We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

Vyse rode on Umbriel's back, his four swords clanking on his sides, his Selkie Armor shining brightly, his four maces strung up on a makeshift holster on his back, his helmet shining brightly, it had been a long time since he was so close to fully armed and armored. He still refused to carry Niteo though, instead he used it as a mantel piece in his office in Cascadia, the cursed blade did more then he was promised, much more, the blade was evil to use unless the foe was a hopeless cause, and he truly believed not many people were hopeless, but it was still better to destroy a weed at it's roots, which is why few who faced him survived. He was Vyserial Noclan, the Four Armed Berserker Merchant, nowadays the news of his four arms was known far and wide since his last few rounds in the tournament, the fame had brought some success to his business, and now bandits were popping up all over the place and attacking his people, he was fed up with his people getting injured, he once again donned his gear and was riding on his armored Dire Tigress' back, ready to fight.

He knew it wouldn't be long until he hit a bandit camp, Umbriel had a nose for these kinds of things... that and the fact they usually don't bathe, he just had to watch which direction Umbriel wrinkled her nose and rubbed it against the ground, while adorable, it meant something unpleasant smelling was ahead. He saw Umbriel at that moment doing that motion, bandits, or a long dead rotting corpse, were nearby. He quickly extended his extra set of arms, he had his armor custom fit to allow his arms to easily get out, which unfortunately made the armor on the sides a bit weaker, having an extra hole meant more weak points, but it was worth it to finally use all four arms to fight while riding in armor. He quickly took up his four swords, drawing them forth and speaking their names to bring about their enchantments, "Sopheur, Blitz, Fenrir, Lita." His longsword had a holy glow around it as it's enchantments sparked to life, this blade was meant to slaughter ghosts, undead, and evil creatures alike, while his cutlass had lightning dance along it, the sarilyn blade had a frosty mist coating along it, while the final blade, a Lan De Yue Jia, simple gave off a ghostly aura, another ghost slaying weapon, though this one was also meant to cause horrific bleeding even at the smallest cut.

Vyse spun his blades, walking into a clearing where he saw only four bandits, they had a woman and her child tied up, he felt his rage build, but he needed to stay calm, his Bloodwrath would kill him one of these days if he kept on raging. He didn't even wait for them to pick up weapons or call out, he gripped Umbriel's side with his knees and had her charge in, his blades easily cutting through weapons and bodies as his draconic might flared, dispatching his foes quickly and easily. He quickly cut the ropes holding the child and mother, speaking quickly, "Point me in the direction they were heading, then run, get to safety before more bandits come." The woman nodded, pointing west as she ran east, perfect. He made his way west, Umbriel growling as she plodded along, she was ready to fight, the smell of blood awakening both of their battle lust.

Shalia knew all too well about the bandits in these woods. She had taken a short rest from her travels in this place before, and had even spent one evening in a bandit camp. At that point they mainly seemed to be the riff raff left over from that battle in Taras. Now it seemed at least some of the bandits were more organized. And organized bandits did more than just cut a few purses and throats.

She had followed a patrol and watched as they had captured a young woman. The tiefling knew it was very likely the woman would be sold as a slave. As much as she wanted to kill the men on sight, she waited. She waited and followed them and let them lead her straight to their main camp. Her patiance was not in vain. A smirk crossed her face as she saw the camp. Slaves were kept in a pin awaiting to be sold on the black market.

Not being a great one for stealth...it did not take long for her to be spotted. One of the scouts let out a warning call as he saw the red-headed tiefling woman. Shalia let out a curse, before she launched a fireball at the unfortunent bandit. It was time for the battle to begin....

Without another warning she ran out into the middle of the bandit camp with speed that far surpassed anything these men could muster. Her twin blades burned with their icy and hot flames as she laid waste to all who dared draw near her. Anyone who observed the battle would almost think she was dancing. Her entire body moved in fluid motions and every attack, every defense was perfectly exectuted. The red and blue blur around her as she preformed her beautiful and deadly dance.

Consumed in her battle, she was unaware of the four armed warrior and his feline approaching.

Vyse entered the small bandit camp clearing as he saw the woman dash in, fighting and killing them with relative ease, it made him smirk, she was much faster then most people he's seen, but a few seemed to have the same speed, it made them that much more fun to fight. He watched as a few bandits started to draw bows and crossbows, what an unfair situation, he urged Umbriel towards them, slinging his left leg back over Umbriel's back, allowing him ride side saddle, he braced himself and leaped from her back, his arms twirling his blades as he landed, skidding through the dirt a short ways as he slashed at two bandits. When he stopped he let out a fearsome roar, showing all what had arrived, his fighting style wasn't like the dancing of the red haired woman, his blades moved rapidly, preferring blade speed over strength, his skill with two weapons and his extra arms made it seem like a cascade of blades was flowing through the battle, he seemed to leap from enemy to enemy, his blades raining down fast and hard, leaving behind only a bloody mist sometimes as he moved on.

He stopped moving when he got near the woman, calling out, "We should mop this up quickly miss, go free the people, I can more then handle these men." Just after he spoke his dire tigress roared in victory, the crossbowmen and bowmen lay dead by her claws, she easily ran to Vyse, lowering her head and body, allowing Vyse to grab on as she ran past, swinging himself up into the saddle, his blade speed increased, as did Umbriel's speed. He used Umbriel as if she were his own set of legs, and Umbriel bowed and leaned to allow Vyse the greatest amount of space needed for his maneuvers, the two together seemed to become more then the some of their parts, their months of fighting and their loyalty was strengthened when they fought together, he roared as she did, spreading fear and death to all who got within paw or blade reach, this was his element, chaotic battling and riding Umbriel, he was an unstoppable mass of muscle and blades.

At first when Vyse rushed in Shalia thought that he might be another enemy. He did not exactly look like someone who would hunt bandits, four arms and ridding a tiger and all. She did not know what he was up to right now, but he seemed to be attacking the bandits and not her. When he barked an order at her she just glared at him. She did what she wanted when she wanted.

To the side she saw several men raise cross bows and take careful aim at the new comer. The tiefling utter a few arcane words before a bright red orb shot from her hand. The fire orb bust into a giant ball and covered them all in hot flames. One man was instantly killed in the blast, while three of them were left running around trying to put out the flames on them.

It was just a few moments more that only a few men were left alive. Those who still breathed chose to run before ether man or tiefling could finish them off. Several of the prisoners looked at Shalia with wide frightened eyes as she walked up to them. She sheathed her katanas and pulled out a dagger. The dagger was really a poisoned one, but only when she wished it to be. Right now it would act just like a normal dagger.
She quickly cut the bonds on the prisoners. “Go,” she said. “Don’t get caught again. I won’t free you a second time.”

The newly freed slaves did not even take the time to thank her before they ran off. They seemed smart enough to know it was not a good idea to anger a demon woman with two flaming swords. Now it was time for the stranger.

“Who are you and what are you doing here?” she asked. “And don’t you dare call me ‘miss’ again. Not unless you want to meet a painful and fiery death.”

After the fight was done he saw the woman free the slaves, and of all things question him and threaten him in the same breath, he opened the front of his helmet and slid it upward, looking down at her from tiger-back, "I'm Vyserial Noclan, Head Merchant of the Noclan Merchants. As for the fiery death business, trust me, you would be hard pressed if you fought me... and better miss then marm, right?" It was his attempt to be charming and diffuse any anger the woman seemed to have. He slowly dismounted Umbriel, sheathing his blades as he smiled, "Well as for why I'm here... I clear out the bandits here myself every couple of weeks. Since most mercenaries can't handle twenty odd bandits by themselves I save some money by doing it myself. Though as for you mam, mind telling me your name since you clearly don't like being called miss and probably not marm or mam." He stroked the thick fur of Umbriel's neck, her low purr escaping from her as Vyse began to scratch her.

Though now that he had a chance he looked at the woman, she was quite striking, he had seen her move and she was far faster then himself, and from what she said before she probably knew plenty of fire magic if she threatened him with a fiery death. He recalled though seeing her somewhere before... his memory sparked, "Oh! I remember you, I saw your match in the tournament against... I think her name was Nkiruka, well anyway, I was in the tournament to, but I wasn't as flamboyant as the others. All I had was a giant dire tigress while the others were demons, winged people, powerful mages, or a lich. I wouldn't be to surprised if I was forgotten." He flinched as he noticed the thick smell of blood in the air, it was driving him slowly mad, he needed to get out of there or he would berserk.

He started to walk a bit away, "Well if you would like to keep on talking could we go elsewhere? The smell of blood is giving me... a headache. Though from your tone from before you might just want to fight me to, in which case I still propose moving away from the area, the smell of blood is getting to thick." He kept a hand on Umbriel's side as he began walking, he would either end up fighting the woman or having a... semi-pleasant conversation, either way, she was interesting and he had plenty of time to chat.

Fierce lavender eyes glared into Vyse as he spoke. His attempt to charm her failed utterly. She was not a woman who fall for such things. She scoffed when he spoke about hunting bandits. He did this on a regular basis? Some would call him noble, she thought him as a fool.

She raised a brow as he stated he recognized her. So this man had been at that tournament for those foolish humans. She still felt the whole thing was a complete waste of her time. After all she had defeated that woman…and yet it had been her who was removed from the tournament. It seemed like to her that they wished to promote the weak, not the strong.

She scoffed when he said she would be hard pressed to fight him. “Don’t get over confident, human,” she hissed. “I think you also would be hard pressed to defeat me. I have defeated man, and demons alike….a mutant would be nothing new for me.”

The tiefling fell silent once more as she glared at the man. She was trying to figure out if she should share her name with him. Despite what she had said, she saw him in battle. He was a powerful warrior and that overgrown cat of his was just another threat. But she had more than a few tricks up her sleeve if she had to deal with him.

“I am called Shalia,” she said finally. “So you were one of the many idiots who fought in that tournament? I took no note of anyone but my own battles. ”

She did not miss it when he flinched. The blood bothered him. She had become somewhat immune to the stench of blood and death. The many years she had spent in hell had hardened her to such things. She shrugged at him and walked passed him and away from the camp. Let the ravens and wild animals deal with the bodies.

Her hands remained on her weapons though. It was quite clear that if Vyse did anything stupid she would not be afraid to cute him down.

Vyse followed Shalia a little ways away, breathing deeply once he could no longer smell the blood. Though he found the woman rather... crass and insulting, he knew he wasn't the smartest man but he was by no means an idiot, he looked at her and shrugged, "Some people call me an idiot, that's fine, I've done plenty of stupid things, but fighting in that tournament doesn't qualify me as an idiot. I went into the tournament with the goal of spreading my merchant company's name and I succeeded, an idiot would have gone in hoping to win it all when he was horrifically outclassed by about half of the participants like I was. So Shalia if you could keep a civil tongue it would be appreciated after all, what have I done to deserve such a lashing, all I said was that I saw you before and I liked your match. I'll admit you're faster then me, but after seeing your fighting skills first hand, if it was only a duel between blades and strength, I think it would be a fun match." He was itching to fight a real warrior, though he doubted the woman would fight him blade to blade, most people he found didn't rely solely on their blades... but also on mystic abilities they've learned from training, he himself learned special techniques and fighting styles that helped him with mounted combat.

He looked around, finding an old fallen tree, he sat down on it, Umbriel purring as she walked nearby, laying down near his feet. Vyse looked up to Shalia, "You can pet Umbriel if you like, she's just a big fuzz ball. Though I can understand if you don't want to, not many people tend to care for us once they see us in battle, though that's still not at our strongest. The last time I went all out I fought a dragon, it was pretty fun until it tried to burn me alive, took some quick thinking and some quick blade work to get me out of that situation. Oh, as for that mutant stab you shot towards me a few minutes ago, I'm a human, I just have some magical tattoos on my back, one is in the shape of a dragon, giving me strength to match one, and the other... well it made these two extra arms for me. I originally just got them to help me right out paperwork, but it turns out with some training they're quite adequate for fighting." He looked down at Umbriel, slowly taking off his helmet, he looked at his shoulder length brown hair, he needed to get it cut before the next merchant meeting. He placed the helmet nearby before continuing on, "What about you Shalia, why are you here, not many people bother coming here unless they're hunting bandits, slavers, trying to find missing people, or joining the bandits and slavers. Though I doubt you would join them, you fought with to much... vim to even think about spending any time in their presence. Though if you don't want to tell me that's your choice, personally I'm just curious." He felt Umbriel move, getting into a better resting position, she lifted her head and looked at Shalia, as if expecting her to answer Vyse's question.

If looks could kill, Vyse would be a dead man. Her bright lavender eyes bored into the man. Her glare was not exactly one with killing intent or threatening, just rather angry. But then again she seemed to be in a poor mood most the time. It happens when one had spent most of their life as a slave.

“I will keep my tongue as civil as I wish it to be,” she said. “If you dislike my attitude then you can stop speaking to me and leave me in peace.”

She looked warily at Umbriel when he said she could pet the cat. The feline itself did not frighten her. But she had no desire to touch the thing. In doing so she would have one hand occupied, and unable to grab her sword should something go wrong. Also in her experience large cats hunted beings her size. Or at least the hellcats she was use to did.

“Why willingly take upon something that makes you look like a monster?” she asked when he mentioned his tattoo. “Foolish villagers and holy warriors will look upon your form and think you a demonspawn and attempt to kill you. I know this experience all too well because of the blood in my veins.”

If he had not realized she was not human by now, he should now be able to tell that there was far more to her than normal. Her hair was the same color as fire, far too red to belong to a human or elf. And her eyes were a deep lavender, almost like two perfectly cut amethysts. A shade that no mortal creature could have. Even in the way she walked and moved, it was all too inhuman. And he had not even seen her when she was truly angry, and dragon scales began to cover her skin.

“I was passing through these woods,” she said simply to answer his final question. “A couple of bandits thought I would make a fine catch on the black market. I killed all but one. Then followed the fleeing fool back to his camp to be rid of his fellows. Anyone stupid enough to attack me does not live long.”

Vyse scratched his head, why would people attack him, he was a decently well known merchant and he was hard to miss riding on armored tiger-back with a small armory on his back. He smirked as she mentioned holy warriors, "I doubt that, most of my employees know of my extra arms and I in fact give a large portion of my personal funds to help the poor and weak in Cascadia, even going so far as to better arm the guards in more violent areas, if a holy warrior or assassin came after me they would have the Cascadia guard, my employees in Cascadia, and many many powerful warriors and mages hunting them down for revenge, my friends would do at least that much for me so I don't have any worries like that. The last time I fought a paladin was in the tournament, I beat him horrifically, shattering plate armor with my maces, crushing bones, he was a broken and battered mess, and just before I would give him the killing blow... I helped him up and walked him to the infirmary, I let the people and the judges decide who won. I lost by a small margin, but it was still fun, if anyone saw my matches they'd know I'm quite monstrous in combat, especially when I berserk." He honestly didn't care if people knew about him being a berserker just as Shalia didn't seem to care to tell people that she wasn't human.

He smiled at her, "You can sit down if you like, it's not like I'm going to force you into a fight or attack you, to me you're a good person for freeing those people and you only deserve respect for that. So please, relax, it's best to do so after a fight, even if it was an easy one." As if to prove his point he slowly undid one of the leather latches from his holster carrying his maces, tossing it to the side near his helmet. He stretched as his extra arms folded into his vest inside his armor. He watched Umbriel sit up, walking behind Vyse, laying down so her head was resting on the fallen tree trunk, allowing Vyse to easily pet her, "So Shalia, would you like some food, I have some one on of the travel sacks on Umbriel's armored saddle, I've got some good cheese, some bread, and a bit of water, but I'll gladly split some of it with you." He reached behind, taking out a rather small bag, opening it up to take out one of the hunks of bread, waiting for Shalia's answer.

She raised an eye brow when he called her a good person. That had been the first time anyone had ever used that word to describe her. In her own mind she did not consider herself good or evil. She merely did what was needed to remain free from shackels and to live her life how she pleased.

"I did not free them out of any compassion," she said. "The bandits attacked me, so I killed them. The fools who got themselves caught had done nothing to deserve my blade in their gut. But if I see any of them bound again, I will not free them. Those who get caught more than once deserve their fate."

Finally she sat down, but kept out of reach of Vyse's swords. She was poised like a cat. She appeared relaxed, but she was also ready to spring to her feet and have blades in hand at a moments notice.

She looked at the bread he offered for a moment before finally accepting it. She sniffed at it first as if to make sure it was safe. She had reason to not trust all food offered to her. It was not poison she was worried about, since Vyse was eating it himself, but she had been given food made with holy water before. That had not been a pleasant experience.

When she was sure that it was not contaminated she took a small bite. "Thank you," she said, though her voice could still not be considered friendly.

Vyse smiled as she accepted the bread, he munched away at his own, enjoying the crunchy treat. He fished out his canteen from the bag, opening it up and taking a swig, it wasn't water, apparently his assistant, Qadaj, had instead prepared some Black Water ale, a very potent drink and by far his favorite. He took a quick swig from it before offering it to Shalia, "It seems my assistant Qadaj filled my canteen up with Black Water ale, it's something I drink regularly at the office. You can have some if you wish, but it is rather potent, I'd suggest only a mouthful since you don't seem to like letting down your guard." He stood up, smacking the dirt and dust from his pants before sitting down again.

He looked at her, "It's been bugging me for a while now, but you may not say you're good, but shouldn't you be striving to do good. After all, why should we let others suffer we can help them, though of course I believe helping to much only weakens them, but helping people escape bandits might help them learn how to better escape them or hire guards or travel in caravans. I've taught guards to fight and given lessons at the Academy of Arms, even helped clear our bandits in my spare time. I dunno why but doing the right thing just makes me feel good... to know I helped people today to live on and learn how to better themselves. Though I've told quite a few people this they call me a fool, an idealist, and on one occasion, a vulgar berserker." He drew his longsword, placing the tip in the ground, placing his forehead against the crossguard, "But I believe this world needs more idealists who can act, from your actions I know you can fight and act as you please Shalia, but what about your own ideals. What is it that you wander or fight for?" Umbriel purred loudly and rubbed her face against Vyse's side, comforting her cub.

When he offered her the skin she shook her head. She prefered to stay away from any sort of drink. The tiefling knew all too well the effects it had on one's senses and perfered to keep hers sharp and alert. Instead she took a drink of her own water skin.

"I do not strive any cause, good or evil, save that which will keep me alive," she said. "I pick the side that will win. Or the side that pissed me off the least. You will never find me in any army fighting for 'good.' Who gets to choose what is good and evil anyways? Those stuck up holy warriors?"

She scoffed. "Good and evil are defined by each individual. To those villages we just saved, we might be good. To the family's of the men we just killed, we are evil. I follow my own rules, not those written by someone who think they are holier than me."

Her eyes narrowed and she tensed as he drew one of his swords and rested upon it. She pulled out a dagger hidden in her belt. To make it not seem like a threat she merely began to cut her bread before pulling some pieces of dried meat out of her pack to go with the meal. She still kept the small blade in her hand while she ate. Right now it looked like a normal dagger, but all she had to do was will it, and a deadly poison would begin to cover the blade. One cut would be all she needed to end the man's life.

"I wander because I wish to, and I fight for no one but myself. I will not go out of my way to rescue anyone. Those villagers were just lucky their captors angered me enough to slaughter them all," she said in a calm uncaring voice.

Vyse scowled as he listened to the woman, she was nothing more then a finicky mercenary, one that just switched sides based entirely on how angry she was. He stood up as he picked up his helmet, taking a few steps away, donning his helmet before drawing his cutlass, he turned to her, "Would you like to spar for a bit, no doubt you're probably pissed off at me. After all, I define right and wrong but I am far from holy, I believe it is right to murder someone if it will save countless other lives, as for the bandits, killing them now will stop other people from falling prey, to stop suffering you must cut out or treat the infected areas, I prefer cutting them out myself, it's faster and the results show it. I am no holy warrior, I am a berserker, a killer, and a merchant. I am a warrior who fights for a cause, but from how you describe yourself you're just a finicky mercenary who bases her actions on anger alone. Shalia, at the rate you're going eventually hit a wall, someone you can not possibly beat, I would like to see if that person is me."

His extra set of arms did not appear, he would save them until he actually needed them, he looked at her calmly, "Though you don't have to if you don't want to, not many people of skill fight me anymore, and I'm not gonna lie, seeing your foot speed and your sword arm's strength made me a bit excited. I haven't met anyone near my own physical strength and your foot speed easily out paces my own, but as for skill, I don't know, bandits aren't actually a good judge of skill seeing as how I've seen bandits who couldn't even kill me when I was half dead and bleeding. So, what do you say, a sparring match until first blood or the other person surrenders, sound interesting?" He waited for her reply, if she refused he would simply apologize for his forwardness, if she accepted though... he would have a fun time.

Her face was calm and set as he challanged her. "I am more than a mere sword for hire," she said. "Tis true I will sell my blade for the right price, but I choose to whom I sell it to. I much rather accept a few coppers for a task to someone I like more, than accept endless amounts of gold from someone I hate."

She then slowly rose from her seat and shealthed her dagger. Lavander eyes bored into Vyse. "What makes you think I have not hit that wall already?" she asked. "I have found that person, and now I am working on improving my skills so that I can defeat him. Already I have vastly improved...perhaps I have even surpassed him by this point."

With a calm ease she pulled her twin blades from their shealths. Red and blue flames burst forth to cover weapons. She looked at him with her fierce eyes, but he would be able to tell that there was no killing intent behind them. Yet.

"Very well I accept your challange. To first blood," she said. "But don't expect me to go easy on you because merely human."

She then dropped down into a fighting stance and prepared for his attack. At first she planned to merely fight on the defensive to assess the man's skill with the blade. The use of her superior speed would likely help her easily dodge or deflect many of his attacks.

Vyse smirked, she actually accepted the duel, he had little doubt that he could overpower her, his beserker training, his normal muscle training, and his magic draconic might all stacked on top of each other made him one of the strongest men on Chaon. He took a few steps forward, looking at her defense, it was a good solid stance, it had no holes to exploit, so it was best to go in with caution... but that wasn't his style. He charged in, relying on his skill with two weapons to predict her movements, if he saw the movement just before she could make it complete, even he could dodge her even with her greater speed. He let out a flurry of fast slashes, at the start all of them were aimed at the torso, he used his full strength right off from the start, trying to keep a false rhythm of slashes as he prepared his next set of attacks. Quickly switching to attacks that targeted her legs and arms, he just needed to make her guard widen, once it widens he would be able to strike.

He made his movements short and fast, slowly trying to draw the blades to the sides, if he succeeded in doing that he could knock her guard aside and plunge in, even with her speed he should be able to step in and get a cut on part of her body, unless she was even faster then he thought, then he would be in a little bit of trouble. He stepped up the speed of his slashes, making them even more chaotic, his flashing blade's enchantments sparking to life, lightning coursing along the cutlass and a holy light surrounding the longsword, he smirked, with each strike of the cutlass she would get a shock from it's lightning traveling through her own blade, it was something he and a friend had in common, a blade of lightning meant to shock and numb his foes, making them all the easier for prey.
