Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Kari laughed heartily. 'We'd better not laugh too loudly, before we know it could happen to us.' She opened the door and stepped into the hall again. Selena sat on the table now, pretending to be interested in the priest's never-ending stories. |

Kari, Renate and Selena walked outside with a glad expression on their faces. They had finally been able to escape from priest Oldacaough's tales, and had just some time to wander through the beautiful forest before dark. Kari studied the many creatures and plants, and inhaled the cool air. That felt good. She loved being outside, although she tended to stay inside most of the time. The soft rustling of leaves suddenly startled her. She stood still, so that the others bumped into her. 'What was that?' she said suspiciously, pricking up her ears. |

Kari followed Renate closely, curious but anxious as she was. What if it was Myssandra? What if the evil hag had come to fight her, now she was completely unprepared? Her heart made a massive jump when her eye caught a flash of light somewhere in the trees, but it disappeared as quickly as it had come. 'What the...' she whispered. She touched the dagger on her belt and was pleased to see it was still there. Just in case... |

'Hey! I heard that!' Selena said as she peeked around the corner. 'I'd rather die a thousand deaths than to spend my, then relatively short life, with that discicable, boring, old man. Really, all he does is talk!' She frowned and bit her lip. 'While you were gone he was at it again about that mill owner! It is horrible!' Renate and Kari laughed loudly. Selena gasped. 'No! Don't laugh! It is terrible!' She put her hands on her hips, admitting she could do nothing but smile. It WAS funny. 'Okay, so it IS funny. But it is also serious. Very, very serious. Really, I sometimes sit next to him, the buzzing sound of his voice going on and on and on numbing my ears, wondering if maybe he's senile. That COULD be it you know!' Now her friends really couldn't stop laughing. 'You are sooo bad!' Kari laughed, nearly tumbling over. 'Don't let priest Albacough hear you talking about him like that. He might make you...say some prayers as a punishment!' 'Oh, scary!' Renate joked. Selena rolled her eyes. 'I may be bad at times. But you two are completely insane!' Kari scoffed. 'Yes, right. Now look who's talking!' |

Kari was startled by her words and almost made a jump. She quickly hushed Selena and stopped Renate. 'There's someone in here,' she whispered. 'We need to find out who it is. Perhaps an enemy of some sort.' |

Renate removed her sword from its sheath and held it in front of her, ready to use it against an enemy. Then a girl appeared. Renate dropped her sword. She knew that girl. It was her friend, Selena! 'Selena! It's you!' she shouted, enthusiastically. Kari looked at the girl with a puzzled expression. 'Selena Starling?' she said, still not sure how the girl got there. 'I thought you were in Lestranya,' she remarked. 'I was for a while, but I wanted to visit you. I have to say I didn't expect to see Renate here too.' 'How do you know each other? I just met Renate a few days ago,' Kari said. 'We met at school. We grew up in the same neighbourhood,' Renate explained and gave Selena a hug. |
