| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Silent forest, somewhere nearest the hour of midnight. The forest was completely quiet, until soft footsteps began making their way along the dirt path. The bearer of these footsteps always tread lightly, for no reason other than it was simply 'her way'. This particular wanderer went by the name of Pheonix, a name she'd dubbed herself, since no one else seemed to care for her enough to give her a title. No normal life this young woman had, then again she wasn't quite normal herself. Her wolfish ears twitch at the fast, incoming appraoch of other footsteps. But Pheonix listened carefully, realizing that those footfalls were being made by a four-legged beast. Pheonix stretched her wings for a second, then quickly folded them as her tail entwined itself around her thiegh. Pheonix took a step backwards, as something walked from under the cover of brush. She crouched, eyeing the creature with suspicion. It was a wolf, simply one of those wild creatures of the forest. The animal in turn cocked its head sideways in confusing at Pheonix's scent. To the animal, Pheonix seemed utterly strange; smelled like both human (which the wolf feared) and something of it's own kind. The wild canine didn't run, it was too confused upon whether or not this bi-ped being was a threat. Pheonix knelt, catching the wolf's gaze with her eyes that were the same golden color as the canine's. Pheonix moved to a sitting position, as her tail untwined from her thiegh and curled around her. She extended her hand, palm upwards; in a gesture of the fact she was no harm to this wild one. |

'Great...another forest...' Lance thought somewhat disdainfully to himself. Why did it always have to be forests? That's where he always seemed to end up, another forest. It was getting exhausting. But still, he had to admit that plenty of things had happened to him while he was wandering around in a forest, the most important one of which was stumbling onto the temple of night, and the goddess Laoura, ruler of Imythess. Aside from that, however, there wasn't really much to say. As he walked along, though, he heard the footsteps of what seemed to be a four-legged animal, clearly another native creature to the outside world. Having nothing better to do, he went over to see what the source of it was, hiding in the shadows when he spotted a canine and a rather strange-looking girl. He didn't feel like revealing himself yet...not until he was sure that he wouldn't arouse any hostilities. |

The wolf flinched, and ran off to the opposite direction. It either heard or smelled the other, and fled. Pheonix shook her head and stood, peering into the shadows. She listened for a moment, then finally decided that whoever it was probably wasn't much of a threat. After all, they hadn't attacked her yet so Pheonix thought of that as a good sign. She turned, and leaned against the solid trunk of one of the many trees. She eventually grew bored with the matter and took the first action herself. "Whoever you are, out there. No need to hide within the confines of shadow like that. Go ahead and show yourself. I won't bite ... or anything." The last was said with more than just a hint of sarcasim. |

Lance watched the wolf run off, probably having fled from the scent of a demon, and shrugged to himself. That was the reaction he'd so often gotten when he'd left the Underworld in favor of the outside world...that is, when he'd been booted from the Underworld. Therefore, he didn't let it bother him at all. No point worrying about things that can't be changed, as he liked to think. When the strange-looking girl seemed to call out to him, he shrugged to himself again, getting up from against a tree he was leaning back on and stepping out of the shadows. "Hardly worried about that sort of thing...more about receiving unwarranted resentment, which I seem to so often get." |

"'Unwarranted resentment' ... Yeah, I know how that goes." She said with a shrug, she'd experienced such quite often. Though for her it was based upon appearances and not what she actually was. Then again, no one really knew what she was so Pheonix never dwelled upon it. "Heh. Anyways the name's Pheonix. I'm what I guess would be called lost. ... " She spoke with a soft hint of laughter to her tone, never being one to let such things get her down. She really didn't care actually, as she wasn't on her way to anyplace in particular. Pheonix simply wandered to wherever her feet lead her, always being a sort of restless spirit. She never once stopped to worry about trival matters such as location and whatnot. |

Lance nodded in understanding, having assumed this first comment...after all, even he wasn't really sure what he was, and he was somewhat of an expert on strange, magical, or unusual creatures. So it was only natural that others would distrust or resent her because of her appearances. He then chuckled softly and nodded at this second comment, rarely becoming lost himself, if only because he'd been just about everywhere and thus had a good sense of direction. "Well, name's Lance...and if you need to get somewhere in particular, go ahead and ask." |

Pheonix laughed softly and shook her head. She didn't know anything about this place, so she wasn't looking for anywhere in particular. "Heh, thanks for the offer. But I'm not really going anyplace in particular at the moment. I just arrived in this here forest not too long ago." Pheonix usually seemed to get herself lost quite often. But on the other hand, if she wasn't going to anywhere in particular; then maybe she wasn't so lost as she thought she was. |

Lance nodded in understanding...made sense enough to him. After all, that's basically how he was whenever he ended up in some new place...for that matter, he never really was going anywhere in particular at any certain time. That was the benefit of being a wanderer, he supposed. "Well, makes sense enough to me, that's basically how I live my life." |

"Ell ... at least it makes sense to somebody" Many of the people Pheonix had met didn't quite understand her way of life. Then again, Pheonix didn't understand their's. But Pheonix enjoyed her solitary traveling, and couldn't think of living another way. "So, did you come here on purpose or is this just another random travel?" |

Lance chuckled softly, and shrugged. "No real reason for coming here, basically just ended up here once again...I tend to get lost in thought a lot, and when I do, I always seem to end up somewhere far from where I remember being," he said truthfully. But then, that was also how he'd met a lot of his current friends. |

Pheonix gave another shrug, she'd been to many strange places in her life. Where she came from, there weren't many forest about, everything had been taken over by the so-called civilization. But once she'd left that place, she came across many other lands that weren't as heavily populated. And now, to her this forest was like any other. "I suppose, as they say, no one knows what paths fate lays before us." She paused for a moment, wondering exactly who this 'they' was that people always talked about. She shook her head briefly, "Anyways. I just keep wandering whatever paths I come across. No use trying to stop it, after all." |

Lance nodded in agreement with these comments, that basically being how he lived his life...constantly wandering, not caring much for what others thought of him. "That's definitely true, I must say. But as for me, I really have nothing to do but wander, considering I haven't a home, or any place to really stay for an extended period of time," he said, and shrugged slightly. "Not that it matters to me, of course." |

"They say that home is where the heart is. So a home is not necessarily a dwelling or house persay. It s wherever you feel like ... home." Pheonix surveyed the landscape again, trying to think of where she wanted to go next. Though it really didn't matter. Finally, she pushed away from the tree. She stretched, hands behind her head. Then leaned back again. "Personally I have found that an actual home in the literal sense is very much overrated." |

Lance shrugged slightly at each of these comments, once again leaning back against a tree as he had been earlier, looking around a bit simply out of habit. "Maybe...but as much as I'm alone most of the time, I'd much prefer having others around. It's just...more comforting, I suppose I could say." |

Pheonix nodded, "I get that ... Though I've never really had any 'good friends' myself. Then again, I used to be sort of an unreliable person." She laughed softly, at some joke only she knew. She shook her head, clearing the thought away. It wasn't of any importance after all. "But there's always a chance to start anew. Which is why I came to these lands. Besides the fact that I'm always into exploring new surroundings." |
