Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

David sighed a bit while walking up the giant mountain top. This mountain seemed different then the others. It was bigger, and wasn't capped by snow. Bertrade was trying to figure it out, but once he got to the top it became obvious. The gaping hole which was filled with steam, and what looked like lava. The place looked dead, but he wasn't planning on leaving. He was on the other hand planning to get away from the whole for the fear that he may fall in.

It was soon after the realization when he heard something. He quickly turned to figure out what it was, and awkwardly saw nothing. It appeared that he was hearing something. That or that something was big enough to hear beyond hindsight.

Adilla had moved through the baron landscape below him after he had been successfully routed from his home town. A horrible fire had ravaged through the town, wrecking everything and killing all of the residents, other than Pikel. He had lost his beautiful axe in the fire so as he traversed the mountain side all he had was a pitiful throwing axe and his woolen cape to keep him warm. His large body was able to move through the even the steepest inclines without much trouble so he soon found himself at the brim of the volcano.

He had came here to pay reverence to the natural beauty and the destructive nature of fire. It had ruined his life but after some deep contemplation, Pikel began to embrace the new beginning for him. Back in the secluded village, Adilla had been stuck behind a forge, crafting items that were devoid of talent but now he was off to wander the world. Now he could finally learn to be a druid he thought to himself as he stood on the lip of the volcano, staring down in it. Due to his deep concentration, he seemed to not even notice the other man.

Even though the giant didn't notice Bertrade, he more then defiantly noticed him. Looking up at him he said. "Hello, you're a big fellow, aren't you?" The man was in deed big, especially to his standers seeing in how he was only five foot two. The giant was big, but he wasn't as big as other giants he has seen. That must have meant he was a half giant, or of some other race.

Once he said this, he decided to give some advice, or at least a recommendation. "Hey, I was planning on getting out of this place. Never been a fan of things that can kill me." He said in a chuckle, then added. "So, I was planning to go a little farther down, so we aren't as close to this death trap."

The giant was so startled by the man, he literally tumbled into the volcano's mouth. He tumbled towards the lava as he attempted to scramble out before he hit the deadly liquid. Pikel grabbed his throwing axe and slammed it hard into the ground, ending his deadly fall. After a for more such maneuvers, Adilla found himself back on the edge of the volcano, sweat pouring down his body.

"Yes, I think I would like to move from precarious perch!" Adilla said with a smile, already moving away from the volcano's opening. He sat down on a small cliff where there was ample room for both him and the other man. He took of his sweltering cloak and laid his axe on top of it.

"So, what brings you to these parts?"

"What brings me to these parts?" He question, and then followed with a answer. "Well I've just been walking around. Searching for some interesting people." He answered truthfully, but was absent on a few details. Just as he answered his question, he threw one to the giant. "So, what brings you here?"

Once he was on the small platform he was amazed that this was still standing. I mean he was light, but the giant had to be at least a few hundred pounds. It didn't matter though, it wasn't as if anything bad could happen. I mean he was a decent fighter, and the giant had to be strong. It wasn't as if they weren't to high either. I mean it may be high enough to break a leg, but nothing too dangerous.

The giant mused over how he would answer the man's answer. He could elaborate how he figured destiny had thrown many things at him during the last few days or he could just end with a simple friendly comment. He mulled things over in his head for a little before he answered.

"I guess I am on a similar quest as you, trying to find a companion..." Pikel said staring off into the beautiful sunset. The heat from the volcano had died and the suns rays were beginning to wain so he donned his heavy wool cloak. He looked back at the small human and wondered if this man would accept him as an equal traveler, possibly enjoying his company enough to join him.

"So I might as well introduce myself," Pikel said quietly, gazing into the sun, "I am Adilla Pikel from the now burnt town of Terishnear. Who might you be?"

"Well, It's nice to meet you Adilla." He said sitting down upon the ground, and then added. "My name is Bertrade. Newly knighted under the holy order." He always enjoyed bragging about it. I mean to him it was a rather impressive feats. Others disagreed with him though.

"Trying to find a companion, you say?" He questioned. The funny little fact was Bertrade was looking to form a small group. Now it was a work in progress, but it could never hurt gaining a member here and there. With that thought in mind he said. "Well you are always welcome to come along with me. Its rather uninteresting, but your still welcome to come a long."

Adilla was surprised the the man was being so friendly with him, despite his obvious lineage with the gruesome and horrible giants that were rumored to still lurk in these parts. However, he mulled over the idea of joining the small little creature who seemed to be very pleased to be doing good for the world.

"Congratulation's on your knighting, Sir Bertrade," Pikel said with a small laugh, trying to be some what humorous. He took a few more moments to revise his course of action before accepting his offer.

"I will certainly follow along with you if you could help me regain something I have lost," Pikel said with a smile. He hoped he would accept the easy task of helping him regain his two-handed Axe, Leavran, and his beautifully crafted platemail. While it seemed easy, Pikel thought there might be more to the innocent fire that ruined his town.

It was a bit strange that he allowed him to enter the group, but instead of leaving it at that he asked something of him. Now, he was a nice enough guy so he would help him in this quest, but he wouldn't do it by himself. So, he looked at the giant, and said. "Very well, I'll help you with that. When should we start?"

While he was awaiting for the giant to answer, he readied himself by standing up, and dusting himself off. The whole thing seemed like an opportunity he couldn't pass up. Adding some extra muscle would definition make day to day activities a heck of a lot easier.

The giant was overly pleased that the man would help him with his tasks but he was wary that his town might be infested with something or more relevant, someone. The fire had swept through the city in a matter of minutes and had obliterated even stone buildings, not something that a simple forest fire would do. However, he kept this to himself for the time being figuring that he could protect his diminutive companion well enough.

"Yes, fallow me. My old town is only a few minutes from here," the gigas said to the other warrior that had already pulled himself up. The trek down the mountain was fairly easy thanks to a mountain goat path that ran itself right up the border of the town Pikel called home. Smoke still rose of the smoldering houses as the damage was still new.

"The armory where my weapon and armor is located is in the center of town," Adilla said, moving over the now burnt wood fence that had once blocked off trespassers. He readied his small throwing axe and motioned for the other man to do the same.

Walking down the mountain side he began to see a burnt village. He passed that on his way up, but didn't pay too much attention to it. It figured the giants weapons was inside that town. The giant began to speak, and it was sort of trivial seeing in how he was planning to fallow him anyways, but he figured he would answer anyways. "Alright, I'm not going anywhere."

Walking farther down the mountain side he could see how destroyed this mountain truly was, and that it would be difficult finding an axe. Luckily the giant knew where he was going. Just as he saw the smoke something struck him. If there was smoke then whatever caused it should be still there.

"The center of the town you say? Well that shouldn't take too long." Just as he said this another question arose. "So, what do you think will be down there, since you drew your weapon and all?" Even though he didn't know what was down there, he still drew his sword regardless.

Pikel winced slightly beneath his calm facade. He was hoping that nothing was left in the smoldering ruins but he had a feeling that they would be doing much more than just retrieving his weapons.
"I've got a feeling that something or someone is left over from the fire," Pikel said with a smile. As they entered the town square, Adilla noticed that the barracks weren't too badly harmed so he suspected his weapons and armor would still be in good shape. Just as he made for the doorway of the baracks, smoke enveloped the area, a vrock, a demon who utilizes his natural weapons such as his claws while also using a decent amount of fire magic, appeared in between Adilla and the warrior.

"I am sorry if this isn't exactly what you expected," Adilla cried before throwing his axe at the beast's stomach. The vrock quickly beat it's wings and pulled itself into the air before his throwing axe could do much damage. Pikel charged forward to regain his only weapon for the time being.

Bertrade looked over at the giant as he saw the vrock. This thing seemed to be dangerous, and guessing by the looks of the place it was the cause. Grabbing his sword he attempted to charge at the creature, but by then it was too late. He would have to take cover by whatever means. Quickly he jumped behind a small wall which was partially destroyed, but it was enough to shield him from any attacks. The odd thing was it didn't attack him. He looked up, and noticed it had a axe in its stomach. Maybe they could kill it.

He knew that they wouldn't be able to kill it when it was in the air, so they would have to bring it to the ground. He had a plan, but the giant would have to cooperate. "Hey, Pickel. Get ready to tackle this thing when it gets close to me." Once he said this he jumped out of the cover, and stood still. He hoped that the creature would come after him seeing in how he was a easy target.

Adilla heard the man and saw his rather bold movement. If the half giant wasn't able to bear the vrock to the ground, the brave warrior would be sliced open and killed. Luckily the vrock took the bate in it's greed, as it could have waited a few moments before blasting the human to death with it's fire magic, and just as it was about to tear the warrior's skin from his body, Pikel slammed the demon onto the ground. The bulk of his body weight was on top of the vrock so it was completly pinned other than the slight movement of his legs.

"Kill it now, this might be the only chance we get!," Pikel screamed above the vrock's cry. He surely hoped that the human would do something before the vrock was able to push Pikel off him. If not, Pikel would be severely damaged in the ensuing sequence and he doubted the human would be able to face off against the vrock by himself.

Looking at the creature who's neck was fully shown, and unprotected. He would have to take full advantage of this situation, and so he would. Taking his blade, and driving it into the creatures neck. He hoped this would work, because this may be his only chance.

After making the attempt to kill this creature Bertrade rolled backwards, and drew his shield, and waited to see if the thing was moving. If it did move then this battle would more then likely be very, very difficult, but seeing in how it more then likely would work it was in their favor.
