Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

"I don't care much for vegetables," Akala admitted. "Bread is all right, from time to time. Mostly I just prefer my meat cooked." She didn't add that unless she carefully controlled her vegetable intake she got a stomachache. "But thank you for the offer."

"This is weird," she thought. "A moment ago this woman was trying to kill me - now we're having a civilized conversation....and, hey, is that eagle diving at us?" It took a moment for her tired mind to process that thought and by the time it finished the answer was quiet clear: "Yep, that bird is diving at us," she thought, taking in monstrous animal.

"Um...if it's all the same to you, I think I'm going to grab my sword now," she said, keeping her eyes locked on the eagle, fighting to keep the panic in her voice down. A quick glance told her that the woman was also watching the bird's rapid approach.

Akala groped about, feeling for her sword as the bird grew larger and larger. She was just about to scrap the idea and dash behind the rock again when her hand closed around the hilt. She brought the weapon up in a professional (if unoriginal) manner - losing the precious few seconds she could have used to take cover from the eagle baring down on her.

But it didn't look good. Combat wise, she was out of her depth - she'd been trained to fight in darkness and close quarters, not in broad daylight and wide open spaces. The best she could do was take the stance she'd learned for fighting an aerial attacker and hope that exposed feeling on either side of her wouldn't be the death of her.
