill their promise to buy her horses or ponies. She'd been able to cope as a child with her imagination, and although she didn't really care too much now, she could still visit couldn't she? Pulling the door open, the young lady stepped inside, closing the door behind her. As she turned around, the sight of a young man graced her vision. Ooh, now this was an unexpected surprise! A pleasant unexpected surprise though. He looked really dirty, but he was still kind of cute. "Oh, hi," she said, folding her hands behind her back and cocking her head to the side, locks of brown and white hair falling loose from behind her ear. "Are you working? I can leave, if you'd like me to, but I'd much rather stay. I'm Cassiel." She smiled coyly, cheering inwardly. She had such good luck. |

Kent was embarrassed simply stated. Here, a beautiful young girl had just walked up to him and introduced herself in such a pleasing manner but Kent was covered in dirt and a disgusting combination of many other things that was most likely creating a disgusting order. On top of that, Kent had never ever met a girl that was even around his age other than his sister's back on the farm. So to add that all together, it was surprising that Kent was even able to speak to the pretty young lass. "Hi..."he said to buy him more time as he thought of a proper response to her question that was more of a statement. The girl before him was dressed proper for a girl her age but then again the open buttons showed a bit more flesh than what Kent's mom would have allowed back at the farm house. "It is would be amazing if you stayed here," Kent said, almost physically wincing after he heard how desperate he sounded. Social tact was one of the skills that you simply did not learn out on the farm when the only ones that you ever communicated with were your family and then you were usually too tired from all the work that day had to offer to even think correctly. "I mean...it will be pretty boring as I need to make some money so that..."Kent had been about to recite his whole problem but he figured that the female before him cared little about his pathetic plight after Kent had made the rash desicion to run away from his house with no supplies or money. |

Cassiel curled her upper lip into her mouth at his single worded reply. Was he embarrassed? Oh, that was cute. She loved it when she had that effect on men. It wasn't often that she came across the shy ones - the crude, obnoxious ones were a bit too overpopulated - but but the shy ones always seemed very sweet and actually had tact. And they blushed easily and stumbled over their words. Now that she had something of a game, Cassiel wondered how many times she could get him flustered. Well that didn't take long! Her eyes widened and her brows shot up, jaw dropping about an inch as he blurted out that next sentence. Amazing if she stayed there?! She could hear the hint of desperation to his voice and musical giggles spilled forth from between her lips. She lifted her right hand to cover her mouth, though it did little to muffle her laughter, and the other went to her hip. "Well then I'll stay!" she responded, bowing her head and shaking it in an amused fashion. "It's nice to know you're so enthusiastic!" Cassiel almost snorted, but took a deep breath to ensure she wouldn't do something so mortifying. She walked closer to him, looking in each of the stalls. There were a few horses here, though not every single one was filled; she figured they must have been out grazing or with their owners or something. "So thaaaaat...?" she dragged out, leaning against a stall door opposite him and folding her arms over her chest. Her eyes met his and she lifted her brows again for a brief moment. "Feel free to continue, I don't mind. Hehe, cute, so you're trying to make an honest living?" The thought amused her. Her habit of thieving had never quite left her. |

Why do I have to be covered in this gross thing? Kent said to himself, berating himself for even getting into this situation. The more tactful thing would have been to send this beautiful girl away until after work for some more alone time. Sadly, Kent was now stuck working in the gross horse feces in front of this girl whose name was still not none to him. Hopefully Kent would find away to quickly shower off once his shift ended and before this woman realized that the wretched smell was coming from him just as much as the barn. And then she began to laugh at him. What ever self esteem that Kent had managed to save after being caught in such an awkward situation immediately vanished. The farmboy did not think what he had said was so horrendous but obviously the statement was so out of place that it had sent this girl into hysterics. Kent immediately began to blush as he turned away from the girl, unable to look at her as she laughed at him. The curt move of putting her hand in front of her mouth did little to shelter Kent from the hurting laughs. At least she was staying was the only positive thought that Kent could even begin to think of as he turned to look at her again as she began talking again. "Trust me, if there was any other way to make money around here I would as ready as.. I do not even know what," Kent said as his cheeks began to blush all over again as her eyes pierced his. The farmboy was not exactly sure what the girl meant by an honest living but he was quite prepared to do anything to escape this wretched smelling barn to be with this beautiful girl. "And I am Kent by the way.." Kent said shyly, not really sure what had provoked him to say his name. |

Ooh, he was blushing. Ten points for Cassiel! Feeling rather accomplished that she had managed to make his skin burn like that, her lips pulled into a little bit of a smirk. "Aww, come on now," she began, her smirk quickly turning into an only somewhat sincere pout. "You don't have to get all embarrassed, hunny." She was absolutely awful. She wondered why he was so shy - it wasn't normal for people to be so withdrawn and introverted. She shrugged her shoulders at what he said before lifting a slender finger to tap against her temple. "Think," she said. "You could always steal if you don't want to be here this badly. Or perform. Or take a job at the tavern... but that place is just as dirty as this place is." Her nose wrinkled at the thought and a shudder ran up her spine. "Filled with bastards and whores." Her language was a little crude, but she was too used to speaking like that to censor herself. "Kent," Cassiel tried the name out on her tongue. It was strong; she decided she liked it. "It fits you." She smiled sweetly. "Cassiel. But I hate my full name, so just call me Cass. It's easier to say anyway." |

It was an interesting way to stop someone from being embarrassed was one of the major thoughts that was rushing through Kent's head. Calling them out on their emotions was always a good way to do the exact opposite of what Cassie said she was trying to do but even the naive Kent began to realize that the pretty woman was getting a good kick out of messing with the farmboy. If Kent had not grown up on the farm where tears simply resulted from a good back hand from your father, he probably would have broken down into tears due to the level of embarrassment he was facing. Not only had she realized just how embarrassed he was but she had called Kent 'hunny.' While the young farmboy was not exactly sure whether to take that as that Cassie thought he was good looking or if she was simply just teasing him more, Kent at least settled on that it was better than her noticing just how smelly he was. She had also given him some thoughts on how to make a few more gold than shoveling dirt and grim off the floor for hour at end. "Stealing..that's interesting. You know I stole this here sword," Kent said, pointing to the bench where his sword and bag rested. Kent puffed out his chest ever so little without even realizing he had done anything when he boasted about his efforts. "Grabbed that and my bag before I ran away from my farm,"the farmboy said with a chuckle as he bested his emotions with simply boasting. |

Aw... well not she sort of felt bad. But only sort of. He didn't seem very happy with the way she was treating him, but she wouldn't apologize. There was no point in apologizing when it had already been done, and it wasn't really her fault he was getting all flustered - it was his. Still, she decided she could tone it down at least a little bit, if only for the sake of her conscience. "Did you?" she asked with a grin. "Did anyone notice you? God, I used to get caught all the time when I stole stuff when I was little. Of course that's because I stole money... but you know." Cassiel laughed at herself, shrugging her shoulders. For some reason it was always easier to tell things to strangers, although what that reason was she couldn't exactly pinpoint. ... Farm? Well that explained why he seemed so goddamn sheltered. She inwardly wondered if he liked places like this, barns and other stinky things, but she decided that was a little bit too crass to ask. "Why'd you run away?" she asked, as if that was an even less sensitive topic. "What, were they not nice to you? Or something?" |

Why did Kent run away? Because he thought had bigger plans for his life rather than just doing the same thing that his father had done which was the same thing that his father had done and so on and so forth. Along with that, Kent wanted to learn, he wanted to be someone who actually accomplished something and effected other peoples life. Working on the farm surely supported a few families but if Kent's family stopped producing these families would simply move onto a new farm for their products. Their lives were pointless and when Kent had finally came to the knowledge that his life on the farm was not going any where at all, he had done the only thing he could. Kent had picked up and left. However, Cassie would get a much simpler answer as Kent was sure that she was not actually interested in what Kent's life was about. "I've always figured that I should do something more with my life than just move hay all day," Kent said with a chuckle as he remembered that he was doing practically the same thing only a few more miles away. "You used to steal? Mind helping me get a few financial assets?" |

A snicker came as his response, followed by soft giggles. "That'd become rather tedious quite quickly, I'm sure," she said. "I can't believe you put up with such a life for so long! I would have run away ages ago." Clearly, Cassiel was not one for physical labor. It was obvious in her attitude and in her physical stature, though mostly in her attitude. Her parents had never made her work, aside from setting the table and other minor household chores. She loved them for that. Grinning widely, Cassiel pushed off from the stall, standing straightly. The prospect of getting to steal and teach another the ropes, so to speak, was absolutely enticing. "I still steal, if it's shiny or worth enough..." she said. "Did it more as a kid, but you never forget something so easy." She tapped her index finger against her temple. "I wouldn't mind at all, you'll be learning from an expert," she said. "But you gotta do some of it yourself, just so you learn. If you get in trouble I'll get you out of it." She winked. "You wanna finish up here or just get out? I don't mind waiting if you want to stay." |

Kent was almost over come with joy as he realized that with a little bit of proper training in the art of being fast with your fingers, he would never have to work another day in some random stable house shoveling horses feces. However, before he began to work with Cassie securing himself a few things he would defiantly need for the road, Kent had to get some of the dirt and grim off his body. He was literally caked in the stuff and the smell was even begining to assault his own nose which was far from delicate after having worked on a farm for the majority of his life. "You mind if I clean myself off first? I think there is even a few buckets of water out back that I could use really quickly before the owner even realizes that I am leaving," Kent said, trying once again to act cool in front of this gorgeous woman to was going to teach him how to steal. Kent kept on thinking what type of parents would let a young girl go around stealing what ever she wanted but he with held that thought for the time being. However, it slipped out in some fashion in his next question. "And your parents know that you steal things?"Kent said with a little chuckle to make it seem as it was mere conversation but in truth, Kent really wanted to know what other people's parents were like outside of the farm house setting. |

"Of course I don't mind," Cassiel responded. How could she mind him cleaning up? She'd noticed that he was dirty and she, being the vain thing she was, did not want to be seen with someone who didn't take care of themselves physically. "Take as much time as you need. Should I go wait outside?" His next question made her lips curl into a smirk. In all honesty she wasn't sure... Seth and Nikkolai weren't stupid, but she was sneaky. Cassiel tilted her head back a little and though, placing her index finger against her chin and tapping it lightly. "I'm not sure," she said. "I mean, I know they frown upon it, they have all these morals and crap. Dad knows I stole when I was little and I did stop for a while once I was living with him and Mom... don't know if they know I still do. Only on occasion now, though, when I know I can get away with it - I don't like causing too much trouble." Shrugging her shoulders, Cassiel turned to walk out, figuring it didn't much matter. "I'll just go wait," she said, answering the question she had asked earlier. She walked out the doors, leaving them open for him, and walked around to the front, deciding she would stay there. |

Kent quickly removed his pants and shirt before pouring the buckets over his body and one bucket over his clothing to at least remove some amount of dirt and feces that had collected along and in the cloth. The cold water dripped from his body as he began putting back on his pants but he kept his shirt off, figuring there was no harm in letting it dry a little more. Back on the farm, he had worked without a shirt almost every day during the summer so he did not find it too weird to be doing just that in the small village that was Kellen. "So where to begin?" Kent said as he moved out of the stables to stand next to the young lass. His rather strong and muscular body was lightly peppered with water that made it gleam in the sun and Kent flexed involuntarily as he replaced his shirt after he wrung it out again to clear it of as much water as possible. "And you must be quite sly to keep your parents from knowing that you steal for such a long time? I remember the one time I stole an apple from the family cupboard, my mom saw me eating it on the porch so she tanned me for a good hour," Kent said shyly, almost embaressed that he got caught. "Mind you I was only five back then." |

Cassiel turned her head when he joined her outside, her eyes immediately drawn to his naked torso and the beads of water that had gathered upon his healthy, tan flesh. She was silent for a few moments, stunned into speechlessness before she remembered he'd asked a question. "Oh wha'? Um..." She blinked for a few moments, tearing her eyes away from him in the hopes it would help her get her mind back. She bit her lower lip, looking at the people in the street for anyone who looked particularly vulnerable. An eyebrow lifted in both confusion and sympathy when he told his story. "Why would you have to steal from your family cupboard? I thought families were supposed to share... your mother overreacted, I think," she said. Cassiel had been blessed with two wonderful fathers, and was only now beginning to learn that people didn't always get the same chance she had been granted during her rough childhood. "Well, let's see if you've learned anything since you were five," she said, beginning to walk back into the crowd, looking over her shoulder to make sure Kent was still there with her. "You have to make yourself look inconspicuous, that's the trick. Since we're working as a team it shouldn't be too hard... we can even make up a little act if you want. You want to try distracting someone while I go for their pockets? You up to that?" |

Kent was oblivious to Cassie's obvious embarrassment at his naked torso but by the time he had his shirt on and he looked back at the woman, she was already onto the topic of stealing. The day Kent had stolen the apple from the cupboard was one of the years the farm had done poorly due to lack of rain and the family needed every bit of food, but Kent kept that too himself as he liked the idea that this beautiful women felt bad form him. After he came out of his past memories, Kent just heard the last bit of the instructions to distract someone while Cassie took the gold and valuables that the people were carrying. "I am obviously new to this, how should I go about distracting the people? Should I like dance or what?" Kent said in all seriousness, as he looked out on the road that was filled with people making their way back to their houses after a long day either shopping or working or perhaps a mixture of both. They would either be laden with gold from working or valuable items from the shops, so it was a win win situation for the two teenagers. "If we could possibly get enough gold that I could actually get a room for the night, that would be awfully nice but my goal for right now is to get enough that I can leave this town. Then again, I am unsure of how much we are going to make," Kent said with a sigh as once again, he felt incredibly naive due to his sheltered life on the farm. |
