| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Lanyx quickly dropped back a step as their forces closed and began motioning arcane gestures and chanting softly, while Giri and the other swordsmen engaged. Sparks flew as steel clashed, and blood quickly spattered the partially erected walls of Taras. A demon broke the line and spotted him, brandishing a menacing halberd as he lunged wildly forward. A bright flash erupted about a meter above Lan as the spell finished, and he thrust his hand forward, guiding the missiles. They seemed to scream as they flew, propelled toward their target by sheer will and arcane energy, and struck, searing its skin and forcing it back several steps. As it doubled over, Lan drew his sword and closed the distance, delivering a coup de grace to the disabled enemy's heart. A second drew close, and he barely managed to avoid the blow from it's axe by parrying with all his strength. The demon did not relent, and with a spin, delivered another strike that tore the blade from his grasp and delivered a clean slice to his chest. He did not know if he recoiled from the pain or if the sheer force of the blow was what sent him stumbling backward, but he ended on the ground, disarmed and grasping his wound. |

Giri was head long into a brawl with another large demon. They were taking hit after hit at each other. The demon was all brute strength and lacked the defensive and tactical finesse that Giri had. "A weak demon.. My master, would be saddened by you.." He laughed as he delivered another blow to the demon. It staggered and Giri slammed into it's chest with a stunning fist. It flew backwards into the stone wall and it's entire body was crippled. Picking up a large stone, Giri noticed that Lan was fighting it out with a demon, and that the demon was definitely overpowering him. He wound up his body in a whirling motion and threw the stone full force. He darted over to the wall to check on the workers as the demon assault was dying down. "The, bodyguard.. He, needs.. First aid.." The golem nodded to the men and went back out to the other guards. |

"Help me." Red. His vision dulled to pure, undiluted red as he entered shock. The sounds of battle faded into her voice. He awoke later in one of the field tents, bandages covering almost the entirety of his torso. An attempt to lift himself sent a searing pain through him, disabling him. After several moments, it faded, and he simply lay there staring forward. They had won, but barely, he figured. Before he was struck, most of the men had already fallen, but he recalled Giri having defeated several on his own. "It seems as though I was the one who needed protection," he thought, and closed his eyes, drifting off once again. The sun's glare beckoned him into consciousness the next day as one of the workers opened the tent to check his recovery. "I'm okay," he quickly mumbled, failing to be more elaborate in his groggy stupor. "No, you're not," the worker retorted. "You suffered a pretty devastating strike there. You're lucky Giri was watching out for you, or you'd be dead." As if he needed confirmation of his uselessness. Still, he was grateful. Shame is hardly a large price to pay for life. He tried to sit up and found the pain was slightly more bearable than last night, and managed to keep himself from splitting in two in the process. "Bad idea, you need to rest. The wall is almost complete, and I doubt we'll be having any more demon attacks so soon," he started. "Just take it easy for the next day or two, and we can all go home." Lan opened his mouth to argue, but decided the notion to be an effort in futility and, minding his wound, carefully lowered his body back down. |

The battle had ended. They had won. Giri wore a smile, he was pleased with this outcome. The workers had tended to Lan and the wall was almost built-- his work here was almost done and he could go back to his own duties soon. --- A few days later, the wall was complete. A large stone wall-- grey and ten feet tall surrounded one of the sections of Taras. Standing on top of the wall looking over Giri could see much of Taras. He watched the workers gathering their instruments and supplies. Giri knew his job was done and left the scene, he walked for the nearby forest. He was hired as a tool and he was displeased about it-- still he had no reason to stay around. He would journey back to the mountains and seek for his purpose. Giri was not ready to give up and become a worker full time. He was dedicated to never serving the human race. |

He exited the tent slowly. Several days of recovery and he could finally manage to at least be mobile, though every effort sent a surge of pain through him. He hobbled out of the tent slowly, briefly blinded by the sunlight. It was almost as if no battle had even occurred. The only trace of it left now was the lack of nearly all of the warriors who had taken the job of guarding the group. Lan sighed, and gathered his belongings nearby. He looked for Giri, but it seemed as though he'd already left, his job complete. "Thank you," he said under his breath. It wasn't until nearly a week later that he was in traveling shape. Lan stood at the gate to the new wall he had played a role in constructing and looked around. A new beginning for this once great city thanks to the efforts of the brave men who banded together, this very wall a standing monument to their defense against the demons. But his work was done here; it was time for other heroes to play their part in restoring this city to it's previous splendor. But his journey would continue on, he thought, to roads yet untraveled. |
