Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

The mountains soared around her, their peaks reaching up into the blue sky. The day was sunny, but a wind had picked up and, where once it had been pleasant and warm, it was now becoming cold. The farther the company moved up the mountain the colder it seemed to get. The light blue sky didn’t mimic summer anymore; instead it reflected the cool wind that danced around them. The mountains had rivers of red granite running through it and they were flecked with blue, grey and even pink. No bugs seemed to crawl along the surface, and where they walked seemed like some god had reached down and took a square chuck out of the mountain. They walked on flat ground, nearly ten feet across, with a sheer cliff face that rose up on the left, and a perilous drop on the left.

Shadeen tried to stay as close to the rock wall as possible while staying with Fehade and Evier. They seemed to like to walk closer to the edge than Shadeen would have, but she knew what would happen if she strayed too far, and so she stayed close to the left without being far from them. She was wearing a heavy cloak against the cold, and was shouldering a backpack full of supplies. She wasn’t even aware why they were up here. Just a vague idea that it was to cause pain. Whether that was an actual idea or just her feelings towards the demon she wasn’t sure. They moved at a casual pace, for which Shadeen was glad, but if they decided to move she always had Loki, his reins clutched in her right hand.

The wind picked up then and swept through her cloak, she pulled it closed with her left hand and put her head down. Her ears burned already from the cold, which was odd for her since she usually didn’t feel the cold as much anymore. Her smooth burned skin hid beneath her cloak, but the burns on her face were still getting the full blast of the wind. Once her ears went numb she wouldn’t care, it was a feeling she was used to by now. Most of her legs and chest were numb, and where Fehade had carved into her arm was numb to. However pain was something she didn’t like, even the small pain of cold ears.

She shifted the backpack on her shoulder and tromped on after her Master, an eerie foreboding falling over her as she moved.

He was still never sure why he always felt drawn to the volcano in the mountains, he just liked it there, he guessed it all just had something to do with his fire controlling. He trudged through the snow, behind him Evier followed, who was wearing several layers of wool cloth clothes. A dark dress made with thick material, and a jacket, and even a cloak tossed over her shoulders with the hood up, and a veil was covering most of her face. The cold really didn't bother Fehade, all he wore was, and the form he took was This. Though the long was a nuisance blowing around his head, all he did to fix this problem was pull it back and tie it there with a piece of leather.

He glanced behind him and past Evier to where Shadeen walked, a slight smile on his face. The cold most likely bit at her more, and the thought of her being absolutely miserable filled him with joy. Grinning, he turned his attention to where he was walking, close to the edge. He glanced down, not even bother by being high up and how a misstep would lead to ones death, but with his now immortality should protect him from dying since he was already considered dead.

The air around Fehade was warmer, the cold air that whipped about never got close to him as from being an inferno, heat always seemed to radiate off him, and his skin was always burning. He lifted his hand up and let a small flame appear, then let it spread out til it covered his hand, then he clenched his fist, making the flames disappear.

"Should be there soon." He muttered. He looked back towards Shadeen, and beckoned her to come closer with his hand before speaking. "Have you ever seen the volcano, pet?" He asked.

Although Fehade gave off heat Shadeen was loath to go near him but she had to stay close. He liked walking near the edge and it freaked her out. She accidentally kicked over some rocks and they tumbled over the side. She watched them bounce off into oblivion. Shadeen swore that the sound of them falling faded before they even hit the bottom. She shuddered and hurried to catch up with Fehade and Evier. She was torn between following as far away as possible and clinging to one of them. Instead she stayed at her own distanced pace, not too close but not very far behind either.

Fehade turned around then, his eyes lingering on her. “Pet” the word instilled shame and obedience in Shadeen. She lowered her eyes and kicked at the snow. She actually had been up here once.

“Yes Master, it was a long time ago though.” Back when I was still me. “But I didn’t go very far up and I never made it to the top to see inside of it.” She actually hadn’t even made it this far up, she had basically just explored the caves further down near the base. They seemed endless and she missed the adventure it held, she missed being about to do things like that without being afraid all the time. She missed just not being afraid. It seemed every moment that passed her heart strained, and she wished that it would just give out already. But part of her wanted desperately to live.

She gave Fehade a small smile that was empty of emotion and turned her gaze back out over the abyss. It wasn’t that she wanted to look, it was more like there was nothing else to see or even look at. Rock or snow. She waited for him to look away, knowing full well he might just keep staring to make her uncomfortable. Shadeen wished she had more layers on but didn’t dare grumble or complain this close to Fehade, Master.

Red-soaked hair matted to the empty-eyed skull slipped between the leather folds of the bag's mouth as the head of yet another victim came into the surly dwarf's possession. Several hung at his belt already, but they weren't for him; they were for the half-mad noble who'd hired him to cut down a dozen men just to get to a few rogue merchants who'd decided they didn't want to be the noble's whipping dogs any longer. The headless corpses were strewn about the ground like so many dead flies on a window sill, the gaping entrance to the tunnels within the volcano a maw waiting to gobble the bodies up hungrily. It was impressive how often death was ravenous and this was no exception.

The dwarf's eyes gleamed with the excitement and his lips were curled into a satisfied grin as he tied the bag up and attached it to his belt with the others. He had cussed fit to scare an amoral pirate witless when he'd lost his beautiful steel kukri, a weapon made larger than most others to make it even deadlier than the small versions usually held by thieves and assassins; it had been a gift to him from a client who'd conveniently forgotten that the dwarf needed to be paid and found out that he rather preferred to keep his head on his shoulders. Needless to say, he was pretty bleedin' hot-headed about it; but at least he'd done the job and he'd be paid well for this - or else.

His boots crushed the ash and crumbling rock as jagged obsidian stalagmites passed him by on his way across the plateau. It was a small platform more than a plateau, but it seemed that map-makers liked to give things fancy names; in fact, that seemed to be their calling in life. Regardless, it was big enough to hold a great battle, and so the dwarf had. A score of bodies lay behind him as he approached the edge of the hill, which gradually dipped into a narrow path heading into the valleys between the peaks far below. But his steps slowed as he heard voices carried on the wind, a breeze that burned as it carried the heat of the volcano from behind him; actually, though, he didn't mind such heat as he had spent many years in mines and forges. But the voices were getting closer, just out of sight over the edge of the downward slope though they were.

More to kill? he wondered half with something almost akin to glee and half with the kind of suspicion usually reserved for his clients.

Whether more to kill or another job to take, he kept his hand on the stout hilt of the sharp steel dagger by his side, its red-stained blade ready to strike in a moment's notice should the situation find an angry dwarf in the heat of another gruesome battle. But the dagger should not be underestimated, for many a warrior had saved his skin in a pinch by whipping out a dagger at the second just before they would have lost their head. A dagger in the hand of a dwarf, though, was like a claymore in the hands of a giant. If he was called to battle, this would be an easy fight - for Hugen...

Her answer made him raise a brow slightly. So she had been here once? He didn't think she would, but as she said, it was probably a long time ago, he had a bet it was when she still had fairer skin, instead of its burned looked, that with a look at it made Fehade crack up inside most of the time. She was truly his best "project", or "toy". He grinned, watching her a while longer before looking up ahead at the path they walked. He couldn't wait to get to the top.

"Today will be your lucky day then, Shadeen, to finally see the great volcano. I still wonder why I feel so fascinated with it sometime. I've seen it a few times though, once when I wasn't using fire." What a odd time that seemed now, when he didn't use fire, and when he was pathetic using even dark magic, it seemed so long ago.

He looked back at Shadeen, and saw her smile, and he didn't like it for some reason, and so a frown appeared. He reached towards Shadeen, putting his hand on the side of her neck, and pulled her towards him, like a side hug almost, but he knew it would make her very uncomfortable, which would just make him all the more happier. He then stopped, making the small procession behind him stop also. He turned to face Shadeen better, lifting a hand and put it under her chin so she couldn't look away.

"I haven't beaten all the emotions out of you yet, have I?" He asked, putting a hint of disappointment in his voice, but the wide grin across his face betrayed his true feelings about that, before he laughed like it was joke. He released the girl, snickering as he started walking again, but just ended up stopping again when he caught a smell of blood. He looked up ahead where it came from, near the volcano.

"Looks like we can have a little more fun today. My, this day is just getting packed filled with fun." Fehade laughed, smiling. He walked on ahead, fingers tapping on the hilt of his katana.

Christofer had no idea why he had wandered to this area of the world, well sure he knew why he was there and all that. He had heard a legend of a rare and beutiful flower that was said to grow close to the vulcano, it had made him interested so he had gathered his things and ventures to the mountains in order to search for this rare flower. He was going to find it, dig it up with the dirt around, but it inside of the box he had with him and then returned to Norwood and plant it outside of the guildhall as a surprise to mommy.

He knew that he had made her worried and that she was angry when he talked up against her, maybe this would make her a little happier? That was anyway what the young weretiger hoped as he walked up the mountainside, he had not noticed the scent of the others present not all to far away. Mainly because the wind was in another direction. Chris stretched his arms over the head and yawned slightly at the same time. He stopped all of a sudden as the wind shifted slightly and he noticed the smell in the air, yeah that was blood alright. He smelled the air for a moment and anyone that had seen him could think that it looked rather cute when he was doing this. After a while he frowned and rubbed his hand against the back of his head for a moment. There was other smells to what he could feel, there was others in the area and one of them was familiar to him, he had felt the smell somewhere before in the past. He was not sure who or what, but it was best if he stayed a little away for now...just to be on the safe side.

Yaksha was a long way from home, but he had decided that this was a good time to go sight-seeing. He walked over thin air, making his way towards Therab at a fair pace. The cold of the higher parts of the volcano may have been quite annoying for the lich if he had chosen to take a human guise today. However, he had simply chosen to throw a cloak around his form so people wouldn't be intimidated by a skeleton walking through the air; granted, a cloaked figure walking through the air also caught some glances, but it was the PRINCIPLE of the matter.

As he grew closer to the volcano, he began to hear voices from higher up. Familiar voices, one in particular. The demon Fehade had decided to come to the volcano for some reason, and Yaksha almost laughed out loud if he didn't beleive it would alert his presence. Instead, he landed on the rocky patch, walking just over the pebbles and bumps as he followed after them. His swift pace guaranteed he'd catch up with them soon, and when he did, this day would become much more interesting. Even now, as he rounded a corner, he spotted the demon, along with...Shadeen? He would've stopped to gawk in awe, if he didn't fear losing them. Instead, he inhaled deeply, crying, "Fehade! Good to see you!"

Feahde’s hand touched her skin and Shadeen felt an electric bolt of fear shoot down her spine. Her legs almost buckled under her as Fehade pulled her close to him. She squirmed but didn’t make any move to pull away, knowing that if she did things could only get worse. She dealt with his arm around her but she couldn’t bear to look at the man who had ruined her life, body, soul. He stopped and Shadeen stopped with him.

His hand tilted her head up so that she was forced to look up at him, and his fingers held her fast so she couldn’t look away. Fear galloped behind her wide eyes. Shadeen flinched when he laughed and when Fehade released her she nearly stumbled in her hast to get some distance between them.

“Fun”. Shadeen always shuddered when Fehade found a reason to use that word. It was never good. People always got hurt… she was usually among them. If he started a fight she could just run away, let the others deal with Fehade…

When did I get like this?

Shadeen hung her head and kicked at the snow. It scattered beneath her boot in a plume of white. But then a voice rang in her head and Shadeen whipped around.

"Fehade! Good to see you!"

“Yaksha?”

What was he doing here?

(OoC: Sorry it took awhile. Alright now... Fight! :P)

((I'm honestly not sure exactly what to post at this point, so this is probably gonna be short and not very good. My apologies in advance. :/ ))

Ah, the bitter scent of blood in the chill mountain air: what a blessed smell that was! It filled his senses, made his muscles contort, his pulse race, his heard pound! It was ambrosia to the ill-minded dwarf, for he liked - no, scratch that...he LOVED to torture others, to hear them scream, to taste their fear as it rose like smoke on the thermals of dwarven glee and rode into his icy, black heart like a ghost ship in pirate-controlled waters.

But a fight, on the other hand - that was more than just a work of art. A truly bloody battle, fierce combatants locked in a struggle against death as they wrestled with life, brutally tearing their opponents limb from limb! The bloodthirsty chuckled at the masterpiece of an image, the gruesome battlefield filling his mind as he licked his half-parched lips in anticipation of the carnage that was undoubtedly about to ensue. If he was the one to start it, all the better - but it sounded to him like things were about to heat up with or without him. He'd just have to join in the fun once it began and hope for the worst...

He grinned at seeing the girls face, such a pathetic whelp she was. He would have continued on trudging towards the volcano but something once again made him stop, anger flashing darkly through his eyes as he looked towards the person who had called out to him in such a friendly voice, and it angered him ever more. His fist clenched and unclenched in anger, teeth grinding. He looked at Yaksha with eyes that could break a person down in fear.

"Yaksha." Fehade hissed. "Why the hell are you here, on the same mountain and path I am? How about you go and find some other mountain." He said darkly. The last time he had seen the lich was when he was nothing but a living creature, now though, he was a vampire, and now he was stronger, but he was always stronger.

"Y'know, we never did finish that quarrel we had. Maybe I should shut you up for good this time." He said thoughtfully, grinning wickedly. Fehade's unholy aura pulsed with more power as Fehade gather his dark magic, his left hand swathed again in a black mist of darkness. His other hand held Ismon, the blade shimmering with power.

"Lets play some, friend." He whispered just as he used inflict minor wounds on Yaksha, but of course it wasn't much of a minor attack anymore, being a archmage in the dark magics, the spell has gotten very, very powerful and would cause even a lich great pain.

Yaksha nodded to Shadeen, before raising a hand; a white flame sprouted to life over his palm, flickering gently as he smiled calmly at Fehade. "I beleive this mountain and this path are still open to the public, Fehade. Your attempts at intimidation don't worry me. I'm stronger now, and I've got a few tricks that you may be surprised by..." At this, he closed his hand around the flame, and it crawled along his body quickly, quickly engulfing his entire form within seconds. As this odd flame flickered, he rose a hand, pointing at the moon that had mysteriously replaced the sun. "For the next 30 minutes, the sun shan't peek from through my glamour."

At this point, Fehade's spell flew forward, causing him to stumble backwards, and his hands to fly to his chest. His body began to tremble from within the flames, and it sounded almost like he was crying. However, the flame quickly receded, and the rictus on his face made it apparant that this was laughter; Yaksha was almost taunting Fehade, as he ran a finger across the gash on his chest. "Now, Fehade. I think even one untrained in magic could do more damage than this." He cocked his head, smiling nastily. "If that's all you've got, you'll never drive me off of this mountain."

"I beleive this mountain and this path are still open to the public, Fehade. Your attempts at intimidation don't worry me. I'm stronger now, and I've got a few tricks that you may be surprised by..."

Fehade just glared at Yaksha. Who gave a damn if he had some new tricks with him? So did he. He watched the white flame though, it was disgusting, flames should only be fiery red, any other color was just not natural and just really annoyed him for some reason. The moon that replaced the sun, it was suddenly dark, and instead of how darkness used to ruin his eyesight, it now made it better. During the day though the sun didn't make him burst into flames or anything, it still hurt his eyes, but now it was nice and dark, making his vampire sight even better.

Fehade didn't like Yaksha's reaction to his dark magic, though Fehade magic was strong and pure dark magic, still didn't seem to effect the lich that badly, which really got on his nerves too. He took a deep breath, fist still clenching and unclenching.

"You really shouldn't talk." He growled.

Then he used Ring of Fire, the fire sprouting out of the ground, starting from one point the running in a circle. Fehade then enlarged the spell so it would reach around Yaksha from where he stood an around Fehade, enclosing them both in a wide circle. The fire roared high, melting any and all snow close to it. The heat that radiated from it was close to unbearable. He didn't even pay attention to Shadeen, Evier or Loki outside of the fire.

Fehade pulled his other sword Aparul out from its scabbard, his two great sword. Suddenly, Ismon was sheethed in flamed, and Aparul also, but with a practice swing, the flame lashed out like a whip, he had used the spell Fire lash, and had it at the ready.

Then with a couple more words of the spidery magic, Fehade cast Ignite on Yaksha before starting to advance forward.

Yaksha chuckled softly as he watched Fehade approaching, his white flames seething around him and concealing anything from within. His voice issued as a soft whisper, almost too quiet to hear even as close as Fehade was. "You're the same as you were last time we met, Fehade. Full of hot air, and confidence verging on idiocy." He gave a soft laugh as his hand slid out from the flames, now pure bone, with a silver ring on it. "Your final chance to surrender is here, Fehade. Kiss my ring, and we can both pretend we never met on this mountain. Even if you do win, it will hardly be worth the effort."

Before he could really respond further, the fire lash struck through his own white flames, knocking him back just slightly. He smiled, and stepped forward. "You're only proving further that your attempts to kill me are useless. I'm a lich, and you're...a vampire, I'd guess? Seems so very fitting for a leech like yourself. Bring your weapons against mine; we shall see how they add up soon enough. I assure you, neither of us will come away from this unharmed."

Shadeen watched what was going on, wringing part of her cloak nervously between her hands. She hated fights. They led to pain and hurt and, especially with Fehade, fire. Shadeen hated fire. She looked around nervously. Loki was with Evier, seeming to want to protect and be near her more than he did Shadeen. Stupid horse. He was probably the only horse Shadeen ever came close to hating. She still couldn’t quite hate him though, he was still a horse. But she disliked him greatly.

Suddenly Fehade cast a spell and fire erupted in a circle. Shadeen nervously stepped back away from the fire, but it seemed so big. She took another step back, tears in her eyes. Her boots found the edge and sent a few rocked tumbling down the side. They bounced off the sheer wall into the darkness below. Shadeen nervously looked down over the edge, she wrapped her arms around herself and hurried back closer. Just at that moment a burst of flame came out from the circle and with a cry Shadeen fell back...

...and tumbled over the edge.

“FEHADE!” She cried for the name of the only person she could think of, the closest thing she had to a relationship anymore. She didn’t even think of all the bad things at that moment, she just thought ‘I don’t want to die’. “FEHADE!”

The rock wall rushed past her as she fell. She violently hit a ledge and cried out with pain. It probably broke her arm but she didn’t have the time to think about it, because she rolled over the edge. She caught the ledge with one hand and swung for a moment, but her arm had been battered when she hit. “FEHADE!” Tears streamed down her face but the last of her strength fled her and her fingers released their grip.

Shadeen tumbled into the darkness. A brief flash lit up the blackness for a moment, a last desperate attempted to save herself with the only magic she knew. And then nothing.

Chris had started to move closer to the sound he now heard...he did not know what it was about but it did not look all to nice. He felt that familiar scent in the air as he began to come closer to the area. He was on another side from where the other was, but he saw what happened. No idea who Fehade and Yaksha was, but they did not look all to friendly, as he looked around he did see one person he knew....it was Shadeen? The girl he meet and became friend with in Cascadia before, what was she doing? Wait...could it be that? His eyes turned to Fehade again and then to Shadeen, was that the man that hurt he so much?

He heard the sound of the scream as Shadeen began to fall, the boy looked there and for a moment it was like the time stopped for him. He did not move and just followed the girl with his eyes as she feel screaming down into the darkness. When she was out of sight the boy just sat there and looked down the edge, he took a deep breath and then he nodded a little before he quickly jumped down on a cliff below....she might be alive? who was he kidding....what chance would anyone have from such a fall? But there might be some hope right? The teen continued to go deeper down, from cliff to cliff, he could see the lava and feel the heat. But he continued and searched with his eyes to see if he would find her body....or anything that showed where she could be.
