| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Vyse listened to him as they climbed down to the cobblestone street, he looked around, trying to figure out where they were. He recognized the street almost immediately, it only took him a few moments to recognize one of the hanging signs, the Three Daggers Tavern, a small ratty place, but he had been drinking there for months since he found out about their best ale, it also helped he was only a few streets over from his office, which he tended to live in thanks to the constant paperwork. He could hear yelling coming from behind them, he turned to see the members of G.R.I.N.C.H. running through the streets, tossing caution to the wind, desperate to catch the two, a wicked plan forming in his head, it would discredit G.R.I.N.C.H. even more and cause the guards to do a wide sweep of the city, all of their agents would be fined heavily for their involvement, though it all hinged on if they could get to his office in time. He turned to Brown and told him his plan, "Alright, we're not far from my office and home, if we make it there they'll try to break down the door... I also happen to be merchant head, Vyse Noclan of Noclan Merchants, I give healing supplies and do small arms deals for the guard, they'll take my word over theirs and I already reported the G.R.I.N.C.H. once for pestering me. So we should rush to my office and wait in there, we'll be free of blame." He couldn't wait much longer, he turned to start running down the street, if they made it there in time he knew a very tired dire tigress would be sleeping with her cubs next to the fire, she would be their added security if they broke in. |

For a moment, Buddy was lost in a state of bliss, looking for a sign of where he was. He had travelled all throughout Cascadia once, he knew where the thieves hung out, where the thugs waited and where the guards patrolled and on what days. It helped him with his lovely life of thieving and relaxing. The rogue wished that he could have enjoyed the moment just a bit longer, but it was over when he heard the shouting coming from behind. A sigh passed his lips as he covered his face with a hand, a hand which quickly slid from his face as he heard a familiar meowing as Zan trotted closer to him. The thief gave a look to Zan, before he leapt onto his shoulder where he was most comfortable, though still a bit large overall for a housecat, and then a look to the bag. He could have sworn the cat had been in his bag, but it didn't matter, not as the Blue Rogue called out his suggestion. "The G.R.I.N.C.H. really don't like ya, do they?" Buddy would joke, quickly running after his companion, following him to his place of home and residence. Of course, when they would actually pass through the door, the thief would stop only for a moment to look at the unusually large tiger lying in the floor with her cubs, absolutely an unusual sight for the inside of a building, let alone a building in Cascadia. It even made Zan look with a slight of confusion for a moment, but they could not stop. The Blue Rogue could, if he wanted. After all, Buddy wore a simple and quite common brown coat, he could blend in as nothing more than a wanderer of the night, the Blue Rogue on the other hand kind of stood out. As a result of this, Buddy would quickly look for an alternate exit, very willing to leave his fellow R.O.G.U.E.S. member with little more than a, "Let me know how it goes." As he would head out through the nearest window or door that he hadn't entered through. If he could find such an exit, the Brown Rogue would be gone and into the night. The only thing for him that might be worse than dealing with a bunch of angry scrooges in green coats was dealing with the guards, who seemed to usually have questions for him. And being the kind of person that he was, Buddy wasn't very good at giving believable answers to whatever it was he had been doing. The only thing that didn't sound like a poorly formulated and unstuttered lie was the truth, for obvious reasons. Without this Night of the Red Rogue deal, Holly was a thief, a rogue, a bandit and most importantly, (and favorably,) a pirate. Scourge of the waters of the world, a menace to all who were rich's treasure troughs. He stole, but rarely harmed those he came across. Buddy Holly, a damn good pickpocket and a better damn thief. |

Vyse lead Buddy to the office, opening the door and closing it behind them, Umbriel let out a displeased growl at being woken up as he cubs mewed quietly as their mother stirred. Vyse took off his coat and tossed it onto the back of his chair by his desk, only a small window that let in sunlight, not big enough for anyone to fit through without some contortionist training. He grimaced as he heard someone pounding on the door, screaming for the helpers of the Red Rogue come out immediately, Vyse casually walked over and dropped the locking bar onto the door, Umbriel growling as the shouts got louder as someone started to smash their shoulder through it. He turned to Buddy who he saw looking around, "This place was made not to let me escape... it was made to let anyone who attacks me in here to never be able to get away, so sit down, hide the armlet in my desk for now, trust me on this Brown." He heard the strikes getting heavier, his door still held, it was a door he had reinforced many times over so if his muscle twitched he wouldn't rip the door off it's hinges, only crack the wood, someone without his insane strength would never get by the wooden bar anyway. When he heard more shouting and the loud thumping of clubs, after a few minutes a very polite voice called out, "Sorry Mister Noclan, we'll get this rabble in prison and send an apology letter for letting them surround your building, have a good evening mister Noclan." Vyse smirked, they didn't even try to question him, his influence was wider then he thought. He turned to Brown and did a long sweeping bow, "Well as you now know, I am Vyse Noclan, head Merchant of Noclan Merchants Company. Now that the G.R.I.N.C.H. members are all in jail, or at least being hunted down, you can leave if you like or you can have a nice evening waiting in here." He would let his friend decide if he wished to leave or stay. |

Buddy did not like this... not at all. A place designed to keep people in? Yeah! He had been in places like those before... they were called prisons, they were called cages, they were called dungeons! They weren't supposed to places of business, why would this guy need to be kept in? Buddy didn't want to know but he did have this suspicious feeling that the Blue Rogue had never gotten any sort of gift from Red. However, Holly was in a panic at the moment. He stopped and stared at the door, Zangetsu hanging off of his shoulder watching with same worry, fully prepared to dash out the door and leave Buddy to face whatever would come through it. He listened closely as the thunks came, putting an end to the thudding on the door and then the voices of guards. He was worried because he was a thief, a rogue, a bandit and a pirate. Overall he was what was considered a doer of crimes, a criminal, a felon and in some cases a bad apple. Well, it was one unpleasant situation where he was a bad apple. This was worse, though. One enterance and exit, guards on the other side of the door, he was trapped... He didn't like being trapped, not when he was trapped with pirates or bandits and he absolutely didn't like the idea of being trapped in a place with guards and a damn mother tiger with cubs! After all, Buddy couldn't lie his way out of such a situation, he was bad at lying, horrible, rarely had a reason to and by that effect never really got the idea of it down. He swallowed air and went motionless, blue eyes fixated on the door. Normally he wasn't so paniced in the near-presence of guards... then again he usually had means of running from them of escaping. He didn't even breathe for a moment, only letting out for a gasp of air when the guards were gone from the area... And apparently Blue worked with them on a regular basis... Great. Things got better and better. Sure Holly had heard of the Noclan Merchants... Then again he thought they were the No Clan Merchants before, guildless and each independant... No, they were apparently working for Blue and worked with guards. Oh, it took a moment for the words Buddy wanted to hear come from Blue's mouth but he would jump at the chance to answer, "Well, as much as I would have loved to stay, I've really got to get back to work, don't want Red stealing this armband from me because I didn't steal from naughty people. Pleasure meeting you, we should do this again some time." Buddy's words would be fast as he walked, fast, to the door, wanting to waste no time he didn't need to in this trap of a building. Guards and tigers did not make for a good luck of Buddy... At least that's what he believed. |

Vyse walked over and nodded as Brown said he needed to leave, he opened the door to see a guard standing there, he nodded to the guard, "You may leave no guard, my friend was just leaving, please don't bother him, he's had a very emotional night and he needs to get going." The guard nodded and started down the road, back to where a long line of guards were escorting a rather large force of G.R.I.N.C.H. members, longswords in the guard's hands. He smirked as he turned to Brown, "Well it was a fun night, you should complete your list while the guards are rounding up, counting, and putting these guys on a list of new inmates, that will give you a few hours of a clear window, good luck, my job is done." He let Brown leave, closing the door behind him, he turned to Umbriel and sighed, laying down near the fire, using Umbriel's stomach as a pillow, the cubs mewed and growled in annoyance, but soon climbed on top of Vyse and Umbriel, the small odd family slept. |

Buddy would hurry out into the cold of the night, his bag upon his back and his cat soon within it. The air frigid and a blanket of snow seemed to sit upon everything. The Brown Rogue shoved his hands into the pocket of his coat for which he was self-named, his blue eyes peered out and towards the guard that made his leave, calling to the thief, "Merry Midwinter." The rogue stopped for a moment in surprise, nodding and calling back, "Merry Midwinter to you, as well." and began moving in the opposite direction. The night had no doubt been interesting so far. He had no expected to be chased by green-coat wearing mercenaries or to come so close to the guards. The biggest surprise was the armband in his bag. It was a magical artifact from stories long ago and as a young child Buddy had been sure to devote its pictures to memory. "A Merry Midwinter, indeed." Came a familiar voice from behind the thief, making him stop in his tracks as he turned around to see a face so familiar. It was the man in the red coat who seemed to know more than normally possible. The Red Rogue he was called and now there he stood a few feet away, a twinkle in his eye as he walked past Buddy, "Good to see that you're not trying to electrocute me this time." "No, but I could try to shock you given a moment's notice." Buddy would joke, quickly matching pace and walking beside the Red Rogue, "So you're already done for the night?" "Of course... You and Blue aren't the only ones that help me out in this season. Like you said earlier, you're R.O.G.U.E.S." The man in the red coat said, emphasizing the last word, the acronym. "How long have you been watching us?" "I haven't." Holly just shook his head and let out a cool sigh of visible air as he tugged on the scarf around his neck, causing a glimmer of a memory to his current companion's face. "I can't believe I almost forgot! It's been such a long night!" "You're telling me." Buddy chuckled, turning his attention to the man as he reached into his own red bag, quickly pulling out a brown coat before handing it to Buddy, "Merry Midwinter... For your help tonight." "I'm not done, though." Buddy would pause, stopping in his tracks once again, this time to take the coat from the man and look it over. "I know you'll do what I asked. You're a good person at heart, Buddy. Not even that greedy." "Oh, many people and I would beg to differ." He would laugh, tossing his new coat over a shoulder. "No, you just like a challenge. You could find easier ways to get a lot more money but you choose stealing. Citizens, bandits or pirates, it's the idea of racing the clock that gets you excited." The Brown Rogue would give Red a questioning look to this statement... Maybe he was right, but Buddy didn't really care. He shrugged most of the comment away before asking, "And just how do you know so much, Red?" The man in the red coat would simply shrug and turn away with a smile, going the opposite direction from where Buddy was headed. "That coat's magical, Brown. Try it on and you can slip through the smallest of cracks! And don't forget to have a Merry Midwinter." |
