Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Acquiring Gold

You earn gold by posting. You receive 5 gold for every in-character post you make.

Buying for Yourself

Each item has a layout like this:

IconNameDescriptionPricing
Posted ImageRopeThis is good, sturdy rope. Don't leave home without some!
RPer15
IRPer15
ARPer10
ERPer10
Selling5

The price you pay depends on which role-player status you are at (RPer / IRPer / ARPer / ERPer), and you must have at least that amount of gold to buy it.

To make your actual purchase, you must go to The Sales Counter and make a new topic there, saying what you want to buy using the mandatory format.

As soon as possible, a staff member will then subtract the gold from your gold count and then add the item to your signature or inventory topic. Do not add the item in your signature or inventory yourself.

Buying for Others

The process for buying for others is the same as buying for yourself, but there is a special clause with the pricing because of RPer Levels.

If you are buying an item for someone else, you must buy it using the price listed for their RPer level. You cannot swap your gold and items around between different people's accounts for purchasing in order to give someone a discount that they have not earned. This is to prevent abuse of the system. The only exceptions are:
  • When it is a birthday or Christmas gift, then you may buy it for them at whichever price is lower: your RPer level or theirs.
  • You have an item that you don't want anymore, etc

Selling

If there is an item in your inventory that you no longer want, you can sell it. It works a lot like the buying process. In each item display at the shops, there is a selling price listed below the buying prices. Usually, the selling price is half of the buying price.

To make the sale, you must post again at The Sales Counter and state what you want to sell using the mandatory format.

A staff member will then add the correct amount of gold to your total and then remove it from your inventory/signature. Please do not remove any items yourself.

Auctioning / Trading

As an alternative to selling your items back to the shops you may also auction them off to other members, which may earn you more gold than what you would receive from the sell back price in the shops. You can do this by starting a topic in the Auctions & Member Sales forum to garner interest. If people commit to buying your items, you can then make an officiall exchange topic in the Sales Counter.
