| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

"I..um, sorry. I thought you noticed. I mean, your hands are green, too..." Shan rubbed the back of his head. A lump was forming there after something struck him from behind. "But, yeah, I'm not sure how I'd be able to shift you back to...olive? I mean, that's a shade of green, too, right? This shade's a lot prettier." He stood back up. "But, Ashleigh, you need to calm down, at least while we're in the woods. If you haven't noticed your green hands, I'm guessing you didn't notice that the trees are reacting to you. The more agitated you get, the more violent or active they get." He took out his violin case from his bag and replaced it inside. "Now, maybe your affinity with trees and, really, you know what phase the moon was in when you were born? Congrats on actually knowing that. But, back to the matter at hand. If you weren't trying to come here and if there's no magic in your world...that just sounds bizarre...then your coming her was either a fluke accident or fate. And, well, I'm not sure how I'd be able to help you in either case. "As for the green thing..."he took a deep breath. "I don't know. Maybe your world is suppose to have magic, but doesn't for some reason, and all the dwarves and giants and elves and the like turned into just plain humans without it. It's possible that, now that your body's surrounded by magic again, you're changing into what you should have been, which looks like some sort of tree sprite or something. Not much of a theory, and I'm usually wrong, but please try to stay calm so more things aren't thrown at me." |

Ashleigh laughed a little. "It's not prettier... but thanks." Now her skin was completely changed in her nymph state. Green, but sparkling, slightly darker in the shadows making her look like a green star. Her lashes were slightly darker and she could almost feel the trees around her sigh in relief as she calmed down, feeling slightly defeated. "OK, I don't mean for you to get hit... and it's really not my fault. I can't help that the tree's are whaling on you." She said putting her face in her hands. "I don't even have any appropriate clothes anymore. I must seem pretty pathetic right about now. Huh?" Taking another breath she decided his guess was probably correct. Maybe she was meant to be here. This world seemed to react to her. And maybe she could learn how to hone it what it was she had. But only certain trees reacted to her. Not all. Then she realized something. "My name." She said, slowly putting the pieces together. "It means Ash tree." She said, vaguely remembering greek myth of ash tree nymphs. Several cultures revered the tree because of it's powers to protect against evil. Or so the ancient ones in her world believed. |

She's...not exactly the brightest color on the pallet, is she? She apologized, Critic! Be nice! All I'm saying, Compassion, is she was green and didn't notice. Green. And she's from a world without magic and doesn't wonder about you summoning your violin from nothing? Wait, Shan thought. He what? His inner critic sighed. Your violin. You left it back in that clearing. You're calling it to your hand without even thinking about it, aren't you? And that confuses people who actually live with magic. Critic, we're helping her. his chivalry said. I'm not saying we don't help. I'm saying we get her to a nice safe town, as far as Cascadia, and that's it. Knowing you, you'd drag her all over Chaon helping her, you idiot. "Well, name's are important," Shan said as his inner argument raged on. "For now, we should focus on moving, if you think you can keep your anger and fear under control enough for me to avoid a concussion." He looked around the lake, finding a stream leading downriver. That'd be the way to go to reach civilization. "I...don't think I can help you get back to where you came from, anyway. And as for the green...like I said, it's a really nice color, and in some places it could help establish yourself as someone new and exotic. I can point out the way to Cascadia, once we reach the main roads and I get my bearings back. That's the best place I can think of for a green skinned artist who resonates with trees to fit in. Should we go?" He began walking, looking back to ensure she was following. "Who was this ice mage that trapped you here anyway? Rare to see their sort this far south." |
