Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Lynx walked barefoot in the lush green grass. At least she thought it was green. It felt cool and dry beneath her feet, it smelt fresh and new, and it seemed like a perfect day. The sun was beating down hot on her head while the river next to her bubbled as she walked.

Today Lynx wore a simple light dress, she didn't actually know the color but she thought it was blue. In fact it was, a light eggshell blue that set off her hair and clouded eyes. Her hair was left to flow down her back, and the wind occassionally picked up a few strands and blew them about her face. She didn't even bother to brush them away.

She didn't hum as she walked, in fact she made no sound at all. She seemed to float over the grass, just listening to the sound of the nature around her. The trickle of the water, the wind through the grass. She knew that if she just kept following the river she'd eventually get to the lake, but she found she didn't really want to get there anytime soon. She slowed her walk down and drifted a little farther from the river starting to hum as she went.

Zwei was bathing, or was bathing, he had finished actually and was just getting dressed when he saw her. She was something out of a romance novel for sure, his mind msut have been playing tricks on him. His next thought was to slip his mask and faceplate on. He do so quickly, just incase she was an assassin after him, he HAD pissed off more than a few people so it could be likely, very likely. He moved slowly, cautiously, he approached her and questioned, "Who are you?" he was ready to draw his weapon but from her looks...eh...actually looks could be deceiving.

Lynx heard him move up to her but she simply stopped and faced him. She listened to him approach. "People call me Lynx." She smiled at him. In a good mood this morning as the heat caressed her. "Who are you?" Her ears flicked, the blind's equivilant of looking around. She could sense his tension and so smiled again to try and relieve it.

Zwei breathed a sigh of relief, "I am Zwei' he looked at her curiously, it was as if..."My god, you're blind aren't you?" he suddenly felt a rush of pitty and a need to help her now. He walked gently over to her and stood at her side. "I am truly sorry that a pretty girl like yourself has been stricken with such a cursed fate. It is always the ones who do not deserve misfortune that are often visited by it" he sighed.

Lynx shifted her weight uncomfortably from foot to foot, unsure just how to react to this newcomer. She wanted to snap at him that she was fine and didn't need a stranger's pity, but another part of her wanted to melt into the background. She had never really felt uncomfortable before, but then again no one had outright told her she was blind. "Uh well... Yes I am. And I've lived with it all my life so it's not like I've lost anything since I never had it in the first place." Silently she thought about the ones who didn't deserve misfortune and wondered if she really was among them. But the thought was quickly gone. "So Zwei... What brings you to the river?"

"Oh where are my manners, I forgot to properly great a fine young women like yourself" lower his face mask just enough so his mouth was visible he took Lynx's hand and kissed it before raising his mask again. "I was...bathing till I saw you and though I had myself an assassin after me again, it seems to be my curse lately to incur the wrath of the Fist of Shadows assassins guild to which I use to belong to" he sighed and looked into her eyes again and smiled, "If you don't mind me saying so you are quite beautiful, I'd go as far as to say you are quite possibly the most beautiful young women I have ever laid eyes upon" and he was being serious when he said that which made it all the more flattering as his voice was laced with sincerity. "So what brings YOU to the river?"

Lynx smiled at the sincerity in Zwei's voice as he told her she was beautiful. She would have blushed if she was any other girl. But work hardened all and so she merely let the smile suffice.

"I was just enjoying the sound of the water against the rocks, the taste of the air, and the feel so the wind on my skin." Lynx started to walk again, leaving the invite for Zwei to follow open. She moved silently at first and then spoke again.

"Even though I can't see and I hate water, nothing is more beautiful that the sound, taste, scent, and touch of the world by the river."

Like Zwei would let such a pretty girl to walk with no one to accompany her. So indeed he did follow her and listened to her words. She had a very pretty voice, she was pretty, and he could already sense that inside she was pretty too, though he would say no more to compliments, the one would suffice for now. "I agree with you, this place is so beautiful, I was actually on my way to explore the crystal caves for a bit before I decided to stop and bathe here and then you came along. I wholly agree that in this world there is no more beautiful place than the Memphian Falls" he smiled again under his face mask and almost reached out to touch the girls cheek. She looked soft and inviting but something told him that this girl was far more dangerous than she looked.

Everything had been going fine, terrifically actually, well, that was until he saw her... again. He stopped in his tracks between two trees. The sound of the calm river floated to his ears. His eyes were wide with fear, and how he wanted to turn and just run,but his curiosity was stronger then his fear. He looked at the man who accompanied her and he was slightly worried for a moment, but he always told himself that Lynx could easily take care of herself, she was an assassin after all, though, he still had a doubt how she did anything in her blind state.

He pushed his fear to the back of his mind as he made his way towards the neko and the person who appeared to be a human, but he had a mask. He turned his black eyes to Lynx again, and they held a almost fearful look in them.

"This is the last place I expected to find you, Lynx... trying to figure out why I'm here..." He mumbled the last part.

He looked his regular self, though,he seemed to stick out, as today he wore all black clothing. His long black hair was loose like usual, and often fell over his black eyes as he watched them. He stopped a short distance away from the two, and he folded his arms, not knowing what to make of the human.

“Cyrstal Caves?” Lynx thought about it. “I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of them.” But then again that wasn’t a surprise her job required her to be in the city most of the time, and she rarely focused on much other than the job at hand. After when she could relax she turned off her senses and just melted into the enjoyment of a job-well-done and a few hours of nothing.

She heard a sound and her ears flicked in that direction catching a familiar voice. A smile played about her lips then, coy and mischievous, much like a cat about to knock over the jug of milk, or tear apart the perfectly set up flower vase. She approached him but didn’t pull her usual tricks. It was more fun alone, and she wasn’t one to embarrass people.

“Perhaps you can’t resist my cat-like charm,” Lynx purred the words, knowing even that might make him fidget. But it was all in good fun… for her at least. Lynx didn’t pretend to speak for Tom. Especially since he would probably be the one to disagree strongly. “I’m here because it is the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.”

And then she remembered herself.

“Oh how rude. Tom this is Zwei. Zwei, Tom.”

Zwei's hand shot to his blade when the newcomer arrived but when Lynx introduced him his hand relaxed and he sighed. "Nice to, uh, meet you Tom" he didn't extend his hand and wouldn't lest it be chopped off both figuratively and literally. Already he didn't trust this man, something about him rubbed him the wrong way but if he was a friend of Lynx's...

No, he didn't know the girl enough to rule out the possibility that this was an elaborate trap. and thus he'd be on his guard. Still the girl was pretty but he could not sense her alignment, he really wish he'd picked up that spell in his journeys.

He flinched slightly as she come towards him, and he almost expecting to pull her usual tricks, just to frighten him, but she didn't, but he still didn't like her smile. He cringe slightly from her.

“Perhaps you can’t resist my cat-like charm,”

He laughed uneasily. "Oh believe me I can..." He grumbled. She was as freaky as hell, the ears, the tail, all her cat-like features scared him, they weren't right. He shifted slightly, then looked at Zwei as Lynx introduced them. He nodded his head slightly in greeting.

"Pleasure to meet you, sir Zwei." Thomas said, a slight grin flitting across his pale face. He glanced at the sky a moment, before returning his dark red eyes to Lynx and Zwei, and smiled.

"You can relax, I'm not going to try and slice your throat..." He said. He wasn't worried about the fact that the man might try and attack him, Tom was after all a vampire and not many people knew, and not much could hurt him, unless they knew his secret and knew where to hit for any type of killing blow.

She sensed, not only Tom’s tension towards her but also Zwei’s tension towards the two of them. She wondered briefly if she should interfere so that a brawl didn’t break out in her midst. But they seemed to work themselves out and she walked over to Zwei and touched his sword arm.

“Relax” She whispered “It’s a beautiful day,” She dropped her hand from his arm and walked back over to the riverside.

“I haven’t run into while I’ve been working in awhile Tom, avoiding me for any… reason?” Oh how tempted she was to meow at that moment, to wrap her tail around his leg and purr. Poor Tom. Poor me, company expects me to act like a lady and so I must… I suppose … how boring.

Another thing she had to avoid was the water, the fear she had of it, she just knew Tom would use it against her should he ever find out. She backed away and went over to Tom, slipping a hand through his arm. Lady-like and fearfully close. It would have to do.

“So Zwei what do you do for a living?”

That was a dangerous question to ask of him, yet these could be good customers, they hadn't made any movements to kill him so he supposed he could trust them. "If you must know...I am an informant, I make my living buying and selling information. Someone who knows everything and yet nothing, I wont rest until my clients get the knowledge they seek, I...also use to be an assassin but I put those days behind me when I donned this mask" he adjusted his face mask.

“I haven’t run into while I’ve been working in awhile Tom, avoiding me for any… reason?”

He looked at Lynx, and took a step back, as if knowing what she wanted, and his eyes flashed fearfully a moment as he braced himself, but then remember the other man there was, and he let out a silent breath of relief. She wouldn't do anything mean right now, not unless this Zwei left.

"How could I avoid you, dear Lynx?" He growled. How come he had to go for a small vacation today? Why did he have to come this way? Why didn't he just go to a populated place and find something to eat?He grumbled something to himself and looked down, but when he heard Lynx make her way towards him, he went almost rigid, and held his breath, as if he had any need to breath.

He wondered why he wasn't used to her always putting her hand around his arm, she had done it often before, maybe it was just the closeness of her catness that got him. He sighed, and tried to ignore it as best he could, and focused on what Zwei was saying, and Tom frowned.

"An informant? Sounds boring. I prefer the life of a thief, much more excited. And Lynx, remind me not to spout off any of my little secrets, in case he gets nice little client who wants me dead, last thing I want is more people to know them." He said, in more of a grumble.
