Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Lynthaer smiled as he watched the sky. He knew of Aether's teleporting ability ability. Like his own, it created a gateway through planes, or so he thought. He could walk through flame and teleport if need be, and he knew that she had a knack for materializing out of the shadows. However, her accepting his offer meant that he was forgiven. Or he hoped so at least. Slowly, he began to will his core down to a reasonable temperature. No need to roast AD while she rode.

"Well, the sun is still far from rising, and I believe I can beat the damnable thing to Cascadia. If not...I can probably find another way back from death. Wasn't too hard the last time." Death was not that frightening any way. Plus, if it came to that, he would warn Aether. She would no doubt be able to transport her self to Cascadia from that point, and Lynthaer could enter the Plane of Fire and search for a place sheltered from the suns light.

Smiling, he knelt down, and put his hands on the ground as if he was swearing allegiance. Facing Aether, he nodded. "Hop on, and we'll see exactly how fast the sun can go."

Aether Draka shook her head at his reference to the sun's light. "I wouldn't worry about the sun Lynthaer." She grinned at him. "I have a good spell that grants a darkness even the sun's light can't penetrate." AD assured him as she took those few steps between him and her. Without any hesitation, she did as he asked. He was still warm to the touch, but not hot.

It made her feel better and more sure of herself to know that he was back and that he knew what was happening. The last thing she wanted was for something to happen simply because he had been unaware. AD braced herself for him taking flight, the feeling of his wing beats, even if he was undead, was still raw power. In her mind, he would always be more powerful just because of that one fact. Just like he would remain her best friend because he had never once harmed her. She didn't think to bring up her thoughts on his demonic infusion or her own demonic side surfacing while he was gone, and she didn't recall at that time in order to tell him it had been her who had spared the library from destruction. They were things that hadn’t come to mind after all.

"Welcome back Lynthaer." she said softly, more to herself then to him, but there was little doubt that he had heard her.

Lynthaer waited patiently as Aether clambered up his back. The fact that she had spells to shield was comforting, but he would still fly fast. He had not flown through clean air for months, on the rancid air of. He heard AD when she spoke, and his smile grew wider. It felt good to be welcomed back into a world where he did not have to make people fear him, where most who knew of him already did.

He felt AD adjust herself, and felt her tensing. At that, Lynthaer commanded own muscle to contract, raising his wings, and bringing him to a crouch. Then, in a fluid motion lasting fractions of a second, Lynthaer beat his wings down and launched himself upward. The ground fell away as Lynth continuously pounded his wings, driving himself upward, against the pull of the earth. His eyes shined brighter, and he had put out a little extra effort to keep his core down, as not to cook his passenger. The air was cool, and continued to cool as he rose higher. When he finally reached an altitude at which he could comfortably fly, he leveled his body off, becoming parallel with the ground below.

Wind in his face, Lynthaer looked towards the horizon...and quickly realized he had lost his sense of direction in his stay in the abyss. Chuckling, he called out to AD. "My apologies, but I seem to have forgotten which way Cascadia lies. Would you mind steering me a bit?"

She felt her heart leap as Lynthaer did and the power behind his wing beats made her catch her breath, like it did from the first time. Flight, the defiance of the earth itself. She closed her eyes as they passed above the mists. Looking down she saw the hills of mist spread out below them like a thick blanket. She looked up to the sky next. The stars here were so very different then the ones she grew up with, but she had been in Imythess long enough to find the north star. She smiled when she found it and shook her head. Just because she knew where to find the north star didn’t mean that she knew how to get to Cascadia from here. She reached in her pouch for Turin and the tiny fly dragon flew out, already awake.

“We are heading to Cascadia. What’s the best way from here Turin?” She asked the fly dragon. The small creature zipped around them to get his bearings. Then the little copper colored fly dragon zipped off in one direction. Less then a moment later he zipped back and told them both telepathically. “Yep! It’s this way to Cascadia!” He then zipped off that way again, at a speed that Lynthaer could easily follow. “He said it’s that way.” AD said, pointing after Turin because she didn’t know that he had spoken to both of them.
