Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

The wandering demon

Lance had been walking for quite a while now, and was getting rather exhausted at this point. That was practically all he did...walk somewhere. He rarely did anything but that. It was a dull life, he had to admit, but he was a demon, not one to stay in one place for very long. But still, he'd begun to wish that he could do just that...stay in the same place for a while, and get some much-needed rest. For now, however, all he could really do was wander.

A large eagle circled higher up in the sky but after a moment he dived down, aiming for Lance. Isithradia stepped out of one of the nearby houses with a yawn. Her clothes were nice and new, a gift from the old lady who lived there. When she saw the eagle diving at Lance, she yelped and started forward. "Normir! No, leave him alone!" She called out, causing the eagle to pull out of his dive and lazily circle above them. "Sorry," she finally said to Lance, eyeing him curiously.

Lance looked up to the eagle in curiosity, wondering why it seemed to suddenly dive at him...usually he was on good terms with animals, so to speak. But then, his demon nature was rising somewhat at the moment due to his current thoughts...so that was probably why. Before the eagle reached him, though, he heard a voice shout out, which caused it to stop...must've been its owner, or companion, or whatever it would be called...he wasn't sure. Looking over to the girl that had called out and stopped the eagle, he shrugged slightly, not really minding. "Don't worry about it, I'm sure the eagle had its reasons..." he said.

Adia looked up, eyeing the eagle thougthfully before doing the same to Lance. After a moment, she shook her head. "I doubt it, Normir has a tendency to dive at random people." She shrugged, but this other was different from most people which fed her already growing curiosity. "Why are you just walking around?"

Lance shrugged slightly. "Suppose so...I wouldn't really know, don't know all that much about creatures out here," he admitted. After all, he was a demon who'd only been to the outer world for a somewhat short time...so, naturally, he was still learning things about it. Truthfully, he knew a good deal about magical beasts, and other creatures of the darkness, but his knowledge just about ended there. "But anyway, I walk around a lot...never really do much else, truthfully."

"Why?" She asked curiously, her head tilting to one side. "Why not do something fun like.... Swimming, fishing is fun too I think..." Atleast she had heard that fishing was fun from some of the other kids in the village, she wouldn't know herself, considering she had never done it. "Walking around seems boring."

Lance raised a brow at the girl in curiosity...she certainly was an energetic youth, clearly. It must be nice for her...to be able to enjoy such things while growing up, instead of just the pressures of battle, and all the surrounding torment that he grew up with in the underworld. "Perhaps...but then, everyone's different, in their own ways, I suppose..." he said. "Truthfully, I was never really able to do those things when I was young, so all I really do is wander these days."

"I've never actually been fishing," Adia admitted after a moment, shrugging. "Normir would always bring me food if I got hungry and other than those stops, I would walk... Walking is boring," she added a second time before looking back up at him. "If you didn't have time to do it when you were little, why not do it now?"

Lance chuckled softly to himself...this child was certainly rather inquisitive, he had to give her that. He then shrugged slightly as she asked him this question, not really sure how to answer it, considering how young she was. "Well...let's see..." he started, and turned to her. "Do you believe in demons?"

Adia nodded after a moment of thought. "Yes but a lot of people keep telling me that they aren't real..." She frowned, she hated it when others told her things weren't real but she always continued to believe in them. "And fairies, and other things like that."

Lance chuckled softly to himself, and nodded in response. "Well, you're a pretty smart girl to keep believing in those things, because they're quite real, I'd know..." he said. It didn't really surprise him that others would deny the reality of demons and other magical creatures...after all, they'd rather live in a world where such things were supposedly not real than worry about them. "And if demons weren't real, then I suppose I wouldn't exist, considering I, truthfully, am one."

Adia looked up at him in surprise, having been looking around curiously. "Your a demon?" That meant they really were real, that she really had been right the whole time. It also proved those snobbish people wrong, she thought smugly.

Lance nodded in response, having figured that she'd find it rather surprising. "That I am...probably shouldn't really show you my true form, though. Trust me, I rarely use it anyway..."

Adia shrugged, it didn't matter it she saw it or not because, surprisingly, she believed him when he told her that. "I'll be right back," she said as an idea came to her then she scurried off and back into the house where she had left earlier. A few minutes later, she returned with a small bag of what must have been sweets, considering the happy little smile on her face. "Do you want one?" She offered the bag to him.

Lance watched the girl head off in curiosity, wondering what exactly she seemed to be going to get...perhaps other believers? No...she was just a child, she probably wouldn't be able to do that. When she came back holding a back, he smelled something strange about it, which he believed might've been what humans called candy, or something of the like. Of course, he didn't really care much for that sort of thing, considering he had no need of food or drink. "Um...sure, suppose I could try one..." he said anyway, taking a spherical red thing out of the back and looking at it with some interest.
