Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Moto nodded as he listened to Shan for a moment, "Well hatred, anger, depression, bloodlust... those kinds of things, they'll prey upon the weaker points of your mind, and slowly manifest as a black blob of darkness... I remember at one point a Shadow took on the form of it's previous host, killing him and taking over his life, as if he was a changed person, he did all of the things the host would never do, but had always secretly wondered how it would feel." Moto grimaced as the gold chill started to flow through his body, he grimaced as he held out his hand, snow and the winter air swirled around his hand, forming a spear of light blue metal with a clear thin spearhead, meant for piercing armor.

Moto took the weighted spear and gave it a spin between his fingers, it felt right in his hands. He turned back to Shan and nodded, "At first the Shadow will remain in a normal form and speak to it's host, giving it one last change to fight it, if the Shadow is defeated, by the Host or a persona user, the Shadow will accept it's host and choose to help it. I can feel a chill up and down my spine... I know a Shadow is forming somewhere nearby. You should get ready to run if it comes to close to us, I'm trained to kill the Shadows, leave it to me and run if it comes close." He held the shaft at the center and near the butt of the spear, he was ready to fight the Shadow when it appeared, Cu Chulainn was itching for a fight and was ready to take control at the slightest bit of danger.

Shan felt an eye twitch as Moto spoke. Really? He really said that aloud? Really? Why did he say that aloud?

Well, well,, his shadow said. Isn't that interesting?

Yes, it is, Shan thought. But if these effects were caused by Moto, then all Shan had to do was get away from him.

"I'll start that running thing now," he said. "Alright with you? Okay, have fun, bye!" Shan took off through the woods, concerned as always with increasing the distance between where he was and what he was running from. All he had to do was keep away from Moto for the rest of his life. Which was sad, since Moto seemed really nice, and fascinating to boot. He raced between the trees, his shadow stretched before him.

Except the sun was in front of him...

He skidded to a halt as his shadow shifted into some viscous black goo, piling up into a pile of dank blackness. "I knew running wouldn't help," Shan said.

"I told you so..." the blob said. It shifted and warped, become more clearly defined as features settled and formed until, standing in Shan's path, was himself, except with a face etched far more harshly than Shan's usual jovial features.

"Shadow," Shan said.

Shadow opened his eyes, which shown a malevolent yellow. "Gestalt," he said, smiling. "Feels good to have my own self."

"You got the eyes wrong."

"What?"

"Your eyes. They're the wrong color."

"What color are they?"

"Yellow."

"Yellow? Really?" Shadow said, tapping near an eye. "What's with that?"

"Why would I know?"

"Good point. Thanks for telling me, though. Means I can't go with my plan of killing you and going back pretending to be you and kill that Moto guy."

"What?"

"Yeah, I would have done the whole torturing and tormenting you thing, but why would I risk you escaping and defeating me later? Best to kill you now and have my new physical form permenantly."

"I thought we had an agreement!"

"Yeah...." Shadow said. "I'm going to have to break our peace pact when I kill you. Sorry."

"You aren't really sorry."

"You're right. Good job. So, you going to fight back, or do I get to chase you down? I'm alright with either one."

Shan glared. "I choose fighting."

"Sounds good to me," Shadow said, cracking his knuckles. "And you don't have any sort of mindscape to use. Just your fists, and we both know I'm better at fighting."

"I'm damn good at playing, though," Shan said, raising his violin. "I think that evens the field a bit."

Shadow grinned, held open a hand, and held a mirror copy of Shan's violin. "Not that much, Gestalt. Not that much."

Moto saw Shan run off and grimaced, if it was Shan's shadow he would need help, if it wasn't then he could accidentally run into the Shadow, which could be worse. He set off after Shan, his breathing was even but he saw Shan slowly gaining ground, he was indeed one fast runner. He soon lost sight of him and sighed, he would have to hope he got away, but he should keep on after him just in case, he could be in grave danger... or perfectly safe... it was worth the risk.

It was a few more moments before he could feel the cold aura of the Shadow, he turned his head and charged off, purpose and fear hastening his mad dash. He stopped himself to see Shan... and an almost exact copy of him, the eyes gave away the Shadow... it was time to act. He dragged the spear across the ground and upward in an arc, sending a small wave of icicles at Shadow Shan. He walked forward, allowing Cu Chulainn take over, he knew the Shadow would see the Persona, a man standing tall with dark blue armor, blazing red hair tied back into a pony tail, and finally his eyes... blazing green with an almost otherworldly power, Cu Chulainn spoke quickly in his thick accent, "Ach... ya got a wee shadow problem there ya wee laddo, leave this to tha' professionals, though I would nae say no to a tune or three or ye could-" He was cut off as six blobs of darkness rose from the ground around Shadow Shan, he grimaced as he spoke, "Che... looks like one of those priests of Shadow summoned up some wee allies ta' kill wee Moto, ya know ya might have ta' kill tha' Shadow version of yerself bard boy, allow this persona ta' keep tha' wee beasties at bay." He readied his spear, an almost feral smile spreading across his face, it was time to fight.

Shan started at Moto's words, staring in confused fear at his Shadow, who only laughed at his expression.

"Really? You kill me? That'll be funny," he glared at the four blobs of darkness, who formed on their own into a variety of animals and a man in heavy armor. "Don't know what the hell you people are," Shadow said, looking with disdain at them, "But just focus on Earmuffs. I don't need your help with the twerp."

His Shadow smirked as the four rushed at Moto. "Isn't that right, Gestalt? I'm not attacking your new friend, after all, and you can't help him without turning your back on me, and you can't bring yourself to kill unless it's to help another, right? Not even to protect youself. Besides, what will happen to you if you do kill me?"

Shan didn't know. He'd faced his Shadow in combat before, and knew killing it in that strange dreamworld would simply bring disaster. People might philosophize and say they'd be better without their darker half, but not only dark thoughts and impulses and nightmares sprung from the shadows. There was also insight and creativity and instinct and understanding of things beyond the thin veneer of consciousness. He couldn't simply kill it.

His Shadow began to play as he was lost in thought, drawing his violin bow slower and slower across the strings. Shan felt his blood slow to a crawl, his heart barely beating enough to keep him conscious. His Shadow laughed.

"Thought you two might like a taste of this," He said as Shan fell to his knees, gripping his chest, feeling the far too distant intervals between each "thud, thud" within him. "Never did have the guts to use this, have you, Gestalt? 'Oh, no, it might hurt someone!'" The Shadow spat in mockery. "That's the point, you twerp. The entire point. Now how good a fighter is Earmuffs when his heart's not working right?"

Moto grinned as Cu Chulainn expertly dispatched two of the shadows before they could take a complete form, only to see three animals and a large man in heavy armor appear from the shadowy blobs. He used the spear's length to keep the beasts at bay and to keep the armored man from getting to close, only to gasp as he fell to one knee, his heart... something was wrong, he could here some music, it was hurting his heart, he grabbed where it was and looked as the animals and warrior surrounded him. He saw the beasts and warrior, hissing with laughter.

He cursed his power as Cu Chulainn struggled to control Moto's body, he would have to ready himself, he would only make a single movement, he just had to prepare himself until the last moment. He heard the Shadow's words and gritted his teeth, shouting out, using up some of his strength, hoping to give Shan some form of hope, "Kill... you don't... have to kill it! Just... beat it!" He dragged the tip of the spear along the ground, smacking aside the animals, the warrior jumped back, only to see the icicles shooting out from the spear tip, impaling it in the chest with several icicles the size of spear heads, he kept his spin going, hoping that it would distract Shadow Shan for even a moment, he fell to his knee again, gasping as the pain racked his body, Cu Chulainn could no longer keep a hold and Moto would have to fight with second hand knowledge... if the pain in his chest ever stopped.

Shan took deep breaths, keeping himself supplied with oxygen as his heart slowed. He felt himself growing dizzier and dizzier as his Shadow's song slowed.

"Oh, I'm sorry," His Shadow said with a grin. "Looks like you could use something a bit more upbeat." The violin took on a quicker pace, and Shan's heart went from lagging to racing. He panted in exertion, his chest beginning to grow a steady pain as his heart tried to keep up with the tempo.

"I...beat you...before..." he gasped, focusing through the pain to lift his violin.

"Only in your head, bard. Outside of it, you're a weakwilled wimp who can't even-"

Shan didn't play anything more than a three note scale, but those notes combined with the command word, and a cone of pure sound made physical force struck the Shadow, knocking him down and ending the violin's sound.

"Ow...That smarts..." Shan's Shadow said, sitting back up. "What were you trying to do, deafen me? Won't work. We're a lot alike."

"...Thanks for the advice," Shan said. "Moto! Sorry about this!" He turned his violin, angling it so that it shouldn't hit the man dead center, but sweep away the other shadow things attacking him. He played, and another Blast issued forth, knocking the remaining shadows down and hopefully hitting Moto with a glancing blow.

"What, you're attacking allies now?" his Shadow asked.

"I'm making him a noncombatant," Shan said. "You can't affect him if he can't hear. This is between us."

His Shadow just stared. "So I should just waste you as quickly as possible before Earmuffs gets done with those things." The Shadow began to play again, Shan's ears attuned enough to the sound to hear the arcane layers on the notes. Arising above the Shadow's violin, a long whip of flame formed, dancing and shifting with the song. Suddenly, it lashed out. Shan lept backwards, blocking it from hitting his head with his violin.

"Well done," His Shadow said. "How many more times can you get lucky? Your streak says not much more." The flame whip danced and moved. Shan listened to the notes rather than watched the whip. Those would dictate its next move, and he should be able to react in time to dodge again. The whip moved out, but missed by a wide margin. Shan turned, watching the whip curve around, aimed at Moto's back.

Moto grimaced as the shadow beings started to close in,only for his heart to start racing madly, he started to breathe heavily and quickly to keep up with his knew heart rate. It was almost painful, all he could hear was the rapidly moving blood and the shadow's getting ready to strike... when he heard a burst of sound cut through everything, and his heart rate started to become manageable, he grinned as he took up the spear and spun it over his head, striking out with the shaft to knock the shadows away.

Moto grinned, until he felt a blast of sound strike his side, blowing the shadows together... causing them to combine into a much larger shadow, it looked like some kind of creature, Orpheus chimed in with a bit of his bardic knowledge, it was a troll. He spoke out, "Shan what happened!" Only, he heard nothing, he couldn't hear his voice, he couldn't hear the shadow troll roar out in rage, he couldn't even hear his blood running fast. He grimaced as the adrenaline picked up from the panic of being struck deaf, though it didn't matter... he rushed forward at the shadow troll, he felt something hot barely pass him by, ripping open the back of his jacket, he didn't turn to look though, he had a troll to take care of first.

He watched as the troll thrust a massive black fist forward, trying to force him back and use it's own superior reach, only to have Moto thrust the butt of his spear into the ground and angle it upward, allowing the fist to connect and impale itself onto the spear. The troll roared out in pain, holding it's hand up as it's roars echoed. Moto grinned as he ran at it's exposed stomach, summoning forth the cutlass he had before, he put his entire body into a powerful slash, cutting deeply into the shadowy flesh, he back off as the troll swung his arm, though Moto's back step was to short, his large troll arm smashing into Moto's side, slamming into him and sending him into a tree. Moto groaned as he stood up, the flesh around his face was cracked, black shadowy smoke rose from it, the whites of his eyes were now black with white pupils, he growled, it took all of his strength to just get up and stare at the troll, who was in a far worse shape then he was, shadowy smoke bleeding out from his wounds and the spear freezing up his arm, even with Moto's battered body, he took up his cutlass again and started forward, just a little more and victory would be his.

"Missed him!' Shan yelled, and began to play. The music couldn't affect Moto anymore, but basic magic certainly could. Shan had to keep his Shadow focused on him so Moto could focus on his own opponent. He only needed two enchantments, anyway, to bring his Shadow down quickly.

His Shadow winced and stopped the song it was starting up, Shan's music taking on a sharp edge that shifted the normally dulcet melody into one of, if not pain, at least mindbending annoyance, one that was still strangely compelling as Shan's second enchantment ensnared his Shadow. As soon as Shan saw he had his Shadow enthralled, he stopped playing, and the Shadow started screaming, cutting itself off quickly as its own screams increased the pain every sound was making.

"Annoyance and Pain," Shan said. "Counter that."

Fighting through the agony, the Shadow lifted it's violin and managed to play, except what emerged was not music but silence, silence that blanketed the entire forest as it canceled out any soundwaves made. The Shadow played, freed from its pain.

"I forgot I had that enchantment," Shan said, the sound dying before it left his mouth. "Oh, yeah, talking's rather silly right now, isn't it?"

His Shadow said something back, possibly "Why are you talking? You can't even hear yourself!" or "How about that chocolate souffle we had in Cascadia? Wasn't that great?" Shan couldn't read lips well. It could have been anything.

"It seems we're at an impasse," Shan said, despite the pointlessness of it. "We can't do any spells or any enchantments, since no sounds can be made, and you can't stop playing without getting hurt again."

His Shadow simply stared at him like he was an idiot for talking. Which Shan was.

"So I'm just going to have to stop you from playing," Shan finished, dropped his violin, and bullrushed his shadow, tackling him to the ground. Sound rushed back into the world, and his Shadow winced in pain at being driven to the ground and the pounding in its head. Shan pinned its arms down. He wasn't very good at unarmed fighting, yes, but neither was his Shadow. His Shadow summoned the violin to it's hands, but Shan kept it's arms down, preventing it from playing.

"Sorry," Shan said loudly, not very sorry at all. "But I'm rather against getting killed, on the whole. And those yellow eyes really don't suit us. They clash with the hair."

His Shadow sharply raised a knee upward into the fork of Shan's legs, and Shan found himself in his own brand of agony. He rolled over and off, curling and wincing, opening one watery eye to see his Shadow, fighting through the pain, pull out his dagger.

"Done...with this..." he whispered, wincing at his own words, and brought the knife down. Shan summoned his violin and raised it just in time to block the blade, wood shattering and splintering. Shan raised his other hand and began to pluck at the strings, cringing as he made the sound as loud and high pitched as possible. It was painful for Shan to hear, so it was impossible to work through for his Shadow.

"Don't think so," Shan said. "And now you broke my violin. Damn you."

Moto grinned as he ran at the troll, dodging the clumsy frozen fist, slashing the arm deeply as it went by, he grabbed the hilt of his spear and ripped it out, taking chunks of ice with it. He leaped forward, thrusting the cutlass into the troll's leg, the shadowy beast rearing up and roaring in pain, Moto smiled like a mad man as he laughed, leaping straight up at it, running the spear through it's throat, the shadowy beast shivering as if it was cold... and then slowly turning into nothing but a black inky smoke that faded away.

He dismissed the spear and took up the cutlass, walking over to Shan, his shadowy visage slowly knitting itself back together, as long as there was no shadows he would not bleed shadows. He turned to look at Shadow Shan and shook his head, "Admit defeat Shadow... Shan has bested you and because of this, Shan has bested himself, you have no reason to hate him any longer..." He turned his head to Shan, "You need to accept your other side Shan, you are him, he is you, from the sea of thy soul he cometh, together you two can accomplish more together then alone." He looked at Shan, waiting for the fight to end, at least he hoped it did, if Shadow Shan made the wrong move, he would impale his head and force a surrender, he wouldn't let the shadow take Shan, he would never let the shadows take anyone.

"Um...he can't really hear you right now, Moto," Shan said, then rubbed his face with his hand. "...And you can't hear me either....Sorry...I was just trying to...Well, if you can't hear, you can't be hurt by a lot of my music...and his music, who is me, but..." he sighed. Well, conversations were going to be impossible for about ten minutes, and his Shadow wasn't going to do much at all in that time except be in pain. Well, Shan could at least do something about the latter with an enchantment he got almost as soon as he found he could break the "only two enchantments" rule.

Shan raised his violin and began to play. Moto wouldn't hear a difference in his state, but the violin didn't play, at this moment, sound but silence, the kind that didn't just make no noise, but canceled out all sound around them. Besides deafening yourself, it was the only way to alleviate the suffering of those caught up in the Pain enchantment. Around them, the forest grew deadly silent.

And Shan's Shadow's immediate reaction was to rise up and stab Shan in the gut.

Moto watched as Shan started to speak, using his free hand to clean out an ear to see if it helped with his lack of hearing... though needless to say he couldn't cure the magical deafness with only his skills. He saw Shan stand up and noticed the movements of the Shadow Shan, it was going to kill Shan even after it's defeat, this one really didn't want to become one with it. Moto grimaced as he smacked Shadow Shan's arm, forcing the arm to bend and stop short of impaling Shan.

Moto quickly pushed Shan aside and started a short assault on the Shadow Shan, using a short thrust as a feint and changing it into a slash across his arm. Though Moto refused to stop there, he brought his sword back across, trying to slam the pommel into the side of Shadow Shan's head, finishing it off with a full body thrust at Shadow Shan's midsection. Moto shook his head as the assault ended and he took a few steps back, spitting at Shadow Shan and mouthing the words 'Give it up, alone you're weak.' He had no idea if the Shadow could read lips, but he had a feeling his words would come across Shadow Shan's mind somehow.

Shan sighed and stopped playing, sending his shadow half to collapse in pain once more. Really, trying to hold a conversation now was practically impossible. He put his violin down, grabbed some scarves from his bag, and bound his shadow up to ensure he wouldn't try anything. Then he removed his battered journal, opened to a blank page and wrote a note for Moto, which he held up for the man when he was finished.

"The Deafness will wear off in around Ten Minutes. Shadow can't hear properly for around Ten Minutes. We'll talk then."

Shan sat and waited, playing the world into silence when his Shadow looked like it was behaving but ceasing his play when it began to struggle against its bindings. Finally, Shan judged the proper time to have passed and he stopped using the Silence enchantment for his now still Shadow side.

"Alright, now we should all be able to hear each other," Shan said. "Shadow, anything you'd like to say?"

His Shadow spat a gob of spit into Shan's face with amazing accuracy.

"I see," Shan said, wiping his face off with a sleeve. "Moto, he couldn't here what you said earlier. Care to repeat it?"

Moto grimaced, keeping his sword near Shadow Shan until Shan tied him up, Shan wrote him a note saying it would be ten more minutes until they could hear again, so until then Moto waited. When he heard Shan speak Moto nodded, it was time to explain what exactly happened to them, he sighed once in relief before speaking, "Shadow Shan, you're rebelling because you think Shan is weak, that is your basic drive, but you both should know one thing, one without the other is weak. Shan, no one wants to face their inner demons and acknowledge that they are indeed part of them, when I acknowledged my shadow side... I had to stare down the raw incarnation of death, I never believed myself able to take a life when that side of me... wanted to kill thousands of people. In the end I killed seven men and women. Shadow, you want to simply be your own person since you're not part of Shan, but your purpose is to be one in soul, lend your power to Shan and you'll find what you've been looking for."

Moto dismissed his blade and sat down, looking into Shadow's eyes, "You don't actually know what it means to kill someone do you? You probably never think of it though, Shadows rarely do, I know how to end men and Shadows alike, if I kill you Shan will absorb you and you'll lose yourself forever, or you can submit and become one in soul with Shan but be free of mind. This way you'll be able to experience the things Shan does and you'll be able to exercise your power through Shan, it's your decision though, and if you refuse to do the right thing, then I'll either end you... or Shan will." He didn't know for sure if Shan would end him, if he was to hesitant the shadow would only get stronger, before it could get free he would lop off it's head, he just had to listen and wait.

Shan and his Shadow stared at Moto in mute shock. To Shan, that seemed to be...far too much. One's identity, one's perspective of the universe, that was all we truly had that no one could or should take away. This was the heart of Shan's conviction that mind shouldn't be changed or twisted by magic. As for his Shadow, Shan was fairly certain he at least believed that his mind shouldn't be messed with.

"...You can't do that," his Shadow said, still and glaring. Shan could sense the fear, though. It was something they both had.

"I'm pretty sure he can," Shan said. "And he will."

"Didn't ruttin' ask you..."

"I know. I don't care, because I don't want that happening to you. I could have killed you before, you know, and I chose not to. That choice still stands. And you know what? I'm not going to kill you, but if you kill me, I really doubt Moto here is going to let you get far, and even if you manage to beat him, we've made a lot of friends over the years that I doubt will fall for the charade for long, especially Mother." Shan leaned in closer. "I really doubt you want to deal with her alone. And I don't like the idea of something like you being a part of me, but I'm sure the feeling's mutual, and I know I also don't want to go it without you, because you are a part of me, and I need you, dammit. And somewhere in that seething ball of hate that's your head you know the same thing applies to you."

Shan pulled back and rested his hands on his crossed legs. "So, what are you going to say? Gonna kill me and end up dying one way or another, or what?"

His Shadow just stared at Shan for a bit before shutting his eyes and chuckling quietly. "Guessing Logic worked that one out, with Empathy it sounds like."

"Common Sense, too. And Curiosity got his two cents in."

"Yeah. Not arguing with Logic." His Shadow laughed again. "And really, I should have remember that. Got taught how tough it is alone the hard way. Fine." His Shadow stared him straight in the eye. "We go back to the Peace Pact. Hell of a lot better than not existing, that."

"And you can still have dominion over my dreams."

"You bet your ass I will. That's part of the pact. And there's one other thing I wanna do. Could you untie me?" Shadow turned to glare at Moto. "Not gonna kill him. Alright? Just need to say something."

Shan shrugged and undid the knots. If this was a trick on his Shadow's part to kill him, then, well, at least Moto would make sure he wouldn't hurt anyone else. Once freed, his Shadow stood, rubbing his wrists. Shan followed suit.

"Alright, then," said Shan's Shadow, and suckerpunched him in the gut. "THAT'S for being such an idiot in the tournament! She was going to kill you! WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG WITH YOU?!"

Shan wheezed, trying to regain some air, just as an elbow connected to the back of his neck. "And THAT was for that goddamn slaver! You could have taken him out if you hadn't been such a wimp! You BETTER kick him in the groin next time we meet him!" The shout was followed by a series of kicks to the fallen Shan "As for Diana and that rat and all the other bastards we keep running into, THINK. TWICE. BEFORE. ENGAGING. THEM! Especially since you refuse to godsdamn kill them already." A final kick, and his Shadow let out a huff of satisfaction. "Alright." he said, squatting down by the moaning Shan. "Got that out of my system." His Shadow reached out a hand hand touched Shan's shoulder, humming a tune. The various blows, concussion, and growing bruises on Shan shrank and vanished, taking the newly inflicted pain with them.

"What the..." Shan said, sitting up once the pain left him. "That was Greater Heal...I don't know-"

"Yes you do." His Shadow interrupted. "You just have a mental block when it comes to casting it."

"A mental block? What kind?"

His Shadow reached out a hand and flicked Shan hard in the nose. "Figure it out yourself, Gestalt. I'm not telling you. Oh, and it's suprising to be saying this considering how much of a wimpy puss you are, but you need to talk to Anima more. You have issues there too, and they're getting kinda annoying.

"So crazy spirit man," Shadow said, turning back to Moto. "How do we do this reintegration thing?"

Moto listened the Shan and nodded as he spoke, so the two were of one mind already, one was just violent. When he heard the shadow say he wasn't going to kill Shan when he was untied, Moto simply nodded, ready to summon his blade if he tried anything. Moto almost summoned his sword to cut down the Shadow when he started beating Shan into the ground, but the words he was saying made it out like he was scolding Shan. When the beating was done and their own minds made up, he was asked how they came back together, that was the tricky part, he sighed as he started to explain, "Usually you would become a Persona and give him your power, but this world doesn't have the same things as my own, so the best I can do is help you make a pact, kind of like a Persona and it's user, but different since this isn't my home."

He began recalling all of the times he called upon new Persona, his mind slowly creating a joining ritual, the same rituals used to bind the dark goddess to his soul and the one to bring forth a new persona. He smiled as he realized the ritual would work, not a sealing, but a bonding ritual, he explained the method to Shan and Shadow quickly, "You see, when I summon my Persona it's because I understand and accept them, so you just need to say the same things my Persona said on it's first arrival, along with Shan vocally saying he accepts you in the sea of his soul. So repeat after me Shadow, 'From the Sea of thy Soul I cometh, I will be thy strength in times of need,' and Shan says, 'I accept thy power and ask thee return to the sea of my soul.' That should do it, this way you are simply bonded together instead of being like my own Persona, giving you back to your original state." He wasn't perfectly sure if it would work, but where he came from simply believing in it hard enough gave the spells and actions power, it was time to see if Shan and Shadow would truly become one.
