| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Aiden watched the spectacle among the drow with interest...especially when Blue Curls killed one of her own. Listening to the explanation, he grimaced...and slowly reconfirmed everything he'd ever thought about the drow. Can't trust them as far as you can throw them, he thought, determined to watch the remaining guards as closely as possible in the tunnels. Though he didn't doubt that Blue Curls could keep her cohort in line...he still couldn't quite bring himself to trust them. Uneasy truce until then, I suppose, he thought as he, Shan, and the drow caught up with their freed charges. Together, they advanced down the tunnels with halting progress as continuous hugs and expressions of joy--or sorrow--were exchanged. Aiden looked upon the whole thing with a mix between a smile and a rueful grimace. His own mission forgotten, Aiden had made freeing these people a replacement mission of sorts. And though they had managed to meet with wild success in the bowels of the fortress, Aiden couldn't help but look at his and Shan's achievement as a bit of a...hollow victory. There were still others trapped that couldn't be helped. Not to mention others which had to endure whatever mysterious horrors held within. Can't win them all, Aiden, Eladrin spoke softly, Even I can accept that. To think otherwise is foolish. Then I shall continue to be a fool for the rest of my life, the elf countered mentally. Silence passed before Eladrin responded, I'd expect nothing less, elf. Aiden smirked as he and the others continued in the darkness, the way lit by the soft glow of Shan's starlight dust as they trudged forward.... Together, the freed slaves, drow, Shan, and Aiden exited the tunnel system into darkness. The slaves were jubilant, all throwing up cheers at the fresh air that blew through the tunnel entrance and the night sky filled with pinpoints of starlight. Some fell to the ground and said prayers while others quickly fell to the ground and took deep breaths, simply happy to see green grass again. Before long, the slaves began to move into groups of three or four. "Families, I assume," Aiden muttered as the drow parted ways. He remained mostly silent as the remaining slaves made camp around the tunnel entrance. With no danger of being followed from the fortress, the place made a rather safe campsite for the moment as fires began to spring up nearby. Planting himself beside one, Aiden took out a nearly forgotten bag of dried fruit from his belongings and began munching away in silent contentedness. Before long, Shan came and sat beside him, quiet for a time. "I may stay and help rebuild," he said eventually "I don't know. And I, well...Thank you, Aiden. we wouldn't have made it if you didn't show up. This whole thing was, um...Well, it'll make a good tale, at least. People like this sort of thing. By the way," Aiden looked up as Shan extended a hand and smiled. "The name's Shan. Shan Orison." "About bloody time," the elf replied with a harsh look...that broke into a smile as he extended his own hand and shook heartedly. . . |
