Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Kagiso did as she was bidden, sitting up at the front of the caravan. She planted her fairly large crossbow across her slender lap, watching the road ahead. She doubted there would be bandits so close to Cascadia, but she wasn't sure how much influence their aerial patrols actually had. A rumbling sound came from beside her, causing Kagiso to jolt to alertness and stare at the big cat beside her. Vyse commented on it and asked for a line of conversation, which brought a little jolt to Kagiso. Talking was not her forte, and she struggled to come up with some line of dialogue to keep her employer happy.

"I enjoyed flying," Kagiso said in a soft tone. She thought for a moment longer, then decided to explain some more. "I think I'll ask my sister to build me some wings. She's very technically minded," Kagiso continued. The mercenary looked to Vyse, staring at him from the face of her mask. "I'm not the best for holding a conversation," Kagiso finished. Truthfully, Kagiso could not stand speaking to people. They bothered her. Something seemed off about everyone, something so awful she just wanted to avoid them. Her employer didn't seem that bad, but something kept her on edge about him.

Vyse smirked at her and chuckled, "Yeah, I like flying to, my friend Ahriman has an airship, the feeling of flight is indescribable." Vyse nodded when she said she wasn't one to hold conversation, Vyse shrugged as Umbriel sniffed Kagiso. He rapped his knuckles once on the hilt of his cutlass, nodding, "I see... but I need to be in the front as part of the guard and I'm a bit talkative when I'm nervous. I'm not used to these kinds of things, leading people, I was once the scourge of bandits everywhere, Vyserial Noclan used to be a name that men of evil used to fear and hate, now I'm just a merchant who participates in tournaments to help advertise a merchant company."

He chuckled as he shook his head, "I've almost died dozens of times be it through my wounds or from my bloodwrath." He felt Umbriel purr as he stroked her side and rode her in silence, hoping that nothing would come so soon, then again the aerial troops could only do so much, small groups of bandits did tend to wait nearby, hoping to steal some cargo before the troops spotted them, then again if they tried Vyse wouldn't hesitate cutting them down.

Actually, Kagiso thought she could describe flight fairly adequately but she didn't bother ruining his prose. It seemed like he would carry the conversation on his own at this point anyways. He mentioned participating in tournaments. Kagiso had never had much of an interest in blood sport, but he thought it was good advertising. He mentioned how many near embraces with death he had had.

"I lived in the jungles of an island in the northern part of the Nalai archipelago. It was pretty much me and my family, so death was always quite close." Kagiso said. Nalai was the largest island, and the one closest to Istan. Her island was perhaps one of the coolest, but also the rainiest. It was there she had learned the arts of a hunter, and it was on mainland Imythess she began honing them. Noting Vyse's distracted vision, she jammed a case of bolts into the base of her crossbow. She pulled a small bent piece of metal from the side of her crossbow and cranked the weapon into the ready position.

Vyse nodded, Kagiso was from the islands, that was interesting, he had never been to them personally and had heard very little about them. He listened to her until something caught his eye, it caught it several times in fact, he turned his head to see a bright light being shined into it. Vyse had seen the strategy before, a polished steel shield would act like a mirror and could be used a signal, usually flashed to someone waiting for it, this had been a bungle to a good ambush. He drew two of his blades and called out, "Bandits! Be ready!" A man broke from the trees, an axe over his head as he tried to bring it down on Vyse's leg, only to have the axe haft sliced in two and Umbriel's paw shooting out, slashing him across the stomach and disemboweling the bandit. Vyse turned his head to see only three bandits behind them while the bulk started to appear around himself and Kagiso, while mounted he was fast... but if he split up from Umbriel they could better protect the caravan.

Vyse dismounted Umbriel, the dire tigress already heading to the other side of the caravan so they wouldn't be flanked. Vyse started hacking apart as the bandits started to come out of the trees, Vyse yelled out one last word before having to concentrate on fighting, "Look for archers!" He couldn't see them, but they could be anywhere, and he knew that Kagiso would have to take them out, they just had to fight until the enemy retreated.
