| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Kona’s head perked up when he heard the god speak his name…. wait, it was his name. A god had actually spoken directly to him, and even used his own name to do it? Kona couldn’t help but gawk slightly, that was more than just an honor; it was a blessing. Kona’s jaw opened and closed a few times in disbelief before he registered the other pointing to himself and saying “Duo”. So his god wished to be called Duo? So be it. In yet another display of his godliness, Duo made a dagger float through the air itself. Kona watched in awe as it settled gently into Duo’s hand. He was still numb with amazement as he felt his wrist being grabbed, but the sharp, cold sensation of the metal on his flesh followed by the sharp spike in pain snapped him out of it. This sort of thing wasn’t totally uncommon for him; it was one of the practices for the gods of war to give offerings of blood. It meant that to give your blood then, you would receive an apple amount of blood shed from the enemy in return. The native watched Duo lap up the blood eagerly; it was yet another numbing experience to have his blood being directly taken by his god; it made him shudder. Kona withdrew his arm as Duo finished and he rubbed his arm nervously. Was there something else he desired of him? |

He couldn't help but stifle a laugh with the back of his hand at how the other's mouth was agape at the simple act of using his name. He was going to enjoy seeing how else he could make this person surprised in the future; oh, the fun tricks he could pull! He was already running through them in his head, coming up with all sorts of amusing little displays he could put on. But how odd, it seemed like Kona had not only been expecting a little pain, he seemed to be accustomed to it. He let his eyes slide over the other's arms, checking for what he assumed would be there: other marks of a similar nature. If that was the case, he'd have to work on making him stop cutting himself. Even he knew it wasn't healthy. He watched the teen rubbing his arm for a moment, sitting back and laying down against the mound of pillows that were placed on the bed. It was exceedingly comfy, even for an undead like himself. He relaxed for a moment, sighing contentedly as he savored the last lingering taste of Kona's blood. It was nice to try something tropical for a change. He had continued reading Kona's thoughts the entire time, of course, and knew that the teen was ready to do whatever the redhead desired. With a smirk, he sat up, crawling towards the other with an almost predatory smile on his face before springing and tackling him, pinning him down... |

Kona’s eyes fluttered open after having a fairly pleasant nap. That had been such a strange dream; gods arriving on the island, getting his blood offerings taken directly and… wait a second. That was no leaf bed he was sleeping in, it was much softer and so very comfortable. As his vision cleared from the post-waking cloudiness he came to realize that he hadn’t been dreaming. With some degree of awkward stumbling he moved towards the edge of the palace and stared down in awe of the village below. He let out a soft gasp at the sight and shivered as the cool breeze blew past his skin. That left one thing to be answered, where was his god? Looking around he finally laid eyes on the being whose presence he treasured. “D-duo?” That was what he had wanted to be called right? If the last night had been any indication then he had been getting the name right, and Duo didn’t seem to mind being talked to. The native walked over to him slowly and settled down near him with a curious expression on his face. |

Sitting up in the bed, Duo turned over as Kona woke up, not wanting the other to know that he was already awake. He smirked as he watched the other stumble a bit, but it softened a second later- until he realized that it softened, then it quickly changed to a scowl. "You should put some clothes on," he called with a laugh, forgetting that Kona wouldn't understand him in the least. Swinging his legs over the side of the bed, he let out a yawn, running a hand through his red hair- scowling as he pulled a knot out- and stood up. He looked around the room, realizing that even as a vampire, he was a bit cold. Finding a circle of rocks inlaid in the floor, he walked over to it, moving a few logs nearby into the center with telekinesis. A flash of red in his eyes, a barked word in the Demonic tongue, and a fire was blazing. He sat before it, warming his dead hands in the red-orange flames. |

Kona had a look of confusion on his face as Duo spoke, as the god-tongue was a totally foreign language to him. The villager tried to discern what he meant but was left dumbfounded. He sighed and rubbed his arms from the chill of the morning breeze. It was rarely this cold down, but up in this palace it was by far easier to be chilled. The villager’s eyes widened again as his “god” brought forth fire again, but this time for warmth rather than for force. Then Kona had yet another confused face: why did gods get cold? Well that would be a silly thing; it must have been out of empathy for him! It made Kona giddy with excitement that he would think so fondly of him. Kona gladly took the opportunity to warm up by the fire and he looked admirably at Duo. Again the god had made it quite clear that he liked to be looked at rather than having views diverted from him, perhaps to show his radiance to all that wish it. Kona smiled and rocked his legs back and forth. |

Noting the look of confusion on his face, Duo resolved that at some time or another, he would have to work on getting this one to speak coherently- or, rather, in a language that he could actually understand. Still, body language was an easy thing to read, and he could tell Kona was cold. The other would probably appreciate the warmth of the fire. The look of pleased admiration didn't go unnoticed, making Duo grin at him. There was something infectiously uplifting about how innocent and simple Kona's way of life seemed to be, at how he could marvel at the smallest displays of magic. Duo decided to sit, crossing his legs and reclining on his forearms by the fire, eyes travelling to the spot next to him. A few minutes by the fire, and then they'd venture back down to the city. Vaguely, he wondered how the people would react to seeing their 'sacrifice' alive and well. After a good period of silence by the fireside, Duo had an idea, eyes opening slowly. He'd actually almost drifted off to sleep again, but the thought that Kona needed proper clothing had occured to him. Standing up, he strode to the same place he had taken his own clothing from the night before, looking through the different items. In the end, he decided on pants and a very loose shirt, but the pants struck him as too long. With a quick calling of his knife to his hand via telekinesis, he cut the pants to where he assumed was the knee, or a little below it, smiling with satisfaction at his work. He tossed them unceremoniously to Kona, hoping they wouldn't fall in the fire, and that the teen could figure out how to dress himself. If not, it was always possible that Duo could help him a bit if he had to. |

Kona watched Duo curiously as he filtered through the garments with some grand intent before he came upon his goal. The villager tilted his head to the side as the god brought up some odd looking cloth and tossed it to him. That was not before he, in another display of his divinity, brought a blade to cut part of it off. The mound of cloth landed in Kona’s lap to which he stared at it for a moment before looking over to Duo for inspiration. As he had not seen Duo actually dress in his current attire, the villager went by guess work. There was one set of fabric that held two decently sized tunnels which had recently been shorted by Duo’s blade. It was interesting and he had seen them on occasion despite the majority of the population donning loincloths of the sort. A quick glance to Duo revealed the means by which he was to wear it. With some discomfort he had put them on backwards, not realizing it and took an instant dislike towards the garments. However, since Duo wanted him to don it he would. Next came something else which was by far more foreign to him. It varied a bit from Duo’s means of dress so he couldn’t ascertain much in the way of clues. It was with a great deal of thinking that he began to relate it to how pelts were sometimes worn with the arms of the beast used to tie the rest as a cape. Taking that as the point to wear it he slipped the sleeves of the shirt around his shoulders and tied it in a knot. Kona turned to Duo with a grin on his face for his grand accomplishment. His chest was high with self worth and he eagerly awaited Duo’s approval despite the discomfort brought on by the strange pants. |

Had Kona never seen clothing before? Granted, the teen hadn't been wearing much when he'd first encountered him, but Duo had assumed it was simply hunting attire. Still, perhaps he should have been ready for such a mess just based on what the other villagers had been wearing; looking back, none of them had dressed extremely well. The islander's gaze was met with indifference, and just the slightest bit of shock that he honestly didn't seem to understand clothing. He watched while Kona dressed himself- or rather, attempted to. Attempted and failed miserably. The pants were clearly on backwards, he'd managed to much up putting a shirt on... Duo's face found its way into his palm, sighing to alleviate his frustration. He strode towards the other slowly, shaking hair from his face as he did so. Slowly enough that Kona could observe, he untied the shirt from around the teen's shoulders, sliding it down over him properly before stepping back to give him a moment to adjust. At the same time, he pointed at the garment and stated, "Shirt," figuring he could start teaching the teen some terms. After a short pause, he motioned downwards and said, "Pants," before tugging at the edges. Hopefully Kona would get the message so he could fix the garment. |

Duo’s aid was welcomed graciously and Kona gave an, “ah,” when the actual purpose of the shirt was revealed to him. It felt odd though, and he began to scratch incessantly at his sides. He called it a shirt, Kona committed that to memory as he itched. Duo didn’t seem bothered by his shirt, so why was he so itchy? Then there were those pants, well he had gotten them on mostly correct it seemed. Kona tried to interpret what Duo meant and decided to try putting them on again but in a different direction. There was a clear difference between the two sides and he nodded to himself as he realized that the having side that was now facing front in such a way was much more comfortable. He beamed his success to Duo, but not without scratching on occasion. |

Finally, the islander seemed to be realizing how to do things the right way. He couldn't help but wonder, though, why Kona was suddenly scratching himself in such an irritated manner. Perhaps a normal shirt had been too much of a change to begin with? Yes, that had to be it. He returned to the wardrobe, fishing around before victoriously returning to Kona. "Shirt off, vest on," he commanded, holding out the new garment for him to try. Hopefully, it would be more to the teen's liking. He nodded slowly as Kona righted his pants, giving a quick, "Good," before turning around and making his way back towards the bed, flopping down on it. "What to do, what to do," he repeated to himself, quite honestly perplexed as to what actions he should take. It would be fun to stay on the island longer, but he had to get home sometime. Until then, he knew what had to be done. They couldn't keep relying on bodily language forever, so he would try to teach Kona the common tongue. Hopefully, he'd prove to be a faster learner than he had been with clothing. |

Kona blinked as Duo dove back into the batch of clothes and he shifted to the tip of the toes to try and spy what he was up to. The garment he came forth with was odd, it had two holes like the shirt but opened in the front and had nothing to cover his arms. He figured that Duo wanted him to swap to it and so he did. The process wasn’t horribly smooth since the shirt wouldn’t come back over his head without some serious yanking. When that was done he examined the ‘vest’ as he had called it and mused over which way that went on. It seemed to have means to close it and he figured that it should be able to be done by the wearer so he put that on the front. Luckily that was the right way to do it and he gave Duo another proud, beaming smile. Thankfully this ‘vest’ was much less itchy than the ‘shirt’ and he enjoyed the freedom it provided. He didn’t bother to close it or else it would perhaps face the same fate as the shirt. Kona played with its ends for a time before noticing Duo stalking off towards the bed. Figuring he might want some company the native stepped over to the bed and sat down, only it was upon Duo that he sat. He smiled innocently and wiggled his toes which were next to each side of Duo’s chest. Well wasn’t that how he meant to give company? |

He watched with an amused smirk as Kona struggled to change out of his shirt and into the vest, waiting for him to finish and tapping his foot while he hummed an obscure tune to himself. At least he'd done it right this time, Duo noted with a satisfied grin, nodding his head slowly in approval. He couldn't help but grin a little wider as he realized that Kona wasn't going to bother closing it. He looked up in surprise as he felt Kona sit- on him. He looked with a smirk at Kona's feet wiggling by his chest, starting to laugh despite the oddness of the entire situation. He would definitely need to teach Kona that he couldn't go about greeting people like that. Not everyone, anyway. For now... Well, there were other things he wanted to teach Kona. Smirking, he sat up at the waist, hooking both arms around the teen's shoulders as he pulled him downwards... |
