| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Lady Renate Villerius wanders through the forest. She is fascinated by the trees and flowers that surround her. Maybe it was because she was an elf. Maybe she just felt at home in the forest, she didn't know. But she liked visiting Norwood forest. It made her feel calm. Suddenly she heard something above her. She looked up, ready to attack an enemy. But there was no enemy. She saw a huge castle floating in the air. When she looked closely she noticed it was built in a huge tree. Renate decided to visit the castle and started climbing. |

Kari Firestone was just looking over the vast woods that belonged to her host's kingdom when she suddenly heard a noise. She was immediately torn away from her fantasy, as she heard scraping sounds right beneath her. She bend her back to see what was there, and noticed an elf climbing towards her, using the branches in the tree to make her way upwards. Kari felt afraid for a moment, not knowing what to do. Her host had gone to the village to buy some new supplies together with her servants, and had allowed Kari to stay at the castle to wander around a bit, to explore the new world she was in. There were no guards to call, no heavy armoured men to help her. She wanted to scream, but couldn't. Instead of that, she tried her talk-to-the-enemy-strategy and looked down and waved to the elf, trying to draw her attention. |

Renate was still climbing when she suddenly saw a figure standing close to the castle. It was a girl. And she was waving at her. Renate was surprised. Why was she waving at her? She frowned and continued climbing. She got to the top and the girl helped her get up.'Hello. My name is Lady Renate Villerius. I am an elf from a small town close to the forest. Who are you?' The girl smiled at her. 'I am Kari Firestone. I am a mage. My uncle owns this castle and he wanted me to guard it for him. He's not present. He's buying new supplies in town,' she explained. Renate nodded. Kari seemed very nice. She had long, dark curly hair en dark-brown eyes. You could tell she wasn't an elf. |

'You aren't an enemy, right?' Kari continued, studying Renate's face. She was a pretty Elf, like most of them, and sure looked nice enough to be friendly to. Plus she was a Lady, Ladies didn't rob neighbour castles... Kari looked around, not sure about what to do now. Inviting Renate into the castle would be a proper thing to do, but she wasn't sure if her uncle would agree with that. 'Would you like to come in?' Kari asked, pointing at the stairs leading to the lower level. 'It's much nicer inside than up here, I could give you a drink, if you wish.' |

Renate smiled. The mage was very nice. 'Yes, I would like that,' she replied and followed Kari inside. The castle was very pretty. It was purple and yellow-coloured inside. Kari entered a large room and Renate followed her, while still looking around. She was impressed. This was definitely the most beautiful castle she had ever seen. The room they entered reminded Renate of the stories she had heard about King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table. Kari sat down at the round table and Renate sat beside her. A man made it's way across the room. Renate hadn't even seen him come in. 'Our guest, Lady Villerius would like something to drink,' Kari told the man, who was clearly a servant. 'Would you like something too, ma'am?' he asked her. She nodded and the servant disappeared. |

'So...' Kari asked curiously. 'What are you doing here in the forest? I don't often see many Elves around here.' The servant came back in and gave them both a nice cool drink. 'Thanks, Derwyn,' Kari said. He bowed quickly and left again. Renate was just about replying to Kari's answer, when their conversation was again interrupted, this time by a little girl with raven black hair and green eyes. She looked very cute as she ran towards the round table and jumped onto Kari's lap. Kari smiled and hugged her. 'Neith, good to see you. I want to introduce you to someone.' Neith stepped onto the floor again and looked up into the face of the stranger. 'This is Lady Renate Villerius, please welcome her.' The little girl placed her right foot in front of her, waved her right arm just before her belly and bowed politely. 'Welcome, my Lady. My name is Neith Skuld Winterhaven, nice to meet you.' Kari noticed Renate was quite surprised of this welcome, and explained: 'Neith is my cousin, my uncle's daughter. Isn't she a cute little princess?' |

'She sure is,' Renate said. 'Nice to meet you too, Neith.' The girl was charming. She certainly never met a girl called Neith before. 'Anyway, I was just strolling through the forest when I noticed your castle. It looked so lovely, I simply had to see it up close. It is a beautiful place. Have you lived here all your life?' she asked Kari. |

Kari shook her head, and her good mood suddenly seemed to disappear. Renate knew she had asked the wrong question. 'No, I lived in the Land of Light first,' Kari said, wrenching her hands. 'With my parents. But they... died. I mean... they were... murdered. By an evil hag called Myssandra Ytarimus. She is a Dark Sorceress.' Renate shivered at hearing the word 'dark sorceress'. It was best not to meddle with one of them! 'She wanted to kill me, because of a sort of promised thingie, I am naturally gifted with the power of Light, so she wanted to kill me, but she couldn't and killed my parents instead. They were locked up in the house while the fire burned them alive... But my granny saved me, I was just a toddler then.. I lived with her for a while, until Myssandra killed her too... I'm a curse to everyone..' Renate raised her hands. 'No, you're not! You can't help it! Dark Sorcerers are the worst badguys in our history!' Kari smiled now. 'Ah, well... My uncle took me in from that day, and I've been save to everyone since. But I did get a guardian, an Adept to teach me all about magic.' |

Selena Starling entered the room. Neith ran towards her and gave her a hug. 'Off to bed with you,' Selena said and sat down next to Kari. 'We have a visitor,' Kari informed her. 'So I see,' Selena said and looked at Renate. She observed her for a while. 'Well, it least she's an elf. All these bloody humans that have been bothering us lately...I just got rid of a bunch of them,' she said grinning victoriously. |

'Mind your language,' Kari said under her breath, but she smiled too. 'Renate, this is my other cousin, Neith's sister Selena. She's been bothered a lot by humans lately...' Selena laughed and smashed her fist on the table. 'That's right, those... ah, well. I have to mind my language while Neith is here.' She smiled angelically at the little child. 'Time to go to bed, though.' Neith put up a sulky face. 'Oh, no Selly, I dun wanna! It's still light!' Selena hushed and forced the child to go upstairs, then returned to the round table and ordered her own drink from the servant. |

Renate smiled. Most elves didn't like humans. She wondered why. Most elves were quite stuck-up though. Especially the sun elves. She wasn't like that. She had many human friends. She had even dated a wizard. She was thrown out of her clan's castle for that. But it had been worth it. Without that experience she still woud have been as narrow-minded as all other elves. Selena and Neith left the room. 'Would you like to stay for dinner?' Kari asked. 'Sure! I'd love to,' Renate said and she felt like she was amongst friends for the first time of her life. She had always felt a bit uncomfortable with her former clan. |

Kari stood up and asked the servant to prepare a meal, after which she showed Renate the castle a bit. 'This is my room,' she said, pointing into a cosy little room. It was nicely decorated with a lot of flowers and paintings and in the centre stood a beautiful four post bed, covered with a silk veil. Renate raised an eyebrow. This was quite different from the place she had lived when she still was with her clan. It had been beautiful, yes, but this was a princess' room. Kari paced about the room and looked out of the window that viewed the woods below. |

'Your room is quite beaufiful,' Renate said, still impressed. 'Is my room like this as well?' she asked, curious. Kari smiled at her. 'Yes, of course. Visitors always get the best rooms, you know. It's a way of showing them you respect them. And I certainly respect you.' |

She smiled when Renate watched her full of surprise. 'I always do. It's never good to act aggressive or mean towards strangers. You have to stay polite and friendly. But I will show you your room now, it's getting dark soon and if we're ready after diner it's bedtime.' |

Renate was very curious about her room and she followed Kari quickly. They walked through a long hallway and Kari opened the door at the end. They entered the room. It was a lovely room. The walls were bordeaux-coloured and the bed was fit for a queen. The ceiling was covered with angelic paintings and the windows were round and made of a pretty dark wood. Renate looked outside and enjoyed the view. She saw the lake and the forest. Animals were passing by and Kari stood beside her. They listened to the birds sing and noticed the sky was darkening. It was getting late. 'We'd better have dinner now. It's 7 o'clock already. Do you like your room?' Kari enquired. 'Yes, I do. It's lovely. I don't want to leave ever again,' she said grinning. Kari smiled. 'I'm glad.' They left the room and walked downstairs. The count and countess arrived and greeted their visitor. The count was an ugly, fat man and he stared at Renate arrogantly. The countess was a beautiful, young woman. She reminded Renate of a goddess and she couldn't imagine why a girl like her would marry an ugly man like the count. Kari saw Renate her puzzled look and knew what she was thinking. She had always wondered the same thing and she suspected everyone else did too. |
