Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

It's ok, you still gave me lots to work with XD

After taking a moment to realize what just happened, she had to admit, that was a pretty cool trick.

Her paws landed on the ground, her teeth no longer bared. She immediately spun around to find him again, and noticed that he was across the street now. She charged at him again, but immediately backed off when the chains started attacking her. When she was finally just out of reach of the chains, she took a moment to watch them, seeing if there was any pattern to their movements.

After seeing something that she thought to be a small opening, she charged through the chains fearlessly, growling louder and louder each time that the chains attacked her. She couldn’t feel the pain from whatever the chains were doing to her, but she could tell that she was being badly hurt. Reasoning told her that this was a stupid idea, but she wanted to make a point. Some called it stubborn, she called it determination.

From what she could see, she knew that the chains had spikes on them. Luckily, they did not seem long enough to stab through to her heart. She kept moving, but she was quickly slowing down from the pressure in her muscles that the chains were causing. She tried to keep moving toward him so that she could finally grab at his arm, or his leg and just chew until she reached bare bone, but her body was giving up...

The chains forced the panther to retreat, the whirring metal links too fast and too unpredictable for the woman to approach. The sorcerer couldn't help but chuckle at the sight, watching as the feline stalked around the outside of his effective range. Seele could have easily cast a spell to continue his attack on the woman, but it was far too amusing to bolster her hopes, to make her believe she could still escape this predicament. Eventually the panther lunged forward, pouncing back and forth to try and avoid the chains. She wasn't quite fast enough to dodge them entirely, the spikes lining the metal opening up several lacerations on her nimble form. Still the shapeshifter pushed forward, trying to get within range to use her formidable natural weapons. Blood splashed on the cobbles as she drew closer, displaying a remarkable amount of endurance and fortitude.

Seele waited until the panther was within a few feet before casting his next spell, muttering the words in the arcane tongue. "Oloth nindel zhah Rilbol sslig'ne ussta quortek. Ghastly Armor." The magic exploded outwards from his thin form, tendrils of pure negative energy wrapping around his body. Layers of crackling black, gray, and purple power formed a set of plate armor around his body, a layer of protection that would be difficult to crack though any physical or magical means. The elf's smile was sharp and dangerous as he lowered his hands to his sides, letting the chains fall still for the barest moment.

"Enough games, little one." The sorcerer waited for the panther to attack his figure, knowing that her claws and teeth would barely be able to make a dent in the mystical armor. "Don't make me kill you just to prove a point."

It was really unfortunate how strong this man’s magic was. As soon as she heard him speaking another incantation, she backed off and watched as strange energies surrounded him and created what appeared to be some sort of armour. For the final time, she shapeshifted back into her human form. Some of the wounds that were created by the spiked chains closed, but didn’t fully heal. Shifting shape usually helped a bit with healing, but it never healed anything completely. She wished that she knew a spell or two to heal herself.

She stood up, straightened out her clothing, and then looked at the slaver. She was ready to give up, but her next words still showed that she didn’t want to give in. “You really don’t want to do this.” She said, making a weak attempt at talking him out of enslaving her. She didn’t bother responding to what he said about killing her, because she figured it was self-explanatory. If she kept fighting, he’d kill her, and she certainly did not want to die. So, needless to say, giving up was the only option. Not much would stop her from talking though, unless there was some sort of mute spell that this slaver had up his sleeve.

“Why was it that you wanted to ‘work’ with me again?” she asked, though not expecting a straight answer. “Are you really only doing this for the money?” She knew that at this point if he still wanted her as a slave, then he’d have a few reasons for capturing her and she no longer had a choice in the matter. This was happening right before her eyes, whether she believed it or not. She was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that she was actually considering giving up.

Seele shrugged at the question. "Money? No, I suppose I don't. I have no need or even desire for wealth. I have quite enough of it as it is. The lucrativeness of my trade is merely a benefit." He pressed his hands together, interlocking his fingers. "But do I want to do this? Of course I do. The look on your face as you finally give in to my superiority... It is as potent as any alcohol, little one. I do this for pure entertainment value. The world has forgotten my name, it has forgotten power... But not forever. I will rise again, little one, one step at a time. You are merely unfortunate because you managed to catch my eye. Now..." The sorcerer made a dismissive gesture with both hands, as if the conversation was no longer worth his time. You must fall, little one. That is all."

The elf started to walk towards the woman, each step slow and deliberate as he crossed the street. He did not attack the shapeshifter, although it was easily within his power to do so. Fear was his weapon, fear and utter helplessness. "By all means, continue trying to dissuade me. Insist that you are innocent, claim that this is wrong, try and convince me that I am mistaken or walk the wrong path through life. But in the end, it boils down to two facts. One: I wish to enslave you. Two: I am stronger than you. The outcome seems self-explanatory." He stopped less than half a dozen feet from her, well within the reach of the chains dangling from either wrist. "Now will you submit, or must I prove my total supremacy over you?"

She couldn’t believe the words she was hearing. This man obviously had a lot of people that refused to be enslaved, but got enslaved anyway. She could see that it wasn’t worth the fight. She would keep in the back of her mind, though, that she will be free again. There was nothing telling her how long she’d be enslaved for, but if she could help it, it would not be for the rest of her life.

She remained standing and didn’t flinch when he walked toward her. After his question, she considered dragging this out until the street would be filled with this city’s citizens, but decided against it. There were so many more things that could go wrong in that scenario. So, she raised her hands to the slaver, offering her wrists to him. “I suppose I’ll submit.” She said calmly, “There’s no use in fighting for a hopeless cause, after all.”

She wasn’t sure how he’d react to that, seeing as he seemed to enjoy the resistance. Perhaps going willingly into slavery would change his mind. If she was willing, then she wouldn’t be fearful of her losing freedom, and if she willed herself to enjoy it, there wouldn’t be any feeling of helplessness. Take away what he enjoyed most, and it possibly wouldn’t be worth his while. But then again, it could backfire just as easily...

Ooc: sorry it’s short >.<

Seele nodded to himself at her words, resisting the urge to chuckle again. It was the only logical choice. It was clear that she could not match him in terms of strength; even without his magic the sorcerer was fairly certain he could defeat the shapeshifter. "Just think about how easy it would have been to make that decision when we first met." The slaver made a gesture with two fingers. The enchanted chains snaked towards the woman, wrapping around her wrists firmly. They didn't dig into the joint hard enough to be painful, but the spikes on the metal would still scratch and poke at her skin. "You are mine now. Body, mind, and soul."

He allowed the arcane armor to fade out of existence, knowing that he no longer needed it with her hands bound. The elf turned and began to walk down the street, the chains staying rigid so that the woman could not approach him and try to attack him once more. Even if she shifted into her panther form he trusted that the demonic metal could keep her restrained. Seele traveled through the streets quickly, thankful that this area of Balefire was relatively deserted. He didn't want to encounter any more guards and have to deal with them, either through bribes or violence.

Thankfully, they reached one of his hidden safehouses without further incident. The door of the structure looked rather mundane, but instead of heading for that obvious entrance Seele stopped in the middle of the street, hooking his toews under one of the broad cobblestones and lifting it out of the ground. A dark tunnel led underneath the street, curving towards the structure. The sorcerer dragged the woman down through the passageway, replacing the stone behind them before leading her into the hidden basement. Cages lined the walls of the room, the bars scratched with runes that effectively sound-proofed the prison. The elf led his captive to the nearest open cage and dumped her inside without ceremony, looking the door behind her. "Your new home. Enjoy." She was not the only one being held here and waiting for transfer to a larger facility; a snake-like naga was curled into a tight ball in the cage next to her, and on the opposite corner of the room was a group of four human males in the same cage. "You can scream and cry for help if you want, but no one will hear you."

She frowned and shook her head when he suggested the thought of surrendering in the first place. Shaundra had never known the meaning of giving up before this moment, but even if it appeared like she was giving up now, she was going to find a way to get out, and possibly free others from his command as well. It would feel so great to watch his reputation crumble.

She jumped slightly when the spiked chains snaked their way over to her, but she calmed down immediately when they only wrapped themselves around her wrists. She was also thankful that they only poked and scratched at her skin instead of planting themselves under it. “You might have me physically, but you’ll never get the luxury of having my mind and soul.” She stated, following obediently. She did not attempt attacking him again, and she did not move any faster than the chains allowed her to. There was no need to resist for the moment.

She only began to get really nervous about her predicament when he opened an in-ground door, and then dragged her down through the passageway. She didn’t feel like she belonged here at all, and suddenly gained a strong feeling of nervousness. She looked all around her, seeing the other creatures and humans in the cages, looking miserable.

She tripped on her dress as she was dumped into the cage, but managed to catch her balance and remain standing. Luckily, she got to keep her hat. When he said nobody will hear her scream, she walked up against the cage bars closest to where he stood, and then said back, “You’re the only one I’ll be screaming for, but it won’t be for your help.” She grinned, wrapping her hands around a couple of the bars. “I guarantee, though, I won’t be worth a coin to you by morning.” She wished that she had thought of these things before getting dragged down here, but she promised herself that she would make it all worth her while.

She had confidence that she could make an impact on him somehow, with the fact that she couldn’t feel any pain. The only thing that she feared was becoming poisoned or so badly injured that she’d be crippled for a matter of days, leaving her vulnerable. She tried not to think of the bad things though, and focussed on what was happening now. All she wanted to do right now, was to make him doubt his own decision of enslaving her.

Seele chuckled darkly, shaking his head. "I forget how fiery you cretins can be at first. You'll succumb to despair, never fear. I would never stoop low enough to sell a client unruly merchandise." He brushed his hands together, as if the mere act of interacting with the woman made him feel dirty. "I have been relatively lenient with you thus far merely because you are too weak to serve as a laborer, so your worth to me is wholly dependent upon your appearance. If you try to escape I will merely cut my losses and send your soul to the Abyss. Do not tempt me on this." The sorcerer's words were made exponentially more malignant by the cheerful tone he spoke in, as if killing her would be the most enjoyable part of his day. "Goodbye now. I never learned your name, but it's not important. You are mere chattel.

Without another word the slaver walked past the cage containing the were-panther and to the staircase that led up into the main chamber of the safehouse. As soon as he shut the door behind him it seemed to melt into the wall, the cracks indicating its presence blending with their surroundings so it was almost impossible to notice the portal's presence. The doorway had also been enchanted to cut off any sound or stench from the cells below, meaning that his offices were thankfully free of the odor of filth and too many bodies in cramped quarters. He sat down at the desk, looking up at the map of Imythess pinned to one wall. The locations of his hiding spots had been marked with small black x's, while ares where his organization was influential were shaded in slightly. The only places on the entire continent completely devoid of his slaving empire was in the depths of the Istan Desert, and he had several agents working on changing that fact at the moment. Perhaps I will finally accomplish my goals soon and move on to the next phase..."

Seele smiled at the thought and turned his attention to a stack of reports on the desk, picking up a quill and beginning to work. The woman he had captured tonight would help further his plans only fractionally, but every little accomplishment brought him closer to success. The money he gained from selling her would allow him to fund far more important missions.

This is probably my last post here, unless you had more plans for this topic. If not we can start a new one sometime soon.
