Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

The Magic Maze; (P)

Ashleigh lay on the floor of the forest, in a light pink dress, the back of the dress laced together with a white tie, the same white of the flowers that were embroidered on her dress. The roots and leaves from near by trees crept around her skin. Wrapping around her body like a warm blanket, the leaves circled around her body. Leaves from the ash tree from which (little did she know) she got her power.

The last thing she remembered was being in the local garden hedge maze, clad in her light pink prom dress, hair up in curls and diamonds dripping from her neck. She had been laughing with her friends, until she took a turn in the maze which led her to being alone. Yet, for some reason she kept on running, following a white rabbit. As she ran she didn't notice the magic from a whole other world that was chasing her. Until finally, it caught up and hit her body hard, sending her to the ground of the forest in Imythess, unconscious and in serious danger.

The earth below her was soft, wait. The earth was all OVER her. Freaking out Ashleigh jumped up, ripping the leaves from her arms and legs, screaming all the while. After getting over the initial shock of tree's wrapping around her she got a moment to get her barings. She wasn't in the hedge maze, she was in the middle of a rather foggy forest. Immediately her heart started pounding. She was alone, and lost. Her body started shaking. HEr feet started to ache where she stood, scared and alone. Looking down she saw something that made her audibly gasp. Her once strappy silk shoes were now glass. Much like the kind Cinderella might wear.

".......AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH." She screamed.

There was life in the forest, new life. The sorcerer practically smelled it, the stench wafting into his nostrils. It was something large and powerful, not like the small fauna he had spent the past several weeks slaving over, turning to monsters, turning to his eyes and ears in the forest. A fox skittered to his side; its coat was sleek and grey, its eyes glowing an unnatural frost-blue, shining brightly even in daylight.

The creature chittered loudly as it approached its master. Sebastian gave a curt nod and the fox slithered into the distance. He had sent it to scope out the area and discover the intruder. Sebastian allowed his own eyes to close as he recoiled into the shadow of an oak tree. He had become disfigured by the magic of the wood, but it was no matter to him. He was at work, as Graham's men had commanded him; given enough materials and enough time, he could transform Norwood Forest into an undead nightmare.

The grey fox approached the strange girl. She smelled living, there was no doubt. Stealth was unnecessary. Certainly the girl would not be alarmed to violence by his appearance. The Master had crafted him as He had for a reason, after all. The fox was, while conniving and powerful, not terribly intimidating outwardly.

The animal sat down, only yards in front of the girl, staring into her eyes, waiting for a response.

Well. Great. There was now a demonic looking wolf staring at her. It's eyes glowed so brightly she figured it must be possessed. Or maybe mutated, something was wrong with that wolf. And, she knew, that girls alone in the forest with wolves generally got eaten. Standing stone still she looked at the wolf, entranced by the glowing mutated eyes.

Her breath was shallow and slow, she felt the wind against her skin where she stood in silence, staring down the animal. It wasn't moving, attacking, growling. It was unmoving. Somehow, this made the creature even more terrifying. IT could just be waiting for the right moment to tear out her jugular.

Slowly she chanced moving backward, her glass shoes gently clicking against the floor. Until finally she stepped on a rather large twig, breaking it with her glass heel. Looking at the wolf her heart began to race.

"Don't eat me." She whispered. Ready to run at any given moment. She didn't know where to go, these tree's didn't grow moss indicating north. Nothing looked familiar. But she would run if need be.

"Don't eat me..." were the whispered words from the girl's mouth, and the fox responded with something like a laugh and a whimper. He blinked once before turning around and bounding away, running only twenty yards or so before turning to look over his shoulder, as if he was expecting something from the girl. He blinked again, turning and bounding another twenty yards.

Meanwhile, the necromancer smirked in his shadowy recluse. His own blue eyes were like lanterns in the mist. His servant had found the intruder; he sensed it.

He rose to his feet. With any luck, the fox would bring the mortal to him.

The fox blinked for the second time, this time waiting for the girl to respond. His head was cocked to the side, and while his ghostly eyes were daunting, there was something innocent and defenseless about the elegant canine's appearance, something that would, hopefully, coax the girl into trusting him.

With a look that look that said "You-have-got-to-be-kidding-me" she sighed, rolled her head, and stomped forward as hard as she could without breaking her shoes. She lifted her skirts, her hair starting to fall down from it's curls. The forest was scary, the foxes eyes were haunting, and she had no other place to go but forward. So she walked forward with great anger and determination.

"Stupid freaking fox with the demented.." Nearly tripping she continued on her path, the forest seeming to get darker, as well as her mood. She continued her ranting and raving as the fox continued to walk.

IT felt like forever since she had started walking. Where was she? It felt like a completely different world.

Before long, the fox darted out of Ashleigh's site and to Sebastian's side. The sorcerer's cold azure eyes shone brightly in the darkness that was finally starting to close in on the forest. It became dark quickly in the Calmonah Wood. Daily was slim, especially in the winter months. The fox had disappeared, but the girl came stumbling into his clutches.

So the intruder was a human girl. She seemed lost. Perhaps not deserving of death for her intrusions. She was no doubt here by mistake. However, her cheeks were so red... her eyes were so bright. She had youthfulness about her, and Sebastian could make use of that.

The necromancer stepped forwards, his eyes flashing as he revealed himself. In this form, his face was shrouded by a black hood, attached to a cloak that fell around the rest of his body. Beneath the cloak, his body was worn and withered. His cheeks were sullen, and his skin seemed to hang off his bones with no muscle or fat between them. He had the appearance of someone who was very sick, but he was also quite frightening. At his full height of nearly six feet and a half, there was little doubt he would started the girl. So he would be gentle.

He bowed deeply before extending a withered blue hand to the girl. The skin was so thin his veins bulged visibly. The hand was almost skeletal, and it would be ice-cold to the touch.

"I am Sebastian Rimeheart, master of these woods... Pleased to meet you."

Immediately she screamed, the form before her was large, and ugly. It looked as though the dead were moving, and darkness was it's clothes. SKin was hanging, veins were fat in the thin body, bones looked brittle and terrifying. She took a deep gasp of horror at first frozen. Taking in this horrible sight she simply stood and watched.

It was his words to her that broke her out of her reverie, causing her to run. She wasn't in her world anymore. Nothing this ugly lived in her world. She turned, one of her shoes falling off her foot. But she continued to run anyway, run away from the horror that had... bowed?

Why would the master of a forest bow to her? The forest seemed to object to his presence. Not thrive under it. Mentally noting this she continued to run, her young body easily taking the athletic burst.

(PS, she's 5'8 and 20. and very thin. :) )

Sebastian sighed, casting a simple spell at the girl that would weaken her muscles and greatly hinder her ability to flee. The last time he used it, it immobilized a great dire tiger in her tracks. No doubt the spell would be efficient against the skinny young woman to stop her fleeing.

"Please, madam. My appearance may be startling to you, but I am no monster. I do not mean you harm. I mean simply to welcome you to my home. I assure you that you are safer with me than you are outside. I meant to ask for your help. You are a stranger here, no doubt. I can offer you safety, a meal, a warm bed, in exchange for your help."

He strode towards her. If his spell had worked, he would most likely catch up to her at a pace no faster than a trot. Just in case, however, his servants, undead animals of all sorts, waited in the trees and bushes should they need to intervene.

Ashleigh stopped running, out of breath and red-faced she scowled up at him. No man ever meant what he said, and she could tell he sure wasn't an exception. Plus, look at him! In every fairy tale, bad tv show or movie this was the typical bad guy garb. So no, she was by no means going to trust a guy like him.

"Yes, I am new to this place. I don't know where I am, I'm surprised you speak english and my shoes turned to GLASS." She said placing a hand on her hip, probably being more mouthy than she should be right at the moment. "I don't think trusting you would be wise but I obviously have no choice... so what is it you need a stupid human girls help with? You're not a drug dealer are you?" She said taking note of his horrible appearance. Maybe he would have her hook!? Gag. Maybe she had to get him drugs. Cough. The possibilities that went through her mind were quite modern... not at all like what he was about to say.

"A drug dealer..? I'm not sure what you mean, but listen. I'm no doubt fearsome to look at now, but I have been cursed. I am merely a ghost of my true form... If you could help me, I can give you the shelter I promised you, and I do not go back on my word, especially to a young lady." He tried his best to explain his situation. It was really not terribly concerning to him. Should she decline his proposal, he would kill her and take what he needed regardless. This seemed a far more logical proposal to him.

"I can show you my true form if you trust me, please..." he begged her, beckoning her nearer him with his shriveled, bony hand. He began to cast his spell, anticipating her reluctant approach.

They didn't have drugs here? Strange. I mean, what place doesn't use natural plants to get high? Nevermind. He was such a wolf in gross clothing, but what could she do? She was alone in an unfamiliar universe. Holding out her hand, slowly, and tentatively she started shaking.

Looking at him with pleading eyes she simply begged him. "Dont.. hurt... me..." But immediately she began regretting her decision. She held his hand in hers, his hand bony and cold. He was dead inside. She could tell. Immediately she started getting heavy, tired, she started to slump. Looking up at him his form began to change. "What are you doing to me!?"

Sebastian smirked as he felt her life entering him, replenishing his energy. He felt his curse fall away, and he allowed his dark shroud to fall away from him, revealing his true form. His skin became full and bright once more, his limbs regaining their muscle, his face regaining its youthfulness. The luster returned to his silvery hair and he now seemed even taller than before, his slouched spine regaining its proud posture.

He was wearing his most usual outfit, blue, black, and white: a long blue tunic fell to his knees, a pair of black trousers beneath them. His cape was snow-white, falling halfway down his thighs. At his waist, a pair of swords dangled in their scabbards. The genasi offered her a smile.

"Do not fret," he reassured her as he pulled his hand away from hers, now strong and dexterous. The girl was becoming weak, already, but he had no way to heal her as she was. "I have absorbed some of your energy to negate my curse, and I thank you. Your drowsiness is not permanent. If you'll allow me to take you to my home, I can offer you food, drink, and a fireplace as thanks."

The necromancer was thankful indeed. He was glad that he would not have to kill the girl. In fact, he had almost taken an interest in her. He would like to learn her story.

Ashleigh knelt before him feeling like she had just made one of the biggest mistakes of her life. Yes, he was now handsome (Still blue) muscular, and slightly flirty. But that wasn't enough to validate her mistake. Sighing she dusted off her mud stained dress and stood up. "You don't live in the ghetto do you?" Well that was a stupid thing to say. she thought right after speaking. If he didn't know what a drug dealer was, he wouldn't know what the ghetto was either.

"What I meant to say was.... you don't live in a dirty, poverty stricken place do you?" She asked as politely as possible. She eyed the swords at his side and decided before he spoke that he probably did. Still, for some reason unbeknownst to her she put her hand on his arm as they walked. Whether it was for protection or help standing up she wasn't sure.

A dirty place? Sebastian couldn't help but feel a little offended, but he didn't let it show as the girl's eyes fell on the blades on his hips. The girl leaned on his arm for support while they walked.

"I live in a palace," he answered her quite honestly, without hesitation, and without any pretension of hubris or condescension. "I live with an incredibly powerful Lord and his servants. He has taught me much of which I know, including my ability to enchant the animals of the forest, as you have seen. Most of my spells I have learned from Lord Graham Sideas, my teacher and master," he carried on as they walked, keeping very quiet about what sort of craft Lord Sideas practiced. It would be quite gruesome to such a sheltered young girl.

"While I am in this forest, I live in a more simple, practical home, but it is certainly not 'dirty' or 'poverty-stricken.' I've been conducting research here, actually, preparing for my... graduation," he explained, referencing academia. He was certain that this girl was of noble blood. Her eccentric clothing and showy jewelry made that clear enough, and no doubt she had some experience with schooling.

As they walked, the darkness closed around them, shadows surrounding them, but Sebastian was confident. He knew that no harm would come to them in his domain, and that the only watchful eyes upon them were the eyes of his own servants. The pathway, however, stretched far into the wood, and it carried the pair for nearly an hour into a deeper section of the forest, before finally, they came to a clearing.

Before them rose an old hunters' cabin. It had been refurnished, of course, most of its aesthetic properties had been redesigned entirely. It was hardly recognizable as a cabin from the outside, and on the inside it was not unlike a cozy home in Kellen Village, or even Cascadia.

"Allow me a few moments to tidy up," Sebastian said, slightly embarrassed. He knew the inside of his home was decorated with rather untidy pages of notes and shelves of necromantic paraphernalia. He left the girl, for a few minutes, to contemplate on the porch as he slipped inside to make the place look like a... normal abode.

They walked in silence for a moment until he spoke again, he had an accent. It wasn't fanciful like French, harsh like Russian, romantic like spanish, or flat like her own, American accent. It was quite beautiful and unlike anything she had ever heard. So, she didn't mind when he spoke. In fact, he could probably read her the dictionary and she wouldn't get bored. She also noticed his features, they were a little... abnormal. But not in a way now that made him seem terrifying. Firstly, he was blue. No one on earth was blue. Secondly, his features were.. exaggerated. Again, not adding to any ugliness. Only beauty. Suddenly she felt quite plain for being white and doe eyed.

Had she had a drink at the moment she would have spit it out. A palace?! Who had palaces anymore!? She wanted to see it. She wanted to live in it. She wanted to be a part of the grandure. He even lived with a lord. Currently, Ashleigh was struggling to keep her mouth closed. "You must be of great repute and wealth to be living in said conditions." She stated, feeling as though she had to use formal speech to match his. "I must say, I'm more impressed that I had anticipated I would be."

So, naturally she was slightly disappointed when they arrived at a log cabin.... even at home she disliked cabins. He left her on the porch, quite worried. She still had no reason to trust him. Riches or palace or lord or whatever. Still, he was all she had. And right now? She had nothing but the light pink crystal embroidered dress on her back, one glass shoe, and a diamond necklace.

Had she known he thought she was of some sort of nobility, she would have surly smiled at the thought. Sure, her ancestors had been when her earth was in this time period. But in the time period she had lived in? She was simply middle class.

Just before the door opened again she had been mulling over her schooling. What did they teach people here? She wondered. "What kind of things do they teach you here?" She flat out asked.
