Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

An End to a Treasure Hunt

Séregon felt satisfied after much traveling and retreiving the second half of the map. It had been tough for all those involved those that had fought with them and those that had to leave during the journey, but it was now comming to a close. They still had that powerful demon traped in the form of a human after them with his demonic sword, but hopefully he could complete his goal and find a way to foil the creatures plans. Well no point in waiting the map was glowing in front of him and he and the group following stared as it pointed into the lake. "Well great might as well see if this map has any more surprises for us."

Through out the journey the map had displayed various magic abilities and he hoped he didn't have to swim to a bottom of another lake. Séregon stepped forward slowly and those that followed were surrounded in a buble of air. He stepped back and it dissapeared. He looked carefully at the map and saw that it was leading to a cave system under the lake. He was slightly reminded of his first meeting with the cat(Far're) as he looked over the lake and glanced at the top of the falls. He had an odd feeling of coming full circle in his life and that was exceedingly odd for him. He couldn't shake the feeling that some major even in his life was coming, but chose to ignore it. "Well looks like we go down, any one want to back out. We don't know whats down there and I won't blame those that don't want to continue. Those that are comming gather around and we will see what we see." He asked as more of a formality not expecting anyone still with him to not join him in this last strech of the trip.

Kaess walked forward and was interested as again the mystical map glowed surrounding them with air by just walking a few feet into the lake. He also noted that the ancient elvish symbols for air and water had glowed, which made sense given what had happened. Stepping back afterwards he wondered what sort of mage had made this item. Still whatever it was leading them to was an important treasure and they couldn't let the demon get them. He had grown stronger since the last meeting with the demon and the fight would end differently now. He would destroy that evil the next time they met.

After listening to Séregon's words, Kaess moved next to Séregon. He had braved all the troubles before and he wasn't going to back out now. "Well I am still with you friend. Let us finish this hunt once and for all. Hopefully we can finish off that troublesome demon too. I am also interested in finnaly seeing this treasure you have chased after." Kaess add the last with a more cherful tone, in part trying to make the atmosphere less tense.

Nireza followed Séregon into the lake. She was surprised when the bubble formed within the water. However, she followed him in. She had been with him for a while, searching for a treasure of some sort and fighting bandits and a strange demon, who was still following them. It had been quite the adventure, and she wasn't about to leave the group now that they were so close to reaching their goal. At the least, she wanted to be there when this quest was finally finished. She also had some curiosity as to the nature of the treasure. Since a demon was pursuing it, it had to be valuable. She said, "I'm coming with you. I've been with this group for a while, and I'm not about to desert anyone. I want to help see this thing to its end. I'm also curious as to what would be so valuable that a demon would be trying to get his hands on it." She had to wonder how the map had been made. She was not used to such artifacts.

Kyzarin had been traveling and fighting with Séregon for a while. While he generally didn't approve of such dangerous attempts to get rich quickly, he saw reasons to stick with this group. For one, he just had to know what sort of treasure a demon would be going after. Also, there was a distinct possibility of serious problems if the demon actually got a hold of the treasure, including making the demon more powerful in some way.

He followed Séregon and the others into the lake and the strange air bubble that had been formed for them to pass through it. He said, "I've been part of this group this long, and I see no reason to quit now. Given how much the demon seems to want this treasure, we need to stop him from getting it. I don't want to know what happens if he does."

Nimahtor had been with this group for a while now. The other female weretiger, Fara're had not been around for a while. A part of him wondered where she was. She always seemed to show up at the just the right moments to make his life more difficult.

He looked to Seregon as he said something about no turning back once they entered her. Nimahtor shrugged his muscular shoulders. "I've come this far," he said gruffly. "I don't see why I should turn back now. Lets just get this over with."

He hoped that they would be able to find this treasure quickly and get out before that demon showed back up. That demon used magic. And he hated magic.

"What kind of wizard would I be if I backed out on a chance to find such a powerful object, or at the very least backing out without solving the puzzle surrounding the demon and what he is all about? Besides I would never dream of depriving my friends when they needed me." Andras stepped to the edge of the lake and readied his magic in case there was a fight.

"Very well I am happy you are coming with me. Well lets see the end of this trip." He steped into the waters followed by the others in his group. He smiled it had been fun being with a group of people. Mabey he should rethink the entire lone mercenary thing. Oh well first the mission to complete. He moved further in and as the others followed they were soon in a bubble of air that was slowly moving down throught the watters. It was a beautiful sight been able to see clearly under the water. He saw the rays of the sun piercing the water and dispearing into the depths. He saw fish of all types and he eventualy saw the place they were heading. It looked like a group of spiky rocks and it looked they were going strait for them. He braced himself for an impact or the need to hold his breath, but it never came. They passed through what had turned out to be an illusion covering the entrace to a cave.

They continued through various underwater twists and turns that would make any excpet the best lose their sense of direction. After about an hour they surffaced into a small cave, with a pocket of air. There Séregon saw it. The object of his search. "Finnally!" He called out in excitement. A large intricatly carved box with with runes all over it and it had a low glow he could also see a passage that probably lead back up to the surface. He ran forward with the map and saw two indents he matched them with the two parts of the map and the lid oppened. Large amounts of gold, gems and items that may have been magical were to be seen. He searched in his excitement and found the five gems he was looking for as well as a fine sword. He would take this as part of his payment the rest could go to the others. He also noticed a strange stone tablet, but it seemed dull and didn't seem like it fit in this place. He decided it was better to take it then leave it. He waited for the others to search the treasure chest for what they wanted.

He noted the glow around the chest had stoped and the map had disapeared. He mubled "Magic, never makes sesnse." As they were about ready to leave he heard a voice. "Ah so you managed to find it. Thanks for leading me here. I have been stuck in this form far to long, now hand over the seal and I will kill you all quickly." The demon step out of the water entrance, he was glowing evil and the darkness of the cave seemed to be enhancing the power of the fell creature. The blade carried by the demon was dripping dark blood that was burning holes into the ground. The group was next to the other path, but who new how far the entrance was. "Time to go I don't want to fight that thing down here." Séregon moved backwards up the exit path keeping his guard up hopping they could make it back to the surface. This creature didn't like light and hopefully they could kill it if they got it out there.

Kaess watched in amazement as they passed through the lake. "This is unbelievable to image there was so much bellow the surface of the lake." He had never, been under water and it was beautiful. He watched the fish swim past and touched the buble. It was like a solid wall of force, but it seemed to strech just a little if a person pressed against it, but it never broke. He was so distracted by watching the underwater world that he didn't even notice the illusion and was unphased as they went through it. Given his normal sense of direction was horrible he was soon confused and was sure he could never find the way back out on his own.

When they surfaced he was a bit dizy from some of the more random turns, but was surprised as Séregon ran forward and oppened the chest. To himself he mumbled. "Glad there weren't any traps the over excitable fool." He then smiled and joined his friend in examining the treasure. He saw Séregon take a few things including a sword and a tablet. Kaess was not interested in treasure usually, but he saw a strange red stone. It looked like a perfect sphere and it called to some part of him. It some how didn't belong in this cold wet place. It probably would have felt more at home near a volcano was his feeling. He picked it up and felt a warth and it felt right to hold it. His dragon blood seemed to resonate with it a bit too in a relaxing way. He decided he would keep it. He took nothing else, because he didn't really need money.

We the demon apeared he readied himself to fight, but soon felt the aura of power off the demon. "I don't think any of us are going to die yet." he said in response to the demon. Something was wrong they couldn't fight this creature here. He didn't know why, but he was sure it was turned and backed up with Kaess still being ready for anything. It was soon aparent thanks to his draconic vision that the exit was only a few minutes away, but a heavy stone door was in the way. "Great we have to open a stone door to get out of here guys. Who wants to push and who wants to hold him off?"

Kyzarin was enjoying being underneath the lake. He had never been underwater like this before. "This is quite the place, isn't it? I never imagined when I joined this group that we would all end up down here." He also was getting to know the people of this group and had mostly overcome his shyness. He still had to wonder where the treasure. He had heard rumors about caves beneath this lake, but he had no way of being certain of their existence. I wonder if the treasure is on one of these caves under here?

Soon they made it into the cave and opened the treasure chest. So this was what this whole journey was all about. He didn't approve much of seeking treasure, but he decided to take something from the chest now that he was here. He saw a sparkling green gem and placed in a small belt pouch. Seconds later, he noticed the demon arrive. He pulled his bow off of his shoulder and shot the demon in the head. He then replied to Kaess: "I'll go and help with the door," and started walking in that direction, but still faced the demon, firing more arrows at it as he went.

Nireza walked through the lake with the rest of the group. This place is beautiful. It's at least as beautiful down here as it is above the lake. Hopefully the water deters that demon that's been following us. Somehow, she was aware that the demon was still following them and expected to be attacked again.

After walking under the lake for a little while, the group emerged into the cave. Nireza saw the treasure chest, but didn't know how to open it. She had never gotten around to learning how to pick locks well. She noticed, however, that Séregon seemed to know how to open the chest. Soon the chest was open and they were taking various objects from it. Nireza found a blade in it that seemed magical in nature and clipped it onto her belt, leaving it in its scabbard. She also grabbed several gems and a beautiful pendant and stuffed them into her belt pouch.

She was focused so much on the treasure that she didn't notice the demon until it spoke. She turned and pulled her wand from her belt. She stepped back a bit and fired one of her magic missiles at the demon, hitting it in the neck. She said, "I don't think I'd be of much help with opening the door, so I'll stay here and fight."

"I think those of you with the strength to push might be better served fighting, this door looks magiked. If you can give me some time to concentrate I should be able to figure out how to open it." Thinking back on the contents of the chest he remembered a seemingly simple parchment with markings very similar to the ones magically hidden on the door.

Gathering his courage the wizard cast barkskin on himself and began casting magic missile as he ran back to the chest. The demon noticed when he reached the chest but received a blast of magic missile. The spell didn't do much real damage but it was enough of a distraction to allow Andras to run back to the door with only a slight claw swipe on his barkskin.

Nimohtar had rushed forward using his swords to attack the demon trying to help how he could. He was frightened, but he needed to do somthing. He swiped at the deamon, but the evel being was too quick and side steped Nimohtar. The demons sword came across bashing Nimohtar's skull into the wall. The were-tiger managed to get up and continue the fight distracting the demon giving them a chance to open the door. Nimohtar could vaugley see Andras running past as the demon slashed out at the mage. The demon soon turned it's attention towards Nimohtar and grabed hold of the man ignoring attacks from the others concentrating on finishing one of the team.

(OOC: Nimohtar will die here.)

The demon looked a Nimohtar and stab his sword into his chest. The sword seemed to draw energy from Nimohtar. "Well one down little toys lets enjoy this game a bit more, shall we." His eyes glowed with helfire as he aproached the group. However Nimohtar continues to fight slowing the demon's advance down. The demon stabs him againd and tosses the body into the water far behind them. Andras runing up finds the parchment vanish before his eyes as the door glows and a surprised Séregon pushing on the rock suddenly pushes up suddenly and is blinded by the light as he imerges into the sun. He can hear the demon cursing as the rest of the party climbs to the light before the demon can catch up thanks to the effort of Nimohtar.

Séregon pulls his sword out and get ready to fight. He finds it a bit odd that he thought he heard a startled voice, when he opened the door that sounded familiar, but he can't see anyone now. The demon yells and starts moving again annoyed, but not stopped by the light of the sun.

Kaess watched as the brave young Nimohtar fought the demon, but in the tight spaces he couldn't help much. No fire spell seemed to work and even when he kicked the demon, it hadn't distracted the horible creature from it's prey. The demon seemed to strong down here. When the door opened he blinked and charged up into the sun knowing the creature was weaker in the light, he had seen it was too late for Nimohtar, but the rest of the group could still make it if they fought togeather. It would be tough, he almost wished Fara...... what ever her name was, was still here. "Come on people hurry up out of there we got to get him up here." As the last person made it outside and away from the exit the demon jumped out of the hole. He seemed to be angry, but the dark aura was being washed away in the sun. He advanced slowly on the party just growling in a feral way.

Nireza watched with surprise and horror as the demon killed the white weretiger, who she knew as Nimohtar, get killed by the demon, giving the rest of them time to escape. She stood her ground, far enough from the demon to avoid attacks and fired another magic missile at the demon, this time hitting it in the head. Moments later, she noticed that the opening above had opened and ran toward it. She didn't want to end up being behind the rest of the group. She ran into the sunlight, relieved to be out of the dark, enclosed cave. She didn't much like enclosed areas, preferring to be outdoors. She positioned herself behind the fighters, where she would be able to cast her spells without interference. She saw the demon emerge from the cave, and she struck it with a bolt of energy, which caught it in the chest.
